Abbey
Sights & Landmarks
Bath Abbey is a late Medieval church with a Victorian Gothic interior designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott. The site has been a place of worship for over 1,000 years and boasts spectacular features such as the decorative ladders of angels on the West Front, inspired by Bishop Oliver King's dream. The magnificent Victorian Gothic interior includes a soaring vaulted stone ceiling above the nave, added by Scott in the 1860s.
Such a stunning abbey - truly a gem. The fan-vaulted ceiling is absolutely breathtaking, and the stained glass windows catch the light in the most magical way. The organ alone is worth the visit—its presence fills the space with quiet awe. Tickets are £8 per person, which feels fair if you’ve got time to soak it all in and take on the tower climb. Just a heads-up: last entry is 30 minutes before closing, so check the times ahead of your visit to avoid missing out. When I arrived, there was a concert setting up, so the steps and tower climb were closed—bit of a letdown, especially since the ticket price stayed the same. Still, the abbey itself made up for it. There’s a sweet little gift shop inside with plenty of souvenirs, and the toilets downstairs are clean and well kept always a plus. If you’re in the area, don’t miss it. Just give yourself enough time to take it all in, and try to arrive early so you don’t feel rushed. A beautiful place that lingers with you after you leave.

Bath Abbey is a stunning piece of architecture with a peaceful and spiritual atmosphere. The intricate stained glass windows and towering ceilings are truly breathtaking. It’s a must-visit if you’re in Bath—rich in history and perfect for a quiet moment of reflection during your trip.

I'm never one to miss an opportunity to visit a cathedral or an abbey when on your travels (and thanks to our guide Paolo I now know the difference between these two kinds of building 🙂). Yet another wonderful piece of beautiful architecture and the history on show here is incredible. If you have a chance to take the free tour with a guide highly recommend it as you will learn things you never would without. If not though, just enjoy the stunning surroundings as you wander around.

Bath Abbey is a stunning masterpiece that left me in awe! The intricate Gothic architecture, especially the fan-vaulted ceiling, is breathtaking, and the warm welcome from the volunteers made it even better. The tower tour was a highlight—212 steps to jaw-dropping views of Bath. A must-visit gem in the heart of the city. Five stars without a doubt!
Akash K — Google review
At the center of the UNESCO heritage city of Bath is this notable abbey church. In addition to being a point of historical and architectural interest, it is also an active worshiping community. The fan vaulted ceilings are stunning and worthy of note. A history display in the basement (accessed through the fine gift shop) is worth a visit to fully understand the history of the abbey and monasteries which predate the current structure. I visited in the spring during the Christian season of Lent and appreciated the displays and interpretive materials explaining the Easter season. A fee is charged (£8) for entry to the site. Volunteers and the members of the staff are helpful and willing to assist or answer any questions. Recommend a visit.

History steeped in Reverance. While Bath Abbey isn't the largest by far that I've visited, it was still quite impressive and historically interesting to visit. The architecture could be studied for hours, so intricate with hidden carvings of note.
Heather L — Google review
Bath Abbey is a stunning church with a deep and fascinating history. Constructed in 1499 and finished around the 1600s. It’s surreal to stand on the very stones that mark the graves of around 7,000 people—many of whom helped fund and shape the Abbey over the centuries. The interior is breathtaking, from the intricate fan vaulting to the stained glass windows that tell stories from the Bible and British history.

