Chimney Rock State Park is a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers. The park boasts the iconic Chimney Rock, a 315-foot monolith offering stunning panoramic views of Lake Lure and the Hickory Nut Gorge. Visitors can reach the top by climbing 500 steps or taking the elevator for those who prefer an easier ascent. The surrounding area features Main Street with its array of shops, restaurants, and scenic views of the mountainsides.
Very well maintained state park. Very clean. All the staff we encountered we very friendly and helpful. We arrived early on a Monday morning and there were no crowds. We utilized the elevator and then climbed the 44 steps to the top. Someone who cannot climb steps can still enjoy the view upon departing the elevator. Lovely gift shop and refreshments are available for purchase. We hiked the Hickory Nut Trail to Hickory Nut Falls. The trail is rough in some spots and you need to continuously watch your step. Strongly recommend sturdy shoes and bringing water. The trail increases in elevation. There are places to stop and rest along the way. The hike back to the beginning of the trail is mostly downhill. Great place to enjoy nature. Gorgeous views!

It is really sad and sorry, that Great Chimney Rock closed by mother nature. My Facebook memories popped up for the Chimney Rock visit a year ago.
(Photos from a year ago, May 2024)
We were very lucky and blessed that we visited legendary Chimney Rock last year.
Praying for Chimney Rock.
Hopefully, some day, we can revisit again.

Had a fantastic time at Chimney Rock State Park with friends! Initially, we were a bit confused about car parking, but once we went inside the gate and followed the instructions, getting the ticket was straightforward. The park offers both an elevator and steps to reach the top, where you can enjoy breathtaking sceneries. There are also other trails leading to different spots, and we enjoyed all of them. It’s perfect for a full day visit. Visiting during the monsoon season can provide even more stunning views. Highly recommended!

Awesome hike. LOTS of stairs, 494 to be exact. View at the top is well worth it. View at the bottom of hickory nut falls is amazing as well. I highly recommend getting there early. Got there when the park opened and by the time we left about 2 hours later, the lot was almost completely full.

Gorgeous. Was looking for a great Mountain Views for my parents who were visiting with minimal hiking / stairs as they have limited mobility. This was perfect. We took the elevator up, and then a short trip up some stairs, they were able to do it no problem. Definitely recommend to anyone I know, the views are stunning. I want to go back soon.

A MUST go if in the area!! Get there at opening to beat the crowds. We got there at 9am on a Thursday and were the 3rd ones up. It was so peaceful to have the area to ourselves. By 930 the crowds came. The elevator through the cave was nice. The bathrooms are all painted like the rock and looked nice. Everytime was helpful & friendly. The hike to the falls is a must & so beautiful!!

This was a beautiful place with easy to follow directions and maps. Workers were all very friendly and knowledgeable. There are AMAZING views, and the gifts shops and cafe is great. There is elevator access to those who may struggle with stairs. A lot of railings to make the walks feel safe. The waterfall was very pretty and easy to get to. Seems to be a good place for families as well, I don’t have kids myself but heard of a lot of activities and programs for smaller ones. I would definitely recommend.
Lane H — Google review
The views were beautiful!! There is an elevator to the top but still a good bit of stairs. If you have plenty of energy and no disability you can take the stairs all the way to the top. There are gift shops and restrooms at the top and bottom, ample places to buy bottled water and sodas and there are water fountains to fill your own bottle. There is a small cafe at the top but it is pretty pricey for the type of food offered. There is also ice cream!
Elijah Mountain Gem Mine And Crystal Store is a beloved spot located just a short distance from downtown Hendersonville. Visitors of all ages can experience the thrill of gem mining, immersing themselves in the role of prospectors from the 1800s. The mine offers both outdoor and indoor water flumes where you can sift and pan for various gemstones such as rubies, sapphires, emeralds, and amethysts.
We brought our son here for his birthday and we had so much fun! It wasn’t super busy so it was pretty chill. We got the $65 bucket and we got a lot of nice gems and rocks! We will definitely be back when we come to visit. In the pics is all the gems we got plus the geode that was in our bucket!

We fell victim to happy accidents today! We ended up being about 3 hours too early for our appointment, so we searched on Google for some things to do in Hendersonville. The goat farm advertisement is what got us 😂 Massive store with beautiful gem collections at great prices, a wonderful gem mining set-up, so many chickens and goats, and LOTS of dinosaurs. This turned into a very wonderful side quest on our adventure from SC!
Cailey F — Google review
Reese was the most awesome adventure host! We bought The Big Honker and it was well worth it! We have so many gems and memories! We will be back next year for sure!

Took a 40 min drive from our house in TR today. The goats did not disappoint they are so loving and gentle. The chickens were just roaming around minding their own business. The staff there is exceptional. Friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed our day there so my h and it will definitely be a regular Sunday ride. It was so fun!!
Richey S — Google review
We had promised our oldest that we were going to take her to a gem mine, since little sis had been a month earlier with their class to another mine. We really didn't feel like driving over an hour to go to our normal spot. My wife searched and found this place. We didn't know what to expect but went for it. We get there and my girls loved it. They loved everything. The mining was great. They have awesome gems. We got the $40 bucket and walked away with some incredible finds. The obstacle course was fun and the goats were cool. My girls loved every minute we were there. I HIGHLY recommend this place and we will be back soon.

I walk on the trail often behind this establishment and stopped in one day for food and drink and to check out
trail it’s pretty much a disgrace, there are fences in the back that have fallen with just an absolute mess behind them and that poor peacock stuck in that cage would bother anybody if you take a deeper look.
Jane F — Google review
We absolutely loved this place. We took my mom for Mothers Day. Super nice and helpful staff. We found lots of really nice gems, had a beer, shopped, fed the goats, relaxed by the river, great place for a picnic.

#4 family friendly thing to do in the world!
$16 was fun for my daughter and she loved her gems and the experience of rinsing them off. And the balance playground was a super hit with kids! Best for kids four and up.
Lots of gifts to buy and a favorite would be the magnetic balls.
The North Carolina Arboretum is a public garden located in the Blue Ridge Mountains near the Western North Carolina town of Asheville. The arboretum contains more than 60 acres of carefully cultivated gardens, including one of the most extensive bonsai collections in the United States. The gardens also showcase a variety of flora, including one of the most extensive ericaceous (acid soil-loving) plant collections in the United States.
I’ve been taking my dog kid to the Arboretum for walks for almost a year now. I’m a member, and it is ABSOLUTELY worth the membership fee.
You get to see incredibly beautiful flora and fauna, fun displays and art, and there are tons of trails to hike on (varying levels of difficulty, I would say, mostly related to distance). Plus they even have plant sales from time to time! It’s the best!!!!
Some of the Arboretum grounds are still closed after Hurricane Helene, but you can still see and do so much there even right now.

Sliding Rock is a natural water slide located in the Pisgah National Forest, offering a unique and refreshing experience for visitors. The 60-ft.-long rock creates a low waterfall that leads into an eight-foot-deep pool, providing a fun and cool escape from the summer heat. While it can get crowded, there are plenty of spots to relax on the rocks and watch others enjoy the slide. The area offers ample parking and attentive staff, including on-site guards for safety.
Awesome experience for the whole family!
Warning: the water is cold!
Be ready to wait in a long line. I think the line is well worth the wait.
This is a great place! The kids can play in the creek a little ways from the sliding rock and you can explore a little ways down stream.
The sliding was a lot of fun, but don’t be surprised if you hit a knee on a rock when you’re getting out.
Definitely worth a visit!
It’s great they have life guards here!
We had to park a little ways away and walk in as the parking lot was full.
Definitely recommend getting here early!

