The Battle of Britain Bunker, located in Uxbridge, United Kingdom, was a crucial RAF Fighter Command center during World War II. Today, it stands as a heritage attraction managed by the Hillingdon Council and offers pre-booked tours on weekdays and some weekends. The bunker served as the nerve center for coordinating aircraft operations during the Battle of Britain. Visitors can experience the historic significance of this site firsthand, with guided tours led by retired RAF personnel providing insights into its role in wartime operations.
A fantastic historic site with a rich collection of artifacts from the Battle of Britain. The museum offers unique insights into wartime operations, including rare items like the 1940 RAF Christmas menu. There’s free parking, a small shop, and a café, making for a convenient visit. While the RAF Museum in London has a larger collection, this bunker provides a more immersive experience of the command center's role in history. A highly recommended visit, especially for aviation and WWII enthusiasts 🤓

Goodness this place is a gem! I’m not too far away but happened on it after a visit to the lido. £12 for the guided tour (there are lots of discounts too but I didn’t qualify for any). The tour itself was a mine of information not only about the Battle of Britain but the build up to the war and in particular the development of RADAR and communication systems. The bunker is huge, 76 steps down (and back up). I highly recommend the tour as you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions. You can only imagine the state of nervous excitement, fear and energy when this place was in use. After the tour you can look round the exhibits in the modern ground level hall which has a cafe shop and toilets. There are good facilities for younger visitors too. The flags outside represent the nationalities of those who took part in the Battle of Britain.

Though the number of rooms that are publicly accessible are few, those that are available are very interesting. Daisy, our guide, did an excellent job of recreating a moment in time during the Battle of Britain and was able to explain a fairly complicated system in an interesting and entertaining manner. Beware the seventy six steps that lead down into the bunker but you can go as fast or slow as necessary and there is a bench half way, if you need to take a rest. The other rooms on the bunker contain memorabilia and documents from people involved in the Second World War. You can travel to the bunker by taking the Metropolitan line all the way to Uxbridge in Zone 6, which takes around 45 minutes from St Pancras. The entry fee of £12 is very good value.

What a fantastic museum! Excellent booking system; I was given clear directions upon arrival, along with a sticker proving my reservation for the tour. The hour-long tour with the guide was excellent. Lots of information about the Dowding system, air defense in the 1940s, and how the bunker operated. Lovely cafe on site.

Guided tour of the Bunker with an excellent local knowledgeable and passionate Guide (Ian?) supported by his colleague Dave. Followed by a leisurely wander around the Museum and lunch in the Café. Farnham Royal MC &LCC members thoroughly enjoyed the day out!

Fascinating insight to the control centre where a staff of mostly women oversaw Britain's air defence throughout WW2, including the Battle of Britain and D-Day. Knowledgeable and personable guides, well-maintained pocket museum and good cafe.
Andrew C — Google review
Amazing place, especially if you are interested in World War II and the places where key decisions were actually taken that would determine the course of the war. The bunker tour was really worth it, I learned a lot and could make better sense of other prior knowledge I had on the matter.

Hillingdon Court Park is a delightful oasis that perfectly blends recreational activities with natural beauty. This expansive park features well-maintained green spaces, making it an ideal spot for picnics and leisurely strolls. Visitors can enjoy various amenities, including tennis courts, an outdoor gym, and a vibrant children's playground equipped with musical instruments. The park's charming formal gardens and serene woodland areas provide picturesque walking paths where you can immerse yourself in nature.
A large expanse of greenary with glorious trees. Extremely refreshing to visit on a hot summers day. Brilliant for kids to run to their hearts content. Convinient placed and accessible park. Highly recommend.

