Grand Bend Beach in Ontario is a bustling urban beach with a boardwalk offering various eateries and shops. It's renowned for its extensive freshwater sand dune ecosystems and commitment to sustainable tourism. The area spans about 20 acres of sandy beach, attracting both locals and tourists across generations. Grand Bend has a rich history as one of the region's earliest beach towns, featuring shops, food vendors, and recreational activities.
A Relaxing and Picturesque Escape Grand Bend Beach is a hidden gem on Ontario’s shores, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty, lively atmosphere, and laid-back charm. The beach boasts soft golden sand, clean water, and stunning sunsets, making it an ideal spot for both relaxation and recreation. Whether you’re into swimming, sunbathing, or simply enjoying a stroll along the shoreline, Grand Bend delivers it all. The town itself has a welcoming vibe with plenty of nearby cafes, shops, and restaurants to explore. The beach can get busy in the summer months, but it never feels overcrowded due to its spaciousness. If you’re looking for a quieter experience, visiting early in the morning or during weekdays is a great option. The facilities are well-maintained, and there’s a convenient boardwalk along the beach, which is perfect for a leisurely walk or to take in the views. Overall, Grand Bend Beach offers a great mix of relaxation, and a welcoming environment, making it a top choice for anyone looking to enjoy a day by the lake.

I absolutely love Grand Bend Beach! I spent so many great days there this summer. The beach is always clean, and there are lifeguards. There are also police officers walking around, adding to the sense of security. The washrooms are close by and always clean. Just a short walk away, there’s a street full of awesome restaurants, cafes, bars, and shops. You can even rent jet skis and paddleboards, though they can be a bit pricey. But honestly, it’s worth it for the fun.

I haven't been to all the beaches, but out of the ones I have in Ontario, Grand Bend is in my top 3, the beach itself is good and the water is also good but what really makes the place interesting is all the extra things. They have many restaurants, bars, grills, and stores. Another thing that makes Grand Bend stand out is the buildings they have there. On some of the buildings at the beach, you can climb up and see an amazing view of the beach. Additionally, the beach will occasionally have concerts there that are free to attend. Grand Bend also features a kids' splash pad. Would highly recommend going to Grand Bend at least once.

The other reviews raving about this beach were spot on! It's expansive with wonderful sand stretching way down the water's edge. Parking for a 28 ft RV in a weekday in September was easy, with plenty of room to turn around safely. To park, a kiosk is available that accepts cash or credit card. It's $7 for an hour or $30 all day, from 8:00 am to 6 pm. Free from 6 pm to 11 pm when the lot closes. No overnight parking.

Such a beautiful town and beach. Clean beach, always very busy with a lot of great restaurants and shops, mini putt, and so on. If you're looking for a perfect day in the sun just go to Grand Bend! We walked up and down the main street enjoying the shops and people sharing the Grand Bend experience. The sand was soft and the water calm like a sheet of glass. It was a gorgeous sunset and we look forward to going back again soon before the end of summer. 😊

Absolutely stunning beach on Lake Huron. The sand is so fresh and well maintained. When entering the water it is rocky but it quickly turns to sand. Lots of restaurants near by. You can also find paid parking. Not sure how filled the parking gets as I stayed locally for the weekend.

August 2024 5* One of the nicest beach near GTA. The drive from Mississauga is around 2 hours. The beach is clean and water is very good. You can enjoy sun and sand. This is public beach but there is life guards available. You can enjoy swimming and other activities. There is kids playing area and sitting area for picnic. There is shower area and public washroom. Overall one of the best beach. Plenty of parking space along the Main Street and nearby. You will not face much parking issue. However it can be busy during summer time.
Jaspal S — Google review
Outstanding beach. So far, it's one of the best ones I’ve visited in Ontario. The pros: - family-friendly - set laws in place- smoking and alcohol are prohibited; this makes me so happy because, as someone who does not want to be affected by second-hand smoke, I want to breathe clean air. It’s nice to be able to do so without fearing that someone might light a cigarette, and it’s nice that consuming alcohol is not allowed for the safety of others - a lot of attractive men, and from what I saw, a lot of them do not have that entitled mentality like the guys in Toronto, which is nice to see Overall, it was amazing; I highly recommend it. It’s nice to come early as parking was a hassle, and the beach becomes crowded; spots can be hard to find. I wish there were volleyball nets on the beach, but it’s nice that they offer many water activities— which many beaches lack. This is the perfect beach to feel like you have gotten away and visited another island; it calls for it. It is excellent to go with family or friends. There's also a variety of bars, food and small shops— as I mentioned, it feels like you're on a Caribbean island. The nightlife is a vibe as well

