This is a gorgeous site in a beautiful mountain town. Access is free and the views are incredible. I parked in the town's public parking and walked up. The walk is worth it also because the town is beautiful and authentic.

Magnificent location with sugar cube White House’s floating in the clouds. Excluded from bus tours leaves it quieter and easier to enjoy the picturesque beauty. Castle graveyard viewpoints in the clouds down to Mediterranean and Gibraltar . Raptors flying in clear sight.Museums restaurants in plentiful supply.

Great view and a sympathetic small town. Great for a day trip but prepare to walk hills up and down a lot. Not good for strollers or wheel chair.

What a treat. .It's a beautiful whitewashed town, built on an escarpment and an outcrop... it seems to hang there, defying gravity. The plethora of the cubist buildings, appear to connect block by block into a maze of multilevel, zigzagging angular streets, with a wonderful aspect across the nearby mountains and valleys. This town is well worth a days visit.

Short drive from Sabinillas or Casares Costa Golf y Country club. Park your car at the bottom (the very bottom) and walk up. Casares is clean, beautiful and incredibly rich with history. I liked the evening walk most as people come out and relax, the sun plays off the mountains. What's not to love? I love Spain.

We try to visit Casares when in southern Spain. It is well worth the drive from the coast and the town is lovely with glorious views as well as the magnificent Vultures and Eagles Lovely little restaurants and bars and friendly local people. Give yourself a treat away from me the beach.

The archetypal Spanish hillside defensive site town. A 'must' visit. Beautifully conserved but still lived in at the same time. Soaring vultures were seen over the cliffs at the top of town. Visit the local artist in his 'cave room' gallery; his paintings have a very certain style and messaging, which I appreciated. Have a beer at the top of town as a reward for the climb.

The Forge Restaurant is a stunning establishment located in the picturesque hills of Casares. Its location, nestled among trees, adds to its charm and appeal. Inside, the ambiance is warm and traditional with delightful decor and even a cozy fireplace. The menu offers delicious and hearty dishes that are bursting with flavor. The lamb Madras receives high praise as one of the best ever tasted. It is advisable to make reservations to avoid disappointment at this highly recommended restaurant.
English run restaurant, which has become a well-known and well-loved restaurant enjoyed by locals. The service is just how it should be, relaxed and attentive without going over the top. The wine was excellent and the Sunday lunch is some of the best roast dinners I've had out. The Yorkshire puddings was the only "fault" I could find (prefer much larger ones) but that was far outweighed by everything else.

Fabulously fantastic restaurant if you enjoy fresh fillets of fried fish. Decent variety of vegetable fritters and hot slabs of meat. Waiters were professional, courteous, friendly, funny, attentive, kind, intelligent and good. Try the creamy pilchards in a spicy sauce, too die for. The ambience, environment and atmosphere of the restaurant was delectable and great. We were 7 of us who were celebrating our friend, Harry Perkin's 44th birthday. He was so happy he started clapping most of the night and his brother Alan was singing out of pure joy. Mary Maplehead was happily getting tucked into the pork pastry served on a terrine of garlic and pumpkin paste. One of the waiters recommended the house red so we ordered 1 bottle plus some apple juice. There were 2 couples on the next table that were celebrating a birthday and they ordered wild boar, venison, mutton, goat cheese and tinned tuna. They were dancing like wild animals for most of the night. The head waiter was brilliant and very knowledgeable about the local wines, meats, apple cakes and fish. His hobbies included fishing and whistling so he told us. The creamy cocktails are worth a try as are the hot cheese slabs. We loved the side salads, they were stupendous and out of this world as were the roasted root vegetables. We are definitely coming back with the local orchestra that were are proud members of.

This was without a doubt a massive highlight of our holiday. Family ran place with a quirky, hill setting that plays soft jazz in the background. This place has a warm homely feel that is radiated from the 3 generations of the same family that work there. Ella is an amazing, funny, intelligent fantastic host and we would definitely recommend the food. We went twice in our trip and we will be back! Thanks again guys and thanks for babysitting Owl!

Restaurante Mi Cortijo is a favorite dining spot in Casares, offering a good menu with consistently delicious food. The friendly and well-paced service creates a relaxed atmosphere that welcomes both tourists and locals. The lovely terrace provides beautiful views, especially at night. Visitors highly recommend the restaurant for its super atmosphere, delicious food, and excellent service. With friendly staff and welcoming owners, the restaurant offers amazing local dishes with beautiful views over Casares from inside and outside.
An amazing find on the top of the beautiful Casares village. Great food, great atmosphere and great views. Meat was cooked to perfection! Would come again :) They also ask if they can take a picture of your party at the meal and you get a mini printed picture as a memory which was a lovely and unique touch.

