Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Kenilworth Castle and Elizabethan Garden is a historic site with a rich royal history. Originally built in 1120, it was later owned by Robert Dudley, Queen Elizabeth's favored suitor. The castle features architectural and political alterations made by Dudley, which are still visible today. Visitors can explore the red sandstone ruins and enjoy views of the Warwickshire landscape that Queen Elizabeth would have seen during her visits. The castle also boasts an aviary, marble fountain, and carved arbours.
Absolutely amazing place to visit. I've been to the walk outside a few times, which is amazing for a stroll with the dogs or a nice summer day, but inside, wow, it's just fantastic. So much more than just ruins. The lady at the gate was friendly and helpful, and even the people in the café were wonderful and polite. I will be visiting again and maybe taking a picnic. It's just a lovely, lovely place on a lovely sunny day.

Beautiful, serene, atmospheric. What a lovely day we spent here on a sunny Saturday. The children absolutely loved it, especially the landscape which they were running around and exploring. Your imagination can run wild here. It feels so special, I feel so lucky it's on my doorstep. A shout out to all the staff and volunteers, too. They were so warm, friendly and accommodating. I really appreciate all the hard work they do. Can't want to return.

Beautiful and well maintained castle ruin in the peaceful Kenilworth town. Great destination for a family day out as the ruin itself offers plenty of spaces for the adventurous to explore. The vast green space and garden around the castle offer stunning views to the countryside. The car park is only 2 mins walk from opposite the castle and it's £6 for whole day parking or £4 for 4 hours, but if you are a member of the English Heritage then it's free.
Yi W — Google review
Kenilworth is a beautifully romantic ruined castle with lovely Elizabethan gardens. Surrounded by beautiful countryside. Sadly, we didn't have enough time to look around the gatehouse. So we hope to return at a later date to do so, and walk the paths that we could see winding through the surrounding area. Most definitely worth the visit.

Museum
Specialty Museums
The Coventry Transport Museum, located in the heart of Coventry City Centre, is a state-of-the-art museum that offers an extensive collection of British-made road transport. With over 200 bicycles, 100 motorcycles, and 240 cars and commercial vehicles on display, it's a paradise for motor enthusiasts and those interested in gaining comprehensive knowledge about transportation.
Well worth a visit, especially off peak during the week. You have time to take it all in and properly spend time appreciating the exhibits. The land speed simulator is totally worth it, it's only £3 each per adult! I wasn't able to get a photo unfortunately, but it's a proper state of the art ride system. I've seen much worse in big theme parks, absolutely give it a go. The thing I most appreciated was that yes, most cars have been polished up for presentation, but look inside and most interiors are in as-found condition. Some cars are still in as-found too! Preserved, but not restored. It's haunting but connects you to history more than a polished up exhibit. It seems that some exhibits are still in operational condition too. Staff are friendly, but not intrusive at all, and are available to answer questions. I like how you're routed, first of all through the ages of motor transport, they should absolutely keep that one way route, hopefully next time I visit the interactive exhibits will be working. You can also try on some items of clothing, however I do wish there were some interactive exhibits geared towards adult visitors. Overall, a top notch visit and the museum really does give Beaulieu a run for it's money. A must visit.

Super place to visit a vast layout covering the history of transport from the very first hobby horse bikes to cars that broke the land speed record. Pushbike's of all ages, cars and motorbikes that will take you down memory lane including some commercial vehicles. All arranged in a very easy to navigate around, including some areas that you can stop and have a picnic before completing the tour and end up at the shop and cafe.

The museum, formerly known as the Museum of British Road Transport, is dedicated to showcasing the history of the automotive and transport industries. Coventry is known as the heart of the British automotive industry, and the museum holds the largest publicly owned collection of British road transport vehicles. It was opened in 1980 to celebrate Coventry’s rich history and contribution to the development of the transport and automotive industries. The museum houses over 240 cars and commercial vehicles, 100 motorcycles, and 200 bicycles, offering a comprehensive insight into the evolution of road transport in Britain. Key exhibits include the British jet-powered cars, Thrust2 and ThrustSSC, which set land speed records in 1983 and 1997, respectively. The museum also features royal vehicles, including the official limousines of Queen Mary and King George V.

