There are even seraphim’s that decorate the mosque. However, it is unfortunate that only Turkish nationals are allowed to visit the lower part of the mosque where foreigners are relegated to the visitor areas. Nevertheless it is an iconic landmark and there are some interesting historical pieces that are worth looking at. If you go later like at 18:00 there are little to no lines.

There is nothing much I can say that someone hasn't already said. No one should visit Istanbul without seeing the Hagia Sophia. My photos are only a sample of what to expect. Be aware that it is closed from 12 to 14, but if you get your timing wrong, there are plenty of small cafes for you to enjoy a coffee or tea whilst you wait. I admit to being a little ashamed of one of my ancient forefathers having carved his name in the marble railing 🫤 We visited in November, queues were manageable, but I cannot imagine what this place might look like during the more busy times.

Great work of architecture built to rival the Grand Church across from it that was later also converted into another mosque. Stunning views and panorama. Be aware and watch for pickpockets. Offer a polite but insistent "No thank you" to those who approach you with tourist tips and "I just wanted to sell you a carpet."

The Blue Mosque is undoubtedly a stunning and iconic landmark in Istanbul, but our experience was a bit mixed. On our first visit, it was overcrowded with tourists, likely because entry is free, which makes it extremely popular. Inside, the space was packed, and it was difficult to fully appreciate the architecture or the serene atmosphere it’s meant to have. Unfortunately, the crowded conditions also led to some unpleasant smells, which took away from the experience. We noticed there were ongoing renovations in certain areas, which is understandable for a historical site of this significance, but it also meant some parts were inaccessible. Determined to see it in a better light, we came back the next morning before 9 am, and the difference was remarkable. It was much quieter, far less crowded, and we finally had the chance to take in the beauty and details of the mosque without feeling rushed. If you want a more peaceful and enjoyable visit, I highly recommend going early in the morning before the crowds arrive.

Amazing architecture and design. A great piece of intelligence architecture of that time. The art on the walls and roof is amazing and one of its kind. Definitely worth a visit and know the history before you visit, it will be a plus. Also, please respect the place and follow the instructions before entering. Overall a good experience to visit a great place of architecture.

Beautiful and Peaceful Place The Blue Mosque is a very beautiful and peaceful place to visit. The building is big and has six tall towers. Inside, the walls have blue tiles, which make it look amazing. The windows let in soft light, making the place feel calm. It is still a place where people pray, so visitors should dress modestly. The mosque closes during prayer times, but you can wait outside in the lovely courtyard. Scarves and coverings are given at the entrance if needed. The area around the mosque is also nice, with gardens and a great view of the Hagia Sophia. It is a wonderful place to visit in Istanbul!

Went to Basilica Cistern on a Saturday ✨PRO TIP✨ buy your tickets online to skip the line! Seriously worth it. We used this strategy and had zero wait time, while others had to queue for what looked like forever. We bought our tickets from Klook 3 days before visiting the cistern. Inside, it’s like stepping into a piece of forgotten history. The lighting changes every few minutes, giving the place a different vibe. There are statue displays throughout, but it does get super crowded, especially when tour groups flood in. Best move is to just sit, wait it out, and take your time appreciating the carvings and architecture. We spent about an hour just exploring, taking photos, and soaking it all in. Photography can be tricky since it’s dark, and it’s noticeably colder down there — bring a light jacket if you chill easily. The art pieces scattered around are cool to see, but the Medusa area is hands down my favorite. It gets absolutely packed though, so patience is key if you want a good photo or just a quiet moment. Overall, an awesome spot, but **definitely** budget enough time so you’re not rushing through or stuck in a sea of tour groups.

Price: In November 2024, it was 900 Lira. Today (April 2025) I paid 1300 Lira per person. Queue: It was long but did not take more than 20 minutes to get to the ticket office. Cisterna: I was not sure whether to buy it or not. But now I am glad I spend my time there. I still think it is overpriced, but for me it was very, very beautiful and it was a very cool experience. I stopped at every sport to take pics because every corner was breathtaking 😍 Brautifil place! (And nice chill/cold place plus very good air to breath 🤣 I enjoyed being there too much) P.S. There are water drops everywhere from the ceiling. One of the drops ruined my mothers shoes... I suggest not wearing expensive shoes/coats there.