Love having this huge park right near us and have been coming here for about 6 or 7 years now. Huge grass area, copse of trees in the middle and a play area. They've also put in a path for better accessibility. There's some football pitches local schools seem to use also and tennis courts that can be rented out.
Lucy B — Google review
A wonderful park that is well worth a visit. it has a circular concrete path all the way around and tennis courts.
Onkar S — Google review
A really impressive and surprising park featuring some beautiful old oak trees and presently a very large area dedicated to being grassland which must be great for local ecology. Enjoyed the other open areas and others were picnicking and playing football. A really impressive playground and exercise equipment. The park is broken into different areas thanks to natural inclines and trees and it's shape giving a feeling of space but also shelter from the current hot weather. One of the most impressive parks I've seen recently.

A lovely green space, well maintained and spacious. The children's play area is well developed and even has musical instruments. Check out one of my connected videos to this review for an example of how NOT to play them. 😂

Large well maintained open space off Long Lane, Hillingdon. Children's play area, football pitch, tennis courts and bowls club. Lots of trees in the centre. Paved walking path all the way around, little under 2km.

Massive park, clean. Plenty of space for dogs to play around without bothering anyone.

What a lovely, cosy, welcoming park!! Plenty of things for small and not so young children. Loved the super green area to run and have a picnic too. Not full marks as the playground area could do with some trees to give some shade to those who sit and watch over the little ones.

Bright, modern space with 100-station gym, classes, a stadium track and indoor and outdoor pools.
The complex has a great unheated lido. If you are into cold water swimming/ cold water immersion therapy this is a great place to go. Outside changing cubicles, toilets. The complex has a cafe but if you come for an early swim (7am/8am) bring your own drink in a thermos cup as cafe does not open until 9am

Great pool facility, lovely spin studio, and good cafe. Would be good to have more healthy options in the cafe too for more variety. Ordered on the app and it never got accepted after a long duration, and just got refunded - so the app may be a little pointless to order food on. Parking is quite expensive if there for long durations. Clean, overall nice facility.

I went to my swimming lesson at Hillingdon yesterday. The swimming team are amazing, all three of them. The pool is clean and so the entire leisure Center. It is a pleasure to go there for the swimming lessons. I would recommend it to everyone who is committed to learn how to swim.

Fab place to workout. You can get into your own zone and do your exercise in peace. Everyone’s really approachable and helpful. Padlock only lockers for ladies (no £1/token needed) so have just ordered one off Amazon. Easy parking - 70p for an hour if you’re a resident otherwise if you become a member they incorporate a small parking fee for the whole year in your first membership payment. I’ve just become a member- best thing I’ve done for myself. Treadmills are always available but best to go early so you can workout on the equipment you require. x

Easy to book online, decent sized car park. Kiddies pool appears to integrate with adult splash area so small mixed pool, but suits my granddaughter. Showers close by. Shoe covering dispenser before pool area. Could do with better parent/kiddies changing facilities and cleanliness but that just my opinion. Decent cafe available too
Colin E — Google review
I have noticed that though the kids [including my kid] are progressing well, the focus seems to shift primarily to new joiners, leaving little room for continued improvement for those already doing well. The teaching approach could be more balanced to cater to all levels. I hope the center can adjust to ensure better progression for everyone.
Som M — Google review
Great for kids swimming classes. The changing area is frequently cleaned and kept top notch. Less showers but with people frequently moving in and out it has not been a problem. Parking spaces available just outside and if you use PayByPhone app and add Hillingdon First cars you get discounted parking rates. It costs £0.70 for 1 hour.

The best leisure centre for me! I am always in awe with the nature in front of me whilst running in the treadmill. Cleanliness is well-maintained and staff are polite. The sauna and steam, however, are not available most of the time. They should open until 8pm as most users are working during office hours.

Was very impressed with this park. Felt nice and safe for the kids to play in, a large variety of activities to chose from catering for a wide age range 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 With a cafe that makes the perfect coffee just opposite the playground 😁😁😁 With a skate park or the other end of the park and a little river passage just outside the gates where you cam sit and look at the ducks👀👀👀🦆🦆🦆 Thank you Hillingdon, for a wonderful experience.

It is a lovely area to go and have a walk around. Whilst it's right near the centre of town, it is very good and hiding the large buildings and built up area. It has plenty of seating areas, a play area for children and a small cafe for drinks and food.

