Koza Han, also known as Cocoon Han, is a historic silk market with stunning Ottoman-era architecture and a wide range of retailers. This multilevel han was built at the end of the 15th century by architect Abdul Ula Bin Pulad Shah under the orders of Ottoman Sultan Bayezid II. The han served as an inn for merchants and consists of two courtyards, barns, warehouses, and 95 rooms.
We spent the whole day here exploring and it was such an enjoyable experience. Prices much cheaper than in IST. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Beautiful building. Courtyard offered a serene place for a cup of tea. Bazaar style shopping to be had around the outside of building. Inside had lil shops with silk scarves and delicates. Fresh fruits and veggies galore a lil further down. Enjoyed this explorer day alot!

This is a historic han in the city of bursa. We got there before it opened, so we just had a walk. I liked the architecture of the place. It is nice to drop by if you are around
Antoun B — Google review
We stopped by on a weekend getaway to Bursa, and it was absolutely packed with people. Despite the chaos, we managed to have a blast. I ended up buying some silk scarves that I don’t really need, I can’t resist that stuff! Love it!
Mayte E — Google review
The history of Koza Han being a 14th century caravanserai on the silk road is worth visiting. Seeing the structure you can imagine the bustling silk road activities. Shopping is ok, I am sure I paid too much for a silk scarf not knowing how to bargain. The Turkish coffee experience in the courtyard is great.
Ada A — Google review
This is the center of silk production and trade. Not much of the shop is open while we visited, so we do not have a chance to go shopping. You can take more pictures because it is a historical market.
Seeker S — Google review
Interesting market place especially if you are interested in silk products... The upper floor is only shops (also sweet shop you can buy the local chestnut sweet), the lower floor has plenty of choices for coffee, tea and light beverages... Also has a nice little mosque...

Nice historical place with nice touristic places. You can rest and enjoy Turkish coffee, tee and other drinks. A must see place. There are in the historic city Bursa many those called in tuerkish Han. A Han are in the middle of old historic building from beginning the year 1200 to the Osman time before the tuerkish republic starts in the 1920s. This is the famous one in Bursa .

We were surprised how well the museum was put together. Many different interesting subjects and times were displayed. Great atmosphere too. Just a little sad to see no visitors, we were almost alone...

A very much nice place. Entrance is only 2 liras, you can use the bus card to go in. The place is nice and clean and the music playing all the time was very nice too. Walking inside was organised as well, you need to follow the foot signs on the ground to walk through it. The only problem was that all instructions were in Turkish language only.
Jihad J — Google review
A compact neat city museum. As of summer 2023, still not a word in English, which strands Antiquity section to your knowledge/intuition, but the halls dedicated to XIX/XX centuries are still fun to explore, I'd argue. Takes about 30min this way. Free admission.
Dan M — Google review
It’s free. So why not come. It’s not in English which sucks but the museum is probably one of the best set ups I have seen in Turkey. Takes about 1-2 hours walking a through it. Lots to see. Definitely worth to come.

It's a nice museum with a nice variety of subjects presented. The artifact descriptions are all in Turkish though, no other languages were available. There was just one exhibit that had one sentence in English that I found.

The set up in this museum is fabulous even by Western standards, I really wished they had English panels for everything because it totally deserves it. I loved it despite understanding a limited amount of the presentation.

Mosque
Sights & Landmarks
The Bursa Grand Mosque, also known as the Ulu Mosque, is a magnificent and ornate structure built in 1399 by Ottoman Sultan Bayezid. This Seljuk-style mosque features 20 domes and two towering minarets, making it a dominant and enduring symbol of Bursa.
It was my first time visiting this mosque, and I was thrilled to set foot in a mosque in Turkey on the very first day of our tour. It was fascinating to observe how organized everything was, from the shoe storage to the immaculate cleanliness of the mosque. The men's wudu area was inside the mosque, open to the space, while the women’s wudu area was located at the back, a bit farther away. When we arrived, it started to rain, and the line to enter the mosque got us a little wet, but we didn’t mind—we were too excited to care. I had the opportunity to try on the Turkish version of the prayer garment (mukena) for the first time and prayed there. I’m not sure about the mosque's past, but I was incredibly happy to visit it with my mother. The calligraphy inside was grand, and the centuries-old building still stood proudly and beautifully. Outside the mosque gates, there were plenty of shops, including one selling gelato. My mom and I didn’t buy anything as we were still full, but we enjoyed the stroll. I hope that one day we’ll be able to visit this mosque again and spend more time there, as our tour didn’t allow us to stay as long as we’d have liked, hehe.

