Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Cesme Castle, dating back to 1508, holds a significant place in Ottoman history and offers stunning sea views. The castle served as a military fortress protecting the region from invasions. Visitors can explore defense machinery and sculptures within the castle grounds and climb its stairs for panoramic city views. Additionally, special events are held at the castle from time to time.
Great history and restoration behind this castle. Definitely not wheelchair accessible and lots of steep stairs but the views are great. Plenty of historical artifacts with good explanations and translated into English. Good price and if you like history, then well worth a visit.

We came on a weekday where the weather is so so. There are hardly any tourists in there, giving us enough opportunities to explore the castles however we want. For those interested in Ottoman-Russian history, you will enjoy the site as a naval fort. Seems difficult to imagine so peaceful a place as of here nowadays was once the pivotal point for a great naval war. If you want to see beauty or other more artistic aspects, this castle may not be particularly interesting to visit. The ticket as of 2025 is 6€. Parking is easy outside the castle on the street. The area is easy to walk around and you could find restaurants after the visit along the streets and into the small town. I suppose it should be rather touristy but doesn’t seem to be the case in winter.

This castle, built by the Italians, stands on the town's seaside square. It faces the sea, overlooking the coastline, the opposite shore, and offering a panoramic view of the entire town. The entrance fee is 100 lira, but foreign tourists are charged double. The castle is made of stone and consists of three inner sections, designed for defense. Inside, there are several exhibition halls, one of which showcases the naval battle between the Turkish and Russian fleets off the coast of Çeşme. Of course, the most impressive aspect remains the Italian architectural craftsmanship.
Bars B — Google review
Absolutely worth visiting. Entrance is just €6, and it's well spent money. Once you reach the top, you're rewarded with a phenomenal panoramic view of the town and coastline. Highly recommended for history lovers and anyone looking to enjoy beautiful scenery.

History Buffs: Çeşme Castle is a well-preserved 16th-century fortress overlooking the Aegean Sea in western Turkey. Built by the Ottomans to defend against Venetian attacks, it features impressive stone walls, six towers, and a small but informative museum showcasing regional history and artifacts from the 1770 Battle of Çeşme. The castle offers stunning panoramic views of the marina and town, making it a must-visit for history lovers and photographers alike. While the climb to the top requires some effort, the breathtaking scenery and historical ambiance make it worthwhile.
LM B — Google review
A piece of history in the charming beach town of Çesme. Go and walk up all the stairs to the top and the views are amazing. Try to time your visit close to sunset because it's an amazing scene! You can spend at least 2 hours inside if you take your time to read the historical information.

An incredibly beautiful place with stunning views of the city. A small museum exhibition dedicated to the Russian-Turkish war. There is also a small garden on the premises. On weekdays it is open until 20:00. On Sundays until 17:00. Entrance ticket 6 euros. The price is absolutely fair. In the second half (closer to closing) there is little attendance.

Fantastic views of the marina from the walls of this 16th century Ottoman castle. Well worth a short visit, and cheap entry when compared to many other landmarks. Surprisingly honest account of Cesme naval battle and a small archeology exhibition with exhibits sourced from the local area.

This beach is undoubtedly one of the best beaches we have ever visited. Its pristine, golden-white sands and mesmerizing turquoise waters create a postcard-perfect scene. The beach is impeccably clean and offers a tranquil escape with complimentary sun loungers. Our kids were in absolute heaven. A must-visit!

Stunning beach. Very clean. Water is warm and flat. Did plenty of swimming here in summer. A must visit.
Kyle A — Google review
Beautiful beach with possibilities to be one of the best beaches in the world. Crystal clear water with white sands. No shops, bars, or restaurants in the street that make it a quiet and relaxing beach. Facilities require cleaning and maintenance as most doors have broken off. The sand could be perfect if they had a machine to clean it.
Hendrik K — Google review
Beautiful and clean public beach. Lots of space to find a good spot. Water is so clear and even end of September still OK temperature wise. There are cabins where you can change and even open showers to wash off the sand. Toilets are there but might be hard to look at... Nevertheless for a public and free beach extremely pleasant.
KT — Google review
Great beach, it is a very large beach. You can find somewhere to sit down. Also lots of private beach areas if you pay around 40-80tl. Lots of restaurants right on the beach to order anything you want. Water is awesome and can swim for hours there.
Johnny G — Google review
The water is brilliant, but rhe sand is hell, full of ciggarette, used bottles, packages. Very sad that people are not trying to keep it clean, also on the other hand there are no gabbage bins until you leave the beach.
Leo D — Google review
It’s a long beautiful beach. Especially great for those beach walks, if you are a lover of them. You get to challenge yourself to go to the very end and then climb up to the wooden stalls/terraces and go on forward. Amazing views will be opened for you from the other end. The sea is so clean and transparent. The area in general is super picturesque and provides for good vibration of your soul. Yet, a bit disappointing that people leave so much litter behind.