As soon as I stepped into the restaurant I knew I was in for something special. After traveling and dining at multiple restaurants, this one stood out. The food was rich of flavor and authentic. Every plate felt like it was made with heart and tradition. What truly made this experience unforgettable was the hospitality. The staff treated me like a friend, taking the time to recommend the best dishes and assist to all my needs. I didn't just have an amazing meal, but also a memory that i will cherish.

Was a spur of the moment to go, saw the restaurant on our day trip to Ronda. Decided to try due to the location! Nice view. Well it was a full house but we got a table under the cover. It is quite windy up there. Be prepared!!! Waitress was very nice, very helpful. Actually all the staff was very nice that was involved with us. Very nice house wine. Get a bottle! We had a variety of food from oxtail to Iberico pork and desert. Also some appetizer grilled peppers. So if you want a nice drive and beautiful view. This place will not disappoint any. I’m sure I and others will go back.

Wonderful lunch overlooking Casares, beautiful views, farm to table menu using locally sourced foods to design a meal to please .. every bite was delicious. One of the owners warmly welcomed us and again came to periodically stop by for some friendly conversation. The service was top notch .. this was probably our best meal in Spain.

What a meal ! This restaurant have been recommended and we understand why. From the beginning until the end we had such a great time. The service was perfect, the food is excellent. A cuisine where the product is the star, not covered by too much sauce and flavour. A very high quality in the plates. The service was smooth and sharp, but in a relax atmosphere, one of the owner is in service and explain itself the project of this restaurant and introduced his brother in cuisine. Additional to all this perfection let’s speak about this stunning view ! I can continue telling way much more compliments about Sarmiento but I’d prefer let people have surprise.
Helene N — Google review
Was let down as it didn't meet expectations. We waited 30 mins just to get menus. By the time we got our first starter, it had already been over 1hr. Our total time at the restaurant was 2 hours, and we only ordered starters! Unfortunately the prawns were not deveined (the digestive tract was not removed), so we didn't have them. They didn't charge us for them. The bread and olive oil were great. However, they didn't mention anywhere that it was an extra charge when they gave it to you without asking. Wasn't sure about the pippets in the croquettes, didn't look very aesthetic, or add too much flavour. The view is beautiful though, I just didn't expect to spend my whole afternoon here. Felt a bit judged by the staff, they were not that attentive. Favourite dish was the tacos.

Our last meal in Spain 🇪🇸 was in this beautiful restaurant in Casares with the most spectacular view! @restaurantesarmiento owned by two brothers - Miguel and the Chef Juan Diego Hernandez Sarmiento. They were both there which shows their dedication and passion for their restaurant. They use and highlight local ingredients and their specialty is their steaks 🥩 We highly recommend this place. When you reserve you have to specify if you like the tables by the window which is the best and they also have a private room. It’s only 25 minutes away from Sotogrande!

Perfect place for an excellent meal with a beautiful view of Casares. We made a lunch reservation online for 4 on the terrace and had no issues. The atmosphere was perfect, the servers were friendly and professional, and the food was delicious. Highly recommend enjoying a steak. We walked to the castle ruins on the opposite hilltop after our meal. It took us about 12 minutes to reach the ruins at a slow pace. Recommend you wear comfortable shoes for the walk. The town roads were steep at points.

I have never been so appalled with the service at a restaurant. The waiter kept mumbling and shaking his head after we ordered, which we translated to ‘very bad’. Although we liked the croquettes, the piece of hair looked like it was added as a decoration. We stopped for a quick bite to eat before heading home and it unfortunately left us with a bad impression of Casares.

Restaurante Arroyo Hondo may not catch your eye from the outside, but it's a hidden gem once you step in. The spacious outdoor dining area and cozy indoor space with a log burner create a welcoming atmosphere. The menu offers Spanish-style dishes with a touch of UK influence, all served promptly and in generous portions. The value for money is exceptional, making it worth the drive into the Campo. With friendly English-speaking staff, this restaurant provides an excellent dining experience.
It really is difficult to capture how wonderful this meal was. Everything was perfect! The tuna was just sealed around its edges, leaving a delicious raw centre. The pork had an incredible oriental undertone, and then meat was perfectly cooked. The dessert was also such a lovely gesture from the restaurant. The atmosphere is honestly incomparable in being within the mountains of southern Spain. Would whole- heartedly recommend this restaurant!

Not much to look at from the outside, but very nice once through the door. Large outdoor covered eating ares and indoors with a log burner for the cooler winter nights.