Off season visit, had the rock to myself. Two slides into the hypothermia waters for this florida boy was enough!! It was awesome to check out, very cold, but I was also surprised at how quick I recovered from the water temp. It was over cast 69° outside

We enjoyed this place. With a group of 7 people of all ages, there was something for everyone. Nice trails, restrooms, places to change, lifeguards, places to observe, places to sit, plenty of parking. Potential chaos is well organized but not too structured. Just jumping along rocks in the cold river is fun for many. It is dog friendly too.

Had a great time but watch where you go down! First trip was good, second about broke my bottom.
My kids (4, 9 & 14) had a blast.
My husband grew up going here and wanted to take the kids. Glad we went.
J B — Google review
This is a pretty cool place. Just the idea that the waterfall is also a slide is pretty sweet. The lines are very long and you have to pay $5 per person to get in. Parking is not very easy and if you park on the side of the highway it can be a bit dangerous so be mindful.
If you enter along the lower part, it is much better and there is nobody really there. If you want to find a place to hang out, just know that it can be very busy on the weekends and there's not really anywhere to just chill and relax unless you go lower closer to brevard.
Ryan C — Google review
Well worth the stop and $5 a person, fun for all ages. Wear your bathing suits and be prepared to have fun and yes the water is freezing. We went during the week and at 11:00am and it wasn’t too busy.
Mindy B — Google review
Loved the slide but warning the water is super cold! We got there around 11:30am and it started to get very busy so I recommend going earlier to beat the crowds. Bring a life jacket for the little ones and swim shoes for all
Alissa C — Google review
This is a great place to bring the kids and have some fun in nature! The water is cold but it’s what makes it so great! They do have lifeguards during the day. It’s 5$ a person to go into the parking lot. Usually on busy days they have law enforcement there as well. No picnicking I guess bears.

Impressive event and grounds. Second time there for Christmas tour. Really came to see the Chihuly experience. Staff is extremely helpful and professional. There is strict adherence to your times on passes for the estate. $400 per couple to take in both events is a little pricey. Especially, when it is
over in about little over two hours.

The place is magical! From the staff to the fine details of their decorations. They are very intentional with how everything is run here, and I will definitely be coming back each season to experience the entirety of the property.

Loved staying at the Biltmore Inn. We had one of the newly renovated rooms with a fantastic view. The room was very clean and comfortable. We had the package which included the buffet breakfast and private morning tour of the house before they opened. The private tour is a must. We had a group of 5 plus the guide. It was quiet and you could really ask questions and go at a pleasurably pace. We also had a pass for the length of stay and we went back to the house after lunch and it seemed like there were several thousand people in the house. It was noisy and hard to maneuver through the rooms. The grounds of the estate were the most impressive to us. I highly recommend staying at the Inn where
It’s easy to experience the entire estate.

My husband and I decided on a whim, to pack a bag and head to The Biltmore House. Neither of us had been, and we were bored. We stayed at The Biltmore Inn. From the moment we arrived... to the moment we left, everything was amazing. We will absolutely be back when we can stay longer than a night. I absolutely love the view from the deluxe terrace rooms. So beautiful and dreamy. And dinner at the on-site restaurant downstairs was superb.
Attraction offering guided zipline tours through the forested terrain of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Zeek and Liv were the best tour guides for us first time zip liners! We appreciated how knowledgeable they were about the mountains and trees we were flying through and had a fun time with the jokes Zeek had all throughout the corse.
Liv was especially a savior when one of us got a bit stuck on the line as well. We will definitely be back again to try the other corses!

I visited Navitat zip lines this past weekend with a friend for the 1st time and did the Mountain Top adventure. It was amazing! The views were spectacular and we traveled three zip lines that gave you a sure flying feel! Safety is an absolute for this group. They worked diligently and also were very prompt to give individualized attention. They called everyone by name which was super impressive. Our guides, BLU and XENA were the best! They were so knowledgeable and had so much passion for their work.
Definitely recommend reservations. I can’t wait to go back!

From beginning to end our experience with the Navitat team was SPECTACULAR! Lyla got us checked in and informed so fast and was so helpful with all of our questions. Cooper made getting us up the mountain look so easy & we got there quickly and safely. Then, the energy from Parker and Greg 1st thing in the morning really set the tone for an AMAZING time. They were encouraging, informative, personable & made sure we were both safe and having fun! I would definitely 10/10 recommend Navitat to ANYONE who loves nature and is looking for an adrenaline rush!

I have zipped at more than 30 zip lines all over the country. Navitat joins the top of the best of list. Their zip lines are looooong, built extremely well and safe. Our guides, Gabby and Parker, were great! Professional, friendly, gave clear instructions, very focused on safety, and explained the flora in the area while hiking from zip to zip. Loved the story of the Marker Tree. 5 stars!

USA Raft Adventure Resort offers a thrilling experience on the Nolichucky Gorge with expert guides like Walker and Loren. The Lower Nolichucky trip provides a different but fun adventure, with a beautiful primitive campground at Red Banks take out. The friendly and helpful staff, including Dale and Riff, make for an enjoyable stay in accommodations like the Love Shack. While Take Out and One Love were closed during this visit, guests can bring their own supplies for next time.
We had a company retreat in Asheville and decided to make the drive out after hearing amazing things about USA Raft & the Nolichucky Gorge trip. All well-founded! Our team was split into 5 rafts, each staffed by knowledgeable and fun guides. It was a rainy day, but everyone still had a blast. Definitely recommend!

Absolutely horrible customer service! My group was eligible for a 15% discount for lodging. At the time of my booking, months in advance of the trip, I was not aware of this but became aware a few weeks before the trip. I called and emailed repeatedly trying to get someone to issue a credit and was told that only the office manager, Tiffany could handle this. Tiffany never replied despite direct emails and messages from her employees. Two days before the trip, we were told a credit would be issued and finally thought the issue was resolved. It's now 4 weeks since the trip and no credit was ever issued. I have called 3 times since and finally spoke to Tiffany who was not even remotely understanding about her lack of professionalism and failure to address this the numerous times I had reached out. I was finally issued a store credit good for a year, but no actual refund because that is their "policy." Their "policy" also appears to be to avoid all communication when it isn't to their advantage. Very unprofessional! I feel ripped off. Buyer beware!

Such a great trip!
I booked a half day rafting the Nolichucky with 7 others. None of us had much prior white water rafting experience, but honestly that made it better. Huge shout out to our guide Sprocket: he was witty, super knowledgeable, and whipped us in to ship shape fast. The whole experience lasted almost 4 hours ans was tons of fun. At the end, the group got to "surf" which involved directing the raft upstream and hang in the little water fall. Beautiful scenery in the smoky mountains and we even saw a bald eagle. Overall I highly recommend this trip

My family had a great rafting trip with Lela and David as our guides. They were very safety-conscious but also lots of fun! Planned this trip a month ago, long overdue vacation with my wife. We scheduled a 1/2 day rafting trip, for 1:30pm. We both work late nights into early morning so getting up for the 8:30trip would have been a rough indevour. However the wonderful staff worked some magic and got us a group for 10:30am.
Our guide Lauren was amazing, personable, knowledgeable and made our trip memorable and safe.
At night our "Appalachian concierge" Cory was quick to get us what we needed, helpful, friendly and an all around great guy!
We had a couple great evenings at the Take Out Tavern. The food was amazing, the beers ice cold, service was absolutely spot on weather it was to warm our bellies after the wonderful white water or after a few beers.
We stayed in one of the domes, the pictures didn't even do it justice to how luxurious it would be. The bathhouse facility and sauna were clean and maintained daily.
We had a wonderful surprise of live music by the Dirty Dead.
The grounds had this amazing vibe and ambiance, it felt like I came home, it was home, and everyone there was my family.
A completely magical vacation, we can not wait to go again. Already looking at the calendars!
Thank you to everyone, even if I didn't get your name you were intrical to making it the best vacation, what our souls really needed.

