Nature & Parks
Nestled in the heart of Johnson City, Tennessee, Buffalo Mountain Park is a stunning natural haven that beckons outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Spanning an impressive 725 acres, this park features a variety of hiking trails that meander through lush forests and alongside sparkling streams. As you explore the hilly terrain, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of both the Tennessee Valley and Unicoi Valley.
Just beautiful. There are roughly three trails you can do when you arrive. We hiked the Noggin trail. It is not a light feat at all. All the trails are true hikes at moments. They’re super steep and some are slippery and muddy. I don’t recommend this for a casual weekend stroll, however if you’re looking for a challenge it’s a nice medium one. The view was worth it. The hike through the trail was fantastic. Tons of twist and turns and stopping points. I highly recommend this for hikers.

On the outskirts of Johnson City, Buffalo Mountain Park is a hidden gem! The abundance of varying trails make it an excellent place to either run (as I prefer) or hike. My favorite loop crosses various terrain and clocks almost 5.25 miles and 1500’ of elevation. There are numerous ridge views as well as many lookouts that are fairly close to parking.
R M — Google review
5 stars first, and foremost; as there was no admission for me to be able to hit the trails. I loved that the trails were wild but clearly marked. Waterproof boots are a must; the Noggin goes up and across a quick stream. AllTrails marked all the routes nicely. Couldn’t get to White Rock from the Noggin due to a downed tree; pivoted to Huckleberry Knob, great view!

A beautiful slice of nature right next to Johnson City. While not the easiest trail, it is splendid for those who are experienced. Great place to see tons of little critters too.
Jacob J — Google review
Excellent trails, mostly single track with really nice elevation. Great views and solid workout on quite a number of trails covering several miles. I highly recommend!
Kevin L — Google review
Great place to hike. Trails and roads allow you a choice of terrain. Several places offer extended scenic views, and the trees and streams are wonderful. The beauty of God's creation is abundant here. Important things to note: ¹There are no bathrooms here. ²Parking is tight, and it is not always easy to turn around. ³Picnic area is bare bones and not up to date. ⁴There are no water fountains here. ⁵If there are trash cans here, I don't know where they are. So it's a great place to stop by and hike, but bring your water bottle full and you should be good.
Ryan N — Google review
A nice hike that was challenging enough but not too challenging. This hike was mostly well-marked until the very end when we ended up making a wrong turn and going in a circle. The views are nice and there are plenty of places to stop and enjoy the view or have lunch.
Ellery O — Google review
Loved it. Has picnic benches and a few pavilions. There is a checkpoint attendant for safety too. I am glad so see public land utilized in such a fantastic way. Saw several families out enjoying the great out doors. Plenty of hiking trails too.

Hiking Trails
If you're looking for a free and active way to spend time in Johnson City, the Tweetsie Trail is a great option. This trail, created as part of the Rails-to-Trails project, repurposed an old rail line into a scenic pathway. Despite its city accessibility, it offers a peaceful escape from urban life.
Hit this trail up the first time this week, and it didn't disappoint! I've only went a bit passed the 1 mile mark tho, so I am only rating it based of that first mile. (It was hot out when we walked, but the trail was 10° cooler!)
Amanda H — Google review
Awesome trail great people that walk on it. Sad thing though is it's so dirty down the hill around the 8 mile marker and so on
BR — Google review
I enjoyed riding the trail and I think they have done a wonderful job. I think they could turn the volume down on the police presence. Nobody wants to have a good time and relax when you're surrounded by police.
Josh ( — Google review
Nice, smooth trail for a great family ride. The Rotary Club pavilion looks great!
Lesley R — Google review
Great place to take the kids for fun!
Rita N — Google review
All the stop signs that face the tweetsie trail need to be removed and yield to pedestrain/cyclists flashing signs need to be placed at all road crossings. Someone is going to get hit and killed at one of those road crossings. Drivers don't slow down and runners, walkers, and cyclists don't stop. Johnson City and Elizabethton need to make the Tweetsie trail safer for the people who want to use it.

