History museum
The Bradbury Science Museum is an educational destination featuring 35 interactive exhibits that cover a wide range of topics, from natural defense to the development of nuclear bombs. The museum's origins date back to researcher Robert Krohn, who began creating exhibits based on classified experiments conducted in Los Alamos during nuclear tests. Initially housed in a disused ice house for protection, the museum is now named after Norris Bradbury, the lab's director who approved its establishment.
I recently visited the Bradbury Science Museum, and it was a very informative experience. The museum offers a detailed look into the science and history of the projects related to nuclear explosions. One of the highlights was a 15-minute informative video shown in their theater, which provided a great overview of the projects and their significance. The exhibits were well-organized, and the information was thorough, giving visitors a deep understanding of the work done at Los Alamos National Laboratory. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in science and history.

If you are in Los Alamos for a tour of the Manhattan Project, you definitely need to drop by the Bradbury Science Museum. If nothing else, I found the timeline composition to be a good backstory, add to that the analytical run-down of the different sites (buildings) which you cannot access on the lab grounds, and the full-size mock-ups of "Fat Man" and "Little Boy" the museum highlights filled-in my need for the 'science' side of the story that you will not get from the walking tour. Don't get me wrong, the history of the town is great and looking at old buildings from the '40s that were not snatched up by the park service until very recently, is kind of fun. However, seeing the wiring of the detonation mechanism for Fat Man was really cool and unexpected.

I loved my visit to the Bradbury Science Museum — it's a fascinating place filled with unique artifacts and compelling stories that bring history and science to life. The exhibits about the Manhattan Project and the science behind it are incredibly well-done and informative. I especially appreciated how interactive and thoughtfully curated everything was. It is also free! The staff were also amazing — super friendly, helpful, and clearly passionate about the museum and its mission. Whether you're into history, science, or just looking for something unique and engaging to explore, this place is a must-visit in Los Alamos. Highly recommend!

This is the place to visit in addition to the National Museum of Nuclear Science to learn about Nuclear science, what made the U.S. starting to develop those weapons during WW2 and how the science still used for energy development on top of other research been created at the National Laboratory up the road. The National Laboratory was an integral part for the development of Nuclear energy and applications today still a research facility for the development of other products and research. The Bradbury Science museum is phenomenal and free to visit. Highly interactive with plenty to learn and explore while there. We spend a few hours and had a great time. You also learn about the atomic bomb and the scientists behind it like Robert Oppenheimer and the National Laboratory. While in the area check out some of the locations from the movie Oppenheimer including the house where he lived, locations around the town and other areas around New Mexico where the movie was filmed. Overall a great experience and highly recommend it for the whole family.

Bradbury Science Museum is an excellent resource for learning about the scientific method. The hands-on exhibits are informative for all ages. Watch the 15 minute film to have a good overview of the work at Los Alamos. Be sure to visit the gift shop for interesting science oriented products.

The Bradbury Science Museum is a great educational experience. This museum is dedicated to everything regarding nuclear weapons. They gave plenty information about the history of the Manhattan project, nuclear weapons design, peaceful uses of nuclear energy, and current safeguards in place. There were two full size models of the “little boy” and “fat man” bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. There were also plenty of interactive simulations. Everything at the museum was free of charge. There is so much to learn and experience at the Bradbury Science Museum for people of all ages.

Super cool museum. Informative, interesting, interactive, and sobering! Nicely wheelchair accessible too. I appreciated that there was a changing table in the bathroom for larger kids/adults. That's really rare, in fact, this is my first time seeing it. It wasn't needed for us, but I'm sure it really makes a difference for some families.
Bean N — Google review
Really detailed displays not just explaining the Manhattan Project but other science topics as well. Very informative short movies and videos. Lots of interactive displays and an area just for children. Exact replicas of the atomic bombs the USA dropped on Japan. A must visit in Los Alamos.

