A historic city of parks and palaces, museums, and music, Austria’s capital has much to offer tourists. The Hofburg Imperial Palace is home to the Austrian president, and the nearby Schönbrunn Palace is a must-see attraction. The Belvedere Palace and the Spanish Riding School are also popular tourist attractions, as are the many gardens, theatres, art exhibitions, and music halls that line the streets of this beautiful baroque city.

The Hofburg Imperial Palace, located in the heart of Vienna, is a grand complex that served as the residence and seat of power for the Habsburgs. This historic site, dating back to the 13th century, stands as a testament to the imperial history of the Danube monarchy. Today, it houses various institutions including the Austrian Federal President's office, museums such as the Sisi Museum and Court Silver Collection, and serves as an international conference center.
Timeless decor with endless ball rooms suitable for the most prestigious events on the planet. Each room has its own story and charm. Recommend visiting when events occur.

Absolutely beautiful library. It's definitely worth the admission fee, even for just a short stop. The only drawback is the placement of modern plaques and light bars.
Carston M — Google review
Beautiful outside. The sissi museum inside was great as well but too crowded unfortunately. The national library was breathtaking, super worth the visit!

The place is beautiful, worth taking some good pictures here. You can also relax and de-stress by the grass where people enjoy the sun. Worth the visit.

A good architectural building. The main structure is much more gorgeous, but I believe some additions were made later that don’t always match the original design.

Hofburg is a massive, historic, from outside itself its architecture is breathtaking..it has a arc shape,Walking through it feels like stepping into a whole different era. Every corner has a different architecture. It's like the heart of Vienna’s and honestly the courtyards is one of my favorite parts of the trip. Super photogenic, super iconic, must see place 🤩👍🏻

The Hofburg Palace in Vienna is a historic complex that once served as the residence of the Austrian emperors. Built in the 13th century, it combines Renaissance, Baroque, and Rococo styles. Today, it houses the Austrian National Library, the Imperial Chapel, and the President's offices. Visitors can explore its lavish rooms and museums, including the Sisi Museum, dedicated to Empress Elisabeth. The Hofburg stands as a symbol of Austria's royal past and is a key cultural landmark in Vienna.

The history, the culture, the churches, the architecture, the music, the food, the beer, and above all, the people — everything in Vienna made us fall in love all over again. My wife and I will always cherish this magical city. A must-visit for anyone.

Schönbrunn Palace is an 18th-century summer residence that offers tours of its opulent rococo ceremonial rooms and lavish gardens with a maze. The palace boasts beautiful Baroque and Neo-Classical architecture, reflecting Vienna's rich history as the town of Habsburgs and Maria Theresa. It is Vienna's most visited attraction, featuring 45 luxurious state rooms, ceremonial halls, and private apartments once inhabited by Empress Elisabeth and Emperor Franz Joseph.
The Palace is a stunning place to visit. The palace itself is very grand with a beautiful design. You can really feel the history when you walk through its grand halls, rooms and the gardens especially. The building is big and elegant, with lots of detailed decorations. But the real magic happens when you step outside into the gardens. They are huge, perfectly arranged, and full of colorful flowers, fountains, and statues. The long garden paths lead you to beautiful spots like the Neptune Fountain and the Gloriette, a big building on a hill that gives you a great view of the whole area. The gardens and palace together make a wonderful place to explore. Whether you love history, nature, or just want to enjoy a peaceful walk in a beautiful place, Schönbrunn Palace is a must-see in Vienna. I will recommend buying your tickets in advance to avoid the long queues. The palace grounds hosts many event during the year like the Christmas and Easter Markets.
Cosmos N — Google review
Marvelous palace and gardens. One can spend hours walking in gardens and discover places, statues, views and romantic ruins. The palace itself is a bit overpriced. For 25 EUR of entrance fee, you can visit so called State Apartments. This is several most beautiful rooms of the palace. Tour with audio guide takes about 40 minutes. But you can spend there as much time as you want. The most annoying part is waiting for cloakroom to store jacket or bag that is not allowed inside. The queue is not organized well, the same queue is for storing your stuff and retrieving it back. You can spend there 20-30 minutes in busy time. Tickets bought in advance are for particular time slot. We missed it due to the waiting queue but fortunately there was no problem to enter the palace visit even later after the given 15minutes slot.