£15 advance ticket for this maffis museum that I didn't even see all in 1.5 hours is a good price. When you start, go left, they have a big exhibit of cars and few bikes. Cars are in two sections. Then the actual museum starts off with few bikes , but definitely interesting. You can see various designs, and a couple of cars. I didn't see it all due to time restraints, but surely planning to come back as the ticket is an annual pass.
Ondra V — Google review
Coventry Transport Museum is a fantastic destination for anyone interested in the history of transport, especially the city’s deep-rooted connection to the British automotive industry. The museum houses one of the largest collections of British-made road transport in the world, featuring everything from bicycles and motorcycles to classic cars, buses, and record-breaking speed machines. One of the biggest highlights of the museum is the Land Speed Simulator, which provides an exhilarating experience of what it feels like to break the sound barrier. It’s an exciting and immersive attraction that brings to life the speed and power of record-breaking vehicles like ThrustSSC and Thrust2, both of which are proudly displayed at the museum. The exhibits are well-curated, with a great mix of historical information, interactive displays, and stunning vehicle restorations. The museum does an excellent job of telling the story of Coventry’s crucial role in the evolution of transport, from its early days as a hub for bicycle production to its impact on the global automotive industry. One of the standout aspects of the museum is its staff. They are incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to share fascinating insights about the exhibits. Their enthusiasm for transport history is evident, making the visit even more engaging and informative. The museum is also very family-friendly, with plenty of interactive elements to keep children entertained. Whether you're a car enthusiast, a history buff, or just looking for an interesting day out, Coventry Transport Museum offers something for everyone. Overall, Coventry Transport Museum is a must-visit attraction in the Midlands. With its impressive collection, engaging displays, exciting simulator, and fantastic staff, it’s an unforgettable experience that showcases the best of British transport history. Highly recommended!

Excellent museum. I've been coming here since I was about 3 years old & now visited with my own 3 year old twins + my 8 year old. They all loved the place. A lot has changed, but still the museum I have loved for years. We will be back again, thank you!
Chris D — Google review
Excellent place to visit if you are in Coventry, right in the city centre, the history of transport is very well explained and carried out. It can take you from 2 to 3 hours to go around, depending on your passion for cars and their evolution. It is a bit expensive but I think the quality of the exhibition makes it worth it.

Gastropub
Nestled in the charming town of Kenilworth, The Queen & Castle is a delightful gastropub that combines modern elegance with traditional warmth. This beautifully refurbished pub features a sleek white decor and offers a seasonal menu inspired by British and Mediterranean cuisine. With its inviting courtyard and garden, it’s an ideal spot for any occasion—be it a romantic dinner, a lively gathering with friends, or a cozy family Sunday roast (pets welcome!).
Was in the area hence thought to try it out. Period property with load of character. Ample parking space which you need to validate at the venue for it to be complimentary. Food is great with plenty of choices and the staff is flexible and friendly. The venue is also pet friendly. Really cater all walks of life. And we finished the food (even the kids) that just says it all. Thank you

Went for lunch on bank holiday Monday. Car parking is free but limited and we were very lucky to get a space. Be warned in peak periods! Very friendly service. Food was great, but took some time to arrive. Cocktails were excellent. I would certainly go back.

Excellent food in a welcoming atmosphere. The staff is kind and professional. It has a large car park and inside/outside tables, much appreciated on sunny days. The dirty burger is really good. We had different dishes like chicken leek and cheddar pie, pan-roasted lamb rump, panzanella salad with beef filet. All were very tasty and happily eaten.

We had a nice lunch here with a deal on mains. The layout and feel is very nice and the food was to a good standard. Stuart looked after us very well and was attentive.

Had a lovely time at the Queen and Castle, we stopped by for lunch during a weekday and were pleased to easily make a booking and have free parking given Kenilworth can get quite busy! Stuart was our waiter and was fantastic, very amicable and friendly, and helpful in sharing what specials there were and generally just being quite a bubbly vibrant character which made the visit all the more pleasant. The atmosphere is fabulous and the decor too! Well worth the visit and the food was absolutely incredible, I had the linguine and honestly think it was the best seafood linguine I’ve tasted in a while, my highest compliments to the chef!

Fine dining restaurant
The Cross in Kenilworth is a charming pub and restaurant that has been awarded a Michelin star for its high-quality cooking. Originally an inn from the 19th century, it has been renovated to showcase its original features. The establishment offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with friendly service and a terrace garden for guests to enjoy. The menu features creative British contemporary cuisine made with the finest local ingredients by award-winning chefs.
I really enjoyed my lunch here. As advertised, my experience was relaxed and refined. A complementary cheese snack and bread were provided. Service is on the slower, more relaxed side, giving you time to savour each bite. Dishes were presented beautifully, flavours were well-varied, and portion sizes were perfect. I will definitely be returning to try out more!

