Indore

Indore is a city in west-central India. It’s known for the 7-story Rajwada Palace and the Lal Baag Palace, which date back to Indore’s 19th-century Holkar dynasty. The Holkar rulers are honored by a cluster of tombs and cenotaphs at Chhatri Baag. The night market Sarafa Bazar sells street food. East is the Indo-Gothic Gandhi Hall and clock tower. The Jain temple Kanch Mandir has a mirrored mosaic interior.

Specialty Museums
Step into the Central Museum in Indore and take a journey through time, exploring over 10,000 rare artifacts that span from prehistoric fossils to medieval sculptures. The museum showcases the rich cultural heritage of the region with diverse galleries and intriguing displays. After marveling at antique swords and stone-carved jharokhas from royal times, relax at the cafe before continuing your exploration.
Lived the history with a very fine narrator from Heritage M.P. Understood the Hindu iconography and witnessed some artillery that was used during some the Residency Kothi attack. Literal goosebumps when learnt about our rich heritage and warrior history. Without a proper guidance museum can seem like pile of rocks but a little throw on the past can turn those rocks into some eye opening history.

My visit to the museum was filled with excitement and bewilderment. I found the place to be quite intriguing and beautiful. There are a lot of sculptures at the entrance of the museum, the ticket price is a mere 20 rupees and you can witness the treasures of history in these artifacts. I enjoyed my time here, there are detailed descriptions about the paintings and the sculptures. Most of the sculptures are from mandsaur. There is a separate section for coins and for fire arms. The museum is clean but it isn't highly modernised, it needs an integration with the technology to make it more appealing to the general public. Some of the glasses are cracked, the sculptures in the out have not been well kept and one can notice spiders and other insects making a home in them. The garden was unkept and the plants were not taken care of.

Small. The Central Museum in Indore, also known as the Indore Museum, is a fascinating destination for history and art enthusiasts. Established in 1929, it houses a remarkable collection of artifacts ranging from the prehistoric to the modern era. The museum is particularly notable for its exquisite Parmar-era sculptures, ancient coins, weapons, and architectural remains. Highlights include a red-brick Vishnu temple model and a stunning sculpture of the Jain Tirthankara Adinath. The museum consists of two galleries: one displaying prehistoric tools and ornaments, and another dedicated to Hindu mythological carvings and medieval sculptures. Despite its impressive collection, some visitors feel the museum could benefit from better maintenance and more detailed descriptions of the exhibits. Entry is affordable at ₹20 for Indians, and it’s a quiet spot to explore Indore’s cultural heritage. The museum is closed on Mondays

Amazing collection. Lots of ancient sculptures are stored in open garden area which is heart wrenching for art lovers. Lacks maintenance that the Museum commands.

I recently visited the Central Museum in Indore, and it was an enriching experience! The museum is located in a serene part of the city and offers a deep dive into the history and culture of Madhya Pradesh. The exhibits range from ancient sculptures, artifacts, and coins to fascinating collections of regional art and historical items. The architecture of the building itself is a treat, showcasing a blend of traditional and colonial influences. The museum is well-maintained, and the staff is friendly and helpful. It's not too crowded, making it an ideal spot for history buffs and anyone interested in learning more about the rich cultural heritage of the region. I particularly enjoyed the sections dedicated to local tribal art and the archaeological finds from the area. One downside is that some of the displays could benefit from more detailed explanations or English translations. However, overall, it’s a great spot for a quick and educational visit. If you're in Indore, I definitely recommend stopping by the Central Museum—it’s a hidden gem that offers a lot more than meets the eye!

Lal Bagh Palace, a lavish 19th-century mansion of the Holkar dynasty, showcases a blend of baroque, rococo, and neoclassical architectural styles. This three-story palace has been transformed into a grand museum featuring Italian and Indian paintings, exquisite chandeliers, and furnishings reflecting early Georgian and late Persian designs. Spanning across 28 hectares of land, it stands as a testament to the opulence and culture of the Maratha kingdom.
Lalbagh Palace is the most beautiful palace in Indore and it is also the most beautiful palace in India. Here it is shown how the kings used to live. The park here is very beautiful. It is very nice and very environment friendly, so if you want to spend some time alone, then definitely come here and gain knowledge by coming here.