I gotta write an updated review. We’ve had a couple (big) bummers trying to camp here in the last year (really do not recommend the overnight car camping spots; twice our reservation was unavailable upon arrival and the staff seems pretty disinterested in addressing this issue), BUT I had an absolutely lovely experience at the take out bar, and enjoyed just chilling on the property while listening to the band by the river.
The river access here is prime. We don’t like the camping experience and still resent that (it used to be one of our favorite spots), but as a day/evening hang out, we like the experience and will probably return.
Also, NOLI is a very cool organization that meets at USA Raft for several of their events. We participated in the Blue Ghost Firefly hike this past Friday and really enjoyed it! Highly recommend checking out NOLI and participating in their activities!
The Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is a popular 5.5-mile scenic drive through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, conveniently starting and ending in Downtown Gatlinburg. Along this one-way mountain route, visitors can explore preserved farms, historic cabins like the Bud Noah Ogle homestead, and picturesque waterfalls such as Rainbow Falls and Grotto Falls. The trail offers opportunities for on-foot exploration with stops along the road, including hikes to both waterfalls.
Free drive up the mountain on a motor trail with plenty of sights to stop and see along the way. We'll worth an afternoon trip!

This was breathtaking! The drive is beautiful with rock outcroppings, waterfalls, rapids, and pull offs to enjoy all the above. We rented a jeep for the day, and there is no other way I would have wanted to experience this adventure. We stopped at several different waterfalls and places where the river was rushing and creating some amazing rapids. Towards the end is a wonderful little mill with a gift shop full of beautiful pottery and souvenirs that you won't find on the Parkway! This drive is a must if you are in the area. It also offers trailhead for hiking!

Probably one of the best motor trails in the country, with multiple trails and parking spots. JUST PLEASE: (please just don’t idle or stop for long minutes to wildlife - people behind you are visiting for the same reason). I am writing this because I have been here at least 50 times over the last couple of years and unfortunately people from states up north tend to stop for long times until nature life vanishes creating long lines because of their lack of respect for the national park rules and others.
R B — Google review
We were disappointed that the long drive around was shut down so we were unable to see all the beautiful things that the motor trail has to offer

Love this nature drive! You can stop as much as you want around this one way narrow road. Multiple sites of historic homes and outbuildings. Several hiking trails go to waterfalls.

Winding, paved, single lane road trail.
We did not see any wildlife beyond a couple wild turkeys, but we could see some mountain views, streams, and small waterfalls

You'll see it all on this drive, waterfalls, historic buildings, beautiful peaks, and the relaxing creek. It's a lot shorter then Cades Cove, so if you are pressed for time this is the one to do!
Cades Cove is a picturesque valley located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, offering a scenic loop route that allows visitors to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the area. This serene location is home to abundant wildlife and well-preserved homesteads, providing a glimpse into the region's history.
Words cannot describe the beauty and peaceful feeling of being here. Excitement and happiness. Watching my children, grandchildren grow up through the years of pictures is so special.

We actually saw a mama bear, not far away. Her cubs were high up in the trees. She was in the woods near the baptist church along the route. Truly amazing. It is a really beautiful driving tour with many places to pull off.

I'll never travel to Indianapolis without this trip planner again
Nestled in Knoxville, Tennessee, Zoo Knoxville spans 53 acres and is home to approximately 800 animals from various parts of the world. Visitors can marvel at elephants, lions, giraffes, chimpanzees, tigers, gorillas, and bears among other creatures. The zoo offers an enriching experience with educational talks by zookeepers and engaging activities for kids such as mini-train rides and carousel adventures.
We recently got season passes for Zoo Knoxville. We've already been twice and there are both good and bad points to consider.
Overall, we love it. The grounds are nicely kept and although you need to be prepared to navigate hilly terrain, it's really a lovely, meandering walk.
We do feel like some of the habitats could be better. The bat eared foxes' den is really pretty small. We also wished the primates had more enrichment activities. Both times we went the chimps and gorillas were sitting in their inside enclosures and exhibiting boredom and stress behaviors. There did not seem to be enough variety to interest them and it broke our hearts.
However, we are aware there are limitations and external influences that might have contributed to their behavior those 2 days.
I do miss the elephants but I am actually happy they have been moved to a sanctuary. At the end of the day, it's about what is best for the animals and that was 100% the right call.
Otherwise, I have to say Max's Aviary was a massive disappointment. I remembered the large walk-through aviary we used to have and this is literally a smaller-than-anticipated birdcage with 4 macaws. The video made it seem majestic and breathtaking but the opposite was true. I can understand if that's the best they could manage but they shouldn't have advertised it so aggressively in my opinion.
We will definitely be going back and we will enjoy ourselves. I just wish we could provide even better accommodations for our animal residents.

We planned our trip for the first week of April, probably not the best time to visit. Lots of animals missing and several construction projects ongoing. In my opinion, the zoo could use some upgrades, so the construction is understandable. Altgough more transparency would be nice. It would have been respectable for the website to explain what to expect during this time. This zoo is also lacking many of the bigger animals that you are expecting to see. I am from Indianapolis and the zoo there is truly amazing, maybe my expectations were too high. On a brighter note Ashley was amazing!! She took the time to talk with us about our disappointing experience. She also explained about some of the upgrades and new animals coming. I am excited to see this. Planning a return trip in the fall!
Gateway to the West with historic structures & ruins, trails, cave tours, waterfalls & more.
What a beautiful area with picturesque views! Stopped in the visitor center to buy some goodies and then went up the Pinnacle Overlook to snap some pics! Definitely check this place out, mark it off your bucket list, and get some great photos while visiting! Unless you want to hike the trails, this can be a quick visit, we were there no more than an hour/hour and a half.

This national park is outstanding. It's unbelievably beautiful, so scenic, walkable, and family-friendly. We stopped at the visitors center first, I loved it, it was very clean, organized, and friendly staff. Then, we went to Pinnacle Overlook and wow the views were unbelievable. Our last stop here was the Iron Furnace. I'm so glad we went!

The Cumberland Gap National Historic park is a nice place to visit. I did not come prepared to hike the longer trails but did drive to Pinnacle Overlook and hiked the short distance to it. The park is well-maintained and offers many beautiful trails and areas to explore. The museum is well done and offers much insight into the history of the area. Had there not been a handful of protestors, I would rate it a five. They detracted from the experience of enjoying the grounds around the visitor’s center.

