It features a nature reserve with wet woodland and marshland, as well as paths alongside the Grand Union Canal and through Whippendell Woods. The park offers sports facilities, kids' attractions such as an extensive play park and miniature railway, and amenities like cafes. Visitors can enjoy outdoor activities like sunbathing, paddling pools, and play areas.
Cassiobury Park is Watford’s largest and most popular public park, offering over 190 acres of beautiful green space for everyone to enjoy. Once part of the estate belonging to the Earls of Essex, the park has a rich history and is now a much-loved destination for locals and visitors alike. The park features a wide range of facilities including children’s playgrounds, a splash pool, café, sports courts, and picnic areas. It’s perfect for walking, cycling, jogging, or just relaxing in nature. The park’s wooded areas and open fields provide a peaceful setting all year round. One of the park’s highlights is the Grand Union Canal, which runs alongside it, offering scenic waterside walks, wildlife spotting, and the occasional narrowboat cruising past. It adds a quiet charm and makes the park feel like a countryside escape in the middle of town. Another favourite attraction is the Watford Miniature Railway, a small train that gives children and families a fun ride through the park. Seasonal events and family activities are often held here, especially during the summer. With its mix of nature, history, and recreational activities, Cassiobury Park is a perfect place to unwind, explore, and enjoy the outdoors — a true green heart of Watford.

This park is beautiful and well-maintained, with free parking for up to two hours. It has a cafe, toilet facilities, and is accessible to everyone. There’s a canal with many water features, walking trails, and a large field where kids can play sports or families can enjoy a picnic. It also has kids train and a playground. Pet friendly for your dog’s walk. The park is only a 10-minute walk from Watford station if you’re taking public transport. It’s a great spot to relax and have fun!

We had an absolute blast at the Junior Race in Cassiobury Park! The event was incredibly well-organized, with a clear layout and friendly marshals ensuring everything ran smoothly. The course itself was challenging yet fun, perfect for young runners. The atmosphere was electric, with plenty of enthusiastic support from spectators. Huge kudos to the organizers and volunteers for putting on such a fantastic event. We can't wait to come back next year! 5/5 stars!

Cassiobury Park offers a nice outdoor experience with average walking routes. It can get quite busy, especially during good weather, which sometimes leads to litter being left behind. The park features a convenient coffee house and toilet facilities, though it's worth noting that both close early in the evening. Parking is hassle-free with two hours of free parking available.
Jacob R — Google review
Lovely park near Watford but a natural oasis of calm with plenty woodland walks and canal tow paths to explore. Bluebells are highlight during April/May. Lots to do with kids including train ride and playground. Good café with wide range of food and drink.
John R — Google review
A large park with plenty to explore and see including canal, cafe, woodland, splash park, miniature railway and playground. Although not everything is open all year round. Fairly good accessibility with level pathways around some areas of the park.

The museum showcases exhibits of broad range, including the history of Watford FC and fine art collections. Additionally, visitors can explore the fire museum section situated across the road behind the fire station, featuring vintage and modern fire engines displays with equipment, uniform, and photo exhibitions of past incidents attended by the brigade.
Visited the fire museum section which is across the road behind the fire station. This was on an open day so there were a range of both vintage and modern fire engines on display. Inside the museum building there were displays of equipment, uniforms and photos of incidents attended by the brigade. Well worth a visit.

This place is fabulous. I always make time between working to go and have a little look round at the displays and in the gallery at the art displays. Fantastic informative staff

Really enjoyed the WFC "100 Years at The Vic" exhibition, well curated, lots of interesting content. All the other general local history exhibits were well worth a look too.

Sad that the Museum site is going to be developed. This week is your last chance to visit this iconic Benskin's building before it moves to a new home. On Saturday 7th October from 12-1pm it will be the venue for Watford Writers as part of the Watford Fringe Arts Festival. You will be able to hear and meet local writers reading their short stories and poetry. It will be one of the last events ever held in this historical building. Museum entrance is free. Tickets for the reading on 7th October can be bought online or at the door for £4.00.

Not the grandest museum in the world. When you do not have anything else to do on a lazy afternoon this is a nice place to go, if you're in watford.