Beautiful positive port in which you can shop or eat a delicious breakfast, lunch or dinner with tranquility and quality. We spent a Saturday morning walking and having breakfast in a restaurant and it is very nice to spend the day there. You have parking to park the car near the port and not worry. The village is beautiful, worth visiting.

The museum houses artifacts from the Bronze Age and provides information about the ancient ruins in the area. Visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the city and Aegean Sea from the top of the castle, making it an ideal spot to witness breathtaking sunsets.
It was very great museum but more like sight seeing place. The view from the top was nice. Highly recommend it if you’re visiting Cesme

Such a cosy place! So small with collections of some ancient stuff, BUT on the top it’s marvelous view for Cesme! The price is 25 TL, so (if you are budget tourist) you can refuse from latte from Starbucks and come here to enjoy the perfect sunset! Really romantic!

The palace (Turkish: Kale) has a fantastic view.. specially when you reach at the top, you see whole the city.. it’s highly recommended to try being there before the sunset and being able to watch a breathtaking scene of sunset above the beautiful Aegean sea full of boats and ships.. specially after visiting the gallery room of paintings from the war of this city and brave people and feeling the soul of eras there..

Allegedly, I missed out on some major parts of the museum yet I believe there wasn't a single corner of the museum that I hadn't seen. In my opinion, the view of central Çeşme from the towers is worth seeing more than the relics that are inside the museum.

Restaurant
Asma Yaprağı is a must-visit in Alacati, offering the best of Aegean cuisine with dishes made from their own farm-grown produce. The restaurant's new field-themed location on the Ovacik road has captured hearts in the 2020 season. Ces Asma Yapragi Restorani provides a magical atmosphere for a romantic evening meal. The unique setting, delicious menu, and memorable experiences make it perfect for creating cherished memories.
We visited the restaurant on a Monday for lunch, a taxi driver recommended this place to us, and we decided to visit. I was surprised by the beautiful garden and the ambience of the area. It is beautifully decorated, accompanied by some low music in the background. The staff was extremely friendly and mostly spoke perfect English, something that definitely added to the experience. The location is quite far away from both alacati and Cesme, unless you have a car. A taxi ride there will set you back around 350tl from alacati or Cesme. The food was ok, I really enjoyed the lamb and the pumpkin plate. We were also recommended some wine (vourla) that I really enjoyed and would definitely recommend. The prices are kinda expensive, but not too bad. Overall I would say it was a pretty memorable experience, mostly because of the garden, the food was good but nothing special. I would definitely recommend it if you are in the area!
Dimitris K — Google review
We read about Asma Yapragi and decided to give it a go. We walked into this beautiful garden full of olive trees and vines. We didn’t have a booking but we came in for a late lunch and they seated us immediately. The tables are placed far enough apart so that there’s a gentle buzz of conversation and some quiet jazz playing. We went into the kitchen where the room is laid out with the most beautiful meze (all vegetarian - yay!) to choose from for your starters. The only problem I see is that there’s too much to choose from, I would have happily tried it all. We had 6 dishes between 2 of us (and I might need to be rolled out of here), and have no idea what the mains are. Everything was delicious, in the most beautiful setting (go before dark so you can see the garden). They have a large allotment next to the restaurant where they grow all their veg, and there’s a shop next door which we’re just about to explore. Marvellous! Oh. Just got the bill as I was writing this… it is pricier than your average restaurant in the port that’s for sure, but it’s much more fabulous!
Georgia A — Google review
The food is great here, although unreasonably priced. The appetizers never disappoint but the main dishes are underwhelming. Make sure to order the pumpkin onion dish.
Melis E — Google review
Superb local restaurant in a beautiful garden just few minutes out of Alaçati. The recipes are traditional and coming from family of the owner. You can definitely just take the mezze from the large choice in the kitchen without need to order a main dish. Flavors and quality of the ingredients are incredible, we tried like 7-8 different plates and could not stop. It’s a hidden gem out of the crowded city center. Service impeccable