Biking Trails
Tannery Knobs Mountain Bike Park in Johnson City, Tennessee is a popular destination for mountain biking enthusiasts of all skill levels. The park spans 40 acres of wooded terrain and offers a variety of trails, from beginner-friendly paths to challenging uphill routes. Managed by experts, the park ensures the safety of its trails, making it an ideal place for families to enjoy outdoor activities together. Additionally, hikers are welcome on designated paths within the park.
Great access to the park. It’s just about right downtown so if you have other things to do you are not way off the beaten path. The park is nice and clean with a great view and a porta potty if you needed it. There a few benches. The pump track is great fun and maintained. The trails go from easy to difficult with some spots that will get your heart rate up. It’s not that big of a park but good enough and has a lot going for it. Access and food right around the corner and a McDonald’s near the entrance. Check it out it’s a great time.
D W — Google review
Mountain bike park, it's on the top of the hill and has a beautiful view on the town. There are a few mountains bike trails from easy to very technical. If you want to hike the trails you are more than welcome just be aware you have to yield to bike riders. If you are not in a mood for a hike and just want to enjoy the view I am super you will find a perfect bench for you. There are several branches where you can seat and relax. Even now when we are getting closer to the winter and leaves are gone the view is extraordinary. I did not see a sign that dogs are allowed at this park and did not see anyone with dogs. No restrooms also. Or picnic tables! But you will have a air pump and a few tools to quick fix your bike. It's kid friendly area and I seen a few people with kids.
Alex R — Google review
Awesome place! Well maintained trails, and cool little pump track for the kids. Trails are rated by color (green/blue/black) like ski slopes based on the difficulty level. Awesome views of the surrounding area from the summit. Several of the trails are also available for hikers and dogs on leashes.
Jay M — Google review
Very cool bike park. We were just traveling through but it was a great way to let off some steam. The pump track was fun the trails were nice, tools on-site, and for the non-bikers, there were great views to be enjoyed.
Kel O — Google review
Awesome mountain bike park with trails for every level! Brought my 14 year old son for his birthday and he said it was the best birthday present ever! The pump trail was especially cool! We drove three hours to visit this place and it didn’t disappoint!
D G — Google review
Fun! Great trails! Something for everyone - beginner cruising, fast flow, rollers and table tops, a skills area, and gnarly rocks! Having just gotten back from riding in Colorado and Utah, I was happy to find such good riding in Johnson City. After tearing it up by myself, I came back the next day w my seven year old and had some family oriented fun too. Bravo to Tannery Knobs and all involved in its creation.
William S — Google review
If you are into fast rolling MTB trails with plenty of burms etc. then you will probabaly like Tannery Knobs. Most of the trails aren't very long but do offer various levels of difficulty and several decents/hill climbs to get a great workout. There is a nice flowy green trail for lesser skilled riders and a pump track to practice on as well. They have a couple of portable bathrooms by the parking lot for convenience which were nice and clean when I've had to use them. Overall a great place for a quick ride.
Jason R — Google review
Drive to the top of the mountain to enjoy a top notch bike park. Didn’t bring a bike today as my body is still hurting from Berm Park in Canton, NC. I’m really excited about the pump park. I’ll be back!

Great park with many different types of activities. In March, the bluebells are amazing. Park in the disc golf parking lot for a easier walk to the bluebells.

This is a fantastic park. This is probably the premier Park in Johnson City Tennessee. It is very large with baseball and soccer field, lots of hiking trails paved and unpaved. Small playground for children. Nice clean bathrooms. Food service during games. And to top it all off you can walk through the back of the park at the bottom of the hilll cross the road and your literally at Boone lake!
Art G — Google review
We visit Wing Deer Park frequently. It has nearly everything for individuals and families to do. Hiking, walking, and disc golf are our favorites. It is a well maintained, dog friendly park that you can spend an hour, a day or anywhere in between doing whatever you enjoy.
Rick D — Google review
From Houston, Texas, here. The park has restrooms, and they were fairly clean, with stalls and doors. This park has plenty of parking. However, while we were there, the youths had their softball tournaments going on, and it was a bit of a tight squeeze for finding a spot. The park was also very clean and very well kept. The park also has doggie bag disposal stations with extra bags on poles ready for you if you didn't bring your own. I can't say enough, really. I will return.
Karl D — Google review
I love to go down the lakeside park and sit with my feet in the water and sit on the sand and the water is so warm. I love it. One of my favorite places to go. To watch the fish jump or sit down on the dock and watch the sunrise come up. Worth every moment.