Schönbrunn Palace is truly a gem of Vienna — elegant, grand, and rich in history. Walking through its lavishly decorated rooms gives you a real sense of imperial life, especially with the excellent audio guide that brings the Habsburg era to life. The gardens are equally stunning: perfectly manicured, vast, and peaceful. Climbing up to the Gloriette rewards you with a panoramic view that’s absolutely worth the walk. Whether you’re a history buff, a lover of architecture, or just enjoy beautiful places, Schönbrunn is a must. It’s more than a palace — it’s an experience. Five stars, no question!!!
Marietta T — Google review
Would rate it higher if I could! This was such a great attraction and so glad I visited whilst in Vienna. We paid £35 per person to go into the palace which was reasonable, as this included the audio tour which lasted for around an hour. I’d recommend buying your ticket before you go to avoid queues. We went at 1pm on Saturday which was quite busy, so again I’d recommend a quieter day and time to avoid crowds. After learning all about the history of the palace, we roamed around the gardens and forest - which were a lovely escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. We then had some food and drink at the Easter markets, which was a lovely end to a great day!
Molly C — Google review
Really beautiful Palace and well worth a visit. Our classic ticket allowed us entry to the palace, gloriette and roof terrace, maze, privvy garden, orangery. Timed tickets to the palace and a very useful free audio guide provided. Beautiful gardens and well worth the walk up to gloriette and fountain for the stunning views of the palace, gardens, and Vienna. Privvy garden in much need of TLC and the orangery was closed apart from small area in one corner and one orange tree! Gardens not planted up as yet (we visited at Easter) but still lovely. The maze was fun too. We stopped for a drink at cafe below gloriette, but they try to charge for toilet, which I didn't pay having bought in the cafe. Loos in entry to Palace free, as the one at the outer gates were €1.
Elizabeth D — Google review
Beautiful palace with unparalleled history. Bought a book detailing the life of Empress Elizabeth - seriously recommend learning more about her if you’re a history buff! We bought the palace ticket which also allows entry into the apartments. I recommend buying them online as it helps avoid the lines. You have a timed entry (15 minute period) so make sure you respect it! There’s something for everyone, as the grounds also include gorgeous gardens (the private ones require an extra ticket) as well as a zoo!

I'd love to share a place I highly recommend. It offers a truly unique and memorable experience. The atmosphere is simply wonderful, and it's perfect for a relaxing getaway. You'll find so much to enjoy there, no matter your interests. I hope you get the chance to visit sometime!

Schönbrunn Palace is a grandiose palace set in extensive gardens & grounds. You can find several hours of interesting activities in the gardens & buildings around the main palace. The tour of palace could be longer. So much of European history had turning-point events in the rooms of this palace. The tour guide did not bring out the real history behind the magnificent interior decor. The outdoor coffee house has something special for real chocolate lovers.

Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
St. Stephen's Cathedral is a medieval Roman Catholic place of worship in Vienna, Austria. It features an ornate spire, catacombs, and a treasury museum. Visitors can explore the cathedral to admire world-renowned works of art and church utensils for a fee. The catacombs house the remains of Austrian emperors and are accessible only to guided tour groups for an additional cost.
St. Stephen’s Cathedral is an absolute masterpiece and a must-see when visiting Vienna. Its towering Gothic spires, intricate stonework, and colorful tiled roof are breathtaking from the outside — but stepping inside is where the true magic happens. The soaring ceilings, dramatic lighting, and centuries of history create a sense of awe and reverence. Climbing the tower offers spectacular panoramic views of the city, and the catacombs tour gives a fascinating (and slightly eerie) glimpse into Vienna’s past. Whether you’re drawn by faith, architecture, or history, this cathedral leaves a lasting impression. An unforgettable experience — 5 stars without a doubt.
Marietta T — Google review
St. Stephen’s Cathedral is an absolute icon of Vienna and a must-see for anyone visiting the city. The moment you step into Stephansplatz and see the towering Gothic spires and colorful tiled roof, you know you’re looking at something truly special. The craftsmanship and detail of the exterior alone are breathtaking—but the inside is just as impressive, with soaring ceilings, intricate stonework, and a deep sense of history and reverence. One of the highlights of my visit was climbing the South Tower—the views of Vienna from the top are absolutely worth the effort. There’s also an elevator to the North Tower if you prefer a less strenuous option. Don’t miss the catacombs tour either—it’s a unique and fascinating glimpse into the cathedral’s past. Whether you’re interested in architecture, history, or just want a peaceful place to reflect, St. Stephen’s offers it all. It’s not only a spiritual and cultural landmark, but also a living piece of Vienna’s identity. I left feeling moved, inspired, and in awe of the centuries of history held within its walls. Highly recommend making this a top priority on your Vienna itinerary!
Sam F — Google review
Very beautiful cathedral, both from the outside and the inside. We opted for the all inclusive tickets which were 25 euros per person. If you want you can choose what to visit and what not. The inside of the cathedral is free, but to access the central area you need to pay. After visiting the central area, we went to the Northern tower. There is an elevator with a guy inside that takes you to the top. The view from the open roof is amazing! After that, we went to the Southern tower. To access this tower, you need to go outside of the cathedral and follow the signs. Personally, what I liked about this tower is not the view once on the top (as the windows were a bit dirty), but rather the experience of getting there and the stairs. There is a gift shop there as well. After that, we went to the catacomb visit which starts at 10 am. The guide explained about the place both in German and English. Was nice, but I expected more skeletons and bones from what is exposed. No photos allowed in the catacombs.