What an amazing masjid, wudu facilities inside and toilets are available outside. The architecture and the islamic calligraphy is stunning.
Abdullah C — Google review
Truly a grand mosque built by 4th Ottoman Sultan Beyezid 1 around 1396. It is a breathtaking testament to Ottoman architecture. Its 20 domes create a mesmerizing silhouette against the sky, while the intricate calligraphy adorning its walls is simply awe-inspiring. It's a place where you can immerse yourself in the rich history of the Ottoman Empire and appreciate the beauty of Islamic art. I went to Fajr (early morning prayer) and it was an unforgettable experience. Whether you're a history buff, an architecture enthusiast, or simply a traveller seeking unique experiences, the Grand Mosque of Bursa is a must-visit.
Noman S — Google review

The Mosque was built in 1399, an architect is unknown. The greatest mosque I have ever seen. No hundreds of tourists as in Istanbul.
Guliaim A — Google review
The Grand Mosque (Ulu Camii) in Bursa, Turkey, is one of the most significant examples of early Ottoman architecture and a key historical monument. Built between 1396 and 1399 by Sultan Bayezid I, it reflects a transition from Seljuk influences toward the unique Ottoman mosque style. KEY FEATURES:- 1. Architectural Design:- The mosque has 20 domes arranged in four rows of five, which is rare in Ottoman mosques. These domes symbolize the 20 mosques Bayezid I promised to build after a victorious battle. Two minarets adorn the structure, while the interior showcases Islamic calligraphy and ornate carvings. 2. Interior and Fountain:- A shadirvan (ablution fountain) is located inside the mosque, under the central dome—a unique feature that enhances the spiritual ambiance. The walls are adorned with some of the finest examples of Ottoman calligraphy, created by different artists. 3. Historical Importance:- Ulu Camii holds religious and cultural significance as a symbol of the Ottoman Empire’s early expansion and architectural development. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of Bursa's historic urban landscape, emphasizing the city’s role as the first capital of the Ottoman Empire. The Grand Mosque is a must-visit attraction in Bursa for those interested in Islamic art, history, and early Ottoman architecture.

Sights & Landmarks
The Irgandi Bridge, constructed during the Ottoman era in 1442, is a significant historical landmark in Bursa. It served as a commercial hub with an Ottoman bazaar on top and storage spaces within its main structure. The bridge is adorned with traditional arts and crafts outlets, offering visitors a glimpse of artisans at work. Its yellow bazaar atop the ancient stone bridge makes it a unique sight in Turkey.
Irgandı Bridge is a unique historical gem in Bursa! This charming Ottoman-era bridge is not just a crossing but also home to small artisan shops and cafés, creating a picturesque and lively atmosphere. The architecture and views make it a perfect spot for photography and a peaceful stroll. A must-visit for history and culture lovers!

One of the four bazaar bridges in the world that are still open to pedestrian traffic, it is the oldest after the one in Florence. It was built in 1442. There are art galleries and cafe shops on it. It is definitely recommended to drink sahlep made from buffalo milk in cafes.

This is one of the rare experiences that you would have in bursa. This is a market bridge. The shops fill the bridge. The beautiful photos is when you take the photos from below the bridge. This place is not to be missed.

The Green Tomb, also known as Yesil Turbe, is a magnificent mausoleum located in Bursa, Turkey. Built in 1421 for Sultan Mehmed, it features an ornate octagonal shape made of marble and green tiles. Adjacent to the impressive Green Mosque, this site showcases intricate Ottoman architecture and vibrant tilework. Commissioned by Sultan Mehmet Celebi in 1419, the tomb captures the transition from Persian to Ottoman architectural styles.
Together with the Green Mosque (Yesil Cami) it was an incredible experience. It is more than 600 years old, built as a mausoleum for Sultan Mehmed I. It is very peaceful and I personally enjoyed a moment of reflection and admiration. Must visit!

One of the tourist spots and historical place in Bursa, the Green Tomb or Yeşil Türbe in Turkish language There are 9 tombs including the tomb of Çelebi Mehmed (his idea to build this tomb), his 3 sons, his 4 daughters and his foster mother. The architecture and design is very much Ottoman era - the color of the tiles and ceramics and the arrangement of it. Well maintained, clean, tidy place and protected by guards. No need for ticket and free admission but respect the religion and tradition when going to this place

This was my second visit to Bursa, and also to the Green Tomb. I was fortunate to offer Isha prayer here. I've truly fallen in love with Bursa, and I enjoy revisiting all the beautiful places it has to offer. This time, we visited the Green Tomb at night and prayed Isha in the Green Tomb Mosque. The Green Tomb is the stunning mausoleum of the fifth Ottoman Sultan, Mehmed I, in Bursa. It was built by his son, Murad II, after Mehmed's death in 1421. Designed by architect Hacı Ivaz Pasha, it stands opposite the Green Mosque. The interior is beautifully decorated, and it's free to visit. It's a must see if you're in Bursa, a beautiful building with remarkable Ottoman era architecture. Both the mosque and the tomb are ♿accessible, though you will need to 🅿️park your car along the road in front of the Silk Center.