History Museums
The Roman Baths in Bath is a historical site featuring a well-preserved bathhouse and temple with natural spring water. Visitors can explore the museum and enjoy an audio tour designed for kids, immersing them in interactive ancient history. The site offers family-friendly activities including age-specific trails and a children's audioguide narrated by Michael Rosen. Additionally, the Pump Room restaurant within the complex provides an elegant dining experience with a dedicated children's menu.
Beautiful place to visit. Definitely worth the wait in the queue. I recommend buying tickets online beforehand; you’ll still have to queue, but it’ll be much shorter. The audio guide, included in the ticket price, is available in multiple languages and packed with great information. Everything is well-organized and thoughtfully laid out. There are both indoor and outdoor areas, which is a bonus on hot days when you need a break from the sun. Depending on how busy it is, allow at least an hour and a half to walk around and take photos - more if you like to take your time or are really into photography. The atmosphere is steeped in history, transporting you back to ancient Roman times. While they were brilliant conquerors and empire builders, the Romans also knew how to enjoy life - focusing on pleasure, health, and the body, much like many of us still do today. It’s a powerful reminder that even after so many centuries, human nature hasn’t really changed. Hope you have a lovely time there. Here’s how I saw the place captured through my lens. Enjoy! xx

The Roman Baths in Bath are a very interesting place to visit if you enjoy history. It is one of the best-preserved Roman sites in the world, and walking around the baths makes you feel like you have stepped back in time. The building is beautiful, and the old Roman architecture is impressive to see. When you visit, you get an audio guide that explains everything clearly and helps you understand the history behind the baths. There are also some interactive displays and videos that make the visit more fun and easy to follow, even for children. The staff are friendly and ready to help if you have any questions. One thing to keep in mind is that the baths can get very busy, especially during weekends and holidays. This sometimes makes it hard to enjoy the place quietly or take your time looking at the exhibits. Also, the ticket price is a bit expensive for some people, but the experience is worth it if you like history. The toilets and other facilities could be easier to find inside the site. Overall, The Roman Baths are a great place to learn about Roman life and enjoy a unique part of Bath’s history. I recommend visiting early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the biggest crowds. It’s a fun and educational visit for families, tourists, and anyone curious about the past.

Highly recommended and NOT what you expect. Buy tickets in ADVANCE!!! I would buy them at least two days in advance and longer advance planning if possible. Plan on spending 3 - 4 hours in the Roman Bath. It is so full of history and life from a different time. Don’t rush through it because you will miss it. Note: See the video included here. You can taste / drink the water! Amazing memory and definitely buy the cup from Bath. The gift shop also has some unique items and is worth the visit. The individual stories of people who visited the baths and to see the process of using the bath is also interesting. Live history here. Spend the money on the virtual tour. You understand so much more.

It was a wonderful experience in this beautiful place in this city. You can see the hot springs, a recreation of the old town, and the hot reservoirs that extend 3,000 meters below the surface of the earth. You can also taste the sulfuric water. Just a few minutes away, there is a square and a park that are worth visiting. It’s also nice that it’s close to the Islamic center, with halal restaurants nearby as well. It was truly a lovely experience.
GM R — Google review
The Roman Baths are undoubtedly stunning – rich in history, beautifully preserved, and a must-see if you're in Bath. The exhibits are well-curated, and walking through the ancient architecture really transports you to another era. The audio guide was informative and added a lot to the experience. However, I have to say the ticket prices felt quite steep for what you get. While I appreciate the significance of the site, it seemed a bit overly priced compared to other historical attractions in the UK. I expected a longer or more interactive experience for the amount paid. Overall, it's worth visiting once for the historical value, but I do wish the pricing was more reasonable or at least offered better value for money.
Piyali G — Google review
This place was fantastic to visit! The museum portion did an excellent job of combining new and old features so you could see the original stones today while also getting a vision of what the structure would have looked like two thousand years ago. An excellent tour for all ages, however people with mobility issues may struggle a bit.
Marcia S — Google review
I think the tickets are a little bit pricey, particularly for a retiree, but there is plenty to see here and the free audio guide takes you through the one way route providing plenty of information on the various areas/objects and the history of these baths. At various parts on your route you have video projections depicting representations of roman life eg bathing/massage. The museum displays lots of the original carved stonework pieces and various artifacts. A large collection of silver coins were found on this site, some of which are displayed.
Miles M — Google review
Thoroughly enjoyed our time at the roman baths. Stepping into the Roman Baths feels like time-traveling 2,000 years back—where ancient steam meets modern awe. The architecture is stunning, the water still mysteriously warm, and the history seeps from every stone. Don’t miss the chance to sip the mineral-rich spring water (love it or hate it—it’s part of the experience!). A must-visit for history lovers and curious wanderers alike.