Theaters
Watford Palace Theatre is a local producing theatre that offers a variety of performances including drama, dance, musicals, and pantomime in an Edwardian auditorium. The 600-seat Grade II listed building has been recently modernized to provide high-quality theater shows for both audiences and artists. Its impressive front features bands of white limestone and brickwork alternating with two domes covered in copper, giving it a historical and grand appearance.
Absolutely beautiful theatre!! Attended here several times with a friend and each time I was delighted by the friendly and caring staff, gorgeous sets, tasty drinks, and sleek yet comfortable lounging areas. The theatre itself is luxurious, clearly well loved and maintained with extremely comfortable seats to watch the performance from.
Icarus C — Google review
This suburban theatre located in Watford town centre surrounded a variety of shops. The theatre is quite spacious, and seats are comfortable. I enjoyed the show and found the theatre friendly. Would definitely recommend it.
Donna — Google review
I visited Watford Palace Theatre to watch Sidhu Vee’s show, and it was a great experience! The show was fantastic, and the food and drinks were fairly priced. The seating could have been a bit more comfortable. The theatre has its charm, but a few updates could enhance the overall experience as the theatre has more of an old-school vibe compared to venues in central London.
Neha S — Google review
Walked passed this theatre and noticed a poster with Tiny dancer the musical a tribute to Elton John. As we both like his music oh and Reg Dwight came from that area well we couldn't resist booking. Wow what a fantastic evening. And Tom Watson was a superb Elton John if I didn't have my glasses on it could have been him lol. His band was also excellent. Yes it's an old theatre and leg room for me was tight but it didn't distract from a superb evening entertainment and really enjoyed it

Went to the panto with the family. We go every year. This year was excellent, well worked out, lots of gags for both the kids and the adults. The story of aladdin ran along well and there was some tuneful musical numbers. A special mention to Terry who plays the Widow Twankey. (Dame) great one liners and slapstick comedy. My children loved the show, as did us and we've aleady booked for next year's panto Jack and the beanstalk. Well done Watford Palace. Keep up the good work.
Jonathan P — Google review
Excellent theatre, well run, excellent staff. I have no complaints, except for about the patrons. Late arrivals, going in and out for drinks during the performance instead of waiting for the interval, and recording during the performance again not waiting till afterwards. All very disrespectful of the artists that are trying to put on a show. It shouldn't be allowed.
Gareth — Google review
**Edit** Another visit on a cooler night. Good show again. Overall stars remain the same. Everything just nice. Forgot on last review to say staff good too** Went to see Susie Dent for an afternoon show on the hottest day in September! Great show. Highly recommend the show. The venue.. lovely old building. Can't fault the atmosphere. Bar area small for the size of the venue. There is another area but it was closed. Absolutely boiling. There was a fan somewhere but not powerful enough to make a massive impact. They have a variety of shows. Well worth a visit
A C — Google review
Booked seats in the upper circle. Was a good seat but was told that we could move to the Circle If we wanted, so we did. View from both was brilliant and the panto was funny, entertaining and enjoyable for young and old. My favourite part was the audience participation and 'Fanny G' was amazing

Cheslyn House & Gardens is a 3.5-acre park located in Watford, offering dog-friendly paths, sculptures, an aviary, and a pond. The gardens were established by architect Henry Colbeck and his wife Daisy in the 1940s and are filled with exotic and local plants collected from their travels around the world. The property features pathways for exploration, making it ideal for families with children who enjoy outdoor adventures.
Lovely place to spend some time in peace and quiet, surrounded by flowers and covered by trees. Observe some birds and enjoy the lawn. The only disadvantage is the tiny parking space, but can't really complain about anything else. We will definitely be coming back.

Visited during a weekend. Limited parking space inside. I’ve parked outside. 5min drive from Watford city center. Perfect little garden to roam.
Pasan M — Google review
What a wonderful find! Beautifully maintained gardens with paths, statues, arbors, quiet benches, koi pond and the day we went an exhibit from a local artist. Small, quaint and quiet -- would be great for a picnic, easy walk, etc.
Mary M — Google review
Very nice little garden and house, they have fish pond and birds cage with some nice birds inside. Very quiet and calm with some benches to set down and relax. Small car park which makes easier for people with kids and old age people to visit this place. Some benches around to set down and have a rest.
Sagvan K — Google review
It's a lovely, well maintained house and gardens. Great way to kill off an hour by strolling round and seeing all the beautiful individual plants there. Would be a good place to come and have a picnic in the summer time with the children. When we visited today in spring there were a load of beautiful flowers that have blossomed so I can only imagine what it will be like in the summer. Also the pond has some rather large koi and on closer inspection there were hundreds, if not thousands of tadpoles swimming around today! The aviary is lovelyo, featuring a nice selection of birds, of which some were quite friendly and came quite close to inspect me 😁 The best part about Cheslyn Gardens is that it's free :)
Cheung F — Google review
I love Cheslyn Gardens, my favourite place in Watford. Lovely wooded walk with an abundance of plants, places to sit and relax or watch the variety of birds or of you're lucky a fox or such. Visit the aviary and pond with the koi carp (and lots of tadpoles at this time of year). There's a small car park and there is a little toilet available if required (a garden outhouse is a better description so don't expect 5 stars inside) in which the toilet and sink are clean though it is a little pungent and cobwebby. I'm so very glad they've never been tempted to turn the house into a coffee shop, much better left the way it is. For the next 4 weeks (posting this 11th May 24) there's a small exhibition of a local artist being shown in Cheslyn House. Another reason for a visit to the garden. Open 10-4pm I believe and the artist herself is there to talk to if you like. Why not pop down for a look.
Neil G — Google review
A beautiful hidden gem that I've returned to several times over the past 20 years or so. The gardener does a fabulous job keeping the garden looking beautiful. There is a bird aviary and a fish pond that seems to fascinate the kids. Beyond the pond are winding paths that weave through the trees, attracting wildlife such as bees and mice. We spent about an hour exploring and taking photos of the many colourful flowers. Free to enter. There is a small car park plus a toilet on site.
Nicole M — Google review
Tucked away in a quiet corner of Watford, these hidden formal gardens showcase exceptional rose varieties and seasonal color. The Edwardian glasshouse is home to delicate orchids and tropical plants. Entry is free, though it's only open on weekdays from 9 to 3.