Our first time here, the staff is awesome and the sushi is incredible. We spent many yrs eating fresh sushi from the sea and this place is one of the best places for Sushi in Grand Bend. I understand there is an oyster bar coming there in the spring…amazing. Thank you

Authentically AMAZING! Midori has always been one of our favourite spots, the sushi is amazing with vibes to match, but the new owners have taken it to another level of perfection! The food is exquisite!! And there is now an oyster bar in the basement! I could ramble on and on, but you just need to go! 100/10 highly recommend. Small sushi restaurant in Grand Bend. Came here for dinner on a Saturday night. Inside they have a few tables. I booked a reservation prior to coming and recommend that anyone else do the same. Fantastic meal and great service! Emily was a great server. Had the sweet potato tempura as an appetizer and it was absolutely delicious!!! Would highly recommend to try, along with the LA Roll. The mango is fresh and flavourful. Would recommend booking a reservation on the patio, the outdoor seating area is beautiful. Will be back for the sweet potato tempura, and to try their cocktails and other rolls!

My daughters and I had the best time on the boat! It was well organized and everything was explained. The one attendant even took extra time to allow my daughters to switch life jackets because theirs was uncomfortable. We got “dipped” at the end of our sail to make it that much more fun and couldn’t stop giggling the rest of the day! My 8 & 10 year olds were awe struck! We will DEFINITELY be doing this again! I highly recommend this business for fun on the sun! Bonus points for going fast at the end when asked!

Very good experience and had nice time. Prices are pretty reasonable. Staffs were polite and friendly. It would be better if they give little more information about what to expect when we fly higher and how to sit steady while flying. Duration of the fly also more. Booked tickets on the spot but the schedule was delayed by 1hr by the team. Overall experience was good 👍

Such an amazing experience. We were the first group of the morning at 11am and Shawn was our captain accompanied by another amazing attendant. First time parasailing for the fiancé and I and we enjoyed it, it was peaceful and relaxing and the team made take off and landing seamless Will definitely be doing this again. Worth every Penny and highly recommend to anybody! Wasn’t scary AT ALL

First off their communication is awesome as even before the booking, Michelle was super efficient in getting back to us in regards to our questions. On the actual activity day we had lee as our captain and mat as our crew, both of them enjoy what they do and it shows in their treatment of you when you are on their boat. It started as a regular Sunday but lee and mat converted this Sunday in a life long experience and a joyful memory which when ever we will re live, will bring happiness, joy and smile to us. Thank-you Capt Lee and Mat.

On our way through to blue mountain. Stopped for lunch in Grand bend. Usrf to come here as kids. The restaurant was quaint and warm. Wasn't very busy but it was a Thursday at 2. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The food came out quickly. Everyone in our party loved their food

A fantastic experience from start to finish. The moment we walked in, we were greeted with a friendly smile and seated right away. The staff were attentive without being overbearing, making sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. It’s always nice when service feels genuine, and that’s exactly what we experienced here. The breakfast menu had a great selection of options, making it hard to choose! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. You can tell they put effort into using high-quality ingredients. The portions were just right too—not so small that you’re left wanting more, but not so big that you feel stuffed either. It was the perfect way to start our day. The restaurant itself has a really cozy and inviting atmosphere. It’s one of those places where you can sit back, enjoy your meal, and feel completely relaxed. The decor is charming and fits the beach-town vibe of Grand Bend perfectly. Even though it was fairly busy when we visited, it didn’t feel chaotic or noisy, which was a nice bonus. What really stood out was the combination of great food, friendly service, and a welcoming environment. It’s clear that the Lake Hound cares about creating a good experience for their customers. Whether you’re a local or just visiting Grand Bend, this is a breakfast spot that’s well worth stopping by. Overall, we had such a good time here and would absolutely come back. If you’re looking for a place with delicious food and excellent service, the Lake Hound is a must-try. I’m already looking forward to my next visit! 5/5!