The Jane Austen Centre, located on historic Gay Street in Bath, is a small museum dedicated to the life and times of the renowned writer. Visitors can explore the well-preserved former townhome with a period-costumed guide and view various displays and materials related to Austen's time in Bath. The city itself was a popular destination for the upper classes during Austen's era due to its famous baths, rural setting, and vibrant social scene.
I absolutely loved my time at the Jane Austen Centre. The guides were amazing, so true to their characters. I loved learning more about Jane Austen’s family, it is interesting to see how she got her inspiration from her own life! The exhibits were interactive and interesting. I loved having a go writing with a quill. The shop of course was also amazing. One of the best places I have ever visited. This really satisfied the Jane Austen fan in me ☺️
Chloe B — Google review
This is a fun idea, but the execution is just okay. The staff was EXCELLENT though and it was fun to see them act. While there were some fun interactive bits, the museum overall felt a little dated and like it was not £20 worth of experience.
Gwen B — Google review
It's a lovely place to visit, especially is you are a Jane Austen fan. Probably not as good as the Jane Austen house in Chawton, but nonetheless worth your time. 🙂 The selection of scones and the cafe in general was a pleasant experience too.
Ferenc F — Google review
The Jane Austen Centre was a cute stop during my visit to Bath. The staff were dressed in full Regency attire, which added a fun and immersive touch. My favorite part was the family history introduction—the guide was lively and engaging, which really brought Jane’s world to life. That said, the museum itself felt a bit dated and might not offer a ton for casual fans. If you're a die-hard Austen enthusiast, it’s definitely worth a visit. But if your interest is more general, the ticket price might feel a bit steep for what you get.

The Jane Austen Centre in Bath is a lovely little spot for any Austen fan. It’s cozy, informative, and the staff—dressed in period costume—really make the experience fun. You get a nice sense of her life and how Bath influenced her writing. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in town.
Catalin G — Google review
My return trip to Bath was exciting! This time I was able to explore the Jane Austen energy that greeted me upon arrival. Walking the streets to this destination, I had to wonder, did I time travel or did the Georgian era women time travel, to help set the scene for Jane's life and stories. Upon entering this centre, I was pleased with the offerings. The entry ticket includes a very informative and well done guided introduction through Jane Austen's life followed by an amazing immersive self-guided tour. I loved how the staff was wonderfully dressed in character and nicely managed the flow of visitors very well. This place has a few surprises including a lovely tea room for a proper cuppa (if one chooses), a beautiful gift shop, and more immersion opportunities to integrate more into Jane's energy. Special thank you to King George III for his presence was truly felt on this UK trip and tied in beautifully with the time period of Jane's life. I look forward to tucking in with my special edition Emma book purchased here, continuing to work with Jane Austen's inspiring spirit, and writing my own unwritten story with Love. Cheers!

Really fun museum with lots of great information and artifacts from Jane Austen’s life and family, film adaptations, and cultural impact.

If you’re a Jane Austen lover, the museum is a must see! The staff are lovely people who embrace their roles and the museum itself is beautifully curated and offers a wonderful glimpse into the life of Jane Austen with a highlight on her time in Bath. Don’t forget to get a photo in the costume booth and head upstairs for a lovely cup of tea in the tearooms.

