Outdoor Activities
Park
Kurumbapatty Zoological Park is an ideal destination for families and couples who want to spend half a day enjoying the outdoors. The park features outdoor exhibits of elephants, crocodiles, large birds, and other animals that children will surely love. Additionally, the park has a kid's area and an electric car to tour around. The entrance fee is affordable, and maintenance of the park is good. Visitors should bring ample water in metal bottles as no plastics are allowed inside the premises.
Went with a kid. White peacock, parrots, crocodile, bengal fox, ster tortoise, boa and deer are the main attractions. Some sliders are there which are too gradient for children. A can walk for two kilometers watching deers. Swing is there. Animal statues are good for children. Entrance ticket, for adults is 50 rupees. The best part is the kid's zone near, the entrance for which you have to pay 20 rupees where a parent attendant is allowed for free. Car parking is charged 50 rupees which has ample space. When we visited, we saw a lot of kinder garden students were brought from some nearby schools. A total spend time of 3 to 4 hours needed for zoo and kids zone. It's under control of forest department. It's holiday on Tuesday.

Honestly, I wouldn’t call this a zoo — it’s more like a large park with a few animals and birds and a children’s play area, making it a nice spot for a quick family outing. Entry fee: ₹50 for adults, ₹20 for kids, and 1 adult can carry a kid for free — quite budget-friendly! There’s also ample car parking, which is a plus. The animals include deer, foxes, tortoises, crocodiles, peacocks, and a variety of birds. It’s located close to Yercaud mountains, so you could even plan this as a stop on your way there. Ideal for families with kids, you can spend around 2-3 hours here — a peaceful, short, and refreshing visit!
Prasanna M — Google review
Great place to visit with family. Kids will enjoy the time playing along with some hello's from different animal friends. Peacocks here will definitely grab your attention. Best spot for having great photos. A small canteen and ice cream stores are available along with some local fruit vendors. If you are the one looking for some peace and calm from a daily routine, then it's a must visit place to enjoy some greens and fresh air
Madhuri Y — Google review
I visited this zoo while coming down to Salem from Yercaud. This quiet little place is nicely pecked away at the foot hills of Yercaud, surrounded by lush green forest. It appears to be recently renovated and very strict about not allowing plastics. I’m quite surprised to see that they also have safari in electric bricks with nominal fare of 50 per adult and 30 per child. They take you Around the zoo for 30-45 mins. The driver who came with us was very patient and waited enough time for sightseeing. There ample Parking space for car. I think they should start adding more sections other prominent animals like Elephant, Tiger, etc. Take care of your belongings from Monkeys
Junaid A — Google review
It's a good Zoological park for kids , It was about 40 Acres but only few animals are there like Crocodile(3nos), Few Kada Maan and Pulli Maan, cockatiel, love birds, only one python snake, some Monkeys , Peocock( regular and white) , Tortoise, some animal statues., But they are in planning and construction going on. Can visit for entertaining kids and zoo with local .. Researched that it was promoted from small scale to medium scale ZOO.., There was a kids play area , it was good
Vinoth C — Google review
I like this Place From my childhood days to Now. There are not many animals but they have several. If you want to spend alone, it's a good place.
THILOTHAMA — Google review
Nice place for kids to enjoy. Parking facility available. Entry fee 50 per person. Well maintained. Separate zone for kids to play. Foods are not allowed inside the zoological park.
Prakash M — Google review
This is not a zoo and just a park with some birds like parrot. Not worth the entry ticket too. Please avoid this. Below is the list of animals and birds. 2 fox, few deers and monkeys. Peacock, parrot, crocodile, flamingos. Waste of money and time. Have two parks located here and that was good to spend time with family if you come with kids.