The Los Alamos History Museum, operated by the Los Alamos Historical Society, is dedicated to showcasing the rich history of the Pajarito Plateau area. Located in downtown Los Alamos, this museum offers award-winning exhibits on significant events such as the Manhattan Project and the Los Alamos Ranch School. Visitors can explore a 1918 infirmary turned guest quarters during the Manhattan Project and a Cold War exhibit at Bathtub Row home owned by physicist Hans Bethe.
Los Alamos is home to significant historical and scientific institutions, most notably the Bradbury Science Museum. As the public outreach arm of the Los Alamos National Laboratory, the Bradbury Science Museum offers a fascinating look into the Lab's history, particularly its pivotal role in the Manhattan Project during World War II. Visitors can explore interactive exhibits detailing the development of the atomic bomb, view full-scale models of "Little Boy" and "Fat Man," and learn about the groundbreaking scientific research that took place in Los Alamos. If you're an atomic tourist, this is a good stop for you. If not, it's interesting, but it's quite the drive to get here. The drive is beautiful though, so that makes it less of a chore to get out here. If you visit, make sure you take part in the walking tour. Our guide had all sorts of extra info that you can't find in the museum itself.
Gary K — Google review
Thoughtful exhibits about the varied history of the area, including the displaced indigenous peoples and homesteaders, the old ranch school, and a video capturing the reactions of some of the scientists who worked on the Manhattan project, reflecting on seeing their work's effects at the end of the war.
Noelle — Google review
Costs $5 to get in and the museum covers the history of Los Alamos including the Manhattan Project. Not too big - 3 rooms and a house with some additional exhibits. They are raising money to refurbish the house that Oppenheimer lived in. Walking from the main museum to the other houses is on smooth, easy to walk on paths and the distance is pretty short. People were friendly and helpful. Not as kid oriented and interactive as the Bradbury Museum just a few blocks away, but interesting info on the area and how the town developed to what it is today.

OPPENHEIMER HISTORY! I drove here just to do a little research on Robert Oppenheimer before watching the movie. This is a small museum, but does provide some background information on the whole Manhattan Project and Robert Oppenheimer. It was definitely worth my time! :-)

The museum is nicely done and explains much of the history of the area and the Manhattan Project. There is a main building and several other houses, including the Oppenheimer house (not open while we were there). The docents were excellent at providing information and color.

National Parks
Manhattan Project National Historical Park is located in Los Alamos, New Mexico, within the Santa Fe National Forest. The park is part of a region that also includes Bandelier National Monument and Valles Caldera National Preserve. This area offers over 75 miles of trails for visitors to explore. Los Alamos gained notoriety as the site where the Manhattan Project was assembled in the 1940s, leading to the creation of atomic bombs that ended World War II.
Such a cool experience!! Especially coming here following the movie of Oppenheimer and having some specific knowledge of the history. I appreciated the history of the area and being able to walk through the community. There are two museums associated with the complex, Oppenheimer’s actual house, and Fuller Lodge. You can do all of it self-guided or visit their website for a guided tour. We got information from the rangers in the visitor center upon getting there, and they provided us with some maps and even a guide for visiting the filming locations from the Oppenheimer movie.
Tegan G — Google review
Nice leisurely walking tour of the old, original part of Los Alamos from the times of the Manhattan Project. Starting at the visitor's center near Ashley Pond (wonderful park ranger there), to Fuller Lodge (open), The Oppenheimer House (closed), and ending at the Bradbury Science Museum, it all fit nicely into a leisurely walking tour. Unfortunately, the Los Alamos History Museum and the Oppi House were closed on Sunday. Make double sure you budget some time (~2hrs) for the science museum. Definitely worth the visit and be sure to watch the original movie, which I think was a much better rendition of the events (at least more 'science' oriented): "Fat Man and Little Boy", before you make the trip.
Martin S — Google review
As a historian I always wanted to see this place. It is full of history and I was shocked that it did not become a National Historical Park until the Obama Administration. A true disservice. Many of the original buildings are gone, but you can still see a few and also go into a small number of them. I loved the lodge, which started out as a boys school in the 1920s until the government took it over. If you do the full walking tour you end up at the science museum, which is free. It has a nice 15 minute film on the history of the Manhattan Project which is well worth seeing.
Larry W — Google review
I was underwhelmed by this whole thing. The actual NPS visitor center for the site was about a room and a half big. Shockingly small for such an important event in history. Spent about 3 minutes there. Most of the buildings around there are not open to tour. The Los Alamos History Museum was the best site in the area. $5/person to enter. Other than that, you can walk around a bit and see a statue. Again, underwhelming.