Lal Bagh Palace holds great historical significance and offers a glimpse into the royal past of Indore. The architecture and interiors reflect the grandeur of the Holkar dynasty, making it a must-visit for history enthusiasts. The palace is easily accessible, with good connectivity from different parts of the city. However, the overall maintenance is quite poor—many areas appear neglected, with dust, broken structures, and faded artwork. The management could be much better, as there is limited information available for visitors, and certain sections of the palace are closed off without clear explanations. Proper restoration and upkeep could make this a truly remarkable tourist attraction. A visit is worthwhile for its historical value, but don’t expect a well-maintained heritage site.

Lal bagh palace is maintained historic place to visit in Indore. Time required to see full palace in 25-30 min. Since it is old palace, it gives you heritage vibe while roaming into the palace. Palace & surroundings is very nicely maintained. Looking at the palace, you can relate how royal living was there while in kingdom time. Beautiful historical structure to visit in indore. Thanks 😊

I visited in Dec'24. It was being renovated so the upper floors were completely out of bound. Whatever was open on the ground floor was nice. The chairs in the dining hall need urgent repairs. I wonder why they were allowed to get into that messy state in the first place.

This place is an ode of architectural beauty. If in Indore do visit this place. The entry ticket is 40 Rs for Indians 400 rs for the non Indian tourist. Camera fee is 400 rs mobile camera use is free. The landscape is huge, there is a big garden not very well maintained but there are some beautiful old trees. In the palace, the doors, stained glass windows, and high quality Italian marble pillars and rooms are very well maintained. Though you can view the elegant rooms from the doors as they have barricades (trust me these were needed) The rooms are well preserved, it has Contes de La Fontaine : Les oies de Frère Philippeunder (original I think). The grills, are admirable workmanship. upper floor is under renovation though, the main hall, ball room, dinning room, conference room etc is beautifully done. Took me to the era I read in Jane Austen's novels lol. I can imagine the Elizabeth Bennet, Emma Woodhouse and Elinor Dashwood dancing in the ball room or sitting with their aunts or mother or friends in ladies dinning. Highly recommended.

Entry to compount 10rs and entry to palace 20rs. Only ground floor is accesable to visitors, well maintained. History of every room is written outside. Renovation process is undergoing in the 1st and 2nd floors. Can see the mix of indian and english architecture made during those time

The gardens are in dilapidated condition. As far as the palace is concerned, there is work under progress. Hence we couldn't visit the entire place. It was good to know that the palace has now been taken over by the govt but a lot of work needs to be done to make the palace visit interesting for the tourists.

The construction of Lalbagh Palace began in 1886 under Tukoji Rao Holkar II and was completed in 1926 by Tukoji Rao Holkar III. It is designed in European style, particularly influenced by Italian Renaissance architecture. Its lavish interiors feature imported furniture, Persian carpets, Italian marble, and grand chandeliers. It was used for official functions, meetings, and grand royal events. It showcased the opulence and westernized tastes of the Holkar rulers. The main entrance gate is a replica of the gates of Buckingham Palace in London. The palace was spread over 76 acres and included a rose garden and stables for horses and elephants. It had one of the finest ballrooms in India during its time. After Indian independence and the abolition of royal privileges, the palace fell into disuse. It was later taken over by the Archaeological Survey of India and the Madhya Pradesh government for preservation. Lalbagh Palace is now a museum showcasing artifacts of the Holkar dynasty. It is a major tourist attraction and a heritage site in Indore.

It's is just marvelous!❤️ No cameras allowed, or I think most of the people would just keep on clicking pictures only. It's just beautiful. The craftsmanship in all the detailing, the paintings, the pillars, the walls, the ceilings. Almost everything that you see inside the temple is made up of glass sculpting of some kind ! ❤️ Must visit if you are in Indore. Not visitation charges. Just mesmerizing place. Don't be an idiot and go on clicking pictures. We are fortunate enough that the people who are maintaining it are giving us permission to see it ! I have clicked it's pic from outside when I found it first via following the map, but no pictures from the inside.