A lovely park with scenic views and hiking trails. It is dog friendly and offers a good perspective on how the pioneers got to Kentucky

This is my second hike through this area. The first time we did the Gap and the Tri-State Peak. Today we took the Tennessee road trail to the Wilderness trail, then completed the Boone trail. We headed back to the Boone parking lot and then took the wooden boardwalk into town where we had parked at the entrance to the Tennessee Road Trail and Iron Furnace.
What's a bit overcast but it was absolutely beautiful and peaceful.
Yvette R — Google review
Lots of fog the day we went. The views of the "gap" were somewhat limited. Also, for some reason, I did not expect to look down on the town. It sort of ruined the view for me. I was hoping to experience the views of those early travelers -- Daniel Boone era.
Julie B — Google review
Great park with a nice assortment of hiking trails from easy to omg what have I gotten myself into. Drive up to the pinnacles for a great view. Hike to the tri-state marker. Do the cave trail.
Vincent N — Google review
It's a nice paved semi quiet campground. We moved to the opposite side away from the highway and as always found a spot on the fly.
The campground isn't really on any treasure or historical site but it's all a short drive from everything... or a long hike.
We hiked the Cumberland gap, went to the tri state marker, furnace site, etc.
It's not a simple stroll for a 100% Disabled veteran.. but nonetheless doable walking our lab puppy.
It was worth the stop, pretty during early spring, not real busy and the old town is worth the visit.
It's a little different as segments of the National park are scattered about but typical of much of the east coast structure.
People are friendly and the busy city across the tunnel has everything needed except a decent diesel truck stop for large Freightliner motorhomes. There's a few quality fuel stops big enough.... before town.. FYI.
The American Museum of Science and Energy in Oak Ridge, Tennessee is an educational institution that offers interactive displays focusing on energy, particularly nuclear power. As a Smithsonian affiliate, the museum provides an engaging way for visitors to delve into the city's unique history and explore the innovative advancements achieved over the past 75 years. The museum features interesting exhibits and also offers bus tours of historic Manhattan Project sites such as the X-10 Graphite Reactor.
Very informative and interactive. The volunteer at the front desk was very knowledgeable. Lady at the gift shop was very helpful. Overall a great museum. The only downside was one employee in the James Webb area sitting on her phone playing a game loud enough that you could hear it throughout the back of the museum.

Went for our first time today on the bus tour. What they presented was very interesting, however, not enough time at the stops to look around. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, but a bit too demanding. Limiting our time at stops and bathroom breaks. He was just not very approachable What we did see was very interesting. I don’t know if I’d go again.

It's one of my favorite places in the area. There is so much interesting info you can gather. The presentations in the lab are interesting, too. For adults, it takes about 2 hours to really dig into the exhibits. I had taken many visitors there, but I always find something new to discover myself as well.

I enjoyed this museum as an adult who likes technology and loves to learn. This is also a great place to take kids. They have a number of hands-on activities and it's only $10 to enter. You could spend a few hours here or more depending on how much you want to read. They have a really cool movie in the theater area And a nice small gift shop.
Scenic park with a waterfall, hiking & gem mining, plus lodging, horseback riding & a fire tower.
Took a quick family trip for Fall break and have really enjoyed our time here! Our cabin was perfect for our needs and was a great place to crash after a long day of hiking. Breakfast at the lodge was included with our stay and it fit great into our morning schedule. The trails are well maintained and the views are spectacular! The staff are incredibly friendly and got us a cabin near the playground. My son is already begging to come back.

Needs some upgrades which are reportedly coming in the fall; however, it is a beautiful place and very comfortable. The dining room food was amazing! Ragu Bolognese and Pork Marsala one night, fabulous fish and hush puppies another night. Also a nice salad bar and soups. I was stuffed both nights I was there!

Cumberland falls or "Niagara of the South" as it is nicknamed is truly a marvel and should be on everyone's bucket list. This park is stunning and well maintained. However that is not the real draw here, it of course is the falls. They truly are breathtaking to see. We went after a huge rain and the river was swollen to a breaking point, it could not have been more of a true wonder to personally witness. There are many trails around but it had been very rainy during the time we were there so we did not get to enjoy those. Some years ago I hiked a few and every one was so beautiful that I hiked. This is a solid 10 out of 10.

The falls and park area are nice. It's a beautiful stop in an otherwise empty area. The bathrooms, however are sketchy. We ate at the lodge. They only offered a lunch buffet and it was not good. We would go again, though, for the stunning views

We stopped on a road trip on 75, the falls were beautiful and had a nice variety of viewing areas which were safe and easy to navigate.
Looks like a great place for hiking, to camp or stay in a cabin, we definitely want to look into staying here in the future vacation.

Rooms are basic but fine. Everything was clean. Views of the river and mountains were awesome. The breakfast was fine. Maybe a little overpriced for the selection. But not terrible. The trails around the lodge were fun to hike. Not a lot on the surrounding area. But there are restaurants about 20-30 minutes away. All in all it was a good time.

Very nice and clean park. The visitor center was helpful. There is a restaurant there and access to water. The people in the gift shop gave us a map and told us where we could camp nearby. The bathrooms there were surprisingly clean. Overall great experience

Little steep drive in and cozy spots for RVs, but quiet relaxing. The bathrooms look brand new, and it has a laundry room. Check out the falls then head up to chill out.
Quaint rooms, suites & cottages in a bucolic setting with history exhibits & farm-to-table dining.
An amazing place of Americana history. The general tour guide was a wealth of knowledge. Whatever tidbit you know of "The Shakers", will be brought into full light with the tour. I highly recommend it. We were there the day after Christmas and while it was cold outside, the facts being conveyed were so historically compelling it warmed the mind and feet!
Because this general tour happens outside along the main path, additional seating for the less able body in the places where they stopped to narrate would be helpful.
It would be amazing in the spring with the beautiful grounds. We hope to return and stay overnight at the Inn to explore more and hike on the grounds.
The food served in the restaurant was decent and the wait staff was fun and engaging. Perhaps a bit pricey, but it's a numbers game. They can only serve so many folks and they are outside normal distribution areas for vendors serving restaurants.
If you're on a budget, pack food and picnic (please don't litter).
Shakers knew how to woodwork, among other things, as evidenced by their furniture that stands the test of time and their amazing curved stairs they crafted.
Shaker Village is a historical gem for both KY and the country.
Imagine the time and era that they lived in and what life must have been like back then.
Enjoy!

The Kong bedroom was very nice, but the A/C wasn't working very well.
One of the staff gave us a box fan to use, which pretty much solved the problem. But in the middle of summer, it would not be comfy without the A/C.
The bottom of the garden tub could use a new bottom or a good bleaching. Although very thing looked clean.
Also, there is no mini fridge in the bedroom for chilling water, etc.
But the ambiance and historical value are wonderful.
Ellen S — Google review
This was a wonderful glimpse into the real history of the Shakers. Original buildings, including the ones you sleep in and well organized displays giving you real perspective on their life and the evolution of the Shakers movement. Rooms are very basic, but are historic. Food at the local restaurant was excellent, but not inexpensive. This was a great experience, especially for anyone who is interested in American history.

It is known for hosting a variety of races throughout the year, including prestigious events like the Breeder's Cup Classic as well as lesser-known but significant races such as the Spring Fling Handicap Race for 3-Year-Olds.
Did the morning works tour and it was great to see the horses in action. The guide was very informative and excited to share the tracks history. It was cool to walk around and explore after, and their gift shop has some neat things! Definitely worth going!

The tour around the facilities at Keeneland is one of my most favorite sightseeing adventures I've done. I went the day before the Kentucky Derby, so no racing was happening, but I can't wait to come back for the spring or fall meet.
Our tour guide, Lynn, was amazing, knowledgeable, and friendly. We got to see all the ins and outs of the facility, including standing in the Winners Cirlce to watch morning routines. We got to go inside the clubhouse and learn the history of the founding of Keeneland. This is such a cool experience and historic track.