Bridge

Pulteney Bridge, constructed in 1774 by Robert Adam, is a picturesque and historic landmark in Bath. It spans the River Avon and is adorned with rows of shops on both sides, reminiscent of Venice's Rialto. The bridge's notable architecture, designed in a symmetrical Palladian style during the Georgian era, makes it a popular destination for sightseers and photographers alike. Its location offers stunning views from Parade Bridge, Parade Gardens, and the weir.
Beautiful bridge and beautiful view!! I love bird watching and this bridge offered a great opportunity to watch birds! We saw pigeons, gulls, and a swan. The bridge is gorgeous and the water below is very unique. Highly recommend checking out when you’re in Bath!
Cate A — Google review
We visited the place on a rainy day, and honestly, it was still such a peaceful and enjoyable experience. The light rain added a kind of charm to the whole place – the wooden bridge, the gentle ripples in the water, and the surrounding greenery all felt extra calm and beautiful. Even though the weather wasn’t perfect, we didn’t mind at all. It was quiet, atmospheric, and gave us a chance to just slow down and take in the moment. Definitely worth a stop if you're nearby – rain or shine!
Piyali G — Google review
Pulteney Bridge is a must-see in Bath, famous for its elegant Georgian architecture and the rare feature of having shops built along both sides of the bridge. Designed by Robert Adam in the 18th century, it stands out as one of only four such bridges in the world. The bridge’s classic Palladian style, with its graceful arches and detailed stonework, makes it a favourite for photographers and history lovers alike. Walking across the bridge, you can browse charming boutiques and cafes, which adds to the lively atmosphere. The views from the bridge, especially overlooking the River Avon and the crescent-shaped weir, are stunning—don’t forget to take photos from Parade Gardens for the best angle. While the bridge can get busy, especially in peak tourist seasons, it remains a peaceful and beautiful place to soak up the history of Bath. Its central location also makes it easy to include in any walking tour of the city. Overall, Pulteney Bridge offers a unique blend of history, architecture, and local life, making it a highlight of any visit to Bath.
Dipen S — Google review
Worth a visit, especially as it’s part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its unique architecture - taking inspiration from the bridges of Florence and Venice - makes it both functional and visually striking. Stretching over the River Avon, the design draws plenty of tourists and photographers. It’s a lovely spot to pause, snap a photo, and take in the view. While there isn’t a lot immediately around the bridge itself, a short walk will lead you to a spacious grassy area - perfect for relaxing and soaking up the weather, if you’re lucky enough to catch a sunny day like I did.
Eliza H — Google review
We spent a beautiful Sunday as a family at Pulteney Bridge in Bath, and it honestly couldn’t have been a better day. The weather was absolutely amazing – clear blue skies and just the right temperature, which made exploring the area even more enjoyable. Pulteney Bridge itself is stunning and unique, with its historic architecture and charming little shops lining both sides. It’s one of those places where every angle offers a perfect photo opportunity. Whether you’re standing on the bridge capturing the flowing River Avon beneath, or taking wider shots from Parade Gardens or the riverbanks, there’s no shortage of beautiful views. We got some lovely family photos, scenic shots of the bridge itself, and even a few candid moments by the water. There’s plenty to do around the bridge as well. You can browse the independent boutiques, enjoy a coffee in one of the cafés, or simply stroll along the river for a relaxing experience. We even spotted boat tours leaving from nearby, which would be a brilliant way to see more of Bath from a different perspective. The whole area around Pulteney Bridge is lively but not too crowded, and it has a really welcoming atmosphere. I would definitely recommend spending your day in Bath and making Pulteney Bridge a part of it. Whether you’re after history, great photography spots, or just a relaxing family outing, it ticks all the boxes. We’ll certainly be returning!
Monica C — Google review
Pulteney Bridge is one of the nicest spots in Bath. It’s an old stone bridge with little shops built along it, which makes it feel really unique. You can grab a coffee, do some shopping, and enjoy great views of the river and the waterfall below. Fun fact: part of Les Misérables was filmed here, so it’s got a bit of movie fame too. It’s a great place for a stroll and some photos.
Ayyub C — Google review
An incredible experience! The whole area around Pulteney Bridge is absolutely beautiful. The view of the river, the historic architecture, and the peaceful atmosphere make it a wonderful spot to visit. There are many birds flying around, adding even more charm to the place.