This is a Jain Mandir located near to the Rajwada Palace. It took us some time to locate the temple and had to take locals help. Once inside, we got mesmerised by Its inner walls and its beautifully decorated colourful mirrors.Loved the quiet atmosphere of the temple and would have loved to sit peacefully in front of the God for some time. But due to lack of time we had to leave after a quick visit.

Although this place had fewer vegetarian Indian entrees compared to other restaurants but whatever we ordered was thoroughly enjoyed. Appetizers: Cantonese veg dumplings: flavorful Tikka-e-makhani veg: good Subz-awadhi korma veg: best, rich flavors And tandoori roti: very well prepared Dessert: blueberry cheesecake, one of the best I’ve had in Indore Our server, tall guy from uttarakhand, took good care of us. Hello foodies, we recently tried this barbeque restaurant at sayaji hotel..it was the last day of Arabian food festival and we thought to explore the same..being weekend it was packed , still being advanced table reservation it took time for us to get the table and service was dead slow. All thanks to Mr. Rafik the manager at the hotel, when we approached him with our concerns and such a delay in service...he personally served the majority of starters at our table. Also to make us feel happy a yummy cake was also served as complimentary from them as it's being my father's bday celebration dinner. Overall starters were good , specially prawn and chicken.in terms of Arabian starters the shawarma was great in taste. In the main course the mutton was amazing as was the mutton biryani too. Overall a great experience... Though service needs improvement I hope things can get better in the future. I had the most delicious food in Indore at Sayaji. I opted for a buffet-style dinner, and every dish was of fine quality. The dessert dressing was particularly impressive, making me very happy. Although the interior was okay compared to newer hotels in the city, I must say that no new place can match the food that Sayaji serves.

You can also enjoy their live food counters where they serve different varieties of chat and meat preparation. Veg and non veg buffet for main course and then dessert counter. Restaurant is mostly busy all days so if you are visiting them specially on weekends please pre book your table. Service cleanliness and hygiene is very well maintained by management.

Review of Sayaji Buffet As a regular customer, I was highly disappointed by my recent Sayaji buffet experience. The service was incredibly slow, with long waits for starters, bread, and even drinks. ( Didn't even get any breads) My request for a second helping of fish fingers and chicken took 20 minutes. While I understand Sunday's are busy, the service was unacceptable for a 5-star establishment.

Hello I have been to kababsville 4 times in total I visited the place on Sunday so there was a lot of crowd sitting there. the ambience is awesome.. poolside sitting and all with music live singing which was nice. now talking about the food... as all buffet has a culture that starters are served similarly we occupied our seats and waited until they started serving starters.. Starters included corn salt and pepper, panner agara, veg skewer, Schewan pineapple, mashroom tandori and methi mutter kabab, which were all good and enjoyed all then we moved to the main course and had a variety of salads which were good to but I didn't find the food tasty.. the panner was hard and wasn't fresh. the breads were all burned and extra cooked which disappointed me, I then ate pasta and noodles which were good specially pink pasta. In my all visits I have never been impressed with the main course, the taste does not meet up my expectation. overall I found the service a little slow and the waters werent responding time to time, they brought the chapati after i had finished my pasta which was kind of shock coz place like kababsville u cant expect such low service, even if the place is crowded that should not effect the service and i have been to other establishment from sayaji like cravings and cube and they both have great service and taste. My experience was only till starters, rest all was a little above average and i think it's main focus is on non veg that is why veg is average. Overall if you are a hardcore non veg lover than this is the place for you, and if you want to enjoy veg BBQ then try jardin or bbq nation or even kabelo