My favorite place in Vienna. Beautiful and amazingly detailed interior and exterior. We paid just for the North Tower and the Crypt as suggested by the employee at the ticket desk and weren't disappointed. The views from above are great and seeing the tiled roof closer is very interesting. We waited about ten minutes to go up and down with the elevator. The guided tour of the crypt was very interesting if you have that kind of curiosity.

St. Stephen’s Cathedral is an icon of Vienna and a must visit place for everyone visiting the country. The detail of the exterior are breathtaking, but the inside is just as impressive, with stonework, and a deep sense of history.. If you’re interested in architecture, history, or just want a peaceful place to reflect, St. Stephen’s..It’s not only a spiritual and cultural landmark, but also tourist spots.. Highly recommend when you are visiting vienna..🤩
UMI S — Google review
A beautifully preserved gem tucked into the heart of the town, St. Stephen’s Cathedral is a quiet marvel of Gothic and Baroque architecture. The facade is impressive, but it’s the interior that truly stuns—with its soaring ceilings, detailed altars, and soft light filtering through stained glass windows, creating a serene, almost timeless atmosphere. It’s the kind of place that invites you to slow down and just take it all in. Highly recommended to walk here—the narrow streets leading up to the cathedral are charming in their own right, and parking nearby is quite limited. If you're into history, architecture, or simply enjoy peaceful, contemplative spaces, this spot is definitely worth your time. A perfect pause during a day of exploring.
Karthik R — Google review
It's a pretty cathedral with nice exterior and interior, it's definitely worth visiting as it's one of the most famous buildings in the city but there is also plenty of other churches that are just as good. A highlight was that one of the nights we went in, someone was playing the organ and the ambience was amazing. I don't know when and how often this is done, but it's a must-see/hear.
Aleksandar K — Google review
Without a doubt, this is a masterpiece of massive Gothic architecture. St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna is big in every direction. The spires outside are high above you. Knaves & chapels inside are overwhelming. This may be the center-piece of Vienna. Remember it's Gothic & not Baroque. After all the other Baroque & Romanesque cathedrals in Bavaria, this can come as a shock. Nearby, the carriage rides offer you quiet comfort around the city.

Belvedere Palace is a stunning example of Baroque architecture located in Vienna's Landstrasse district. It consists of two grand palaces separated by a beautiful French-style garden. Originally built as a summer residence for Prince Eugene of Savoy in the 18th century, it now houses an impressive art collection spanning from the Middle Ages to contemporary works, including a notable collection of Klimt paintings.
Belvedere Palace is a stunning blend of art, architecture, and history. The Baroque buildings themselves are breathtaking, set within beautifully landscaped gardens that offer serene walks and postcard-worthy views of Vienna. Inside, the palace houses one of the most impressive art collections in Europe — including Klimt’s The Kiss, which alone is worth the visit. The layout is easy to follow, and the combination of classic and modern art keeps things engaging throughout. It’s a cultural treasure that offers both beauty and depth. A perfect experience from start to finish — definitely five stars.
Marietta T — Google review
Belvedere Palace is truly one of the crown jewels of Vienna. The palace itself is stunning, with gorgeous baroque architecture and beautifully maintained gardens that are a joy to explore. But what makes the Belvedere an absolute must-visit is the incredible art collection inside—especially the world-famous works by Gustav Klimt, including The Kiss, which is even more breathtaking in person. The layout of the museum is easy to navigate, and the combination of historical rooms and modern exhibits is done so well. Each piece is curated with care, and there’s just the right amount of information to give you context without overwhelming you. The Upper Belvedere offers spectacular views of the city, and the Lower Belvedere and gardens provide a more peaceful, reflective atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to immerse yourself in art, history, and beauty all in one visit. Highly recommend setting aside a few hours to really take it all in—it’s an unforgettable experience and one of the highlights of Vienna!

Great art collection in a gorgeous former palace. Easy to get to by tram. The line for tickets was long and slow so I would recommend buying in advance (or buying online while waiting in line which is what we ended up doing). Only caveat is that if you buy the audio guide online, you listen through an app on your phone which was not particularly well-designed or intuitive but we eventually figured it out. Great collection of Klimt! We spent about 1.5 hrs at the Upper Belvedere (with relatively little time in the Medieval and modern art sections). If you plan to really explore every gallery with audio tour, give yourself more time. On a nice day, you could easily spend more time walking the gardens as well.
Meagan S — Google review
What an amazing day! We bought student tickets online which made it a lot cheaper than on the door! Where to start. The gardens, the art, the statues, the architecture ….. everything was breathtaking. Spent an amazing two hours here walking around the palace and the gardens and could’ve spent longer! The art inside the palace was beautiful curated and presented and everything was well described. It was great to see such famous paintings in person! It was such a peaceful sunny day, will be definetely be coming again!
Marta M — Google review
Didn’t make it inside, but honestly? Just walking the grounds was worth it. The architecture is unreal—proper royal flex from Prince Eugene of Savoy. The gardens are peaceful, the statues are wild, and the whole place just oozes history. Even without the museum, it’s a stunning spot to chill and take in the atmosphere. Definitely stopping by again next time—with tickets
Nikita G — Google review
It’s wonderful that such a richly designed palace—both inside and out—has been turned into a well-curated art museum. Personally, I was more impressed by the architecture than the collections. The artworks weren’t particularly extensive, but still enjoyable if you’re not a hardcore art enthusiast.
Nida Ö — Google review
Had a wonderful afternoon exploring the Palace. Entrance was spot on, right time, according to the ticket. Even if there are no places avaliable online, make sure to check in person the ticket office. For us, seems like there was an empty spot soon after we arrived. Best to take it systematically so that you see all exhibits. So thankful this place exists.