Beautiful bridge, but only on one side unfortunately. The other side needs some repairs, but it's still very nice. There is a cafe inside the bridge, with a cool view of the river, I recommend visiting it

Seafood restaurant
The Scallop Shell is a charming seafood restaurant with a rustic and artsy ambiance. The interior is filled with colorful distressed furniture, and the decor includes unique elements like light fittings made from colanders and fishing nets. The menu features unfussy plates of fresh shellfish for starters, while mains include options like hake in crisp batter and grilled skate served with homemade tartare sauce in a pretty scallop shell. This award-winning restaurant offers sustainably sourced seafood that changes daily based on local markets.
The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered a few starters, and they were flawless. For the main course, we chose cod fish and chips, which were very fresh. The portions were generous, and everything was beautifully presented. The staff was warm, friendly, and attentive, making sure we felt well taken care of throughout our visit. The beautiful and cozy interior added to the experience, making it even more enjoyable and memorable. This is definitely a place worth visiting, and I highly recommend it!

I had a fantastic lunch here with five friends, and it was an experience to remember! The scallop shell dish was a standout – beautifully presented and cooked to perfection – while the fresh fish was bursting with flavor and showcased the chefs’ expertise. The service was lovely, attentive, and made us feel right at home. The chefs were not only skilled but also friendly, which added a warm, personal touch to the meal. Located conveniently in the city centre with on-street parking nearby, it’s an excellent choice for a group lunch or any occasion. A truly memorable dining experience – we’ll definitely be back!

We came to the Scallop Shell for a celebratory dinner and it did not disappoint! The menu id brilliant showcasing a wide array of seafood so much so it was hard to pick! We went for scallops and shellfish to start which were delicious followed by the Skate wing which was perfectly grilled all washed down with a lovely bottle of muscadet. I don’t live in the area but I’d come back for a weekend in Bath just to eat here! Would highly recommend to anyone who loves seafood. Our waitress was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu - thanks to the team for a fab evening!

An exceptional seafood dining experience with a touch of elegance. The atmosphere is refined yet inviting, perfect for a special meal. Every dish we tried was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious, from the fresh oysters to the classic fish and chips, and the Scallop Shell Classic Prawn Cocktail. Each bite showcased the quality of the ingredients and the kitchen’s attention to detail. The staff were professional, attentive, and made us feel truly welcomed. A must-visit for seafood lovers looking for an unforgettable dining experience!

Delicious sea foods! I loved everything I got - from the fish and chips to the whole crab, white prawns, fishcake, and scallops! Definitely worth the visit. The chairs were only a bit inconvenient as it was difficult to put my jacket and bag on it, but overall a great place. I was able to take a look at how the chef was taking and managing orders, and I can say everyone was very professional.
Nikol H — Google review
You must order the grilled scallops! It is the best scallop I have had in my entire life. The scallop itself is fresh and so sweet and the cooking makes it taste way more better. They add perfect amount of salt and butter, not too much and not too little. It is so good that I ordered it twice. I also had oysters which are great as well. The fish and chips is good and better than average but I recommend you order other dishes. I had the mango sorbet as dessert which I personally think it is too sweet. Besides food, staff is great and the restaurant is well decorated.
Jettarin J — Google review
On Friday at 2 pm, we visited The Scallop Shell and were pleased to find a table available even though we arrived early. To start, we shared a couple of oysters and scallops, both of which were wonderfully fresh and full of flavor. For the main course, we enjoyed **sole and mullet**, both cooked beautifully and served with crispy chips—though they were a touch too salty for our liking. The staff were friendly and welcoming, though we did have to remind them about our drinks and ask twice for sugar for our tea. Despite these small hiccups, the overall experience was lovely, relaxed, and delicious —a great spot for seafood lovers!