Lovely pretty and clean park! Great for walks and picnics and they have a fairly decent playground. It also has a pretty little bandstand. It could certainly be improved but for the most part it is well kept and gets locked at night.

I visited this Park one afternoon and it wasn’t very busy, it is a nice size with plenty to do when there. It is great for youngsters because of the playground and skate park. I am not sure how it is in the evenings but during the day it is pretty nice. Plenty of shrubs, plants and trees so offers a green escape from the hustle and bustle of Uxbridge. Fassnidge Park is situated in the heart of Uxbridge. Fassnidge is a traditional Edwardian formal park which covers four acres and offers a bowling green, tennis courts, playground and skate park. It also provides horticultural interest, with features including shrub beds, ornamental planting and mature trees. @fassnidgepark #uxbridge #bowlinggreen #tenniscourt #skatepark #playground #uxbridgepark #bandstand

Latest: Pavilions christmas market/tinsel town is back. Just as good as usual. The lighting up ceremony for the Christmas lights was very good, including fireworks. The pavilions has some excellent market stalls. Many of them have some excellent bargains. My favourite stall/shop is the one where you can buy olives, hot samosas and middle Eastern spices. The pavilions has stood for 50+ years and only had a roof put on in the late 80's

Pavilions is a old shopping mall with old school causal clothing. They do a load of affordable accessories with good deals with branded items if your on a budget would recommend to shop 😉 right here . Fabulous 👌🏽 choice for retro style or old school causal 2000s 1990s clothes.
Amira R — Google review
Absolute dive of a shipping centre, the owners don't care, there's no maintenance, the shop selection is awful bar a few because they drive small businesses out with high rates and now they want to turn the old Argos site into flats, the current word on the grapevine anyway. No wonder all the big shops want to go to the Chimes. Only good thing about it is the carpark which as a resident is a great price but it shuts early so if you want to go to the cinema or something, you're still better off using the Chimes.
Simon P — Google review
There are hardly any decent shops. If it wasn't for M&S I think this centre would be finished and it makes me sad as it used to be nice. People begging or playing music deters me from going very often. There are too many fast food places and barber shops. It's good to see a police presence occasionally, and on a couple of occasions recently, I have witnessed people shouting for security. I can only assume there are thieves about. Hang onto your bags...
Tina M — Google review
This place took us right back to 80s. Or even 70s. Things look so manual and retro. Sadly Wilko will be joining those closed shops, of which the sight is too familiar these days in high streets and shopping centres. So enjoy while you can. They have everything there, café, discount shops, bakery, jewellers, haberdashery, butchers, everything in a way your grandparents are familiar with.

Lovely new menu. I am vegetarian with a nut allergy. The menu had lots of vegetarian choices that is nut free. Service was great, We went for lunch and it was a little quiet. But a great place for lunch to have a lovely catch with friends without being disturbed. Staff were attentive without being intrusive. There is a great lunch time menu, as well as a set menu and a full dinner menu

Went here for a family meal and I have to say the food was absolutely terrible. We ordered our 3 year old a pizza and when it arrived it was clearly a Chicago town pizza that has been cooked in the microwave. It was inedible. The chips had looked like they had been sat out all day and thrown back into the fryer to heat them up. Our other son had a burger, which was just as awful. The picture attached is how the burger came out before our son started eating it. The roasts we ordered we terrible. Cold, dry and the roast potatoes were rock hard. Won’t be returning here any time soon.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch here to celebrate Mum's birthday. We'd not been before but I can definitely see us coming back. The restaurant, the food and the service were all fantastic. Big thanks to Tom, who looked after us - the perfect mix of friendly, helpful and attentive without coming over to ask "is everything OK?" every five minutes! Thank you!