"One of the most beautiful restaurants in Alacati... excellent food, atmosphere... a place to set an example for other restaurants in Alacati... how to create a place with character... well done!"
Ensar D — Google review
We recently visited this restaurant and, overall, had a memorable experience with a few highs and lows. The food was undeniably delicious, and the farm-to-table concept truly shines through in the freshness and quality of the ingredients. The presentation of each dish was spectacular, and the atmosphere was great at first, especially with the chill Turkish music playing in the background. Unfortunately, the mood was interrupted when loud music from a nearby wedding venue started overpowering the restaurant’s ambiance, which detracted from the otherwise relaxing experience. Upon arrival, we were promptly seated and ordered drinks - both the lemonade and cranberry juice were refreshing and tasty. One unique aspect of the evening was being invited into the kitchen to view the freshly prepared mezes for the day. The staff provided detailed explanations of each dish and made helpful suggestions based on our preferences. There were plenty of options, and we ended up selecting 6-7 different mezes, which were more than enough for the two of us. While we found some dishes more enjoyable than others, everything was well-prepared and flavorful. However, after receiving our food, we felt somewhat neglected by the staff. No one came to ask if we needed anything, and it took 30-45 minutes before anyone cleared our table until I started stacking the plates and pushed them to the side of the table. For dessert, we chose the pumpkin cake, which was absolutely delicious and a perfect way to end the meal. All in all, it’s an experience worth having. The food and concept are excellent, but the service left a lot to be desired.
Dilara D — Google review
Lovely food & superb atmosphere unlike any other place in Turkey. We’ve lived in Turkey for 2 years but Asma is like no other restaurant I’ve been too. It’s like walking into the dream wedding of an Instagram influencer, with the lights, tables and little greenhouses. The food is wonderful, fresh and they have diverse options for starters. The tables are appropriately spaced and the waiters wear their masks. It’s important to note that when we visited, they did not offer any vegetarian mains. It’s also on the spennie side, even for this region. The crowd is as glamorous as the surroundings, so unless you have a 10k+ following on the Gram I would recommend making a reservation.

Eflatun Alaçatı is a charming restaurant located in the narrow streets of Alacati, specifically in the Hacimemis district. The food service begins at 19:30, offering delicious meals prepared with regional authentic products by the two women founders since 2013.
Great food, among the best mezzes I've had with a more modern touch. All dishes had great flavor.

Very nice restaurant with a good atmosphere; the service was very kind and they found us a table even if we were without reservation. We choose 3 fish dishes and a selection of their sides; as starter a fresh carpaccio of salmon that was really good; then grilled prawns and the octopus with eggplant purée; the octopus dish was incredibile, I really recommend it. We had also a Turkish white wine that was a good discover(in general the wine list is quite good). A really good place, especially for a romantic dinner.

tasty mezes, I highly recommend the mussels with wine sauce. Keep in mind while making a reservation that the courtyard is better than sitting on the crowded street.

The food was fantastic, one of the best we had. However, very expensive in comparison with other local restaurants. Also: NOT open before 19:00 hrs. The place is OK. All 3 cold starters were too sour for my taste, grilled octopus and fried calamari were fresh and tasty. Steak with mushroom was good and wine of the house was very good. 10% service is automatically added to the bill.

Kapari Bahçe is a charming open-air restaurant located in the Hacımemiş neighborhood, nestled in a historic stone building dating back to the 1800s. The restaurant prides itself on offering delectable dishes made with locally sourced ingredients, curated by the talented executive chef Caykun Gelgec. Sweeet vibe with a grand menu. I saw some excellent vegetarian options. Serves is quick and very skilled. The little streets are wonderfull and warm. The salad is real lets hope the rest is of the same quality.

The Restaurant is situated in the center of Alaçati. It has a nice green atmosphere. Unfortunately they do not serve everything what is written in the menu. But we had a nice main course. Prices are higher class.