Chez Dominique offers a modern French and European dining experience with à la carte options as well as 2- or 3-course prix fixe menus. Despite its French name, the restaurant is actually run by two Brits and exudes an understated European elegance. The ambiance inside feels like a slice of Paris, especially when seated in the semi-private room at the back with views over the weir.
We had a lovely time at Chez Dominique, tasty food, warm atmosphere and great service. We ate from the a la carte seafood side of the menu and were very impressed. The sea bass and cod dishes were cooked to perfection and presented beautifully and would recommend.

Lovely Sunday Lunch, great menu and wine list with good selection for everyone. The wild garlic soup was excellent 👌🏻 The scallops starter was a disappointment, it contains three small scallops, all overcooked to different levels and textures. The sauce / dressing was great. For main we had the duck, lamb and beef - all cooked to perfection, pink and juicy, well seasoned. Fries were crispy and nice. The vegetables on the plate and as a side were too soft and bland, could have done with more TLC. Desserts were stunningly good, simple ingredients, perfect presentations and creative. It felt like there was one apprentice cooking vegetables with minimal care while everything else was well taken care of. However, this should not stop anyone from trying this lovely little gem.

Absolute Gem of a place. Booked here based off online reviews for a day trip to Bath! So happy I did. Was so happy with the quality of the food and the drinks! Very good drinks menu as well as variety for the food menu! I’m a Chef myself and everything was spot on! Definitely recommend! Pictured is the special which was whole Brixham Plaice and the wood pigeon starter! Cooked to perfection could peel bones back with a fork! Good cocktail menu as well as wine list. We finished with a cheese plate and 2 glasses of port. So satisfied! Service was mega, greeted from as soon as we stepped in the door and very attentive and polite wait staff. If I’m ever back in Bath I’ll be back.

The Olive Tree Restaurant, located within The Queensberry Hotel in Bath, is a standout dining destination with its Michelin-starred status and elegant setting. The restaurant offers an array of tasting menus including options for vegetarians, pescatarians, vegans, and those who prefer dairy-free dishes. A charming little restaurant serving high-quality food in a relaxed, refreshing setting. The crab dish was especially enjoyable—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. It was the perfect stress-free dinner—simple, satisfying, and memorable.

Good standard for a 1 star. Manager in shift felt a bit disconnected or odd if I may say. All the waiters were professional and attentive. Wine was delicious and well recommended. We had the 3 course set with amuse bouche and petits fours, flavours were different and interesting, chefs coming to the tables was refreshing to see and well executed. It left a bit to desire on actual course size and time that it took for us to finish our meal. It was all too quick. The atmosphere in the restaurant was quite nice. I would just say the walls were missing some extra decor. Overall good experience, though for the price paid it left a bit to desire.

This was one of the best meals we've had. We arrived a bit early and had some cocktails in the hotel bar upstairs from the restaurant. Would recommend as they really have some different and special drinks. Then the restaurant itself was good from the off with attentive, friendly and not too formal service. All the staff seemed to be enjoying their work and understood the food. We had 5 courses with wine pairing. Hard to pick a favourite course as it was all brilliant and we tried some new flavours and ingredients. Would definitely like to go back.

We had a lovely meal with a great array of flavours, a thoroughly enjoable experience. The only very small issue, and this is more of an issue for some than others, but because it is part of the hotel the toilets are quite a long walk away. Also I would suggest they add signs of how to get back to the restaurant from the toilets. Nice toilets mind :)

Amazing food, and the time between dishes was perfect which some fine dining spots get wrong by making it too long or short. The trout, pumpkin, and deer were particularly incredible.

The food was excellent, which should be expected for a Michelin Star restaurant, but the service really impressed me. I wanted "more" for this meal due to the expectation of the rating, and the staff really delivered. They took our lead and engaged when we initiated. The sommelier was a true gem...very thoughtful and attentive. I loved the presentation of the food and timing of the meal. We will talk about Olive Tree for years to come. Bonus Review: The Queensbury Hotel attached the restaurant is spectacular. Highly recommend as well!