Haven’t been here for awhile, actually forgot how terrible food was. This time I was served a raw burger and when I showed the bartender she quickly took it back to the kitchen said she was so sorry which is very nice of her but when she returned with my new food, the burger was so overcooked and tasted disgusting. Had a really busy day, so I was really looking forward to having some nice food. I was quite disappointed. The last couple of times I’ve been here, I had seminar experiences but forgot about them until I went there again today It’s a nice place, but definitely a drink is only kind of place

Went to have a gluten free Sunday roast for my birthday. However heating was not working and very cold in the restaurant, long wait for food, no gluten free Yorkshire puddings, roast pork was tough, carrot and suede mash was not mash and only diced. Allergy order was only just caught as was wrong! Waitress did her best and was appreciated.
Mike W — Google review
The pub has a convenient location near a busy road. There is parking and tables outside overlooking river Colne. We went for dinner on Sunday evening and sat inside as it was quite noisy outside. It was busy but we managed to find a table. Service was a bit slow - we about 30 minutes for our food. Unfortunately, they didn't have a few items on the food menu and didn't have the beer we wanted. The food could have been better - the signature burger was dry and I I didn't like the sause. My partners ordered fish and chips, the chips were okay, but the fish needed more flavour. The service was friendly but needs improvement. I was still eating when the waitress approached to take my plate. The hygiene in the toilets also needs improvement - there were tissues all over the floor. Overall, the atmosphere is nice and cosy, and if the food quality, hygiene, and service improve, it would be a great place.

Was lovely and quiet when we came. THE BEST WAITER I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS! MITCH thank you for your service, it was amazing, you made us feel so welcome and at home from the moment we walked in! X 💖💕 Food was delicious! Really fair amount of prawns, wasn’t that keen on the meatballs, tasted basic like I could have made it at home.

We went to celebrate father’s day. Food was very tasty, there is good amount of choices- could be better if more chicken options added in the menu. Staffs are friendly and helpful. You can call for to reserve tables. When we reached the restaurant we’re told that they were fully booked and asked to come back after 30 minutes. When we went back after 40 minutes we got a table. Funny enough we didn’t see that all tables were occupied till the time we were seated, not sure what’s the meaning of “fully booked”. Paid Parking available at the shopping mall.

Really friendly welcome to the restaurant by the man behind the bar who seated us, and our server Maddie was absolutely amazing and paid close attention to my allergies. Even double checking one of the less common ones with the kitchen and actually stopping me from accidentally eating it in a starter as it wasn’t in the description on the menu. She was brilliant and really friendly too. Food arrived in good time and tasted fantastic. Lots of wheat (not gluten) free options to choose from.
Lydia K — Google review
We had a disappointing experience at Bella Italia. We ordered the Funghi pasta without chicken, but what we got was soupy and unappetizing. The pasta was chopped into small pieces and didn't even resemble a proper dish. As for the pizza, we requested one without chicken and ham, to be replaced with buffalo mozzarella. What we received was a stale pizza with mushrooms and buffalo mozzarella—nothing else. There was no other cheese, and the taste was terrible. It was hard to eat and a major letdown. To top it off, no one bothered to check on us or ask how our food was. The lack of attention added to the disappointing experience. Overall, the food quality was really poor, and the service was lacking. We won't be returning.

Visited Saturday 6th April: Our server was Sophie and she was so friendly and attentive. She always made sure we were checked on, and the service was so quick. She is exactly what you would want as the face of a customer service role! Equally the male server in the blue shirt with the glasses was so friendly, and still checked on us even when he was clearly so busy. The gluten free options were vast and Sophie made sure to check my pudding was definitely gluten free. Unfortunately me and my partner witnessed some awful behaviour from one table in particular towards the staff, and the staff were nothing but courteous and professional. Would highly recommend!

Only came for a drink so food is rated in reference to the beer. With a good selection of mainstream larger to choose from, it was nice to not take long to decide what to drink. Unfortunately though, this pub needs to clean their lines more often. Whilst the staff were happy to pour fresh pints for me a few times, making their service great, there was repetitively bits of build up in my glass after every pour. It’s a shame that a pub that must be held to such a high regard in the area lets this slip. Inside was nice and clean, outside needed some cleaning but on a sunny day I understand that it would have been busy during peak hours.