This temple or set of temples are situated in a small hill. 1007 lingams are placed as a border of the hill.and 1008th is the main deity. There are separate temples for Perumal, Anjaneyar, Ramar and RajaRajeswari. Evening time it will be better to visit. You can also drive the vehicles to all the temples or of ok, can walk to all the temples. A bug rajagopuram was under construction before sivan temple. Arupadai Murugan status and many other statues are also placed. Not much crowded though. Can visit if you ate there. There is no historic reference or background to this temple. Constructed and run by private institutions.

1008 Lingam Temple is located in Ariyanoor, which is a suburb of Salem city on a hillock near Kunjmaala. The temple is managed by a separate dept. of Vinayaka Mission. The temple was constructed in 2010. The temple has 1007 lingams which surrounds the main shiv temple, which has the 1008th lingam with the holy cow Nandi’s statue in front. For visiting the temple, you have to go on Sangagiri to Salem highway, just after crossing the institutions of Vinayaka Mission. When you cross the gate of Temple, you can see an enormous statue of Ganesha at the foothills. The security guard is very helpful and guides you to the road you have to take for going on the top. You can take your vehicle to the top of the hillock, but if you walk you can enjoy the scenic surroundings and visit each lingam and offer your prayers. Every lingam is named after the thousand names of the Lord Shiva. While walking or driving your vehicle to the top, you can also catch a glimpse of the Sangagiri Mountains. These mountains and the surrounding greenery create an ethereal sense of peace and serenity in your mind and soul. In addition of the lingams, the beautiful sculptures of Lord Muruga are interspersed in the area and are maintained very well by the administrators of the temple. On the top of the hillock, you can see a magnificent and huge main statue of Sri Umaiyambigai Samedha Sri Arunachala Sundareswara. The height of lingam is said to be about 17 meters. The main statue is said to be the true jewel in the crown of the hillock. The temple management has provided all the facilities for the people. They have also allowed cameras and video cameras in the temple.

400+ years old temple located in main city. Renovated recently. Easy to reach from the old bus stand. The main god of this temple is amman. Initially built during Chera's ruling period. After so many struggles and judicial hearings the temple construction was started in the year of 2015 and after 8 years it got completed. The festival season for this temple is mid of August. The parking facilities can be arranged properly. Overall experience is good.

Tangerine - the world kitchen, located in Radisson Blu, Salem, is a highly recommended dining spot for travelers on NH47. The restaurant offers a peaceful ambiance and a wide variety of hot and delicious food options that cater to both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. Guests can enjoy an extensive buffet with options ranging from chats to desserts. The courteous staff ensures a pleasant dining experience, making it an ideal choice for families and friends looking to relax over mouthwatering dishes.
When you visit Tangerine, you know you are taken care of. Starting with the staff, they are kind, helpful, and courteous. Special mention to Salman, Pari, and Arjun, who made sure we felt welcome and took care of our needs (including the extensive demands of our 4 year old 😁) Now the food. We tried both the a la carte as well as buffet. I would like to especially mention the dal makhni, which was the best I’ve had. Every dish was fresh and flavorful. Highly recommend.

Was here a couple of days ago and for a super early breakfast. The experience was peaceful and the food scrumptious. Loved everything that I had, except for the chutney. Such a balanced meal and the options were a balance of East Meets India. The staff here are extremely polite, keep checking on you for any need you may have. What could be better - paper towels in the wash area.

Reaching - on the highway , but need to cut across the road. Be careful. Parking - plenty Food - we ordered alacarte. The lunch buffet was 1000/- + GST. Chicken biryani - light and hot. Chicken was tender and well done. If you like your biryani a little fatty then you may not like it as much. Prawn ghee roast - ( review by dad as I did not have ) the marinating is insufficient hence the prawns feel almost seperated from the gravy. Mutton fry - too much marinade the taste of mutton lost completely. Raitha - was perfect , almost homemade. Not watery , not too thick just was missing some chilli there. Curd rice - came too late so got it packed and was taken by a relative so can’t review. Service - afternoon seems a very busy time. The staff are coordinating the buffet and in more than one table I notice alacarte orders delayed. Guests walking up to the waiters and requesting to check on the orders. Also waiting time for food is about 20min ( so don’t come in hungry and expect order to come in fast)