I come here to drop off my recycling. I wish they had a spot for tin cans, but a great location regardless. They accept cardboard, paper, plastic containers, aluminum and glass. So grateful for a recycling spot!

Nestled across 45 scenic acres, the Tipton-Haynes State Historic Site is a treasure trove of 18th-century architecture and rich history. This captivating site offers visitors an insightful glimpse into Northeast Tennessee's past, showcasing the area's native culture alongside significant events from the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. As you wander through well-preserved structures linked to notable figures like Colonel John Tipton and Landon Carter Haynes, you'll uncover stories that shaped this region.
We brought our three-year-old grandson there, and he had a blast checking out the buildings and the cave! The historical aspects are lost on him, but my wife and I loved reading about the history. We were there a while back for the Maple Syrup Festival, and that was awesome and very educational as well! If you like history and seeing how people used to live, definitely go visit Tipton-Haynes!

Nice historic homestead in Johnson City. There are plenty of things to look at and explore. We opted for the self guides tour, which is 4.00 pp. This tour does not include entry into the buildings and house but was perfect for us as we didn't want to wait 45 mins before another tour took place. The guided tour is about 45 mins to an hour long, which we were also not into. There is a really neat cave that you can walk into. Also, a natural spring and springhouse.
Ashley S — Google review
This place was very interesting. Col. Jonathan Tipton is my husband's 6th Great Grandfather so it was cool to see where he lived. Emily was an awesome tour guide & we learned a lot about the history of the place & the Franklin Battle that happened at this site. We walked down to the cave but didn't go too far into it. We also drove through Cades Cove loop the next day & visited the Tipton cabin there. It was great to see too. We got to see a Mama Bear & her 2 cubs while we were stopped there.

Very beautiful place with a colorful history of families that had once lived there. The tour guide was very nice and informative to answer all if our questions. Also crawled through the cave and enjoyed the home itself. Very happy that it was bought and renovated due to history of last family just existing on 1st flr. We also bought a few items from gift shop plus candy. Thanks for the tour, we had a great time. 👍🥰🕰

Another of many Tennessee Historic Sites presented for our learning about how places, people and events are woven together and demonstrate the rich heritage of our state, as well as our citizen's contributions to the forming and preservation of the principles of liberty of our nation!

This is a really great place to visit! The Friday I went, they were setting up for the Highland Games on the property. It looked like a pretty big event. The visitors center is filled with all kinds of historical information about this area and Tennessee in its infancy. And the small gift shop has some great gifts, too! I went inside the cave bordering the rear of the property. That was an experience worth going by itself.

Barbecue restaurant
Restaurant
Located in Johnson City, TN, The Firehouse is a popular BBQ restaurant and catering service housed in a converted firehouse with a vintage firetruck on display. Originally opened as Bucwood Bar-B-Que in 1980, it was later relocated to the old firehall and rebranded as The Firehouse Restaurant in 1981. This cozy eatery serves hickory-smoked barbecue, homemade sides, desserts, and sweet tea.
Cozy, inviting environment; the decor was well-themed. Happy and helpful staff. The food came out quickly, but it is worth noting this was on a Tuesday evening. The food tasted very fresh and good, and the pricing was fair. It is worth the trip and definitely a unique dining experience.

We stopped by after a long hike and were not disappointed. This is our second time visiting and it will not be our last. The pimento cheese dip is DELICIOUS!! I recommend the smoked Mac n cheese, it is an excellent addition to your main course. 😋

The atmosphere is really amazing. It reminds me of an upscale steakhouse. But it's actually a barbecue restaurant. The place has great food and their baked beans are off the chart! Thank you for great food service and an awesome experience.

Great BBQ! The Beef Brisket Sandwich with Cole Slaw and Steak Fries was perfect. The food was hot, fresh, and delicious. Boom 💥 hit the spot! There was a large selection, and the service was excellent. They get really busy, so you know the food is excellent. There is ample parking.