Belvedere Palace in Vienna – a once-in-a-lifetime experience! A place where art, history, and beauty come together in perfect harmony. Visiting it was a deeply moving experience – the stunning gardens, breathtaking architecture, and the masterpieces inside (especially Klimt’s paintings) create a truly special atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where time seems to stand still for a moment. I wholeheartedly recommend visiting at least once in your life – it’s worth every second!

The Vienna State Opera House, also known as Wiener Staatsoper, is a world-renowned opera house that has been hosting major productions and guided tours. It is one of the largest and most magnificent theaters globally, with a rich history dating back to 1625. The current grand Opera House was constructed in 1869 and features a French Early Renaissance style.
Went for the cheapest ticket so couldn’t really see the orchestra but just enjoyed the vibe. Do come in at least 30mins early before showtime as there is a queue to get in. Conductor was also fun in incorporating audience with the orchestra. Definitely a must do, if you are here to visit Vienna.

A World-Class Opera Experience The Vienna State Opera is absolutely unforgettable. The building itself is stunning — elegant, historic, and full of grandeur. The acoustics are phenomenal, and the level of talent on stage is world-class. Even if you’re not a regular opera-goer, the atmosphere and artistry make it a unique and moving experience. I loved how affordable standing tickets made it accessible for everyone. It’s a true cultural gem and one of the highlights of visiting Vienna. Don’t miss it.

Absolutely one of the best opera I have ever been to. Even though my seat location wasn’t the perfect one, I enjoyed and the subtitles were very useful. After the break, many people leaves and you can change to better ones if you are lucky. Make sure you get your ticket like two months earlier, you can find cheap tickets!

We usually attending the staging of operas in many european theaters, including the Staatsoper. The majestic building would need some internal renovation, but we don't want to focus on the architectural and maintenance aspects. We had never, in previous visits, purchased seats on parterre loge (box) with such terrible acoustics. Evidently it's Better to avoid the side boxes of the parterre. Immediately after the start of a one-act opera, Salome, we allowed ourselves in respectful silence to leave the loge, where we had left our coats, and to politely ask an employee if it would be possible to attend from standing room in the gallery, to at least have the opportunity to listen. Furthermore, in any opera house in Europe, even those who arrive late are allowed into the gallery. Instead we were told to follow him in the elevator but instead of the gallery we were DEPORTED without explanations and locked in a TV room. We asked to return to our seat, explaining that there had been obviously a misunderstanding and that it would be enough to tell us that we could not change seats. Incidentally, we remember that on a previous occasion at the Staatsoper, also in a loge, a well-known spectator had come and gone several times, during Le Nozze di Figaro, for telephone emergencies. Instead we were prevented from returning to our seats and we were locked in an office where we were even accused of having fake tickets, a very serious accusation, since the tickets were purchased on the site of the Staatsoper in which we are registered users! We were not allowed to return to our paid places and we had to wait for over half an hour to get our coats back, although that night it was very cold, only thanks to the intervention of a policeman. We believe that there are serious legal violations in seizing and detaining, without legal basis, persons and personal effects. We will certainly not return at the Staatsoper, due to the terror and psychological violence suffered. (The photos refer to previous visits).

Magnificent venue, glamorous night, flawless sound. A true gem of an event. And if you can’t get seats, no worries—you can buy standing room tickets directly on the opera’s website starting at 10 AM on the day of the performance, all at a very affordable price

I had a wonderful experience! The architecture of the building is truly stunning, and the warm atmosphere was enhanced by the beautiful people around. The live music created such a lovely vibe, and the artist's talent was genuinely impressive. I wholeheartedly recommend visiting this place; it’s a memorable experience that I believe everyone should have.

Plachutta Wollzeile is a renowned restaurant located on the bustling Wollzeile shopping street in Vienna. Specializing in traditional Viennese cuisine, it is particularly famous for its Tafelspitz, a delectable boiled beef rump served with broth, root vegetables, and bone marrow. The menu also features an array of other boiled meat cuts and classic dishes like Wienerschnitzel and Kaiserschmarrn pancakes for dessert.
The food was extreme Tasty! One of the best dish I had in Vienna! The beef was so well cooked that it is soft and great in favor. The apple sauce accompany made the beef with very fresh taste! The soup is also very delicious with all the beef favor. The fried potato accompanying is also very tasty! The waiter are very helpful and recommended me some classical dish to order aside with the Tafelspitz ~~~

Fine Viennese cuisine. I was pleased to see fish on the menu, as it was asparagus season. I do prefer green asparagus to white however. The restaurant was busy - booking essential. The atmosphere is good, with quality tablecloths and napkins to add to the experience. Food was great quality, if expensive.