What a fantastic little restaurant right on highway 21. We came here after a night of camping at the pinery. since it's vegan friendly, we decided to give it a shot. Boy were we happy. I opted for the avocado toast and it was huge and so good. They make it like a guac and it is incredible and full of flavour. Great options for kids as well. The service was great. Dog friendly outdoor area with water for the doggies. This will be our go to Grand Bend restaurant for sure. 5/5.

I love the home fries, best I've ever had. Rilee (our waitress) is the most pleasant person, manages her tables well and is very attentive. Original review: Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. We all had something different and were very happy with the food. We also discovered our grandson likes marmalade!

First time trying. Was excited to get a takeout Thanksgiving Day turkey dinner. Normally the food there is great but there was not much taste, bland stuffing … everything mediocre. Portion size ok. Called there as there was butter but no buns, no pie or cran sauce. Assumed they had forgot an extra bag .The 2 meals was $61. Would have thought for $30 each you’d have at least got a piece of pie, cranberry sauce and a bun. Very dissapointed.

What a jewel we found!!! Awesome service, very efficient, family ambiance, delicious plates, many options to choose from. Burger and fish and chips are winners for kids. I wanted a quick bite to eat and got amazed with their butternut squash soup and flat Greek flat bread. An Espresso to go topped it off, for the ride back home. Kudos!!

This is not one of those pretentious places that has garbage food but good decor. This place is a hidden gem. The ambiance is amazing. The young staff are very professional in their service and most importantly the food actually tastes good. Oftentimes we come to restaurants that's spent so much on the decor that they forget about service and the quality of the food. This is a family owned place that really cares about the details.

Went for breakfast here for the first time. It was very busy but the hostess Leanne did an incredible job at managing the front end. Very kind and helpful. We only waited about 10 minutes for our table. Eddy was our server and he did great. The maple cinnamon latte was fabulous and the food was delicious. Leanne even remembered our names on the way out as we were leaving. We will be back.

Super cute restaurant located five minutes away from the main strip. The food was amazing! We ordered the penne pasta and pickerel both were great. This is such a great place to dine in the lovely town of Grand Bend. We went to have an early dinner during a long weekend.Their great menu is the reason we chose this place with plenty of shareable options, appetizers, wraps, pastas and sides.we were greeted by the host/server who was really nice and attentive. We ordered English style fish and chips accompanied by curry sauce as an extra side, and south western style grilled chicken wrap with coleslaw. The quantity of both the dishes were a lot for both of us to finish. Everything tasted so delicious, flavors balanced to perfection, ingredients were fresh and the house special curry sauce was out of this world . You have the option of replacing the default sides with other sides in the menu(prices may or may not apply). For the beverages we ordered the IPA and brown ale, which were good too. If not for the natural beauty of Grand bend, the Paddington pub is surely a reason to visit the town. Thank you for the great service.

Stopped in here on a whim today as we were just driving by. Usually I have these things pre planned but today I walked in with zero expectations. We were just leaving the beach & had a group of 11. So I wasn’t expecting to get in anywhere without a reservation. But the back patio was wide open & fit us all! The staff was all so amazing. I can’t say enough about our waitress either. She was dynamite! The food took about 40 min. Which was absolutely understandable. We were a big group on a random Monday so they were doing their best. All of our food was piping hot & the portions were great!! They had a lot of unique items to choose from as well. We started with the cheese dip. It was served with garlic naan and it was huge hit with everyone! I would recommend ordering extra naan with it tho. For the main I went with the fried haddock & basmati rice. It was so delicious! Highly recommend. My husband had the Buffalo wrap which was also amazing. They didn’t use franks hot sauce & so many places do! So it was a nice change. Our son went with the chicken finger meal & it was a ton of food! Pretty standard meal but the portion was great. Overall it was a wonderful experience & definitely recommend checking out this little gem if you’re in the area.

You'll be disappointed if you missed your opportunity to eat here. Talk to the kitchen, food is amazingly delicious. You don't need to spend the extra $2.50 for garlic fries as regular fries are amazing (but you should do that we can keep contributing to this restaurant.) Get the double fish. Even if you're full you'll eat both up. The parking lot is hidden in the back .

I've been visiting Growling Gator for over 20 years. Their location, their food, their staff has always been amazing. Over the years, I've always had a great time on their patio and enjoyed the amazing view of the beach. It feels like you’re in the Caribbean we literally forgot we were in Canada when we were there, we had to come back the second day too. Love their drinks so much and the vibes. Their fries are so salty and delicious, they hit so good after a few drinks.