After reading negative reviews I was quite concerned to go there, but decided to give it a go. We actually quite enjoyed the food, it was nicely balanced with salt, spices and sauces. We got several dishes. I loved the most Kapari Style lamb liver, very rare someone can cook it nicely. Service was excellent! There is also nice atmosphere with heaters running. The restaurant charge a service charge 10% on the top of your bill (not sure if it’s everyday thing, we dined on Sunday)

If I could rate this a seven (7), I would. Atmosphere is, literally, perfect on the bend of a quaint street. The service is spectacular for a vibrant, busy restaurant... The food was so good, that my wife and I broke our hard & fast rule of no repeats. We went back and were happy to have done so. Go here now!
Greg B — Google review
Great food and ambience. Definitely on the pricy side, we payed 100€ for 2 beers, an appetiser, salad and 2 mains. It seems the kitchen knows how to prepare the dishes very well. Service was good, although the did not comprehend my friends allergy to nuts. Obviously I had to repeat a walnut is a nut! Highly recommended if budget is not an issue.
Iason S — Google review
I ordered the mushroom and truffle pappardelle, which was the best I’ve ever had. The appetizers and salads were also very fresh and tasty. However, I recommend going early and making a reservation. The street gets packed once the sun starts to go down and can become uncomfortable. We got a table around 6pm (without a reservation) and only had an hour to eat before we had to go. It is also a little pricy… $87 for 3 people. All in all a great experience, but would only go back if prices were lowered and it didn’t get so crowded in the later evening.
Hira T — Google review
The service was very bad. The price was super expensive one sushi roll (maki 6 p) and 2 nigiri cost more than 800 Turkish Lira. The food was just ok. The environment was nice but since the service was so bad we couldn’t enjoy the service. This is a tourist trap.

Fava Alacati is a charming spot with a terrace, offering a variety of hot and cold shared plates as well as classic Aegean dishes. The restaurant has shifted its focus to its cuisine, providing a delightful dining experience in a stone house that retains its old-world charm. Seafood enthusiasts can indulge in an array of mouthwatering dishes, from perfectly grilled fish and tender calamari to delectable shrimp options and savory seafood pasta.
Fantastic experience and food at Fava! Our waiter, Mustafa, was very kind and attentive. Our food was delicious! Our favorites were the shrimp linguine, grilled seabass, and the honey mustard avocado and corn dish. We are pretty particular about our bread and the bread they gave at the start was great! It was warm, soft inside, with a nice crust outside. We ordered the pumpkin dessert, but was also gifted the chickpea ice cream which was very kind of them. The music and ambiance created a great vibe for a nice dinner out. We came very early at 5pm, but as the night went out, they turned on the outdoor lights which added to the environment. Highly recommend and to come around 6:30pm so you can get the ambiance of the lit outdoor lights.

Probably the best restaurant in the city. Starting from the welcoming team at the entrance (you are greeted as long awaited guests) and ending up with the gorgeous atmosphere of a kinda private palace court designed for big friendly dinners. The food is very nice. The one you have to try for sure leblebi (this desert just stole the evening). Thanks to Emre who discovered it for us and special thanks for helping in understanding the menu and all our wishes in this wonderful place.
Egor C — Google review
The atmosphere is really nice here. Chill music, nice ambient light and quite large space (you would not think so only looking from the entrance) so it’s quite enjoyable to have diner in such atmosphere. The service is decent, but has some space to improve. We ordered two starters with two mains. Surprisingly the main was served before we finish our starters 😅 Also one of mains we had is steak, ordered medium rare, but at first was served well done. The waiter helped to change it without problem. The new one is medium rare as ordered. At the end of the meal, we did not order dessert, both of us are not really dessert persons after a heavy diner. But the waiter offered roasted chickpeas ice cream from the house. Surprisingly, it is quite nice, never had ice cream with such flavor. Now back to the food, I am a bit critical here, only 3 star considering the price. Two starters with two mains and one glass of roze, in total, it cost 4378 TRY (118.80 EUR) In the past days, in the similar or even a bit lower price range, we got way better food. Same price range we can get better food in The Netherlands too. For starters, we had “Fava Tekmil” and “Fried Calamari”. The quality of calamari is quite good. For main, we had * “Deniz Levrek Fileto Izgara (Sea bass grilled fillet with gratin dauphinois, red onion and green stuff)” The first bite from top side is nice, grilled well and nice flavor. However, the bottom side which is the skin side does not seem grilled or not enough at least. So the skin is soft and tastes too fishy. The green stuff is only few sla leaves. * “Dana Madalyon (The unbeatable classic, not so classic. Grilled beef medallion with vegetables)” as mentioned above, the first time when it served it is fully cooked instead medium rare as ordered, but it got corrected. However, the rating of the new one is still a medium. It’s not bad but also not standing out. Expecting better quality of the meat with this price too, what they served was two thin slices of beef instead of one good piece of meat. Among all those dishes we had, the calamari is the best, and ironically the roasted chickpea ice cream from the house is the 2nd. Overall, we think the food part have quite some improvement room considering the price for it.