The restaurant that is always crowded regardless of the weather - people are having their meals at 4pm, 6pm, 11.30am. So make your reservation because seating is tight. The ambiance was so nice and quite romantic in the evening. I could imagine how wonderful the terrace/ sun room seating on sunny spring day! Despite the location on the busy touristic area, the restaurant is rather formal and the patrons were a bit more dressy/ business casual The service was second to none. Pristine, courteous, and friendly this was rare standard. The food was really good. Nothing offensive and everything really was tasty. Good portion for 3 course meal. This is the restaurant I’d be happy to go back to.

Rich food in the heart of Vienna. Their tafelspitz is absolutely delicious. I'd recommend to try this local boiled beef dish when you are in Vienna. It comes with bone marrow, roast bread, potato salad and big portion of boiled beef along with plenty of soup. Can easily fulfill anyone. Also have other must try local foods.

An exceptional dining experience – for over 20 years We have been loyal guests at Plachutta Wollzeile for more than two decades, and each visit reaffirms why this place is so special. The food is consistently excellent – from the classic Tafelspitz, the perfectly seasoned beef tartare, to the seasonal white asparagus and the delicious shrimp with rice – every dish is prepared with care and precision. But what truly sets Plachutta apart is the outstanding service. The staff are not only highly professional and attentive, but also genuinely welcoming – a combination that is rare even at top international restaurants. Whether you’re visiting Vienna for the first time or returning, Plachutta Wollzeile is a must. It’s a place where tradition meets quality, and guests are treated with warmth and respect every single time.

Great food but nothing out of the blue. Vienna is not really known for its food, but when you visit and don’t wanna be disappointed- go here. The food is great, but it comes with a hefty price. Nice atmosphere, nice staff (which is not so common in Vienna) and good food. Had a tartar and a schnitzel. Both tasted nice. Bill came to around 130 euro tho..

The service at Plachutta Wollzeile - Vienna was Excellent! The staff was polite and attentive. The atmosphere outside was comfortable and welcoming, while also exhibiting a sense of refinement and style. The seating outside also gives a feel for the city life in Vienna. The Goose Liver Crème Brûlée as a starter was very smooth, tasty and creamy. The recommended ‘Original Wiener Schnitzel’ for our main course was the best and most delicious Wiener Schnitzel I have ever tasted and the potato salad as a side definitely complements the Schnitzel and is a must. Highly recommend restaurant if you want to experience the speciality dishes of Viennese Cuisine while in Austria 🇦🇹

Steirereck is a formal Austrian restaurant located in the lush greenery of Stadtpark, offering refined creative cuisine and boasting two Michelin stars. The elegantly attired dining room overlooks the Wien Fluss and features huge windows that flood the space with light. The restaurant has gained a strong reputation for its modern Austrian cuisine, using fresh local produce to create forward-thinking dishes. Steirereck offers a 7-course menu at an affordable price compared to international standards.
An unforgettable dining experience that exceeded all expectations. The food was truly exceptional, crafted with great attention to detail, and presented beautifully. The staff were incredibly friendly, polite, and highly professional, making the entire experience feel warm and welcoming. Special recognition goes to the waitstaff for their attentive service and to the gentleman who served the cheese, whose expertise and presentation added a unique and memorable touch. From start to finish, it was a lunch that left a lasting impression, and I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking an extraordinary culinary experience.

An extraordinary dining experience! Our group of six chose the six-course menu, and it exceeded all expectations. Each dish was a masterful blend of flavors, creativity, and generous portions. The service was impeccable, ensuring every detail was attended to with care. The bread and cheese cart offered an extensive and delightful selection, while the wine pairings were perfectly curated. The venue itself exudes elegance and sophistication, creating the perfect ambiance for an unforgettable evening.

The setting is very nice, and service is great too! The food is just incredible; the attention to detail is spot on, and the dishes are innovative. I particularly recommend the Char, the Fawn, and the Sturgeon. The staff even gave us a nice complimentary chocolate tart for my boyfriend and I's anniversary celebration. Absolutely worth a visit ☺️

I brought my wife here for our honeymoon and the dining experience was out of this world and will be a memory cherished forever. The food was extraordinary, as was the service. Obviously, this comes with a huge price tag, but it was worth every proverbial penny.

