My first time in PR and I had to get a birthday gift for my friend, I was told San Juan had some exclusive stuff so I really wanted to go. The customer service wasn’t bad but I could tell the associate was getting frustrated taking two orders at once and rearranging charms. We were probably in the store about an hour and ten mins, mostly because the associate kept mixing our orders up. When I picked something out for myself and was doing a surprise gift she kept showing the person I was buying it for, I was annoyed. We kept going back and forth on the price because I was led to believe they were throwing a birthday charm in for “free” because that’s what I was told. I expected my total to be around $295. But when she rang me up it came to $400, we kept going back and forth about what she said was “free” and not telling me how HIGH there tax rate is. I wouldn’t mind the price if she hadn’t told me “I’ll throw this one in for free”. So of course I’m trying to surprise her with something else that she didn’t see, it was ruined. That tax rate by the way was maybe 11% which came to an extra $40
something odd dollars. I was already annoyed because I felt like I was led on and played, but in the end after an hour and ten minutes of back and forth I was just ready to go. $400 later…happy birthday to my friend 🥴