The food is amazing. The best pulled pork and ribs I've ever had in my life are served. The atmosphere is fantastic and very welcoming. The staff will accommodate special requests! Thank you firehouse!

Food was great. 1st time there and we enjoyed it. The pimento cheese dip was a knockout . My wife ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs and I ordered the brisket. Your homemade bbq sauce is perfect. We are from NC here on vacation and will come back again. Our hostess Ashley was very helpful and was always checking on us. Great atmosphere

Steak house
Label Restaurant, located in Johnson City, is a popular dining spot known for its fantastic food and eclectic atmosphere. The restaurant offers an international menu with options like 40-day dry-aged prime ribeye, freshly made sushi, unique burgers, and hearty entrees such as surf and turf and buttermilk chicken. It's also a great place to enjoy a variety of alcoholic beverages including bourbon selections like E.H Taylor and Pappy Van Winkle flights.
I always look for a good restaurant when I'm working out of town. I was working in Johnson City for five and a half weeks recently and only missed eating here one evening. The servers, bartenders and chefs are top notch, very friendly and treated me like family! All the meals were absolutely delicious and all the sushi rolls are second to none!
Robert W — Google review
The wait was long, the food was good and the atmosphere was nice. The truffle fries had too much truffle oil on them, which made them unpleasant. The creamed corn was good and didn’t need so much chunky bacon bits on them. You’re posting a little extra for the expensive build out of the restaurant, but for a nice dinner out it’s worth it. My wife’s did not care for her chopped steak, but my buttermilk chicken was good.
Kenton T — Google review
I’ve been here twice now and the food was great overall. The June Carter Martini and fried pickles are exceptional! Wait staff is hit or miss, so make sure you ask them for anything you think you may want/need while they’re at the table because they don’t come by tables frequently. I will say that the truffle Mac and cheese is just okay, because you can’t taste the truffle in it. If you order a burger well done, it will be burnt, because that’s what happened to my friend. Save yourself some time and book a reservation ahead of time.
Joelle — Google review
The atmosphere is fun and the vide is pretty fancy but relaxed. Had the butcher’s cut which was a dry aged 14oz filet. Cooked to perfection. The brussel sprouts were a little sweet for my tastes. Our waiter Brian was top tier. Definitely ask for him if you venture here. Definitely recommend the drunken cheesecake for dessert, you will not be disappointed. The GM here Bailey is impressive as well.

I've been here a few times, and each time has been exceptional. Whether it be the hostess, server, drinks, or food. Most recently, I had a coffetina, first time. It was so good and did its purpose 😅
Steph H — Google review
From the moment you walk in you hear bustling and loud cheers from football fans. The atmosphere is loud but so oddly calm. We were sat immediately by a sweet staff member and not even a minutes later were greeted by our waiter. He is so sweet and was happy to make my husband's complicated tea mix (he's addicted to pench and raspberry tea). He was fast to bring us drinks and (this was our first ever visit) happily helped us decide a good app to get us started. We got the spinach dip and we also wanted to see how their sushi was so we ordered the stir fry. (Photo below) it was all presented beautifully we didn't even get a photo of the dip we dug in! The loud claps and cheers of the bar football fans and the soft chatter ans music around is very entertaining and just fun to listen. My husband and I enjoy our own silence when eating. Idk why always been quiet but we enjoyed the chatter around and even talked ourselves. The food is 40/10 and I'm rather picky... this is the first time experience and we will definitely be back! (NOTE: WEHAVENT EVEN GOTTEN OUR FOOD YET AND IM ALREADY GIVING A 5 STAR Because I know it'll be great!