The Growling Gator is an easy choice after spending the day basking in the sun at Grand Bend Beach. Their drinks are fabulous, the front of house staff are so friendly and helpful, the food typically hits the spot but it has been a little lackluster at times. Chicken fingers can be dry and the fries can be soggy. All and all it’s usually a hit. Will return!

We enjoy coming to this restaurant for its great location. However, during our recent visit, we were bothered by a strong smell of weed despite the 'no smoking allowed' sign. The meals are well-portioned, tasty, and reasonably priced. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the fries. We ordered a kids' size, which was advertised at a lower price, but were charged more. While the size and price were not a big issue, over half of the fries were over-fried and hard to eat. On a positive note, our server was attentive and offered to exchange a drink that was too sweet. Overall, the experience was mixed.

We stopped in here for a couple drinks by the beach. It has a cool look and atmosphere and lots of patio space. We had an excellent Jew of the beach close to sunset. We debated getting appetizers but it was just all deep fried. Perhaps it was the group we were next to but it was loud and obnoxious there. It does seem like a place that caters more to those wanting to go out and drink a lot. As for the drinks, 2 normal sized margaritas end up costing us 40$ with a tip. I don’t feel like that drink was worth that. If your young and want to go out and drink a lot in grand bend, this is your spot, but it’s going to cost you.

The Tipsy Pelican is a trendy restaurant located at the end of Main Street in Grand Bend. A cool spot on the Main Street into Grand Bend. We stopped by on a winter day - staff were friendly and place was busier than expected because off it being “off season”. Food was good - we shared gyro sliders, Brussel sprouts and shrimp. Portions were generous as we did not finish it all. My only comment is that there could be a better craft beer selection. There was only one to choose from.

The food, overall, was impressive—especially the crab cake, which stood out for its unique and delectable flavor profile. The blend of fresh crab meat and well-balanced seasoning made it a memorable bite. However, while the taste of the food was excellent, the service left much to be desired. The wait for our drinks alone was over 40 minutes, and the food followed at a similarly slow pace. Even when it came time to settle the bill, I found myself having to track down the server to request the card machine, which detracted from what could have been a flawless dining experience. One of the most redeeming features of the restaurant is its prime location, right on the beach, offering diners stunning views and direct access to the shoreline. The ambiance is serene, and the scenic surroundings add an undeniable charm to the place. With improvements in service speed and attentiveness, this restaurant has the potential to be an absolute gem. Its fantastic food, paired with its unbeatable location, makes it a spot worth revisiting—hopefully with more efficient service next time.

Definitely recommend this spot if you’re ever in Grand Bend! Ordered the crispy brussels sprouts which were very tasty, not something I would usually order but definitely would order again! I got the ravioli with beef tenderloin and mushrooms SO GOOD! The service was great, the vibe was super cute as well!

Really cute atmosphere - just ignore the flies. The crab cakes were out of this world good. Crispy/chewy on the outside, melt in your mouth on the inside. The Brussels sprouts were a little too sweet for me. The club sandwich didn't stand out for me. My daughter loved her burger and the truffle fries but those fries had FAR too much seasoning for my husband and I. You can overdo a good thing. We parked in the paid lot at the end of the road, not difficult during lunch. Oh - and the cocktail called "stop making sense" was yummy!

WOW! Where do I begin? Amazing food, service, and atmosphere. Absolutely recommend to anyone visiting the area. We split the beet salad, I had the butternut squash ravioli, and my boyfriend had the burger (not pictured). All phenomenal! I had the Sol brother drink that I also loved. One of those little unique places that you don’t forget about.

We were here on a quiet Monday afternoon in April, before the summer rush. There wasn't much open on the main drag, but we were very happy with the Topsy Pelican. Decor is eccentric and fun... music and film memorabilia cover the walls, yet there's plenty of windows and lots of light. There's plenty to choose on the menu, but we weren't very adventurous in our orders... a couple of burgers and a grilled cheese. Everything was great... my burger was as good as I've had for a while and came with tasty parmesan truffle fries. Prices were fair, and service was cheerful and prompt. I'm looking forward to returning!

We went there on our first night in Grand Bend, and then had to go there on our last night there. Fantastic food, service and atmosphere - at a good price for the location. As an audiophile, I loved reading the concert posters on the wall - brought back lots of memories of concerts from my past.