An absolutely gorgeous racetrack steeped in equestrian racing history. When I visited for the first time, it was quite empty, giving us plenty of opportunity to explore the entire premises. The second time, I returned for the spring meet, and the experience was nothing short of amazing. I must say, the grounds are aesthetically more appealing than the much better-known Churchill Downs.
Kentucky Horse Park is a sprawling 1,032-acre attraction that offers a wide range of activities and facilities. The park also features various event spaces such as the Man O War Memorial, Club Lounge, Campground Pavilion, Alltech Arena, Rolex Stadium, Covered Arena, Hunter Jumper Complex Rings, Walnut Stadium, Dressage Complex and Cross Country Course/Steeplechase Course.
Never even heard of this place till some of my family wanted to go there as part of their vacation. But I can say it was worth the gas ti drive there and the walking to see everything! Very open and outdoors if that’s your thing, not super crowded like you get a Disneyland. Love the horses they have there and very informative about every one, also the museum they have is a nice change of pace and make sure to take your time and enjoy it! Also the horse riding experience looked fun as well!

Several short shows around the park to attend that are good and educational. They are definitely geared towards people who know nothing or minimal about horses, but they include lots of history, so it's still nice for horse people.
The museum is nice and has LOADS of information and fascinating history. You could probably spend a month there and still have more to learn.
There's opportunities to pet some of the horses and talk to the staff about them.
There's horse trollys that will take you on a short tour around the park where the guide will explain what each area is for and what you can go see.
The gift shop has the typical souvenirs, but nice to get a Kentucky Horse Park branded shirt!
Definitely worth a visit!

Wonderful park. Loved it and the daily showcases. The map they give you to navigate unfortunately is the only downfall. Ask, don't follow the map. Getting to the hall of fame barn was not as the map showed. But it is a beautiful park, well tended and cared for and so were the horses.
Tours of a bourbon-making facility, plus tastings & merchandise at a visitor center with bar & shop.
The distillery grounds are unique as there is a definite Spanish influence, which is cool. They are in a beautiful area with rolling hills around. One of the things I thought was really cool was that on the tours you get headsets to listen to the tour guide, so the guide doesn't have to scream, and everybody can hear well. The tasting room was nice, and I enjoyed everything I had. Nice gift shop as well. And with it being one of the older ones, some real cool history.

Our visit to Four Roses Distillery was enjoyable, though it didn’t quite stand out compared to some other distilleries on the Bourbon Trail. Our tour guide, Grayson, was informative and did a solid job leading the tour.
The tasting experience was decent, but nothing particularly memorable. The bourbons were good, but they didn’t quite wow me. However, the Spanish Mission-style architecture of the distillery was really unique and impressive, definitely setting it apart from other distilleries in Kentucky.
Overall, it was a nice experience, but not necessarily a must-do. Worth a visit if you’re a fan of Four Roses, but there are other distilleries I’d prioritize first.

Charming and Unique: Four Roses Distillery
Four Roses Distillery is a delightful stop for bourbon enthusiasts, offering a cozy and inviting experience. The small distillery boasts a charming gift shop filled with great souvenirs and bourbon-themed treasures.
The tour itself is concise yet highly informative. Equipped with headsets, guests can hear every detail clearly, even while exploring the operational areas. The standout feature of the distillery is its stunning Spanish-inspired architecture, which gives the campus a truly unique and picturesque charm.
The tasting session is a highlight, emphasizing the rich complexity and layered flavors that make Four Roses bourbon so distinctive.
A must-visit for anyone exploring the Bourbon Trail and looking to experience the craftsmanship and beauty of individual distilleries.

This was one of our favorite stops on the bourbon trail. The Spanish style architecture was beautiful and the distillery grounds were beautiful. Grayson was a great tour guide and we were able to go in the mash house, the distilling room, walk the grounds and the tasting was excellent. They have a very nice gift shop with a lot of Four Roses merchandise. They do not have rick houses at this location so we were unable to go in the actual rick house where aging was taking place. Other reviews of this tour people actually didn't seem to like this tour as much but when we took it, we loved the tour and thought it was a top 5 of the 16 distilleries we visited during the week. This is definitely worth a stop and tour on the Bourbon trail.

One of the unique distilleries that looks different from the rest. They explain why on the tour. Tour guide was great but I felt the the tour could have been a little better. The guide however was great. The bar, shop and tasting rooms were excellent and beautiful. Def worth a stop. Get your tickets online to avoid showing up and not having any left. They have the other site in Bardstown that they do offer a free tour for that with the purchase to this tour if interested.

We have been to the Louisville area many times and never made it to Four Roses. Located in Lawrenceburg, this is a first class operation.
We signed up for their 30 minute tasting and overview experience and it was fantastic.
As soon as you enter you check in and are given tickets. It is advised you arrive at least 15 minutes prior . You can walk around and look at some of their displays, shop in their gift store or have a drink at their Bar 1888.. Drinks are allowed on the tours.
We each ordered a drink..old fashion and a mint julip since it was Derby week. It came with a souvenir glass but it was pricey.
After the tour and tasting (4),we shopped a little bit and enjoyed our drinks on the outside patio overlooking the distillery grounds
A fantastic way to spend an afternoon in Tennessee.

Great Visit to Four Roses Distillery

Famed bourbon producer offering tours, events & a restaurant for local, seasonal dishes & cocktails.
Perhaps my favorite distillery experience of them all in the area. The whole process and area was amazing and beautiful. The check in center and various places around the distillery are like you are walking around and art gallery which they explain in the tour. Everyone was amazing, the tour guide was great and knowledgeable. It’s a walking tour but it takes you through so many nice areas to see and experience. Not much walking wasted. The buildings are beautiful. The tasting part was great. My favorite part was at the gift shop they let you buy a bottle at retail price and let you wax the top yourself. So cool to have a bottle at home that I waxed. So worth it. I enjoyed every aspect of it! Buy your tickets online and plan out the time to get there. Came in early Feb which was perfect as it avoided the big crowds.

We had an amazing experience at Makers Mark. We were a little worried as some of the other bigger name places were more commercialized and cookie cutter. Makers being a big name still had that cozy home town small distiller feel to it.
Their campus is absolutely beautiful and has a nice mix of original and updated buildings. Beautiful farms and gardens, very clean and well landscaped.
I highly recommend doing the whisky Creek Walking Tour! Our tour guide was great, and very knowledgeable. They took us through their gardens, mushroom farm, mini waterfalls, large farms, then the inners of the distillery operations.
What was a surprise was we got a free glass to bring along the way, and our guide would stop from time to time to let us take pictures and pour us samples of their higher end rare products. At the end of the tour we got exclusive purchase rights to their farmers version makers bottle and got to wax seal it ourselves. Their bar area was very nice and had amazing drinks and outside sitting area with a view of the campus
Very memorable experience!

The campus is absolutely beautiful, and the tour was packed with so many cool details about the history and bourbon-making process. Logan, our tour guide, was fantastic—super knowledgeable, fun, and made the experience even better. There’s a lot of walking, but it’s totally worth it because you get to see so much behind the scenes.
Anyone can dip their own bottle if you purchase one, which is such a cool touch. They also have a really neat-looking bar that we didn’t get to try this time, but if we ever go back, we’re definitely stopping in for a drink.