I walked in knowing I didn't want anything fried. Their menu was eclectic, I went the tapas route. Started with a small creamy goat cheese salad, had to try the chorizo and cheese hand pies and included a burrata board. All was delicious and fun. Topped.it off with a.warm butter cake with cinnamon cream and a dollop of ice cream that was fabulous, even after eating main meal.
Matt R — Google review
Cafe Lola’s shrimp ravioli always hits the spot and the brown butter cake is a must for dessert. We used to always get the meatballs as an appetizer and they took them off the menu (disappointing because they were awesome) I wouldn’t recommend the new bread/pesto and oil dip on the appetizer list. The dip had a weird texture and almost looked like cat food. Our experience here is always pleasant/romantic and we use this spot on our expensive date night
Justin G — Google review
My mother and I eat at Lola’s a lot, and I mean… a lot. It is her favorite place to eat in town, and so we go with some frequency. I visit her from Asheville, and we either go to Lola’s for lunch or dinner, when we are in Johnson City. Here is my review based on a recent visit last week, plus dozens of visits over the years. Pros: 1. The menu remains somewhat consistent over the years. That could be a pro and con, because it’s wonderful that I can always have a quiche at lunch, but it may be fun to add a few new things to the menu. 2. The Waldorf chicken salad dressing is excellent. Plus, they give you a great deal of chicken, and it is often very tender. 3. The tomato soup, another staple on the menu, is really quite excellent as well. 4. The quiches are always fluffy. They have a quiche of a day, and it never disappoints. 5. The place is cute, and we usually do not have to wait for a table. Cons/areas of improvement 1. See above about menu. They’ve had the same consistent menu for years, so it would be nice to shuffle it around and add a few more vegan items, and a few more veggie items! 2. The service can be really spotty. I don’t recognize the servers from week to week. Usually when I am a regular somewhere, I see the same servers, but I see new faces here all of the time. Sometimes the servers are excellent; sometimes they are not as good. Sometimes the servers really know the menu, and sometimes they do not. Sometimes we are seated right away and brought drinks right away, and sometimes there is a big lag, with a server nowhere to be found. So consistency with service would be an area of improvement. 2. They have added a credit card service charge that I have just recently noticed. They said there was a sign on the door. If there is a credit card fee it needs to be in big print on the menu Because we would easily have paid cash and avoided the fee. The fee could have been present in the past, and we never noticed, but I think it needs to be written in large font (again, the crowd is older) on the menu.

This is an update to one I did a few years ago. We went back to Cafe Lola on Nov. 22, 2024. I still give it 4 stars. Here's some things from our last visit. I had the Tuna and really enjoyed it. My wife had Salmon Wellington. Salmon does not work in the Wellington pastry as well as beef because the flavor is not as strong. Would not recommend it. We arrived just after they opened at 5 PM. They seated us in a little table in a corner and we thought we would have a quiet place to dine. They seated the next group right next to us, even though there were no other tables occupied. They continued to seat everyone in the same area. Not sure whey they did this. There were plenty of tables open. Original Review: A nice little place with wonderful food. I had Tilapia and my wife had Sea Bass. Both were excellent. It is small and reservations are a good idea, even on a weeknight. The one negative is the food is a bit expensive.
Richard S — Google review
Lovely service for our entire time there! The ambiance is nice for the limited date night spot options in the area. We really enjoyed the salmon curry dish, but noted that the plating was a bit disproportionate and lacked some green veggie for color. We ended up ordering two of that dish because the tofu dish (pictured) was too salty and we had to send back. Nice wine selection and we loved our server!
Louisa G — Google review
The mocktails were very tasty and they looked very good. The shrimp cocktail was okay, the sauce was not amazing. The steak was also okay, it was missing some flavor. The aioli fries were a disappointment honestly. The ravioli was the best dish hands down. Their salads were also really good.
Farah A — Google review
I was blown AWAY by how good this restaurant is. I went with my band mates the day after a gig from out-of-town and we were all astounded at how good the food is. We were seated almost immediately. Soon after, we placed orders for mimosas which seemed to come immediately after. The waitress was VERY kind to address any dietary restrictions or concerns we had. I ordered the Herb Goat Cheese BLT. 🤤 This sandwich was an amazing option for those who cannot eat cow products like myself. It was perfectly cooked and toasted. I counted at least three different flavor profiles in tandem hitting my taste buds on the first bite. I chose to eat slower, so as to savor each bite. Furthermore, the herb roasted potatoes were PERFECTLY seasoned. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant for anyone who is traveling from out of town and looking for a brunch spot.

Such a wonderful experience! This place has been around for years, with good reason. The service was great, food was delicious...the mountcastle croissant with truffle fries was incredibly delicious and the desserts were amazing, especially the peach creme brulee with blueberry whipped cream and pistachio brittle. The bananas foster was a close second. I can't wait to go back!