This center is fabulous. We loved it. Kids are under 7 and it was just right for all of them. Your kids will LOVE this place and they will learn so much. We even caught a movie in the planetarium about what astronauts do. It has a bird viewing area and an outdoor playscape. The woman who works there is so knowledgeable about the snacks or creatures they have there as well. This is worth the trip and even though it’s small you could easily spend a few hours here with children. It’s thoughtfully done and we loved it.

Wonderful place to bring your toddler and yourself! Sensory play both indoor and out. Planetarium on Wednesdays at 3pm. All free of charge and very child safe/proof indoors. Our go-to place when we are in town. Didn’t catch any indoor photos this time.

So, I've yet to go in, but the trails behind it are spectacular. Residents are so lucky to have this piece of natural beauty and wonder in their backward! Take care running as roots and rocks will trip you up. Take care also to be aware of your surroundings, the trails markings are a but confusing and getting lost is definitely a possibility.

The historic building houses the art center as well as the Gallery Gift Shop, featuring over 100 locally crafted pieces. Visitors can also explore nearby CB Fox for unique Los Alamos souvenirs.
We had the best experience at Fuller Lodge! The venue was beautiful, but what really stood out was Uylin. She was incredibly helpful and accommodating from start to finish, making sure every detail was perfect. Her support and professionalism made our wedding day stress-free and truly special. Highly recommend Fuller Lodge Art Center—thank you for everything!

The Fuller Lodge Art Center is a charming spot in Los Alamos that offers a lovely blend of art and history. The building itself is beautiful, with a rustic yet elegant design that fits perfectly into the landscape. Inside, the art center showcases a variety of local artwork, including paintings, sculptures, and other creative pieces. The exhibits are well-curated, and it’s a great place to support local artists. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff is friendly, making it a pleasant experience. If you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth a stop to appreciate the art and the unique setting!

The Fuller Art Center is seperate from the Fuller Lodge, and highly worth a visit. They have a free gallery with a new show every month and a gift shop, both which showcase local artists. The art is wonderful, unique, and super reasonably priced because it's an not-for-profit. An excellent place to get locality made souvenirs or presents if you're on vacation! The staff is also lovely and informative. I highly recommend it as a thing to do if you're visiting Los Alamos.

There’s lots to do outside in Los Alamos. But if you’re caught here on a snowy or rainy day, check out The Lodge - Fuller Historic Lodge. Dates back to 1928 when it was a school.

Really enjoy stopping by Fuller Lodge to look at the architecture and the history. What an incredible building! And it takes you back to it's history as a boys school, leading up to the Manhattan project involvement. You may go through the history museum there, which is great, but you shouldn't miss the art store, where you can make some great purchases from many local artists.

Los Alamos is a quirky place, probably by most people's standards. There are few great places to go in Los Alamos and Fuller Lodge Art Center is one of them. All of the varied artists live in our land of enchantment. The gallery offers a wonderful range of two and three-dimensional pieces, from jewelry to paintings to fiber art to ceramics to more, usually at affordable prices. Fun!

It has been serving the community for over 40 years, offering a casual yet upscale atmosphere and new American cuisine. The menu features a variety of dishes made from fresh, locally-sourced, and seasonal ingredients. From soups, salads, sandwiches to entrees like burgers, fish and chips, fajitas and enchiladas are available for lunch and dinner.
Blue Window Bistro delivers excellent food with speedy service. The menu offers fresh, flavorful dishes, and the quick, efficient staff makes it a great spot for a satisfying meal, even on a tight schedule.