March 2025: my second visit so updated review. Food every bit as divine as last time....wonderful service, exquisite drinks pairing and cosy, calm and comfortable surroundings. I wont leave it as long for my nect visit. Previous review from 2023: I love tasting menus and a bit of experimentation. They certainly like to innovate and experiment here, I've had some completely new tasting experiences today with the 9 course menu and accompanying wine flight. The standout dishes on the current menu is a to-die-for pea dish, like a pea mousse with caviar, it was mouthwatering. The lobster dish with a gorgeous sauce, butter and sweetcorn, is absolutely divine. Also the bread they served, I don't usually like bread, but this was out-of-this-world, seriously, I devoured it. The resteraunt were great at giving me substitutes for things I really hate, specifically goats cheese which is strong and abundant in one dish, veal/deer and beef tartare (not for me!!!), they gave me lovely alternatives and were really nice about it. Great, place, I will be back.

My husband and I visited here for the first time for a celebratory anniversary meal, and what can I say? Wow! Firstly, we are both so grateful for the amazing service we received from each and every member of staff who we came across. But secondly, the food… oh my gosh! What an experience. My husband and I are both vegan, and the food was adapted to such an incredible standard. That fermented carrot ravioli would be our choice of meal every single day, it was so delicious. Thank you for the amazing experience!

Beckford Canteen is a new restaurant located in a former Georgian greenhouse, offering contemporary British cuisine with a nostalgic twist. The head chef, George Barson, incorporates South West ingredients into dishes like rarebit with beer pickled onions and confit pork belly with pumpkin. Guests can also enjoy live jazz, funk, soul, and swing music while savoring seasonal small plates at the restaurant.
Gem in Bath, perfect setting for a nice dinner. Very helpful staff and quick service. The specials run out quite quickly so try to go early and order your food. Good cocktails and craft beer. The food is perfectly cooked and served. We really enjoyed our dinner here. Be sure to book at least couple of days in advance.

Hands down the BEST roast in Bath! Finally returned to Beckford Canteen to devour their stunning Sunday Roast. Just as good as I remembered it with impeccable food and superb service. I had the roast pork belly served with greens, cauliflower cheese, confit potato & a Yorkshire pudding. The potatoes are a real showstopper - so light and crispy, a pure delight. Definitely a top spot in beautiful Bath and worth a visit if you want to celebrate a special occasion.

DELICIOUS!! We went for a Sunday roast after the Bath marathon and WOW the food was amazing. Beef was perfectly cooked and the potatoes were just incredible. Staff were lovely and attentive! Will definitely be returning :)

Went for Sunday Lunch Atmosphere very homely and intimate. A lot bigger on the inside than looking through the window. Front of house staff very pleasant, taking coats etc. Now I would have had a starter, but neither of the (only) 2 choices spoke to me. Whilst I understand that on a Sunday, a smaller menu than normal is provided, I would have expected two or three additional options; Smoked Salmon and prawns, pâté Anyway, decided instead to have the bread for two. I must say, very good sourdough. The correct amount of tang, and the perfect fluffy innards. I would have liked a bit more than two pieces - though I suppose it was more appetiser. If I had had a starter, my opinion would be different. The roast was nothing short of incredible in each element, which I will now detail. Roast Pork: A tantalising U shape of pork flesh and fat. Those who like crackling will swoon at the outer ring of crunch and flavour. Some could say it is too fatty, to that I say - order the chicken instead. Silver Dollar Potatoes: Thin layers of starch bliss. These melt in your mouth sudo roasties were incredibly moreish, and surprisingly quite light! This is because they don’t contain a cream element (unlike a fan favourite of mine, the dauphinois) Veg: A tad sparten on veg. I understand it’s for impact but I could have done with more carrots. Cauliflower cheese: Rich cheesey goodness. Tasted just as it should, and free from over cooked blotches some cauliflower cheese gets.Flurettes were perfect bite sized pieces Yorkshire Pudding: Big buttery brown beauty. Extra Gravy: Always appreciated. Overall an excellent experience, and well worth the money. I will be back.