GREAT fine dining experience in JC. Our waitress was Lauren and she was wonderful! Drinks were excellent as well. Portions were small compared to other restaurants in the area, but the flavor makes up for it. The dessert was actually my favorite! Give this place a try if you haven't already.

My partner and I have been here about 5 times now and we just can’t get enough. The daily artisan bread and butter to start with is phenomenal. I can’t wait to try the local cast iron cornbread. For dinner, I ordered the pan roasted chicken and my oh my, compliments to the chef for one of the juiciest and most flavorful chicken breast my pallet has ever experienced. My partner ordered the grass fed beef Filet Mignon with steak sauce. Very carefully thought out with exquisite flavors and cooked to perfection. I love that every menu item is locally sourced ingredients. That means you can trust the food you’re eating . Parmesan Gnocchi and fresh butternut squash puree are also phenomenal . I enjoyed the Old Fashioned the bartender crafted for me. Very unique and tasty. My partner gets the Sweet tea every single time!! 10/10 recommend we will keep visiting . Shout out to our waitress, Rachael. She is a sweetheart and very professional. Kept our drinks full the entire time without hovering. She took our leftovers to the back and prepared our take home for us. We truly enjoy Gourmet & Co. See you again soon!!

My maid of honor had chosen this spot as one of our dinners for my bachelorette. She has been here twice, and only had good things to say as well as good experiences. We were a group of 7 girls. The reservation was for 5:30pm. One of our girls is a mom, and was running late due to last minute changes in child care. After 10 minutes, we call her to make sure she is okay, and she tells us she will be there in 5 minutes. At 5:45-5:50pm, who we assume is the manager comes over to our table and asks if our last person is still coming. We say she is 5 minutes away, to which he says our reservation was at 5:00pm, and we have been waiting for our friend this whole time (the specials were not going to be told to us until everyone was there) and they were expecting other parties to come in at 6:00pm. Important to note, we had been ordering drinks and appetizers during this time. It is not as if we were sitting there with just waters. We were baffled by the rudeness of basically being rushed and made to feel unwelcome because ONE person was 20 minutes late. If the reservation has a time limit, this needs to be told to the guests. OR we shouldn’t have been sat until our whole party was there. He did not even ask to see the confirmation of the reservation, which clearly says 5:30pm, to assure that he was not mistaken, as someone with proper customer service skills would do. Our original reservation was 5:00pm, but it had been changed, which is proven by the messages attached. Our friend arrives 2 minutes after this interaction, and we enjoy the rest of our dinner to try and salvage my bachelorette dinner. After the dinner, we pay individually for our bills, and to our surprise, the tip is written on the merchant copy with a 20% tip. I get it, we are all 20 something year old girls eating at a fancy restaurant and they ASSUME we are not going to tip. Little do they know, almost all of us have worked or work in the food and beverage industry. I myself have 5 years in this field. I KNOW writing in the tip on the merchant copy is illegal. Because we were all in shock, we signed the merchant copy, which does make it look legal. Now, their policy could be that groups with 6 people or more, gratuity is automatic. But this should be notified to guests once again, and PRINTED on the check. NOT written in. Several of us were shocked because we were planning on tipping the waiter $20 (which was 25-30% tip according to our bill) in cash due to his manager being rude, not him. But we are not sure who wrote in the tip, so we left the 20% on the card. This is an EXTREMELY disappointing experience, especially this being a fine dining restaurant. I get ONE bachelorette party in my life, and this place has tarnished my memory of it. I am fully aware that some people have a bad day, and that may be why the manager was so incredibly distasteful and rude, but in this industry, you leave your attitude at the door. Food is great, but the environment is not.

Amazingly good food. The vegetarian platter was indescribably delicious. I can’t even figure out what herb and spice blend was used, all I know is I wanted more of it. The desserts were super delicious as well but incredibly small portions. I received a kids scoop of icecream and an Eighth of a serving of piece (at least that’s what it seemed like).