We went here as a treat for our Wedding Anniversary, they had a card on our table which was a lovely touch. The staff were friendly and helpful and made you feel welcome. This was our first time at a Mitchell Star restaurant and we were not disappointed, everything was cooked lovely and the care and attention to detail was appreciated. The portions were small but tasty as you would expect with fine dining. Would definitely recommend for a treat, we had the al la Carte menu which consisted of a starter, main and dessert.

We were blown away by the food quality. Everything was developed to perfection. The courses are tiny but you won't leave the restaurant hungry. The service was impeccable. The atmosphere relaxed. Very satisfied with the price quality relationship.

Top notch, a fantastic lunch experience. Staff are friendly and attentive.
Alan B — Google review
Nice food, really delicious, but I can't give more than three stars for the service when cutlery is simply placed on the table—not on a napkin, not on a tablecloth, just directly on the table. Thank goodness it's not on the floor. Do they wipe the table before placing the cutlery? They brush it with a brush that's been used who knows how many times before?
Anton S — Google review
This is a really outstanding restaurant. One which I have visited several times. Food and service have both been exceptional on every visit. Even at 2.30pm on a Sunday when they were beginning to clean down the kitchen, food and service were immaculate. Have brought my infant baby along several times and we were always made to feel very comfortable. It's really worth a try, you will not be disappointed. For the experience and quality, I'd say it's good value.
Charles N — Google review
Had a lovely meal here, getting the lunch menu. The starters were lovely, and soup was very nice although maybe a little too rich. The mains were incredible, and the desserts were also great. Service was good but took some time, but the overall experience was great!
Ollie R — Google review
Food was excellent and we had some excellent wines. Staff were very friendly and attentive as individuals but unfortunately the team didn't seem to be working together at times. We were offered a drink to start but barely had time for a couple of sips before the first course and glass of wine came out so we had to rush this. At other points food was coming out before the wine. Seems picky but these are the details you expect with a Michelin star.

The Remains of St Mary's Abbey is a charming and compact archaeological site that offers a captivating ambiance. Its size allows for quick exploration, yet it remains intriguing and full of history. The serene graveyard and picturesque trees further enhance the atmosphere surrounding this historical gem. Despite the majority of the abbey being lost to time, its preservation efforts are commendable.
The remains of this abbey are in the grounds of St Nicholas's Church so they mingle amongst the grave and memorial stones. A priory was built here in 1124, same time as nearby Kenilworth Castle was built. St Nicholas's Church was built in 1291. Gaining wealth, the priory became an abbey in 1447 but it was signed over to Henry the VIII in 1538. The abbey was in ruins by 1700. The ruins are dotted around and it won't take long to walk around them, but is worth going to see.

The remains of theabbey have been incorporated into the graveyard for the church. The gatehouse is still standing, plus a few internal and external walls. There's free parking (for 2 hours), a playpark for the little ones and a small lake
Neil C — Google review
This is a lovely albeit small ruin. It doesn't take long to explore but is certainly very atmospheric and interesting. The beautiful trees and peaceful graveyard surrounding it just adds to the ambience. I'm thankful they've put in the effort to retain this piece of history, even if most of the Abbey no longer survives. It's free to visit as it's just part of the public park, so you can go whenever you want.

Make a pit stop in Kenilworth and head to The Gauntlet for a delightful evening meal. Arriving just before 5pm, when their food service begins, the bar staff promptly provided menus and took our order. Our drinks arrived swiftly, and we didn't have to wait long for our food. My wife opted for the lasagna while I tried the hickory BBQ burger - both dishes were delectable.
This has to be one of the best Sunday roasts I’ve ever had. The quality, taste and value was unreal. The service was super friendly and without a doubt we’ll be back and would most definitely encourage others to go and give a try.

RockinWarren played live at the Gauntlet last night. When we arrived there were families enjoying food, there were friends having drinks. The venue is a heart of the community type of public house serving food, drinks and providing entertainment. We really enjoyed playing at the pub, the clientele were very friendly. The staff were nice, the pub clean including the toilets. I would recommend any band or artist to play here if they get a chance. Anyone living in Kenilworth this place is a must, a place that deserves support from the local commnity. We hope to back playing at the Gauntlet in 2024. Thank you for having us

It was a great place but these days you get the vibe no one wants you there you will be stood waiting at the bar for 5 minutes and no staff will be in sight and then they act surprised to see you trying to buy a drink and i just get the feeing the customers are a burden making the staff have to appear and actually do there job and the hygiene of the place isnt the best under the tables is dirty like no one has cleaned under there in weeks over all just bring back the old land lord she actually had a clue what she was doing

Thanks to all the staff for a great family celebration!