I mostly enjoyed dinner here, our service was a little slow and the waitress tried to memorize the order and I got green chili on my burger instead of fried egg. I luckily like green chili and accepted the substitution as is. The burger was well cooked and the whipped potatoes were good as well. The peaches and cream cocktail was a treat. With a little more attention this would've been a better experience. One fun note, I liked the mismatched tables through the restaurant. It gave it a little bit of an antique flair.

I've been to Blue Window several times and each time I have enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere. Also, the service has been great too! The employees have always been attentive, kind, and quick. The food is always fresh, great-tasting and a good value. I highly recommend Blue Window for couples, families or a work meeting.
Heather S — Google review
Consistently great service (they seem to keep their staff). Food is consistently great, flavors and spices well balanced. Excellent, fresh, salads. Nice ambiance. Like most restaurants in the U.S., they could do something for some sound absorption (gets rather noisy when busy), but otherwise an excellent place to dine. Wine list to complement any meal. I don't know how they do it.
Semberlyn C — Google review
By far the nicest restaurant in town if you have anything to celebrate! Lunch burgers are a reasonable price but it will likely be pretty busy from people working in town at the lab. Making a reservation is recommended if it’s any party larger than two or on their prime rib night. Usually great staff- only had one waiter at the back bar out of all the times we have been here that forgot about us. Every appetizer we have had was good except for the bean dish. It had no flavor whatsoever.
Ellyn F — Google review
Someone recommended the blue window bistro to me and I can't resist a good recommendation! Off I went, thinking to myself it would be OK but not great. I mean, it's a bistro. Well, I found the atmosphere inviting and the service was on point. Decided to go with the fish and chips along with a green chile cup of soup. After smashing my face with fish (literally) I knew I had made the right choice. If I was a fish, I would die happy knowing I'd be fried and served here. I will be going here again.
Travis M — Google review
Decent place, but left some to be desired. French onion soup is one of the best we’ve had. The wellington bites were okay at best, nothing to write home about. The egg rolls were a bit heavy on the beans, but enjoyable. The crab stack was not the best, being mostly soggy from the amount of toppings. The vegetables with the salmon are steamed, so it lacks any real flavor. The steak was good and the seafood pasta was ok. Service was good, with a great knowledge of the items on the menu and quick with refills.

I ate here twice before leaving my review. First visit review. Food was alright, asked for medium cooked bison burger but came out to be medium well ish.. one of my party didn't receive their drink until they finished their meal. And charged for two drink. Server took one out from the bill, no problem.. Second visit review.. Drink came out in time. Server was very kind and great but.. I ordered new York strip steak in medium but they gave me well done. Server asked me if I wanted to get another steak but at this point I was hungry and ready to just fill my belly and leave. Didn't even finish the steak, should have taken the leftover back home so I can use it as doorstop. I'm guessing experience I had here was little poor but other people seems to enjoyed here. Go ahead and try yourself. There's not much to eat around los alamos tbh. 3rd visit review.. It's been 5 months since I came to this restaurant.. ordered bison burger medium and came out to be well done. :P Expected, server was friendly tho. 5 star for server.

My favorite New Mexican restaurant in the state for nearly 50 years. Viola would make us green chile and beans burritos at her home and my Dad would buy 4-5 dozen which we would freeze. They wouldn’t last 2weeks!!! Still miss them.

Stopped by with my wife for breakfast this morning (10 June 2022). I got the burrito ranchero With green and my better half got the 2 egg breakfast. Mine was phenomenal, good flavor and the green chili sauce was very flavorful with enough spice to make it very good. The 2 egg breakfast came with the eggs cooked perfectly and the pancakes were nice and fluffy. Everyone on the staff was welcoming and the atmosphere inside was very pleasing to us. History on display throughout and you can tell they care about their customers. I highly recommend and we’ll be stopping by anytime we’re in town.