A really interesting underground piece of history in Istanbul. I enjoyed the various plays on Medusa and the upside down masks carved into the columns. There was more art and nuance than I expected. We were there for less than an hour and price was 1300 Turkish Lira (March 2025), which felt a little steep given how much time one actually spends there. We definitely enjoyed it, but I’m still trying to determine if it was worth the price of admission. It’s definitely cool underground - I’d suggest a jacket when visiting. Definitely an interesting site to see when in Istanbul. Our wait was shorted because our private guide allowed us to skip the line. Otherwise the line looked to be able 1 hour long. I would recommend pre-purchasing timed tickets if possible.

The Basilica Cistern is another must visit site when in Istanbul. The Basilica Cistern dates back to the Byzantine period. This is just outside the Aya Sofia and a 5 minutes walk. The Basilica is not included in the Museum pass and you will have to purchase the tickets. There can be a large queue outside the Basilica so best to plan your visit aptly

We waited in line about 30 mins in the morning before opening. Then we bought our tickets at the ticket machines which was super quick. If you can pay by card i suggest buying your tickets also at the machines. In the first 10-20 minutes it was super nice as it wasn’t so much people around yet. The buildings and the garden are beautiful. You have to get an extra ticket inside if you want to see the harem. What I doesn’t find fair. We waited in line bought our tickets aleady once. So just include the price in the ticket for the WHOLE place I would say… As there was a long line we decided not to go in there. After some time it got very very crowded and was just too uncomfortable to walk around longer so we exited. All in all it is a nice place worth visiting. Just be mindful when you are going there and in which order you visit all things inside.

I visited Topkapi Palace, and it was an unforgettable experience. The palace is massive, with multiple courtyards and beautiful buildings, each more impressive than the last. The architecture is stunning, with intricate tile work and lavish rooms. You can see the amazing views of the Bosphorus from the palace, and it really makes you feel like you’re stepping back in time. The highlight for me was the Harem—it’s fascinating to see where the sultan’s family and concubines lived. The palace also houses an incredible collection of artifacts, including the Spoonmaker’s Diamond, which is one of the largest diamonds in the world. It’s a huge place, so it takes time to explore every corner, but it’s totally worth it. Visiting the palace really gives you a sense of the grandeur and history of the Ottoman Empire. Don’t forget to wear comfortable shoes—it’s a lot of walking!

What a place! The architecture is beautiful, no picture does justice. I recommend you to visit it in the morning because it can get really crowded and the lines will last for 10 min. It takes 2h to visit everything if it’s not too crowded. Unfortunately, you can’t get too close or get to go upstairs.

It was an excellent visit, there was so much to see and so much to learn about the palace and it's history. Again, this was my fourth visit to this magnificent palace and museum but there was still so many new things to see. Ticket prices have gone up to 45 euros but it is worth every penny. Views of the Bosphorus from here were simply amazing. Read about the history and keep the major part of the day to see this palace. Hiring a guide is recommended. Harem is a must visit.

The Süleymaniye Mosque is one of Istanbul's most famous landmarks, representing the splendor and grandeur of Islamic architecture. Construction of this mosque began in 1550 AD and took approximately seven years, until 1557 AD. It was designed and executed by the famous architect Sinan. The mosque's location is unique, as it sits on a high hill overlooking the Bosphorus Strait and the Golden Horn. It is also close to many of Istanbul's landmarks in the Bayezid district. After the completion of the mosque and the death of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, he was buried in a mausoleum within the mosque. Members of Suleiman's family, such as Hürrem Sultan and Mihrimah Sultan, were also buried there, as well as the architect Sinan, in appreciation for his work in building the mosque.

The best view from the Old European side.. it's a serene quiet space.. the garden outside is a great space to rest and read. The tombs of Suleyman and Hurrem are here. It's poignant to see these at once familiar,and yet mysterious figures at rest. Proves the adage we are but visitors in time..but the memories we create survive for eternity.. Gandhi famously said.."Be the change you wish to see". That was all I could think of here..

We did a cruise on the Bosphorus Strait which separates Istanbul into 2 continents, Asia and Europe. There are some very nice sites along the shore including the last Palace of the Sultans.

Had a beautiful experience in the Bosphorus area and cruising through it. We did the cruise in the evening time from when it was bright under the sun till it got dark and the shades changed into night lights. Would definitely recommend, both sides of the Bosphorus have lots of iconic monuments and views to watch out for.