We had an 80th Birthday gathering here for my grandad and it was fantastic! Elliott and the team could not have been more helpful, nothing was too much, and they were all very friendly. The pub is beautifully maintained, clean and tidy with a lovely outdoor area. Facilities were all good, and buffet provided was great for all the picky eaters we brought along. Dog friendly and kid friendly was also an added bonus! We will definitely be back for family functions in the future. Massive thanks to Elliot and Co!

Lovely place 😍 went with my cousin for a girls date. We had one cocktail which was lovely and strong 🍸🍹 then I had the Lamb, which fell off the bone 🤤 definitely recommend, not much veg and potatoes with it, so we ordered an extra side of dauphinoise potatoes to share too. My cousin had a chicken dish, she enjoyed hers. And also some hallumi to share. Overall very nice place, food definitely good! Would go again for sure.

Enjoyed an early Father's Day dinner here and surprised my husband with this restaurant but unknown to me, he had been wanting to visit! We had the calamari and camembert for starters, both being delicious. For mains, I went for the goats cheese and caramelised onion pizza with my husband choosing the cod. As I can't resist anything that includes truffle, I also went for a side of the truffle fries. Both kids went for pizza from the children's menu with my daughter going for the build your own - she was provided with a base, cheese, tomato sauce and 2 toppings of her choice (plus a chef's hat, fun touch) and the pizza was cooked after she decorated it. I was too full for pudding but my husband treated himself to a liqueur coffee and mini pudding. Great service and good atmosphere.

Thank you for such a lovely evening – we’ll definitely be back!

We came after seeing the Tuesday steak night advertised on their website. On arrival we were not given any indication through menus or staff that they were doing steak night. We picked other options on the menu, around twenty minutes later we ordered our food except no one mentioned they had run out of both of these. No one told us this when they sat us down. Our food took well over an hour to arrive to which we had now been sat for an hour and a half. The food was lovely, and the steaks were cooked so well. But the service and wait time was extreme. From working in hospitality I would’ve expected some sort of discount or complimentary drinks while we had to wait over an hour we would’ve respected being told there was a wait on food so we knew from the beginning. Please see this as feedback as I understand and saw it was a busy service but I think we should’ve been communicated with and at least offered some sort of a gesture of goodwill.

The food served at Thai Kitchen is consistently delicious, and the staff are known for their friendly and helpful demeanor. A pleasant Thai restaurant in Kenilworth. Very clean and tidy, a decent menu and friendly staff. It was good to have quality Singha beer on draught, but be aware they charge more for 2 half pints, than they do for a pint, and a dash of lime cordial is 50p We were surprised not to be offered the advertised lunchtime menu, making a planned reasonably priced lunchtime outing, being a £75 meal for 3. No problem with the prices of each dish. It was just not what we had been expecting, having see the lunchtime set menu clearly advertised on line. Overall decent quality and tasting Thai food, and a chilled lunch.

Fantastic Restaurant. We are not regular Thai eaters but the staff were great at helping with the menu and very friendly. The best thing about this restaurant is they don't use any dairy, the milk is coconut milk so my wife could eat whatever she wanted on the menu,5 stars for that alone. We had a sharing starters which was more than enough and our mains were more than enough with 2 side dishes and a bottle of wine (If you want stomach gorging huge portions then stick with your Chinese takeaway at home). Price was good considering what we ordered. Staff were very attentive but not annoyingly so. We were not rushed at any point or rushed away at the end. Food was fantastic, we would definitely eat here again and would highly recommend. Thankyou Thai kitchen for a great evening!

Food was good. Probably a really really tasty main course if I weren't vegan. The soup starter was to die for. The portion size was a bit small and a side of broccoli was expensive for the small amount in the side... I think it was £5.50. Drinks sensibly priced. Thai food always has vegan options and the staff were helpful but the menu could have had better descriptions and more mention of plant based options. The service was great and ambulance just right. Overall I spent £26; which was ok although I definitely couldn't have eaten more.

Great Thai food, one of best I have ever tried. And quite cheap as well. Recommend the jungle curry.