Loved this casual eatery in Los Alamos. You order at the counter up front, and then they bring your food to your table. The sopaipillas were our favorite on this trip…instead of being hollow, they’re more like fry bread, thick and fluffy and light. Delicious! I had the fry bread taco, and it was very nice with green and red chile. We would definitely stop here again next time we pass by.

Cafe Sushi is a charming, family-owned sushi spot that may not have an extensive selection of rolls, but makes up for it with delicious flavors and generously sized portions at reasonable prices. The owners are dedicated to serving top-quality fish and ensuring customer satisfaction. Tucked away from the main area, this quaint place offers a cozy atmosphere and friendly service. It's a little gem for those seeking great sushi and a warm dining experience.
The sushi chef is very friendly, as are the rest of staff. Prices are affordable, the sushi is very fresh and traditional. Don’t expect a huge menu with all your favorite crazy modern rolls, but do expect solid food and good conversation! Feels like home for someone who has lived in Japan.

They don’t do take out orders after 11 am. But Google says it doesn’t open until 11am. So no takeout. Love this cute little quaint place! Great sushi, reasonable prices, great service! A little tucked back and off the main strip but worth the trip.

The sushi here is great and on par with any major city. Yes, the hours are limited but that is the only drawback so plan accordingly. The owners are friendly, helpful and accommodating. The seating area is small so go early if you have a group or better yet, call ahead and see if they can accommodate a larger group. Take out orders are processed an hour before they open for lunch or dinner and they do not accept take out orders after their storefront is physically open. The owners told me that it can become too busy to process sit down orders with take out orders. I've eaten here several times and also ordered take out. The sushi is always fresh and the price is very reasonable. If you enjoy fresh sushi, this place should be on your list.

I am from a large city where sushi is almost everywhere. However, this is something that is quite special in this area. This is my third time eating at Cafe Sushi within the first 10 days of my visit. You can tell that I always have a good time here as I am still a college student but willing to spend my money. The chef and the lady there are super nice, kind, and friendly. They always take care of you like you are more than their customers. They come to chat with you whenever they can. Sometimes they generously offer you a free side dish. Considered the size of the restaurant and the rarity of Japanese food/ingredients in Los Alamos, they serve quite a variety of sushi. I like Chirashi and Salmon steak teriyaki. Overall, my experience at Cafe Sushi is exceptionally great and better than at many other Japanese restaurants where I am from since day one. I always love supporting small businesses.

Mediterranean restaurant
Pyramid Cafe, situated in Los Alamos, New Mexico, presents an enticing selection of Mediterranean, North African, and Greek cuisine. Their menu boasts an array of delectable options like gyro sandwiches, homemade moussaka, and chicken roti. The servings are impressively generous while the dessert menu includes mouthwatering homemade baklava. This particular location is conveniently located in a strip mall on Central Avenue and is one of two Pyramid Cafe branches in New Mexico.
The only complaint I have is that I wish my stomach was bigger! The portions are large and delicious! I always have leftovers even though my tongue tries to convince me to keep eating. 🙃 It's a little higher on the price scale so we go here mainly for special occasions and celebrations but we are never disappointed.

