The food, in general, is overpriced and disappointing but the breakfast is just a rip-off and poor quality. I tried ordering some items off the menu but after 2 days of being served disappointment on plate I opted to buy something to eat for half the cost at Mojo around the corner for the remainder of my stay. Much tastier with many more options too. The shower pressure is terrible and I must say I did not expect to be able to hear people moving/walking around in the room above mine…. The bathroom vanity is stupidly small - so so cramped. Hit and miss in terms of how well the room will be serviced on any given day. All in all not a 5 star experience - in fact there are 4 stars hotels nearby offering a much superior experience for a significantly lower price.. I will definitely opt to stay elsewhere next time.

Having been shown to our table we then waited 25 minutes before asking we could have some water. I ordered the chicken sandwich which contained a deep fried panko and togarashi chicken schnitzel, iceberg lettuce and pickle mayo on GF bread, which I subbed from their classic white loaf (personal preference). The crumb on the chicken was phenomenal! The exterior was perfectly crispy, the thick chunk of chicken was succulent and juicy, and the strong spice from the togarashi paired perfectly with the cool, fresh pickle mayo. It was giving KFC but healthy and one billion times tastier. They also use high quality Thoroughbread GF bread which is the only GF bread I’ve tried that doesn't have crusty/hard edges when untoasted. The ratios of everything were perfect for me and overall it was very filling and a good balanced lunch. Although this sammie was definitely a 10/10, it would have been even better if I added cheese and asked for it toasted. Just another reason to go back hehe We also ordered the pastrami melt which looked absolutely incredible! It was oozing with swiss and mozzarella cheese, as well as their special sauce. It was quite greasy and messy though so ask for extra napkins. The service we receive at Fred’s is unable to be faulted. They were all super understanding of my modification requests which I am really grateful for. The only downside is that they don’t offer trim milk so I opted for a long black instead, but regardless it was very good. It is also quite a small space with limited tight seating, however most people seem to do takeaway, so it’s not impossible to find a seat. Look forward to trying their other menu items soon.

Our favourite item was the egg sandwich, I was quite fond of the sweet scone with the caramel and buttery spread. Took us a minute to get there as it's tucked away in the back alley but you literally just have to follow your nose and you'll find it no dramas.
