My cultural culinary roots are very much tied to the Fish and Chips takeaway. As simplistic as the experience can be, it can also, given the correct venue, offer an experience that pull on the heart strings. A fish and chip shop like Dad’s Lane Fish Bar took my expectations to a new level. First of all, it has a restaurant, which is themed to match its dishes. The service is friendly, warm and chatty with its Greek Cypriot roots.
The owner informed me that the venue has been running for 15 years. It is obvious to see why. The food is sensational. Everything is prepared fresh. The fish is succulent. The chips have bounce and, given my lean, the peas had substance.
I don’t remember enjoying fish and chips this much for a long long time. Dad’s Lane Fish Bar is up there with the mighty Bedders, arguably Birmingham’s finest. Thank you for offering a memorable experience.