I was surprised that the business owners would even ruminate about opening a Middle-Eastern/Lebanese/Mediterranean style restaurant in a tiny city/town like Los Alamos considering the population and questionable exposure to this type of cuisine, but I'm glad that they made the choice to move forward with it. Since I can't see the future, I won't know how successful this restaurant will become, but I hope this business remains for the long haul because my experience here was good; not to mention, this area needs more diverse options since all I mostly see is American or (New) Mexican-centric food. Living in Las Vegas (Nevada), and having traveled to many countries, I have gained appreciation and the palate for all types of food from a wide-array of cultures/ethnicity, so it was refreshing to see this restaurant here. I stopped here for lunch with a co-worker on 9 Oct 2024 and overall, I "liked" this restaurant as depicted in my 4-star rating. When we arrived, the restaurant wasn't busy at all...I'm not sure if it's because this restaurant was on the newer side and many people didn't know about it, or perhaps we didn't arrive during peak hours; or, maybe this restaurant wasn't that good to other customers. Regardless, I was happy that there were tables open for us because I didn't feel like waiting. The restaurant is a self-seating and pseudo-self-serve concept, meaning, we chose our own table and utilized a tablet to order and to pay for our food instead of placing our order with an actual employee (server). I didn't have any issues with that process; however, I wanted to add it to this review in the event people aren't as tech savvy, or thrive off of interaction with people/employees. Normally I'm not one of those virtual/technology types of people but I will say that their tablet was intuitive...and I especially enjoyed how it provided an option to split the payments versus having to request it afterwards. On the other hand, I'm not a fan of the tablet prompting you for a tip prior to services being rendered...similar to how a lot of businesses are using that concept (the whole turning the digital tablet around at the cashier counter asking if you would like to leave a tip). It's not that I don't agree with leaving a tip; I just don't agree with paying a tip before a service. I ended up ordering the Chicken Soup, Hummus with Pita Bread, and Gyro Plate. The soup had great flavor and had that traditional lemon taste to it; the hummus and bread was adequate - I can't say it was the best I've ever had, but it still hit the spot. The Gyro Plate was outstanding...that meat was cooked to beyond perfection (I enjoyed how they seared the outside of the meat providing a magnificent texture to it). I was a little bummed that the plate didn't look exactly like the picture, meaning, I was hoping for a little bit of veggies with my entrée. But, overcoming certain life's obstacles can be easy...I just went to one of the employees and asked for a plate of lettuce, tomatoes, and onions...which he happily provided with some cucumbers. The price-to-quantity/quality ratio was respectable. The booth seats could use a little bit of an upgrade since it wasn't comfortable at all - it felt like I was sinking into the seat, and I know I'm not that heavy. I hope for the benefit of other customers, it was just that booth and not the entire restaurant. The service that we did receive (bringing out the food and drinks) was adequate - the employees were nice and efficient. If you've never tried this place, I highly recommend it. I am all for trying new places and new types of cuisine so eating food outside of your typical McDonald's and Applebee's is always within my playbook. Why not adventure away from the boring standard?

I had heard from an aquantince that this place was really good so I decided to check it out. I feel that the place is a little small and I had to sit at a table that was right next to the entrance. I felt the service was quick and friendly and I got my food quickly as well. The portion sizes are huge, which is great. I was able to take leftovers. It seemed as if my chicken tagine was really watery, but it was my first time getting that dish so I'm not sure if that's normal. Overall it was a good meal but I'll probably get something else next time

We got the appetizer plate to go. The hummus was ok. The babaganoush was cat food out of a can. The green chile salad has no food redeeming quality except a little spice. I can’t recommend this place to anyone.

Sit down restaurant with tablets at the tables to order on. The Pita and hummus were excellent. The dolmas were perfect. The Greek salad is very good with a superb Greek dressing. My partner said the chicken would have been better if it was grilled as it seemed baked or boiled. Spanakopita was perfectly baked and flaky but the lemon flavor was overpowering and masked what seemed to be fresh spinach.

My wife and I had a lovely dinner at the LA Cantina last night. Great food and atmosphere! Attentive and knowledgeable staff. Amazing cocktails and wines. I especially liked the Old Fashioned. The robotic food deliver 'cats' are really cute too!