We came here because this restaurant has so many reviews compared to other restaurants in the area. The appetizer selection is really what they're known for. The most expensive dinner we’ve had in Turkey this far! Meze and seafood were incredible! The other fried options were average. Kids meal was actually very good. Service was excellent. Atmosphere is gorgeous, as though you’re sitting in an enchanted backyard, however we were sweating as we were eating as they don’t have any fans or cooling down options. Istakozcu Canbaba Restoran offers a unique dining experience with a stunning view of the sea. Known for its excellent selection of dishes from the Aegean cuisine, this restaurant prides itself on serving the freshest seafood all year round. With its longstanding commitment to quality and impeccable service, Istakozcu Canbaba has gained a loyal following over the years. The menu features an array of delectable seafood options, but their specialty is undoubtedly lobster.
We made a stop here on our way back from our vacation in Çeşme to Istanbul with our 5-month-old baby, and it was an incredible experience. The lobster was the best I've ever had—extremely fresh and flavorful. The mezes were also fantastic. The waiters were very polite and quick with their service. Can Bey, the owner, is a wonderful host who took the time to visit our table and chat with us. Having lived abroad for many years and traveled to many places, his hospitality and attention to detail truly shine through. If you're in the area, you should definitely visit this place. The prices were also reasonable considering the size and quality of the lobster. You won't regret it!
Ayse U — Google review
The food was great the atmosphere was great and the service was the best...the only thing is...they don't give you a menu...they just want you to choose from a refrigerator the seafood you want...then when you're all done eating...they hit you with the bill...which seems to be entirely up to them...and that means your bill is based on whether or not you're a foreigner...we are very accustomed to this because we are in fact Turkish citizens but we don't speak the language because I was raised overseas...so here is what we got...1 order of lobster spaghetti which they said was for two people(I thought I could've easily ate it myself) 1 house salad which was enough only for 1 person and 1 large water, for a total of...4600TL...I'm putting this information in the review for information purposes...I'm aware this same meal would've set me back about 85€ in France or Italy...so it came out to around 140€ here in Çeşme...which in my opinion is a bit high...nevertheless, if a restaurant wants to charge this amount, the least they could do is let their customers know the prices ahead of time...it was only me and my wife...had I brought a couple friends with me I'm assuming the bill would've been well over €500...so be careful as you may end up in a real battle when you get your bill...especially if you don't speak Turkish....but the food was absolutely excellent

We came here because they advertised they sell lobster and the service was incredible. We only ordered the lobster pasta and the salad, and both were delicious. They gave us a large portion of the lobster! You can sit right on the beach and have an amazing view and experience. The entire setting is a relaxing and calm, truly unique environment for a restaurant.

Amazing food and amazing service. They had amazing fresh catch from the Aegean sea from which you could choose. The visual choices of the menu made life so much easier for me who isn't that great at Turkish. The staff even helped us get a taxi after we had eaten. Very generous restaurant. A must go.

Right by the beach!!! Location is awesome! Of course they have room for improvement in their services, but the food is fair.

- Atmosphere: Modernize the public spaces. I felt like I went back 40 years (and no that’s not a compliment). Interior and dining place looks very outdated and worn out. It’s a pity that the owner has not invested any money to make it more up to date. I believe that it is a popular business for a long time (with celebrities as customers) I am certain that the owner would have enough savings to make an investment for modernization and nicer decoration. The prices do not match the cheap atmosphere. Reason for 1 star. - Food: More selection of meze and better presentation of it would have been better. Meze didn’t look inviting to the eye but it tasted good. Lobster and fried calamari was delicious. Pity that octopus is only available in the weekend. Fish soup was not a success, please update your recipe. Reason for 3 stars. - Service: seemed fast with enough waiters for 5 tables with 20? guests. I don’t know how they perform when the place is full in the weekend. The serving pace is relatively (too) fast compared to European restaurants where you get the time to enjoy your food instead of being rushed to eat.

We had a peaceful dinner with our family. All dishes were great. Lobster was very good. I recommend everyone to visit this restaurant if you are near Cheshme. By the way, the owner of the place came near and greeted everyone. Thank you all.

Food is amazing!! I have been going to this restaurant for the past 4 years and never failed me once. The staff are friendly and you are by the seaside, so the atmosphere is amazing. And Can Baba is a legend!!!! The prices are reasonable compared to other restaurants in Cesme