Hey you! Looking for a nice date spot? Somewhere to impress your out-of-of town friends? Eat here! Let’s start with the service—top-notch. The kind of attentive but not overbearing hospitality that makes you feel like royalty but without the pressure of having to wave at people. The cocktails? Bang on. The produce and cheese? So fresh. So, so fresh. The kind that could make you agree to things like starting a community garden or adopting a goat (honestly, who wouldn’t want a goat)?! My salad had crisp greens, and a house-made dressing that could make even an iceberg lettuce salad taste good (but don’t worry, they’re using real greens here). It all makes sense when you learn that the owners actually grow a lot of their own produce. Oh, and speaking of the owners—imagine our surprise when, after our fantastic farm-to-table lunch, we ran into them at the next stop on our garden tour. At first, I thought, Wow, what are the odds? And then I thought, Wait, are we following them? Are they following us? Have we entered some kind of magical, food-based parallel universe? Either way, they were just as lovely in person as their food was on the plate. Final verdict? If you love fresh, flavorful food, impeccable service, and the thrill of running into the people who just made your lunch, Gourmet and Co. is a must-visit. Just don’t be surprised if you start wondering whether you, too, should be growing your own vegetables (hint: you should).

All the food was really good. I felt really welcome here. Even after making a fool of myself (my fault) everyone was really caring. I will definitely be coming back here on special occasions as it is a special experience. I'm a simpleton and this place was great! Thank you Gourmet and Company! My wife was very happy too!

Nestled in the heart of Johnson City, TN, Red Meze is a charming family-owned eatery that brings the vibrant flavors of Greek and Turkish cuisine to life. This cozy restaurant boasts a welcoming atmosphere perfect for casual dining or larger family gatherings. Guests can indulge in an array of Mediterranean delights, including mouthwatering gyros, savory kebabs, and delectable pitas.
Yum for days. Great food is hard to find. Finding it wrapped in warm welcome by the owner and great service by the staff is much harder to find. Red Meze is a delicious stop for any traveler or local. We enjoyed our time there immensely from the Turkish coffee to the lovely variety of offerings on the menu. The pictures tell the story. Everything was excellent.

Very disappointed in my salad with chicken. Mostly iceberg lettuce spines very little lettuce greens. Ordered large but salad was small with only a few cherry tomatoes and kalamata olives. Not worth 13.50 The chicken however was tasty. They were out of bread so my wife got a falafel pita with onion rings. Total bill was 34.00 before tip. Very disappointed probably won't return.

I'll update this review the next time we go, but I will just say that our lunch this week was one of the most delightful dining surprises I've experienced in years. Diverse menu, delicious food, multi-meal-sized portions, beautifully served by professional and friendly staff. The hummus! The Meze Pizza! The gyro! I recommend them all, along with the baklava! I'm going back soon with a group of friends who enjoy great dining.

FANTASTIC dinner! It is difficult for me to find good vegetarian restaurants around here, and this had plenty of options. Our waitress with the red hair and nose piercing was so kind and attentive! So grateful we had her

What a fabulous find!! We were passing through Johnson City and saw great reviews for this restaurant so decided to give it a try. SO glad we did! The food was fresh, house made, and everything was DELICIOUS. Try the ezme appetizer; we loved it so much we took a order home as well. The chicken kabob was excellent , and the gyro was the best I’ve ever had-incredibly tender and with wonderful homemade tzatziki on the side. The walnut baklava was heavenly. Nice cozy atmosphere with lots of outdoor seating as well. All staff was attentive and friendly; the owner came to check on us. Our server was Katie, and she was the BEST! We will definitely be back!!

We have been going to red meze ever since they opened years ago. The food is consistently fresh and delicious! We always indulge in their gyros and hummus. The owners are the kindest people and always ensure you feel welcome. We’ve never had a bad experience here and eat there multiple times a month! Check it out, they will not disappoint!

I love good Food this is one of my Favorite to get my Mediterranean fix. Awesomeness actual, appetizers are beyond phenomenal. Gyro’s are mouthwatering, kebabs are a slice of bliss and do not forget Desert with a cup of Turkish Coffee… nothing in this establishment beats the food… its has inside seating and a outside patio not open air but covered and comfortable. Such a great gathering place!!!