Truly exceptional from start to finish, this meal absolutely blew me away. There is a good reason Steirereck has 2 stars - they are well-earned! My husband and I each had the 5-course lunch menu and chose totally different selections, yet we both felt strongly that each and every last dish was truly fantastic. The dishes really showcase the best of Viennese cuisine and the highest quality ingredients. Some highlights for me were the traditional Viennese wedding soup, the duck, and the noodle and poppy seed dessert dish, each a nod to authentic Viennese ingredients. The service was absolutely perfect, as well. We were especially impressed with the cheese selection and the knowledge and expertise of the fromager, who customized a selection of cheeses individual to my husband and I and our tastes and preferences. I also have a tree nut allergy, which the staff was able to accommodate with great care and grace. I always appreciate this so much as it helps put my mind at ease to enjoy the experience so much more. Also, as we dined at Steirereck during the month of December, there were several thoughtful, adorable Christmas touches, like traditional Austrian Christmas cookies, prepared fresh for us from the cart. Finally, the atmosphere and decor is chic, modern, and bright while maintaining a coziness. I highly recommend Steirereck to anyone looking for a truly special and memorable, top-tier dining experience, or anyone who wants to experience the best of Vienna's cuisine. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon!

One of the most disappointing Michelin restaurants I've ever eaten at. How this restaurant is ranked 17th best in the world makes no sense. Read my review below. The initial check in process wasn't very welcoming. They were about 3 people checking other parties in, so it felt very chaotic. The service was also not very good. Everyone seemed nice enough, but the service was very stiff, like they were following a script. We ordered the 7 course menu, but had to pick out all our dishes, which was odd. I assumed this was a real tasting menu where I didn't have to make decisions. What was most concerning were their attention to allergies. I mentioned twice in my email and calls I was allergic to chick peas and pine nuts. The allergies weren't brought up when we sat down so I asked the head waiter serving us, and he said he didn't think any of his dishes had those ingredients but he can check. Really? Attention to detail is lacking. The food itself was lackluster. I don't remember any stand out dishes. The best part is actually the bread service, where a guy with a cart rolls around with 20 different breads. The tasting menu was about $225 euros a person but the food didn't match the price. There weren't any expensive items like cavier or truffles, but instead cheap ingredients like catfish and some really cheap and chewy beef shoulder. They also nickel and dime for everything. A sever wanted us to pick a welcome drink from his cart. We picked a white wine, but they charged for that. There's also some plating charge, where they charge 9 euros a person. This was on top of the $75 euro service charge. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Well - it's pretty much what you expect from a restaurant being consistently voted as one of the best in the world - both quality wise as well as when it comes to prices - for a 7 course menu incl wine pairing + cover charge the price currently (Nov 2024) is about 375 euro per person - but what you get for that is a great evening with amazing food and very attentive service. Portions are in a way that you will not go home hungry, the bread and butter will be refilled from a great selection of breads from the best bakers in Vienna and some homemade variants, the cheese cart is out of this world. Every single dish was great. There is not a single thing that could be better - which is what you would expect for the money you pay.

An unforgettable experience! The 6-course menu at Steirereck was a true delight – creative, perfectly balanced, and beautifully presented. The ambiance is elegant and inviting, and the service is absolutely top-notch.

Super friendly service and absolutely amazing Schnitzel! I tried several good places for Schnitzel during my stay, but this one was by far the most delicious. Highly recommended!

Charming atmosphere, very popular with locals. The small sandwiches with a variety of flavors are excellent. The cocktails are a bit expensive.

The food here? Absolutely fantastic! From the very first bite, the small appetizers set the tone; unique, flavorful, and perfectly crafted. But for me, the real star of the show was the schnitzel. Crispy, golden perfection, served with a delightful little jam pot and an irresistibly good potato salad. Every bite was pure comfort with a touch of elegance. Pro tip: Whatever you do, don’t skip the lemon! A few drops over the schnitzel take it from delicious to downright legendary. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you!

An institution in Vienna, a must to visit and people watch the day away. The service is great, the food greater and the atmosphere one to take in, absolutely loved our time here, if you can get a seat, take it and enjoy the pleasures of the past.

Great place for lunch. Service was quick and efficient. They've got it down to a science. Lovely atmosphere. Super clean restrooms. Loved the waiters, friendly, well-spoken. The restaurant is in a very good location in a high end area but the menu prices were really reasonable.

Stunning cafe area, and well appointed restaurant. Staff was gr8, food was excellent, coffee was the best we had in town! Thank you for a gr8 experience, we will be back! Pricey, but you get premium service/venue.

Quality food. Bread appetiser was great. Wagyu beef, Wiener schintzel and duck meat were tender and juicy. Volcano truffle cream soup was excellent. Melange coffee was a nice way to end our lunch.