Beautiful 360 view to the city. Elevator takes you to the top but you need to walk downstairs. On the way down there is an exhibition on each floor. If the weather is clean this is one of the most beautiful view to the city. Unfortunately highly overpriced with the eur30 entry. Something went wrong with Turkey and they think all the people visiting are millionaires.

Wow! Arguably one of the best viewing platforms in the world, offering truly breathtaking panoramic views of Istanbul. The added bonus of an enclosed viewing floor makes it perfect even in the rain. A definite highlight!

The Galata Tower is undeniably an iconic and breathtaking piece of Istanbul’s skyline, and the 360-degree panoramic view from the top is nothing short of spectacular. Seeing the city stretch out over the Golden Horn, the Bosphorus, and the minaret-dotted horizon was a truly unforgettable moment. That said, the entry ticket price felt excessively high for what you actually get. The experience is essentially a walking simulator up, some time at the crowded observation deck, and not much else—no exhibits, no historical depth, just the view. What’s more, you can get almost the same vista (with a cocktail in hand!) from rooftop bars and cafés right next to the tower, often for the price of a drink rather than an overpriced ticket. Worth visiting? Yes, if you’re okay with the steep cost for the novelty. But if you’re budget-conscious, skip the line and enjoy the scenery from a nearby terrace instead.

It is beautiful, but it isn’t worth the entrance fee. Well, I don’t even know if it is worth it or not because I decided not to pay for it. 35 euros to climb a tower. We had cheesecake right in front of it instead.

Definitely worth a visit, beautiful courtyards/garden and lots of interesting and impressive architecture, decorations and history to see. The fact that it sits right next to the Bosporus with a great view is a bonus. That said you can get through the palace fairly quickly depending on whether you take a guided tour, stop to read everything or use an audio guide.

The place tickets were 1500 Turkish lira, which is, say, 45$ at first. I found it overpriced. However, once I went in, it was worth it couse it's rich in history and spectacular views. Step into the colourful gardens and dive into the magnificent architecture as well as rich history of this place! Unfortunately you are not allowed to make pictures within closed areas - trust me you will not regret it if you come and see it for yourself! Don’t forget to visit the painting museum - Full with paintings that captured the history of the Ottoman Empire! A nice surprise was the park full with different birds!

Amazing palace, with lots of different parts, first the main building then the museum of paintings then Harem, the last two buildings (watch museum and glass museum were under reparations). Honestly worth the almost 50 euros per person, only hiccup is that there is an audio tour device that you can get but no one tells you about in the ticket office(you should get it from them). Photos are forbidden, some guards will be adamant some wont care so much, but most of them are helpful and will explain a few things when asked.

Steep entry fee, TKL 1500, about EUR 35. And you are not allowed photos anywhere inside the buildings, only in the gardens! And two small sections, the Clocks collection and the Crystals Pavilion, were closed for renovations. The collection of exhibits is good though and some of the palace sections are grand. There is also an extensive paintings collection in a separate section, a lot of palace painters and Turkish painters. The Topkapi Palace (entry about EUR 45) collection is better and bigger and you are allowed photos there in most places.

The ticket price is a bit high but it's definitely worth it. I recommend using the audio tour which is free of charge. Allow a minimum 2.5 hours to complete the visit. Amazing palace. The grand halls are magical.

It is closed to visitors during prayer times, but outside of those hours, it can be visited as a museum. A major attraction for tourists, it is definitely a must-see.

Beautiful place which is now a mosque but the frescos and mosaics are well preserved. Check prayer times before visiting as we managed a quick visit before it closed for afternoon prayers, we would have been disappointed if we’d trekked up the hills and not been able to get in! Lots of information about the history of the church is displayed. Entry fee is reasonable.

Historical Church and active Cami recently open after years of renovation. Also if you want to visit the colorful neighborhood of Balat it is about 20/25 minutes down hill.

Very interesting place. Church/Mosque is really small. 1 room and two hallways to look at. Price is 20 or 23 euros depends on where you buy it. It is cool to see but way too expansive. It takes maybe 20 minutes max to get bored.