I've been to several distilleries on the Bourbon Trail, but the grounds at Maker's Mark are by far the most beautiful. Very well manicured and thoughtful. We came for a tour and tasting in a group of four. I was immediately impressed with the beauty of the grounds and the stunning, modern art style of the waiting area and art installations around campus. It was a beautiful contrast that married classic and modern.
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and practiced, though I felt like there were a few times he had to move quickly to stay on schedule. A little more breathing room to the itinerary might be good.
The tour-visible equipment was very well laid out and accessible to visitors, and I enjoyed seeing their distillation equipment compared to some others we'd seen. The cedar lined vats were novel.
I loved the Margie room and all the info about her and the other founding figures that our guide gave. I also enjoyed seeing the staving progress and cave.
Overall it was a lovely tour.

Trevor was in the check in area early and ready to greet our group. He was extremely knowledgeable about distillery/farms facts and processes. In addition to being able to answer all questions we had, he was personable and welcoming, we greatly enjoyed his stories. The progressive tasting tour in each of the different areas stood out from other tours. It enhanced the experience by tasting the distillate right from the still, 46 in the cellar, and 101 in the art area. Very, very cool. Trevor offered and took professional photos at stops along the way and even obliged when we asked him to get in the pic with us to commemorate our special day. The self sufficient property, beautiful combination of art and science, the best tour guide, and top notch whisky made it truly a one of a kind experience, better than any other distillery visit we've had. Grateful for Trevor's hospitality, he helped us create wonderful memories. If I could rate him higher than 5 stars, I would. 10 stars, 20 stars, give him all the stars! We will definitely be back! THANK YOU!
Buffalo Trace Distillery, located in Frankfort, is a time-honored establishment that has been producing its own line of bourbons for over 230 years. As one of the oldest continuously operating distilleries in the US, it holds the status of a National Historic Landmark. So much to do here! Bring your walking shoes and your whole family! One of the only distilleries the kids can attend but for that reason it’s much busier than the others we visited. The gardens were very pretty and the gift shop is HUGE! David (our taster) was the best! So friendly and fun.

Located in Williamstown, KY, the Ark Encounter is a must-visit attraction featuring a massive life-size replica of Noah's Ark. This architectural marvel spans over 510 feet long and offers an immersive experience with interactive exhibits and a zoo. The museum provides a thought-provoking atmosphere with sounds and sights that encourage reflections on life and purpose. Visitors can explore physical and historical evidence supporting the concept of the ark while enjoying amenities such as shopping and restrooms.
This place is massive. The displays are laid out well and are very informative. They do a great job of showing how Noah and his family would have built the ark and managed the animals during the flood. There is a strong gospel message here and they are unashamed of the biblical message. They are strongly against evolutionary theories and use science, history, etc. to disprove them. This is a great place to bring a family. I hope to have my grandchildren here one day.

Wow! Amazing place! Well put together, clean, thoughtful journey with Noah. Many signs explaining the Biblical viewpoint vs. traditional scientific. We drove 2 1/2 hrs from our vacation home to see this, and it was well worth it. Allow at least 4 hours to experience everything. There’s a zoo and camel rides too!

It took us two days to walk through this immense ark. There were so many signs to read, well-done displays to view, and a few enjoyable short movies to watch. As senior citizens, we took our time and did not hurry. The gift shops are beautiful and the zoo area is charming and attractive. There was a "virtual reality" activity called "Truth Traveller" that we enjoyed. We even rode "The Journey of the Animals" carousel (free with admission). Buses shuttle you from the parking lot to the Ark. It's a short ride, and there are plenty of buses to make sure there are no long lines to wait in. One thing we very much appreciated was the abundance of restrooms...nice, clean restrooms. We saw lots of families touring the Ark. There were gently-sloped ramps to accommodate strollers and wagons. There were also plenty of elevators that were very convenient. I highly recommend The Ark Encounter.

Same as the distillery don't miss this place it was great and the staff were awesome do not close but just promote it more!!! The best Bourbon Balls and free tasting. Do not shut down the History of this place its amazing. The free bugs is a nice touch. The Bourbon Liquor was so good. Management would be crazy to stop the tours but promote it more instead would help the brand for sure.
Cater to the audience at hand.

Small group, so we were able to spend a little more time and ask some more questions and get a little more info. It was cold the day of our tour so dress warm it was alot in n out and outside. The bourbon was delicious, the chocolate and bourbon cream were smooth. Worth your time.

Such a beautiful place to visit. And the staff was so friendly. We would visit again but tours will be stopping after June. :(
At James B. Beam Distilling Co., visitors can enjoy the America Outpost experience, which includes tours of Four Roses Warehouse & Bottling, Gallant Fox Brewing Co., and four local wineries. The Bourbon the Beam Way tour provides insight into the company's history and production process, with engaging guides like Holden and Courtney. The tour also offers a glimpse into barrel aging and concludes with an informative bourbon tasting.
One of my top distilleries I visited. The whole process is organized, friendly staff, and beautiful area! Bought tickets ahead of time online. The tour was very cool, very informative, our tour guy was great! They give you a walk through the process and have some hands on learning while also stopping along the way to taste some bourbon! Gift shop and bar are beautiful. Restaurant out back is amazing. So many things to love about the experience. Towards the bottling part where they show you how they put the wax on the tops, they let you buy a bottle for retail price, then let you put your finger print on the wax, so if you are planning to buy a bottle, this was a cool unique option. I was on the first tour on a Friday morning and there was only 3 people so it was pretty much a private tour. Came during early February and it seemed like the perfect time to avoid big crowds.

A well run and pleasant location and tour of the factory. The basic tour costs about $25 with tax and lasted just over an hour. It was educational, although what you saw was mostly staged although the 3 whiskeys we had were real enough. This is Not dog friendly tours or buildings contrary to some comments. Good overall experience.

We had an amazing visit! Justin was a very knowledgeable tour guide and had a lot of interesting info catered to our interests. Nicole at the kitchen table took such good care of us and personalized our drinks to our tastes. We couldn’t have asked for a better tasting and dining experience! Thank you!

Last weekend I did the Beam Made Bourbon Distillery Tour & Tasting in Clermont, Kentucky, and it was one of the best distillery experiences I’ve had on the Bourbon Trail.
The tour covered multiple buildings and gave a detailed look at the entire bourbon-making process—from grain to bottle. It was informative without feeling too technical, and our guide did a great job balancing history, process, and storytelling. There’s a strong sense of legacy here, with plenty of insight into the Beam and Noe family history and their role in shaping American bourbon.
We tasted a variety of bourbons during the guided tasting, including Jim Beam, Basil Hayden, and Knob Creek. The Knob Creek tasting stood out, and it was cool to see their bottling line in action. After the official tour wrapped up, we headed to the tasting room where you can purchase additional pours from a bartender. I tried a few of the flavored varieties and really liked the Fire—definitely a fun, easy-drinking option with a bit of spice.
The facilities were clean, well-designed, and easy to navigate. Everything felt very polished but still authentic. We had considered eating at the on-site restaurant, The Kitchen Table, but it closes at 5 p.m. on Saturdays and our tour finished just after that—worth planning around if you’re visiting on the weekend.
Overall, the Beam Made experience was a great mix of education, history, and hands-on tasting. Highly recommended whether you’re just starting to explore bourbon or already a fan of the Beam lineup.