The breakfast buffet was excellent. My daughter liked the veg omlette and veg clear soup very much. There were a wide variety of dishes. Dosas, Paniyaram from the live counter were yummy. Salman's service was good. Kambu koozh was a surprise dish found very rarely these days in restaurants. Elaneer payasam as the dessert was a good one. Good table service. Cucumber juice was very fresh but strawberry shake was the tastiest. Coffee served was not hot enough and was too strong for our liking.

Wonderful and open air ambience. Friendly staff and service. Beautiful interiors. Nice choices of starters and salad/desserts. Tasty grilled starters, salad and desserts. Main course was just Nawabi Biriyani and Naan/roti + dal makhani, which was average. They also have mocktails and drinks. A bit expensive since it's in Radisson, but I would prefer this over other grills like Barbeque Nation, Absolute Barbeque etc. Good place to spend a few nice hours with family. 10% discount with the Radisson members card, which I forgot to avail.. lol.

This hotel which is the Chennai highway has poor service. I did a take away. The guy who is taking was least bothered on my order. He was busy on something else. I waited for 10 mins and then he took the order as if he is giving free. It took nearly 30 mins to get my 4 idilis and 2 fish fry. I waited outside and at the time of delivery, the delivery boy noticed that they packed only 1 fish instead of 2. Then again went inside get it. After few minutes he checked again and gave the package. So, when you’re receiving the take away, check the boxes particularly for the number of fish if you are ordering more.

The food was really awesome and tasted really good. The service is good but would be more helpful if they could talk in little bit Kannada, English or Hindi, but I would not blame them as they are local guys and they have their own constraints. The taste of the fish, chicken and mutton is finger licking. We had Vanjaram Fish which was very fresh and nicely cooked by the cook. The biryanis which we took were 2 mutton and 2 chicken, chicken was good good and mutton should have been cooked for another 5 minutes more and it would have tasted even better

We stopped here while driving to Coimbatore and the stop was worth it. The restaurant itself is easy access from highway and they have a huge parking lot. They also have clean restrooms. The restaurant may look crowded but they are upgrading and lots of tables available inside. Surprised to see lots of helpful staff ready to take your order as seen as you sit down. The restaurant is known for its non veg food and siraga samba rice Biriyani , so you can go wrong with your order. Wr ordered mutton, chicken and egg Biriyani and also some lollipop chicken and mutton Sukka. The mutton sukka goat pieces felt a bit touch to eat than the Biriyani pieces. Since we were travelling the Biriyani itself felt heavy and sufficient. No need of any extra sides unless you have an appetite. The cost was around Rs. 240 for chicken Biriyani and Rs. 330 for mutton Biriyani. Definitely a place to have non veg food If you are travelling on the highway. They also have a soda and juice shop where you can order sodas to help with digestion. :)

Overrated mess. The high ratings on Google and YouTube don't align with my personal experience. We went on a short trip to Yercaud and decided to try Selvi mess after a lot of Google search. The branch we tried on the Aathur highway has a waiting area and ample parking space, which is the only plus. The food was very average. The waiter recommended us to try meals instead of Biryani. However, the meal was also average. The gravy and all lacked richness, failing to deliver the expected South Indian cuisine. The prices were ok for the average quality of the food. Those seeking authentic flavors will get disappointed. I even bought snacks from their mithai shop and the taste was not good. Badam Halwa is 10 days old with expiry date on the same day we visited.