One of my favourite fine dining spots in Bath. The food is incredible, particularly the roast. I also like that the menu changes seasonally. The service is immaculate and the team are really friendly.

Everything we tasted was delightful. The portions are perfect for trying lots of different dishes. Service was friendly. Prices were a little high. The only thing I'd change is the ambiance. It felt a little sterile. It didn't feel warm or welcoming when we arrived

My wife and I stopped in for a glass of wine after a lengthy day of sight seeing. What a gem. The staff were professional and efficient and were happy to chat with us about our day. The back patio was comfortable and felt like an English garden with all the foliage. I can’t comment on the food, but the dishes we saw looked fabulous. Overall, you can’t go astray here.

Italian restaurant
Sotto Sotto offers a classic Italian menu with a contemporary twist in a charming setting of candlelit vaulted cellars adorned with bare stone walls. The restaurant prides itself on using high-quality ingredients sourced from Italy and locally to create delectable dishes such as calamaretti fritti ai sette sapori, fettuccine al ragu dagnello con fonduta di Pecorino, and branzino in crosta di noci.
This place is ranked number one restaurant in Bath for a very good reason!! Absolutely superb atmosphere, service, and outstanding food. I would definitely recommend booking well in advance, which can be done easily online. Beautiful, unique location, very central to Bath so easily walkable if your stopping in the city centre. The standard and quality of service makes this place truly memorable and has made us keen to return on our next visit to Bath in the summer. The food was fresh, high quality, and cooked to perfection. Exceptional is the best word!!

If you’re looking for a high quality meal with excellent service, food and staff, then visit this place. It’s hard to get a booking though, which I can only see as a positive, but they did accommodate an earlier slot than our original 21:30 booking. This isn’t a casual pizza type place, but 10/10 quality Italian dishes in a quirky, but beautiful setting. The initial cocktails we had tasted great, as did our starters and mains. We finished it off with a limoncello and almond biscuit as the food portions were very generous, so we skipped dessert. Lucky was the name of our waiter, and he was on the ball. I thought considering we had a starter, cocktails, 2 glasses of wine and a champagne, 2 mains and 2 sides with some limoncellos, the sum of £135 was excellent value for money. Couldn’t fault this place in the slightest and would definitely come here again.

I have to say that this is the best Italian restaurant since I came to Bath. The unique cave bar design attracted me the first sight my friends and I walked into the door. All stuff there are quite welcoming and considerate, energetic as well, especially the gentleman Gianluca he is very friendly and patient, and knew exactly what customers are in need timely. Considering the cuisine, all we ordered had a lovely flavor, personally medium raw beef cooked with red wine are my favorite, the other three meals together are quite nice combination. I think for Guanluca and his colleagues, they take their job as a realistic art immersed in daily life, namely based on customers’ individual taste and vibe. And the dinning table is where they draw the marvelous works. In a word, it’s Definitely a must-go classic place to have dinner if you are going to travel in Bath!

My partner reserved Sotto Sotto for us 2 months in advance. Worth the wait. Exceptional food throughout our 3 courses. The lamb ragu to start was faultless. The fillet of beef with pistachio crumb (photo’d) was cooked to perfection and tasted even better. A personal note to Julian who was looking after us. Attentive, informative and professional. He also made a point of giving my partner an alcohol free shot at the end of our meal as he noticed she wasn’t drinking alcohol. A very classy touch. I would take the king here. We will be back.

I visited with my son today for a celebratory 21st birthday lunch. Could not fault it, friendly welcome, professional service with superb attention to detail. The food was fantastic, incredible tiramisu! The venue is in a cellar and has a lovely atmosphere. Will definitely return. Thank you.

Brilliant food and service! The food (and bread) is a bit too salty for me. Next time I’ll ask the staff to make it less salty. But overall everything is great, and they provide a free small lychee-flavoured drink—a lovely surprise! The spaghetti may look only a mouthful in the picture, but the portion is actually good.