Fine dining restaurant
Restaurant Konstantin Filippou is a culinary gem nestled in Vienna's historic First District, where the rich heritage of its chef shines through every dish. With roots stemming from a Greek father and an Austrian mother, Konstantin Filippou artfully blends Mediterranean flavors with local Austrian ingredients to create a unique dining experience. Opened just last March, this restaurant has quickly gained acclaim for its innovative approach to cuisine.
Tucked away in a quiet corner of Vienna, Konstantin Filippou offers a dining experience that is both refined and intensely personal. The open kitchen concept, where each dish receives its final touch in full view of the guests, adds a layer of transparency to the experience, though the atmosphere remains somewhat sterile. Service is polished, if not overly warm, with a sommelier whose approach leans more toward upselling than genuine guidance—but at least with a refreshing dose of honesty. The meal, however, is where Filippou’s vision truly shines. The cured tuna with duck liver and eel, complemented by morel mushrooms, apricot oil, and a delicate foam, is an umami bomb, perfectly layered and exquisitely executed. The Norwegian scallop with almond milk, truffle, and artichoke is sleek and seductive, a dish that lingers in memory long after the last bite. A more restrained creation, the wild-caught zander on beef tartare, with onion powder, carrots, and a duo of sauces—one reduced from veal broth and the other from Txogitxu beef—is technically flawless but lacks the wow factor of other courses. Then comes the real surprise: a complimentary lobster dish, bathed in grapefruit sauce with a veal jus and Peruvian spices, an exhilarating and unexpected burst of flavors. The pigeon with truffles and brioche sets a new benchmark, surpassing even similar dishes at Silvio Nickol, with the brioche standing out as nothing short of insane. Dessert maintains the high standard—a coconut cake with strawberry and rose sauce, cool and elegant, the perfect way to close the meal. Perhaps the highlight of the evening, beyond the food itself, is the spontaneous and genuine interaction with the sous chef. Sensing a deeper curiosity, he personally takes over the service from the third course onward, leading to a lively exchange about Vienna’s fine dining scene and experiences across Paris and London. A glass of red wine arrives, perfectly paired with the pigeon—on the house. The evening ends with a thoughtful final touch: two delicate pastries boxed up to take home, a small but telling gesture that reinforces the restaurant’s ability to surprise and delight. Konstantin Filippou delivers not just remarkable food but an experience shaped by creative, thrilling dishes and an honest, warm connection with those who bring them to life.

We had a nice time there but a bit long. It's fix menu, 6-7-8-9 dishes. We ordered 8 dishes and one of them with pigeon. The food quality is awesome. For a big size men, can be a bit small menu. If you plan to go there, dinner will be long. We were able to finish it 3 hours. That's only minus of the restaurant.

We enjoyed a nice evening here - 9 courses. The food is good but with a bit of history of Michelin rates places, there are better ones especially, when it come to value for money. There are high expectations to servicer and food. The dishes are served each on well designed plate which makes everything quite shiny. But there is still a.way to go to make it perfect. Service is not convincing - especially when you recognize, that in both bottles you bought for a bunch of money, there is wine left, when you leave. Finally the chef show up outside of the door of his place, when we left. I have seen more engaged and convincing chefs.on that level.

The food is absolutely amazing, but I'm afraid the service could be better. The menu is mainly fish-oriented, and they have a very tasty pigeon as one of the main courses! Each dish is absolutely delicious, and the combination of different tastes is just perfect! The presentation is gorgeous and a real feast for the eyes! This is truly two-star Michelin food! The only thing that let this place down was the service, which wasn't quite up to scratch given the price. We had to ask several times for the wine menu and it took a little while to get the wine (after two amuse-bouches). We're used to attentive waiters refilling wine and water at that restaurant level, which was sadly lacking here. Maybe this happened due to the restaurant being split into two rooms? For me personally, the service is an important part of the experience, so I was quite disappointed. It's interesting that the service we got at "O boufes" (his second restaurant right next door) was much better.

Restaurant Konstantin Filippou in the heart of Vienna with 2 Michelin-starred is known for its innovative fusion of Mediterranean and Austrian flavours. Tasting menu in which fish and seafood are given top billing. Creative and sophisticated dishes that appeal not only to the eyes but also to the palate. Minimalist and elegant interior design. The Eel was the most appealing dish to me. Professional service although a bit robotic and impersonal.

Unbelievable food. The quality speaks for itself, some of the freshest tasting food I’ve ever had. The staff really go above and beyond to look after you, they’re so attentive and so polite. My boyfriend and I had the 3 course business lunch, with a bottle of wine, and we added a dessert on too. It was such a great experience, and a highlight of our stay in Vienna. We will definitely remember this meal for a very long time. Highly recommend!

A one of a kind food experience that was particularly adventurous for me as an American but they absolutely nailed the experience and the food was sophisticated and tasteful, even when there were flavors that I did not expect to like. If I remember correctly the first dish had some sort of mollusk and I usually do not like mollusks but the sauce, preparation and pairings made it palatable and enjoyable. Some of the later dishes like the caviar dish had some very familiar and homy flavors like barbecue that warmed my soul, the pigeon was light, and we especially loved the desserts (4 dessert courses is never a bad thing I’d say, and the right progression from light and fruity servings to velvety chocolate). The service was pretty much impeccable, although there was perhaps at one point a slight miscommunication about my gluten allergy where a brioche was brought out to me and I questioned whether it had gluten free to the waiter and he said yes but my instincts told me it did have gluten and when I asked a different waitress she immediately took it away because it did in fact have gluten. Good thing I noticed or I would be very sick. Other than that, the service was a beautifully coordinated dance. The only two notes I have for this restaurant are that the gluten free bread was a bit rubbery and the service was quite long, a lot longer than I expected in both timing and the amount of courses we ended up receiving. The 9 course option was 14 dishes total and we arrived at 18 and left at 23:15. Despite this, this was a magical experience that if you have the chance to experience yourself you would not regret it. Some other small details that I thought made the experience magical were the fact that some of the chefs were prepping the dishes in the dining room which is a fun show to watch and the dinnerware was extremely creative, each dish had a new and fun plate or bowl or cup that looked gorgeous, often added to the suspense of the dish with an opening component, and some of them I believe were even handmade clay. We had a fantastic time on our anniversary dinner.