After Yıldırım Bayezid's defeat in the Battle of Ankara, Prince Çelebi Mehmed, who was in Amasya, one day invited Molla Ali to his presence and said: "Oh Molla Ali! Have you learned a lesson from the incident that happened? The calamity that happened to my father Yıldırım Bayezid and Can you think of the reasons for the troubles? You see, each of us has been separated. My brother Mûsâ Çelebi walked against Îsâ Çelebi and sat on the throne in Bursa. My brother Süleymân Çelebi sat on the throne in Edirne. While the enemy is afraid of us, now we have become a laughing stock to the world. In particular, the discord and corruption of my brother Süleyman Çelebi, who lives in Edirne, is feared. The good will and zeal I carry towards religion and the state has made me even more sensitive in the face of these events. Let's go on a pilgrimage with you, abandoning the idea of crown and throne!”  Çelebi Mehmed was talking and cryingat the same time. In the evening, they both went to bed and prayed for the intention of an opening. Çelebi Mehmed saw his grandfather Murâd-ı Hüdâvendigâr in his dream. Emir Sultan was with him.  Giving him a sword and a saddled horse;  "Come on, my hero! Establish the principles of religion!" they said. Although Çelebi did not want to ride a horse, he saw that he had to do so in desperation and moved towards Gallipoli. On the same night, Molla dreamed that he was in Bursa and saw Çelebi Mehmed on the throne and Musa Çelebi under the throne. Thereupon, Mehmed Çelebi moved to Bursa and ascended to the Ottoman throne.  He became the owner of the Ottoman throne as he saw in his dream.

Recently, we spent a weekend at the Sheraton Bursa hotel, and it was exactly what we needed for the autumn season! From the start, we were impressed by the cozy atmosphere and the friendly staff. The room was spacious, with stunning views of the city. We especially loved the presence of a hot tub in the bathroom—it was the perfect way to relax and warm up after exploring the city. After our spa treatments, we were served tea with honey, which was a delightful end to the day. We also enjoyed excellent service at the restaurant and quick room service. The hotel is ideally located for exploring the attractions, and we are already planning to return! I filmed a detailed video review that you can find on YouTube under the name Bookingman. Great hotel for doing business in Bursa. Good quality restaurant on site, I recommend trying their Seafood. Amazingly friendly staff all over the hotel. Easy parking, shops and restaurants in walking distance. Only comment for improvement: the indoor pool opens at 9:00 am only - too late for most business travellers and I like a quick swim before breakfast.

One of the best hotels in Bursa area, especially if you are a member of the Marriott Bonvoy Elite… Service was always great and staff is very attentive. Dining restaurant in lobby area with Mediterranean food options are on a pricey side, but it’s better than similar options like zennup and surrounding restaurants in hotel area. For the last two or three stays, I realized that breakfast buffet does not have bananas and when I would ask specifically to bring one for baby, staff would look at me like I’m from the Mars:)) but each time they were kind enough to bring it toward the end of the breakfast…For some reason indoor pool temperature was always on a cooler side each time we visited this facility. Outdoor pool was closed for maintenance multiple times no matter which season we were visiting. There are very limited options in M club as far as alcohol options, used to be better years ago. Food is good though.

My daughter and I decided to take a little rest from walking around the bazaar. We decided to stop by the nearest cafe. We were greeted almost immediately, seated and our order taken in a timely fashion. I had a latte, it was good. My daughter decided to have a bite to eat and she had the chicken wrap, also good. The young ladies serving us were attentive as we really didn’t wait much and the atmosphere calming and the weather beautiful. I would return.

I cannot comment about the coffee mentioned in the other reviews, as we went there only for a breakfast on a weekday. The ambiance and atmosphere are very nice, as it is located in an old khan, but I cannot tell the same for breakfast. It was very basic, none of the products they serve is anything special. It feels like as if they are all bought from the closest supermarket. On top of that, they served cold, not-toasted bread, which a big minus for me for breakfast. And not to forget: The price for one person is probably the highest I paid for breakfast in Bursa. It might be a decent option to stop by for a coffee if you are discovering Bursa old town, but I do not recommend it for breakfast at all.

It was a rainy day. I went there with my family, when I was going to leave my car suddenly broken...! The owner of the restaurant helped me so much... He was trying to fix it with his staff despite the heavy rain. When he failed, he called the emergency maintenance service & talk to them in Turkish. We were waiting for the emergency service to come maybe for one hour. During this period We stayed in the restaurant under his hospitality. He ordered again drinks and desserts & fruits for my kids & after we are done he refused to take any money for the things we have ordered... I tyred too much to pay but he's insisted not to take the money....! What a great & generous man. I will definitely go again for this place. I owe them so much.