We went here for a delicious Easter Sunday roast. We left with a full stomach and only slight ear ache. The pub is in a lovely location and we had a relaxing walk along the canal before coming here. The food was all top quality. The meal was slightly tainted by the small bald man shouting karaoke into a mic turned up so much it was distorting. We were seated far enough away that at the start of the meal it was background music but by the end it was quite loud! It wasn’t a deal breaker but equally not the atmosphere for a relaxing meal. I’m unsure if he is always there or maybe just an Easter ‘treat’. Will return another Sunday and see!

Thw serving staff seem to have changed since i was last here. It now has more of a family feel. The menu remains unchanged. Nonna Rosa does the most reliable steak. I highly recommend their fillet Rossini and their filet pepe. Often, steak can be hit or miss, but not at Nonna Rosa. Aside from that, they are a quality Italian restaurant. The decor is traditional and there is a high level of cleanliness

Beefeater Uxbridge is a well-established, family-friendly restaurant known for its delicious steaks, burgers, and seafood. The 8oz fillet steaks are particularly popular as they are aged for at least 30 days and grilled to perfection. The meals come with chunky triple cooked chips, crispy flat mushroom, juicy grilled tomatoes, and peppercorn sauce. Guests have praised the warm welcome from the staff and the attentive service provided by waitresses like Candi.
Went to the beefeater in Uxbridge today with my family we were warmly greeted by our waitress her name was Candi once Candi had seated us and given us our menu’s Candi took our drinks order’s once Candi brought our drinks over I had a Coke Zero which did not taste right Candi replaced my drink straight away and apologised then proceeded to take our food order’s the food was very tasty and we thoroughly enjoyed all the food we received we all had a very relaxed and enjoyable meal and our waitresses service was outstanding even the manager Kelly was very friendly and we was warmly welcomed by all staff we will definitely be returning again

Kacy was very polite and right in the beginning informed us of longer wait for orders but overall experience was very average. Daughters steak was nice but my chicken although cooked inside it didn't look outside, basically very bland, definitely not chargrilled kind. ribs were fine but not necessarily the freshest. Probably our last visit unless desperate for food with no alternatives. Not the worst experience but plenty of better places to choose from in the area.

Ate here as it's next to the premier inn we were staying at. I was pleasantly surprised at the speed, quality, and price of food options. Decided on the barbecue platter, and all the meats were either good or excellent. The only disappointment was the coleslaw, which was the basic catering type. It lacked a little atmosphere as It looked like most of the customers were from the associated hotel. Breakfast next morning was well up to standard.

Very poor, the food has gotten worse but increased in price. I ordered the mixed grill, which was hardly what I would call a mixed grill, with near inedible gammon & "chargrilled" chicken. The service has always been bad but, has declined even more, with rude & abrupt staff, who do not hide their disdain for you daring to want to eat in their pit. Asking for any help in settling up the bill is also a big no no here, with no patience or sympathy whatsoever. We have often gone here for family birthdays over the years but, have put up with enough & will no longer eat here again.

Kelly and Frank are fantastic. Ask for them to give you a hand. Their service is unrivalled. It's a great place for grabbing a few drinks with friends and getting a bite to eat. You'll only be disappointed if you ask for orange juice! (lol) Good times!

Meal was mediocre at best, not much there for the price. Staff were on the ball and polite enough. Room for improvement foodwise. Was okay.

An average restaurant with very pleasent, frendly and professional staff. Good atmosphere. Breakfasts were good but I was not super happy with 2 dinners - food doesn't have any taste - burger and sirloin stake did not impress me at all.

It was an absolute shocking experience. Waited over 1h 30 minutes for food to be tod they had ran out of some stuff. We had to wait 45mins just to get a drink so went to the bar ourselves to get drinks. The manager was in the kitchen cooking with no hair net or chef whites on. Saw one of the chef's using their teeth to open a packet of pate. Would never go back