Indian Muslim restaurant
Nafees Restaurant in Indore is a popular Mughlai eatery known for its exemplary service and extensive menu featuring a wide selection of Indian cuisines. The restaurant offers a relaxing ambiance with comfortable seating and modern decor adorned with beautiful paintings. It is renowned for its variety of biryani dishes, including options like chicken tikka biryani, eggs biryani, fish biryani, and the beloved Biryani-E-Nafees.
Nafees restaurant is one of the best restaurants in pune for mughlai non veg cuisine. Their speciality is bhuna ghost, nalli nihari, mutton/ chicken biryani, kababs and in desert shahi tukda. The quality and quantity of food was really good and sufficient. The restaurant ambience is good, decent like a fine n dine restaurant. All over I found rates are reasonable. Mains & starter was damm good but i feel biryani can be a little bit improved and they could have +1 quality rice. They have multiple style & large seating options. Plenty of parking available on the road. definitely must try restaurants in indore to try non-vegetarian food. Thanks 🙏

I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. The quantity and quality of the food were far from satisfying, and the taste was even worse. What's worse, when I ordered biryani, they charged extra for onions! It's unacceptable. If you're looking for great hospitality, I recommend visiting Maharashtra, where food comes with unlimited onions at no extra cost.

I recently visited Nafis Restaurant, driven by fond memories from past visits. Unfortunately, this time around, the experience didn’t live up to those memories. While the food was still quite good, the staff’s service was disappointing. They seemed to intentionally delay everything, from taking orders to bringing dishes, which made the meal feel more like a waiting game than an enjoyable experience. It’s a shame, as this restaurant once held a special place for me, but the service needs serious improvement if they want customers to feel welcomed and valued again.

Amazing experience and excellent food A must visit place and their Shahi Tukda is next level experience.

Once it was one of my favourite restaurants for non-vegetarian food, but in after some recent visit, I strongly don’t recommend you to go this place. As quality of food has gone down, plus they don’t serve even a single slice of onion no matter you order even a 5000₹ food. All taste has gone, all dishes they serve gets too cold very quickly. So it’s a waste place to go and spend your money, especially when you are in Indore and you have several options to get the best food, with best service, here waiters are very unprofessional, they won’t listen to any of your concerns.

South Indian restaurant
Vegetarian restaurant
Banana Leaf is an eatery that showcases the cultural richness of South India through its dishes and service style. The establishment puts in considerable effort to create a homely atmosphere, from the ambiance to the friendly staff. It is highly recommended for those seeking top-notch South Indian cuisine, boasting a courteous team and prompt service. Notably famous for their delectable masala dosa, Banana Leaf takes guests on a delightful culinary journey with authentic flavors and fragrant spices like no other.
"Located on the 2nd floor of Malhar Mega Mall, Indore, this South Indian restaurant offers a variety of delicious vegetarian dishes. The ambiance is calming and reflects a true South Indian vibe, making it a nice retreat amidst the mall's hustle.i have been visiting this since 7 years and loved to go there with family and friends try all the dosa chatny and other dishes thali is really good with lots of options, the food overall is really tasty, especially the dakshin biryani, which is a standout. The place runs smoothly despite the mall’s crowd, and it's easy on the wallet. Highly recommend visiting if you're a fan of South Indian .

TL;dr: Your experience may depend on the day of the week you visit this place. Dosa and uttapam was okay, idli and wadai were alright, sheera was unique in itself. Banana leaf has been on my visit list from a very long time. It is located inside the Malhar Mega Mall, and has a very minimalistic ambiance in itself. You're greeted with a very Kannad vibe once you enter through the main door, and the tables and chairs are reminiscent of my time in Bengaluru. The service was a bit on the slower side, and honestly, was such an off-putting thing for me and my friend. Once the food arrived, hands down, this was the most underwhelming dosa I've had in Indore. Inspired by the dosas served in Bengaluru, fluffy from inside, crispy from outside, this was nothing like it LOL. Dosa came along with a side of sambhar (which was really low in quantity, and you had to request again and again for it, combined with the slow service, it kinda bugged me) and 2 chutneys. The idlis were disappointing honestly, we ordered Thatte idli, which was a bit undercooked, and left a sour taste in my mouth. Wadai were pretty small in serving size, uttapam was loaded with oil for some reason. Pineapple sheera was not the sweetest, and had little hints of pineapple in it. Overall, I wouldn't really recommend. My first experience wasn't the greatest, and left a lot to be desired. I'd like to visit again and change this review, if my experience changes anytime, anyday. Thanks for reading!