I was looking for a relaxed place to eat and have a mocktail while returning to Coimbatore from Yercaud, and this spot had a really nice ambience. I tried a refreshing cherry based mocktail, which was quite good. The service was decent. Among the food, the lotus stem stood out as the best. I’ve been coming to this place for past 5 years but when I went there for the last time, the service was too bad. The reason for paying such a huge amount for this place is to experience the ambience and have good time with friends. But there’s this bartender who just rushes you out as if she’s giving drinks for free. Very disrespectful and didn’t expect this from a reputed place like this. This was not the first time. For the past 2 times she was showing lots of attitude and I don’t wanna mention her name. I kindly request the management to take care of it and give their customers best experience instead of treating them bad like this.

Beautiful place awesome location on the rooftop ( except the PINK & BLUE lights wrapped around at the far end are pathetic and disturbing, we decide to sit near it and settled and after a drink it started irritating, looks cheesy and sleazy the pink & blue lights) Ordered 3 large and 3 starters. Never got served in time (we waited for 1 hour from 8 p.m and after checking almost a hour later that the Order was taken by Mr. Mohan ( who was trying to upsell Don Julio tequila to my wife in her margarita which would cost Rs.1500 for the cocktail) and conveniently forgot. We ordered Mutton chukka, Kandhari Prawn and panniyaram we wanted to order a 3 starters but decided against the 3rd one. The Sou Chef did not know what Kandhari is. They served some thing from the Buffet and garnished because they realised after 1 hour that the order was not placed. The five star hotels manage things very well, but I was not. I was 3 large drinks down with snacks and boiled nuts ( highly recommended). My wife had to go go back to the room and ordered room service. It was a special day for me and I was prepared to not let this event screw up my day. So I stepped out of the Radisson and walked to SELVI MESS right outside and had a sumptuous food at a fraction cost and the food was out of this world. I had a great day. Thanks to SELVI MESS.

Sri Saravana Bhavan - High Class Veg is a part of a widespread chain known for its traditional Chettinad-style cuisine. Located conveniently close to the bus stand, it offers great quality food at affordable prices with quick and friendly service. The limited meals are reasonably priced and come with a variety of delicious dishes. Customers appreciate the cleanliness and good customer service, although some find it slightly expensive.
Delicious South Indian food! Masala Dosa: The masala dosa was flavorful and perfectly prepared—not overly oily, which made it even more enjoyable. Chutneys: All the chutneys were excellent, adding a variety of flavors to the meal. They were fresh and complemented the dishes beautifully. Masala Paal: This was a standout! Rich, aromatic, and absolutely delicious, it’s a must-try for anyone visiting. Service: The service was good, but be prepared for long wait times during peak hours as the place can get very crowded. Ambience: The ambience is decent—clean and functional but nothing fancy. Sri Saravana Bhavan delivers consistently tasty South Indian food, but plan your visit during off-peak hours to avoid the rush!

Had south meals, chapati and subji. Meal was decent. Serice was little bit slow. I will recommend to have meals as it was very tasty. Kids enjoyed in open area and small park.

Quantity and quality of food served here is pretty decent. The ‘Panankalkandu paal (milk)’ I had here was superb. The crispness of Rava dosa was perfect. The chutneys were good, but sambar needs improvement. Their service is really good and they have courteous staff. Excellent location.

Fresh Hot Soft Fluffy Spongy Idlis delivered in a hygienically packed condition. Price was a bit higher even after considering the delivery charges, so only 4 stars ⭐

Situated opposite side of the new bus stand. Was one of the regularly visited hotel many years when I was in Salem long ago. Visited during November 23. The hotel remains the same. Not much modifications. Quality and taste also remain the same. Cost is little high only. There is no car parking in the front.

A very good stop for good food, easily accessible from the highway. The prices are affordable and the quantity of food per serving is good. There is ample parking space and clean toilets. The service is quick but not hurried. There is AC and no-AC seating.

Food and service was good. But the ambience was dark, maybe due to the new flyover. Don't order parota kuruma it is typically the size of coin parota ( see pic ) and charging 70+taxes for that is not at all acceptable. Sambhar rice and Gobi 65 were good . RESTROOM IS EXTREMELY POOR 😐😐😐 Seriously they need to take care of it