Amazing tour with Sydney for the Fred B Noe innovation tour. She went into some of the history behind the line and shared some really cool stories. Very knowledgeable and open. We left some notes when we booked and it was clear that she read them, which informed our tasting at the end. This isn’t just another bourbon tour. Very highly recommended!

We thoroughly enjoyed the 1.5-hour Distillery Tour and Tasting on a rainy Tuesday. Though we don't drink, we came to learn about the company's history and the bourbon-making process. Our guide, Nikki, was outstanding—she shared tons of information and answered all our questions. We loved seeing the production facilities, and the tour also offered excellent visuals and staged areas that provided great context. The gift shop is nice, but be aware the restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The tour includes four tastings at three stops. If you're not drinking, book the under-21 ticket to save money. We had an excellent time overall.

Gorgeous property!! We booked the Beam Reserve Tasting and it was great. The visitors center is a two story gift shop with every Jim Beam brand bottle you could think of, yes even those very hard to find like Bakers 13 and they even had the Little Book Chapter 9 that was just release days before we arrived. There are two large tasting rooms upstairs and a large bar. Service was great. The food and service at the restaurant was also excellent!

One of Americas oldest distilleries making Bourbon for over 200 years. Very well developed tour showcasing the distilling process, from mash making, fermentation, distillation, and storage buildings. Loads of information from early beginning showcasing the development of the bourbons and whiskey over the years. Samples are given to taste at each stage during the tour, not like most that do the taste testing at the end.
You can watch a small bottling line fill a bottle of Knob Creek and personalize the wax cap with your fingerprint, and purchase it in the gift shop after the tour.
I strongly recommend making a stop at Jim Beam to tour the facility and property when on the Bourbon Trail!!
Louisville Mega Cavern is a former limestone quarry that has been transformed into an underground adventure playground. It offers a variety of activities such as zip lining, ropes courses, tram tours, and e-bike tours. The cavern's history dates back to the 1930s when it was used as a working limestone mine and quarry. During the Cold War, it served as a fallout shelter before being repurposed into a commercial storage facility and later into a tourist attraction.
Explored the Mega Cavern in Kentucky, and it was amazing. The sheer scale of this massive 100ft. underground wonder is awe-inspiring. Our tour guide was not only knowledgeable but also hilarious, making the experience both entertaining and educational.
I learned fascinating facts about the cavern's history, geology, and unique features. The tram tour took us through the cavern, showcasing some interesting rock formations and underground landscapes.
Although we didn't have time to try the zip lines or obstacle course, they looked like so much fun with music and lights all around.
This is definitely something new and different to do if you get the chance.

Our group of 6 had an amazing time ziplining here. I’ve been ziplining a few times before. I’ve been in different caverns before. Combine the two and add lights plus music..awesome! The guides were fun while making us feel safe at the same time.

Churchill Downs is a historic and iconic thoroughbred horse-racing track located in Louisville, Kentucky. It is most famous for hosting the annual Kentucky Derby, a prestigious event in the world of horse racing. The site also features a museum that offers tours to visitors year-round.
The Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory is a must-visit attraction in Louisville, offering tours and exhibits on the iconic sports equipment. The museum showcases the handcrafting process of the famous Louisville Slugger baseball bats, which have been an industry standard for nearly 140 years. Located in Downtown Louisville on Museum Row, visitors can explore interactive exhibits and learn about the history of baseball while admiring iconic artifacts like Babe Ruth's bat.
Not very big but very informative. We loved it. The tour allows you a first hand look at the ins/outs of bat making. Wheelchairs available for use if needed at no cost. Staff extremely friendly and knowledgeable. You do receive small Louisville bats at the end of tour which my husband loved. They do have batting cages, a bat vault, and a section that shows how fast pitches occur. No food/beverage for purchase. Takes about 1 hour, maybe 2 if you are really taking your time. I definitely recommend.

What a fun adventure it was to take the tour at the Louiseville Museum and Factory. We went on a Saturday afternoon. There were educational videos explaining how the bats are made. And you actually get to watch the process happen as you walk through the tour. There were lots of kids on the tour, and they seemed to enjoy it as much as the adults. At the end of the tour, everyone was given a complimentary mini Louisville Slugger bat. There were lots of interesting displays. If you are in the area, I highly recommend this tour for anyone, especially groups and families.
Clifty Falls State Park is a stunning destination with waterfalls, canyons, and a range of activities. Visitors can enjoy hiking, swimming, tennis, and camping while exploring the park's natural beauty. The lodging options include cozy log cabins in the woods, a State Park Inn overlooking the historic district, and camping facilities within the park. Despite being popular, the trails are well-maintained with maps available and recreational areas.
Busy spring day, but definitely worth it! Took a hike on Trail 5 and the view of Tunnel Falls did not disappoint. Definitely looking forward to the cave being open soon as it was closed at the time of our visit. After hiking on Trail 5 we took a drive around the park and checked out the observation tower. After that, we headed to Trail 7 and viewed both Big and Little Cliffy Falls. This is a great state park with lots of awesome trails and lots of photo opportunities. If anybody is looking to visit, I highly recommend!

Clifty Falls, Tunnel Falls, and Hoffman Falls are all breathtaking—especially after rain.
Ranging from easy paved paths to rugged, rocky trails with creek crossings. Trails 2, 4, and 5 are more adventurous and scenic.
•. Trail 2 is a favorite for adventure seekers—expect rocky climbs and creek crossings.
• Trail 7 offers a more leisurely, family-friendly option.
Clifty Falls is a must-visit for Midwest hikers who love waterfalls, a little challenge, and scenic forest trails. Great for a day hike or weekend nature getaway.

Very nice park, but if you come to hike be prepared for a challenge. Most of the trails are moderately rugged or more. All the facilities are well maintained, as well as the roads, trails, and other areas. Plenty for young kids to do, and a nice campground area. It's a great deal, especially for IN residents.

Came here for a couple days with my teen grandkids . We enjoyed the pool and hot tub as 90 outside. Had breakfast in the restaurant. Food . was good . Service slow all-around. Kids built a fire in the pit and we had a patio room which was nice and comfy and nice view of the river.

I'd definitely recommend coming out here to visit! It's beautiful out here with so many waterfalls, caves, overlooks, swimming and picnicking opportunities, awesome rock formations, and so much more! We hiked ≈8 miles from trail 6 (hickory lot) and made a loop down, around, and back up to the hickory parking lot. So much to see!
I'd recommend bringing: Hiking Poles (if you want to get to more remote areas/some trails are very steep), WATER, FOOD, Flashlight (for cave), and Shoes (that you're willing to get wet/muddy). Happy Trails!

This is a great place for families. The campgrounds (tent or RV) are clean, with toilets, laundry and roomy sites. But it’s popular, so book early. Trails are extensive and include parking, so you needn’t walk very far. We walked 9 miles, however, and didn’t see everything. The trails are shady and challenging in some places; proper footware and hiking poles recommended. There is a nature center, lookout tower and a camp store with food, kids’ toys and souvenirs. A neat feature is a historic railroad project that bankrupted the company before it was built, but foundations, a tunnel and signs of drilling are still there. The tunnel has been closed to tourists because of falling rock and to protect native bats that reside there. Do not expect to see Niagara; these are shallow, wispy falls over sedimentary rock all along Clifty Creek.

Great park has about all you need camping, hotel with a pool. Playgrounds, trails that are mostly shaded, nice roads to bike on,close to Madison in case you want a little variety. Park seems well taken care of. Usually able to see deer in park too. The falls are better and better after a good rain. Easy to get around in the park. Easy to read signs for directions in park at intersection.