13 Oct 2024: dinner with parents. The food was average overall. Tried Masala dosa, uttapam and idli sambhar. The chutneys and sambhar was towards bland. That nice aroma and richness of flavors was lacking. Moreover, food was too spicy generally. The best thing was the rasam, it was too hot but flavorful. The staff seemed uninterested and tired. The place seems beautiful though, but everything else is ordinary. Typical prices, Rs 770 for 3 people. I do not recommend this place.

Located on 2nd floor of malhar mega mall indore. The overall theme of the restaurant is south i dian and it serves only veg south indian food. The ambiance was okayish. We had benne masala dosa , which consisted of potato filling and gunpowder which was really good. Pudi appam idli is a must try dish here. Murugan dosa is alsy really nice. Some items items in the menu can be improved.

Recently dined at this authentic South Indian restaurant and was blown away by the flavors! The service was warm. The special banana leaf thali was amazing, must try . Overall, a fantastic experience.

You've got to try the banana leaf for that true South Indian taste! We had the thali, and it was amazing. Yeah, it's a bit pricey, but the flavors totally justify it. Totally recommend checking it out!

I visited this place for the first time and the service and taste were really good. They serve proper South Indian dishes with affordable prices. During our visit we ordered two Ulimited Brunches which includes Butter milk, Plain Rice, Bisi Bhaath, 1Paneer sabzi and Mix veg, 3 types of Idlies, Pineapple Sheera in Desert, Masal Dosa, uttapam, Chapati, Appam, Parantha. These all dishes can enjoyed indefinitely with a price of 399/-. For me who haven't tried anything pure South authentic food, this place definitely served with a different taste. Also as the name suggests, they serve everything on a banana leaf that makes the meal actually very nutritious 🍀

Nestled in a serene setting, it provides a tranquil backdrop for diners to enjoy a culinary journey. Whether it's a romantic evening or a casual get-together with friends, 54 Praangan promises an unforgettable dining experience catering to diverse tastes and preferences.
12 Sep 2024: dinner with parents to celebrate pan birthday. It was a gorgeous night, the moon was out, the evening breeze was pleasant. For appetizers, got Amritsari Dhaba paneer tikka, delicious, my mom doesn’t like paneer but she liked this. For entre, aaloo methi and kofta paneer lababdar. Both items were delicious, it’s amazing how our everyday aaloo methi can be made so differently. For dessert, tried kesar pista firni, which was alright, and rasmalai which was really good. The servers were pleasant and courteous. The place is beautiful. ~Rs 3600 dinner for 3, totally worth it, I recommend this experience.

An open-air Indian cuisine restaurant of Marriott Indore. Seating is a mixture of gazebo seating, open regular table seating, and along with bar-side chairs and water moat on the side adds a star to the ambience. We believe they have live music on weekends (Not sure as visited on a weekday). Mosquitoes are a problem that just creates a lot of discomfort and I believe the same is already taken care of or the team knows it and is working on it. Cheese butter/kadai masala (do not remember the exact name) is one of the best Indian sabzi on the menu and is must try. All food was very very tasted and service is top notch as expected in Marriott.

The food was satisfactory although not upto the mark you'll expect from a Marriott restaurant. Overall It was just satisfactory imo The vibe or ambience you'll get is something which is actually worth it. Definitely better to go in night. If You directly compare it with Indore kitchen which is in the same restaurant, So for Food I'll suggest Indore kitchen (more options) while for vibe I'll suggest 54 praangan.

The service was terrible, and the food took an enormous amount of time to be served. I didn’t expect this level of service from such a reputed brand. Food is okay some of the items were missing salt.