Movie & TV Tours
Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, also known as the Harry Potter Studio Tour, offers a magical experience for visitors of all ages. Located in Hertfordshire, this tour takes you through the actual film sets where the popular Harry Potter movies were made. You can explore iconic locations like Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, and Platform 9¾ while learning about special effects and seeing authentic props from the films.
Wow... Just wow. Firstly to be honest I'm not really a harry potter fan but this tour was incredible. Really fascinating to see the sets, see how they created effects. How things looked and were used and refused. How creatures were made. How makeup was done. And everything in between. The system at the studios is really slick also .moving your through different areas with lots to see and do. The activity books were a great touch also with hidden things to find along the way. The food as decent and not especially expensive. The shop at the end was reasonably priced too and huge. But the highlight has to be the staff. They have so much knowledge of the sets and props. And are only too happy to share stories and tips. They were amazing. We will be back.

Tried to get the Deluxe tickets for years and finally managed to get them for my Birthday. One of the best presents ever I have given myself. I can stress enough how happy, friendly, helpful and amazing every single member of the staff are. Special kudos to Nick, who was our guide for the day. Giving us all the details and hidden secrets about the movies and the sets. Some of the sets, if not all will just take your breath away. Whether you are a fan or not, it’s worth visiting to learn about how much effort it actually takes to make these things happen. Animatronics, sets that took months to build just so it’s seen for a few minutes. Visited during the Magical Mischief, so there were some specific props and decorations. As a perk of the Deluxe tickets, you get to skip most of the queues, and a few nice extras I won’t spoil. They let you roam around and do the tour again on your own. Spent about 10 hours in the studio, and if I could I’d have stayed for the night! Thanks again for making this one of the best birthdays ever!
Abel M — Google review
I recently revisited the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in London, and even though it was my second time (my first visit was five years ago), it still completely blew me away. This time, I brought my mom and dad along — and it was extra special because my mom and I are huge Harry Potter fans! First tip: book your tickets well in advance — at least 2 to 3 weeks ahead of time. You cannot buy tickets at the entrance, and they do sell out quickly. It’s definitely on the pricier side, but 100% worth every penny. Getting there is straightforward: we took a train from Euston Station to Watford Junction (they run every 15 minutes), and from there, a free shuttle bus takes you directly to the studios. One thing I really appreciated this time around was the Spanish audioguide we got for my parents, since they don’t speak English. It was fantastic — really well done, and made the whole experience much more immersive for them. The tour starts with a short, 15-minute guided intro, then you’re free to explore at your own pace. We stayed about 3 hours but honestly could have spent 6 easily. There’s so much to see — original sets, props, costumes, behind-the-scenes secrets, and tons of interactive features. There’s even a cafe halfway through the tour where you can grab a bite and recharge before diving back into the magic. Whether it’s your first time or a return visit, the studio tour is packed with detail and wonder. For any Harry Potter fan, it’s truly an unforgettable experience.
Yair J — Google review
Let me start with I am a huge Potter fan after reading the books and watching the movies. I am generally not a fan of theme parks, however. This place was amazing. I felt like it was an all encompassing Potter Museum of which you must visit. So many memories will flood back seeing costumes, sets and props. Highly recommended!!
Mr. H — Google review
If you are a Harry Potter fan and you happen to be in London you absolutely cannot miss visiting the Harry Potter studios. You will immerse yourself in some scenes from the film and you will be able to experience them in first person. Absolutely enchanting place, kind and present staff during the tour. Very well stocked shop. Beautiful