On 5/26/2023, we visited the LA Cantina. We ordered the al pastor tacos, picanha tacos and a chicken sandwich along with a margarita, mojito and a root beer. Total was ~$64 before tip and included taxes. We liked the mojito and rate the margarita as average. Both tacos were great, however, the black beans were lukewarm and not to serving temperature. I did not try the chicken sandwich but my son said it was good. The staff seemed friendly and helpful but after we sat down and were given a hard copy of the menu, we saw a staff person twice (once to input a code for the adult beverages and second when those beverages arrived). You order from a Square kiosk at your table and it works just fine. However, you are asked to pay and tip upfront. I dislike this setup since I want to tip based on the service I receive and not what I expect to receive. I think that’s a fair approach for tips. The robot that delivers the food is interesting and fun. The robot seems to find their way around well enough and we had no problem retrieving our food from it. I realize this is a newly setup restaurant and there will be some growing pains. With that in mind, we liked the taste of our food but there should be more attention to patrons after the food is delivered. We had silverware for 2/3 people at the table and we would have provided immediate feedback that the beans were not at serving temperature. Both of those issues could easily be resolved if someone comes by within a few minutes of the food arrival. While it may not be possible, I would prefer to run a tab as we go so we can easily add more drinks and tip at the end. We tend to tip well but held back bc we didn’t know what to expect. We likely would have ordered a set of two mojitos but didn’t want to hassle with waiting to flag down a staff member and go through paying again. Also, why not offer both menus whether you sit in the Cantina or the Pyramid Cafe? The kitchen is the same and this would accommodate varied taste within patron groups. I applaud the owners for this updated approach here in LA and hope they continue to improve. As I said, the food was good and with some slight improvements, it will enhance customers’ experiences. We’ll come back after they get established and compare our experiences.

First time visiting this restaurant and would just assume they have staffing issues. We were sat at a table and that was it, we were not told to order using the table tablet. Once order was placed we also figured out that food was delivered by a robotic server. That was cool to see but also not discussed or explained. Saw many people grab other people's order off of robot in confusion. The food/drink service was very very slow. Had to ask for waters that were part of our order. The appetizer we ordered was the ceviche tostada, which was good and then ordered some burgers with no bun. Just want to be fair and not be misleading with the photo. Our order took a very long time to get to the table and we had ordered regular fries and the talo fries. When we waved down a server and asked which were the talo fries he did not know, laughed and went about his business. The burgers were over cooked and dry. With all that being said I know businesses have bad days and kinks to work out. The atmosphere and setting is very appealing and I will be back and hopefully have a better experience.

El Parasol is a family-owned Mexican restaurant with six locations across New Mexico, serving up delicious Mexican and New Mexican classics since 1958. The menu includes handmade tamales, chiles rellenos, burritos, crispy tacos, homemade tortilla chips, guacamole, as well as American dishes like burgers and chili cheese dogs. Located in the heart of downtown Los Alamos at 1903 Central Ave, it offers a traditional Mexican ambiance and free parking behind the restaurant.
Pork tamales are EXCELLENT. Also tried the shredded beef taco which was really good. Didnt see any alcohol for sale (sigh). But they took my order fast and food was ready quick. The dining area is fine, just more like a cafeteria. This is way better than the 4.2 rating I am seeing. And way better than Blue Window Bistro.

Stopped by for a lunch while visiting Los Almos. Reasonable pricing, great food. I got shredded beef and chicken tacos and didn’t get disappointed. Red sauce made everything taste even better. This place is one of few I found to be open on Sunday. Would consider visiting again when in the area.

Decent and traditional Mexican faire, for a good price considering it's in Los Alamos. Be warned the green and red chile and salsa breve is on the spicier side! Service is fast. Food is a little bland for my tastes, but when you're in a hurry and want to do cheap this place hits the spot!

Had a great cheese burger and fries. You order at a walkup counter. They also have Mexican food that looks smelled wonderful. Plenty of seating and tabled turn over quickly at the lunchtime.

Delicious vegetarian burrito, pork taco, and super fresh guacamole! I was shocked by the stuffed sopapilla. It was larger than my face yet I finished it. That’s how amazing it is!

The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. It's a very clean place too. I had the Carne Adovada burrito smothered in green chile. It was the best one I have ever eaten. Unbelievably good!

No table service. All food served in Styrofoam take-out containers. Food was tasty, though. The Green Chile Stew was especially delicious!