We agree with Björns review week ago. Looking back I would have picked 7 courses menu, as the fresh cold scallop with truffles and pigeon fillet were not so special to pay extra 100 euros. The ingredients seemed fresh and good quality. All the courses were prepared with care and beautiful plates, but we couldn't understand the "taste goal" of the chef in most of them. There were two courses that we loved - langoustine and caviar. Plus, 3 out of 4 desserts very delicious. Non-alco pairing had several interesting and nice options. An overall experience felt that the value was smaller than the bill. Unfortunately.

Silvio Nickol is a renowned gourmet restaurant located in Vienna's Coburg Palace, headed by the celebrated culinary expert Silvio Nicolas. With an impressive career spanning across Germany, Belgium, and Austria, Nicolas earned 2 Michelin stars for his cuisine in 2009. The restaurant itself opened in 2011 and quickly garnered another 2 Michelin stars within a year. Offering French haute cuisine with small portions, the restaurant prides itself on not having a printed menu.
The food was very good. Every dish was unique and was rich in flavor. The meal lasted 4 hours and was an incredible experience. Unfortunately, most the dishes I tried to photograph didn’t turn out nearly as beautiful as they were presented because of the low light within the restaurant.

Silvio Nickol, Silvio Nickol has run the restaurant at luxury hotel Palais Coburg since 2011. With 2 Michelin stars you should expect an imaginative cuisine featuring sophisticated combinations. I left satisfied but not convinced, with mixed feelings. The potential and the ambition to deliver outstanding fine food is very visible and tangible. The experience was enjoyable, but not memorable Tasting menu of 7 or 9 courses. The restaurant’s interiors has a huge glitzy wall of amethyst at the entrance. Unconventional and tasteful. Service was the weak part. We saw only one waiter serving. Obviously he could not coop although he was trying hard.

Food is clearly incredible. Tasted everything from deer to great fish - scallop was my favorite and stargeon nicely cooked- , all with great selection of herbs and sauces. Sweets at the end were well-thought. This restaurant for me is a 4-star rating because two things happened: 1- the menu was not reflective of the wine served. The wines served were great. The menu had written in it “1983 Château Margaux”, but instead a 1994 was served. It looks a small detail but the excitement was a bit diminished when the restaurant does not serve exactly what it showed. Details for a 2-michelin star restaurant should matter… 2- I let them know in advance that we were there to celebrate my sister birthday, but no small cake with a candle came from the kitchen. I know restaurants should operate differently, but this was the first Michelin one I had been to that was subpar on celebrating guests.

An exceptional gastronomic experience with top-notch service and customer experience! A brilliant tasting menu: powerful and exciting yet sophisticatedly balanced with premium ingredients. I'm not fond of wine pairing, but this was exceptionally done and greatly enhanced the effect of the culinary creations themselves! The highlight is the pigeon, so be sure to opt for the full tasting menu! The staff is highly educated yet unobtrusive, a big thumbs up for the service! Visiting the kitchen and having a conversation with the chef, who genuinely cares for each guest, completes this magnificent gastronomic performance! Thank you!

My family of four was fortunate enough to visit this wonderful restaurant while on holiday in Vienna. We celebrated Father’s Day here and wanted our entire family to dine together, including our 4- and 9-year-old boys. The restaurant reached out ahead of time and made special accommodations for our youngest, including creating a special dish that was a huge hit. From start to finish, the entire dining experience was a culinary journey, with many exotic foods and captivating combinations of ingredients, all artfully crafted. The service team was exceptional and welcoming to our family, even though we felt a few wayward stares from other diners with the children in tow. We quickly felt right at home and enjoyed an exceptional meal. We were delighted at the end of the dinner to meet the chef and the rest of the culinary team, making this evening incredibly memorable for our family. My 9-year-old also enjoyed many of the courses and was quite complimentary of the preparation and presentations. I highly recommend making this place a part of your journey.

Went there for a birthday celebration. The team took every effort to make the evening so special. The decor of the dining area is elegant and soothing. The wait staff and sommelier are professional. The wine list is just so phenomenal. I managed to find 2 of my favorite wines and they’re divine. The staff also added a personal touch with a small birthday pastry. Finally, the chef SN himself came out for a little chat. Simply can’t fault the entire gastronomic experience.