This is a very Rugged park! There are access spots to see the sights if you can't make the full trail hikes which is really nice! Camp ground is very nice! Clean! But beware the trash pandas will visit you! Keep your stuff up!! Especially the food! They don't care if you see them 😆..
Horseshoe Indianapolis in Shelbyville offers an exhilarating experience with live thoroughbred and quarter horse racing, as well as a variety of betting options. In addition to the heart-pounding races, visitors can try their luck at the latest slot machines and table games. The establishment also boasts exceptional restaurants, a lively bar at the center of the action, and more. It's just a short drive from the city center, making it a convenient escape for locals and tourists alike.
First time visiting this casino. We were a little worried after reading some reviews but were pleasantly surprised. We didn't smell smoke. Everything was clean. Machines were all working, and we did really well here. We will definitely come back again. Easy entrance on/off the expressway also. Plenty of machines to chose from also.

A casino is a casino. The odds are against you. It's tough to rate a casino - did you win or lose? My ratings are mostly based on the selection of games, cleanliness and availability of food. I do like the selection of slots here and the casino is sometimes not as clean as I would like it but some of the blame goes to patrons too who can't throw their trash away. But I do enjoy the Horseshoe.
Deb O — Google review
Tons of slots and tables just a quick drive from Indy. The servers and dealers are friendly and top-notch. Smoking is allowed throughout the casino, except for a small area with slots. Jackpots can take a while on the busiest nights. There's a WSOP room in the way back. Both sit down restaurants have good food options. Be sure to join Caesars Rewards so you get free play offers.

I just went to the racetrack. The venue is well kept, clean and comfortable. The staff is knowledgeable and super friendly. Everything is easy to get to. Race card was good. Burglar was amazing! If you are looking for a fun, casual and comfortable day at the races, this is the track for you.

I have won a couple of hand-pays here, but they are very few and far between. Most of the people winning jackpots or hand pays are the ones betting $5.00 or more a spin.
The complementary drink stations are absolutely disgusting!! I can’t imagine what the fountain drink lines look like or the bottom of the ice machine. I know you can’t control how people clean up after themselves, but you can tell these machines have not been cleaned in a very long time!! (See photos) The couple of times I’ve told someone a fountain drink is out I’m told it will be replaced when the morning shift arrives.
They do have a free parking garage and a huge parking lot outside of that. The parking lot is almost always empty so I don’t understand why it is such a big deal for semis or regular trucks with trailers to park in the lot and come inside for a while. I could understand if they were staying for days-but the casino will literally page the person as soon as security notices that a semi or a large truck is in the lot. I find that extremely odd, considering they are literally two minutes from the interstate.
As others have stated the comps here are a joke. I’ve received more free play from the Terre Haute Casino thats only been open a few months, than I’ve gotten playing at this casino for years.
The best thing this casino has going for them is their location.

I friggin love this place. It's awesome. The live poker is great. Blackjack, Roulette, slot machines, it's amazing! Free soda. Can't be best. As for the ATM fee, I always bring my own cash. That is my gambling limit. What I walk in with. The food is present good. Yes, there is cigarette smoke, but damn, we are all adults here. Quit being a Karen about it! I recommend this for anyone who is wanting a mini vacation!

We had a really good time when we went. We pulled cash before we went in to set our spend limit and had fun. The workers were all very nice. We sat down at an empty blackjack table and the dealer helped to teach us how to play. The house is always going to win but the wife and I both enjoyed it.
Smoking is allowed throughout the casino floor, which means ashtrays are everywhere and there are of course drinks that people just leave laying around. We went on a Friday evening and I think they did a great job keeping up. If more patrons actually picked up after themselves, it would of course be better.
Kyle K — Google review
The staff is pleasant, however the wait time to get paid out for jackpots is the slowest in the country. There should be dedicated staff to the high limit room. There is no reason high limit gamblers should wait a hour just to get the jackpot cleared and another hour to be paid, it’s ridiculous. And no this isn’t just on busy nights, it’s often.
Nestled in the heart of Indiana, Brown County State Park is a breathtaking escape that spans nearly 16,000 acres of rugged terrain. Often referred to as the "Little Smokies" due to its striking resemblance to the Great Smoky Mountains, this park boasts an array of outdoor activities for nature enthusiasts. With over 20 miles of hiking and biking trails winding through picturesque landscapes, visitors can immerse themselves in the beauty of tree-lined roads and scenic vistas that showcase uninterrupted forest views.
Love this place! Camped at the Taylors Ridge Campground within the state park this weekend. The views are absolutely breathtaking. The park is very clean and well kept. I can't believe I didn't visit this place until the last few days of my daughter's final year at IU. I wish we visited more over the past 4 years. My dog enjoyed walking the trails, too. Some of the vista views were quite nice. I'd imagine the fall foliage would make these views stunning as advertised. We spent couple hours hiking about 5 miles. There are multiple other trails a short drive away within the state park that we didn't get to hike. Come and enjoy a full day hiking in nature!

We tent camped. Facilities were clean and average compared to experience.
We purchased firewood at the camp store. They keep most of it under cover. Was able to start a camp fire even in wet conditions. Staff was friendly except for mower. Mowing in the rain and throwing debris across the roadway at our campsite. Side chute was tied open and should have been respectfully shut.

Indiana University Bloomington, the flagship campus of a prestigious institution and home of the Hoosiers, is at the heart of the community. The park-like layout offers scenic stops with fountains, green spaces, and historic academic buildings. Established in 1820, it has been integral to defining Bloomington for over two centuries. Unofficially known as a public ivy-league school, it rivals top ivy-league colleges.
A stunning blend of history, nature, and culture!
This place is the heart of Bloomington and a must-see for visitors. With its gorgeous limestone buildings, charming walking paths, and rich arts scene, it offers something special for everyone.
Walking through the iconic Sample Gates, I felt the welcoming spirit of the campus. I loved exploring the peaceful paths, especially in the fall, when the trees burst into brilliant colors. The Eskenazi Museum of Art was a highlight, with impressive works from around the world. I also enjoyed the quiet beauty of the Rose Well House, where tradition says couples kiss for good luck.
Music lovers shouldn’t miss a performance at the Jacobs School of Music, which often hosts free concerts featuring talented students. I found the campus easy to explore on foot, with plenty of spots to stop, relax, and enjoy the scenery.
This place is more than a university, it’s a hub of art, history, and nature. Whether you’re here for a tour, a concert, or a peaceful walk, it’s a perfect way to experience the spirit of Bloomington.

The worst experience I had with a university. No one knows how to help, they just transfer to a different department back and forth. Multiple emails and phone calls even going in person is of no use. Wrongful information was also presented and no one cares or is ready to take responsibility or action to resolve a problem. Very disappointing for a big university like this. What is the point of such big multiple departments when no one knows what to do or how to help. Very Ridiculous!

I grew up in this town & went to IU for a semester. I got my degree in health care administration from University of Arizona(good)while I was in the Army & I'm currently in an ABSN program(horrible) & regret not attending nursing school at IU. Don't go to private universities they are more expensive & have a lower quality education to offer. I've had a few Professors quit mid-course & the director of the acclerated nursing school just quit, lol. I am a B student & learning alot but if I needed more guidance I would be screwed. If you're looking at acclerated programs go to IU indy or whatever it's called.