Super museum let down a little by limited access. Always buy your €15 ticket on-line to avoid the more expensive queue. The hall showing the Troy excavations and the science behind archaeology was brilliant. There are a lot of pristine statues, coins, crowns and the spectacular Sarcophagus displays showing how the Turkish teams extracted them are amazing. Outside the building the columns and statues are not all accessible due to building work, a bit more work to improve access here would be good. The Ottoman building with blue tiles is closed.

A wonderful museum. Ear the tip of the golden horn with some truly gorgeous artifacts. The Alexander tomb was the highlight for me... What an amazing piece of art. The murals are also fantastic and give a wonderful sense of ancient Roman life covering several social groups. It's a must visit for any lover of antiquity.

Excellent museum. The internet says you need about 2 hours here, but this place is too big! If you are an avid reader or a fan of history, it is easy to stay here for 3 or 4 hours. My favorite collections were the Coin Room, the interactive excavation activities, and the exhibit on the ancient city of Troy. There’s also a free audio guide at the entrance that you can with a QR code/app. This is a great place for people of all ages. Highly recommend!

Good museum, with many significant artifacts. Perhaps it is because it was my last stop after walking all morning, I found myself uninterested in many of the displays. Museum had work being down, some area blocked off, but most was accessible, just had to walk around.

Inside, you can explore unique artifacts from centuries before Christ, including items from the Byzantine era, Alexander the Great, and ancient history. A visit usually takes around 1.5 hours. If you’re in Istanbul, it’s worth visiting, but I recommend buying your tickets in advance to avoid waiting in line for up to an hour. The Museum Pass is valid here.

well... it is a very nice museum - it has marvelous exhibits that are really worth seeing, I especially liked the part about Troy which was also used to explain how archeology works. they also used means of multimedia - so the museological/scientific part is great. prices must have gone up quite a bit lately, everything was signed out with 15 €, but it actually costs about 60 €... But - and that may sound weird - the toilets are a disgrace. 2 toilets for women, both literally overflowing and unusable.

It was a great experience but I feel they should charge you less when they're doing renovations. Paid full price for only one of the buildings to be open and some of the exhibitions in the one building to be closed. So we paid full price for for less than a third of all the exhibitions

I really enjoyed walking across the Galata bridge. The view in both directions is lovely and you get to see a unique side of the city. The fishing and number of birds due to fishing was interesting to see. We didn’t venture to the restaurants underneath (we were told not to from a few people). The walk across didn’t take long and we thought was well worth it. At both ends of the bridge are great locations to photograph the skylines in either direction.

Very popular and crowded bridge 2 layers down you will find coffee shops and fish restaurants on both sides and on the top fishermen, tram and cars It is a very beautiful area for photoshooting as you can see the land from in between Nice for a walk and discovering the city

How do you rate a bridge? Well, it serves its functionality, and has a good view. It also has restaurants, though quite touristic. People fish on top. It is worth a quick visit, but because of all the traffic it is less charming.

Lots of fisherman. Nice to see. The stroll over the bridge is fun and you would get super amazed by all the fisherman and ppl that are fishing in there. There’s not a bad smell. It might smell a bit like fish but nothing to hard to handle. And you can go over or under the bridge.

I visited Gülhane Park, Istanbul’s oldest and one of its largest urban parks, and it’s a beautiful spot to relax and enjoy nature. Gülhane Park is a stunning green oasis in the middle of Istanbul. We went for a quick walk during our trip, and since it was flower season, the park was absolutely breathtaking. Tulips and other flowers were blooming in all colours. It's peaceful, beautiful, and a lovely break from the busy city. Definitely 5 out of 5.

A nice tranquil park which is easily accessible. Some tulips were already in bloom when I visited on 30th March. It's not big so an hour should suffice unless you linger on. There were vendors selling popcorn, roasted chestnuts, corn, bagels outside the entrance, good idea to grab some if you planned on having a relaxing time here.

Visited during tulip season and it was absolutely magnificent! A stunning display of color and a beautiful green oasis in the city. Truly a delight!

Walking through Gulhane Park in spring felt like stepping into a painting. The vibrant blossoms, the soft rustle of leaves in the gentle breeze, and the warm sun filtering through the trees.. Yaa it was as if the whole world slowed down, allowing me to truly savor each moment. Indeed, çok güzel. Burada olmayı seviyorum.

This park is open for public free admission and was very busy yesterday as it’s weekend day, flowers started to vanish as weather is changing but still you can see greenery scene, as you exit the park you can enjoy walking on sea shore