Visiting the Harry Potter Studios in London was an absolutely wonderful experience—a must for any fan of the saga. Walking through the actual sets, seeing the incredible attention to detail, and listening to the behind-the-scenes stories was pure magic. From the moment you enter to the very last room, everything is designed to transport you into the Wizarding World. It’s not just a tour, it’s an emotional journey through the legacy of the films. Truly unforgettable!
Eleonora T — Google review
Definitely worth a visit if your a harry potter fan. Lots of sets used in the films to look at some you can walk through. Very large shop that has all your bits and bobs for you're perfect little witch or wizard. Shop also takes CASH!!! Really good food in the food hall area bit pricey but all looked good.
Christopher O — Google review
An absolute must-visit for Harry Potter fans of all ages! I was genuinely amazed by the scale of the exhibition and the sheer number of props and original items from the films. It’s a truly magical and unforgettable experience. We spent nearly six hours inside (yes, really! 😄), so I highly recommend setting aside the whole day to enjoy it fully. Midway through, there’s a cozy café where you can grab lunch—and of course, try the iconic Butterbeer. (Unfortunately, it is non alcoholic lemonade :D ) It's absolutely worth the money. Just be prepared to spend a bit more in the souvenir shop—there are so many tempting and beautifully made items. Also, getting there is super easy from London: a quick train ride followed by a shuttle bus that takes you straight to the studios.

The staff was kind and attentive. We had the bottomless brunch which is a good price for the time you're there and the food you can have. Weirdly the desert came out the same time as the mains which was odd, meaning the melty pancakes didn't have the desired effect or heat by the time we ate them, but the food was tasty and the cocktails well made.. we never reached the bottom without a new one waiting 👍🏼 9/10

Such a beautiful spot to eat, grab a drink, and have a good chat. It’s got a rustic charm but still feels super elegant and well taken care of. The food was great overall—though the pork chops were a bit overcooked and chewy. Service could’ve been smoother; we had to wave a few times to get someone’s attention. Seemed like they might’ve been short-staffed and doing their best. Other than that, it was a fantastic experience. Definitely going back!

The only small criticism i have was that the music was a little too loud, which did make the table conversation a little difficult. Now, the positive stuff! Fantastic food, I recommend the salt & pepper belly pork hanging kebab. To be honest, though, all the food we ordered was fantastic. We visited for lunch, but sadly, the lamb kebab had a foul taste, so I couldn’t eat anything from my plate. When I raised the issue with the waiter, he just stared at me blankly without saying a word. He walked away, only to return with the card payment reader to charge us the full amount—no apology or acknowledgment whatsoever. The service was incredibly rude, and I wouldn’t recommend dining here. To the management: your waiters could benefit from some basic etiquette training, and rather than focusing on large portions, attention should be paid to the freshness of the meat.

Have lived in Watford for 12 years and visited this place for the first time today. Amazing food and great service and had the best hummus and baba ganoush ever - freshly made at the restaurant. The hospitality was amazing - I will definitely be visiting again. My entire family absolutely enjoyed everything we ordered. Highly recommend this place for food and hospitality.

The food was really good and tastefull. The meat was just a bit dry, but the taste was still good. The people who work here are really friendly.

Food was amazing! The iftari menu is highly recommended. Succulent tender meat. Tasty salad. Heart warming soup and a lot more. Generous portions. Very personalised service. Totally stuffed.

The food was okay. The restaurant was empty around 7pm. The table setting was poor, except you like artificial flower pots and old cutlery (fork and knife) that doesn’t match on a serviette. We had starters and main but the waitress told us to keep our cutleries after the starters so we could use them for the main. I found it surprising seeing we were the only ones at the restaurant and our plates were being cleared. The milkshake was watery but tasted nice. Food was affordable. The restaurant didn’t look like the pictures, maybe because we didn’t go upstairs to the shisha lounge. There’s no parking space, you’ll have to look for a spot in the inner roads. I’ll say my experience was a 5.

Popped in for a lunch before heading to harry potter studios. Had the lunch meal deal - wrap chips and a drink for £6 which was a bargain. Also ordered a couple of small starters. Food was lovely and some delicious baclava to follow. Would highly recommend. Great value, great food, friendly staff and warm atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone to experience this for themselves

My favourite restaurant in Watford. The atmosphere is cozy, complete with the soothing notes of Lebanese music and tasteful decor that immediately sets the tone for an enjoyable meal. Starting with the baba ghanoush and calamari, I found the flavors to be authentic and satisfying. The baba ghanoush comes with sliced pitta bread and is my favourite dish on the menu. For the main course, I opted for the chicken wrap with salad. The portion was generous, and the blend of flavors was both hearty and delicious. Wrapping up the meal with baklava was the perfect sweet. A classic treat that didn't disappoint. The reasonable bill that came to £20 per person. It's rare to find a restaurant that offers such a genuine taste of a cuisine at such an affordable price point.

Haven't visited for a very long time - what a shame! The shisha area has been given a beautiful makeover and looks lovely. The service was excellent, not rushed or too slow. Our food was delicious, so fresh! We had the passionfruit shisha which was so smooth and tasty. Had a wonderful chilled evening. Thank you Nanas! We will return.
