Wonderful place for breakfast in Old San Juan! Saw this place on one of our favorite travel vloggers and it did not disappoint. I had the ham, egg, and cheese Mallorca and it was amazing! The powdered sugar is optional but well worth it in my opinion. Service was friendly and efficient!
Ok. I am not sure who is giving this place 5 stars. 😬 *NOT American friendly *- the food was not very good, the eggs tasted super weird and were cover cooked. The bacon was just ok, some of it was edible. The service was not good. And I’m pretty sure the person who was seating us didn’t even acknowledge us until 20 min later? On the flip side the Mallorca with butter was really good, as well as the fresh lemonade. But I wouldn’t go back just for those things.
Very old breakfast spot. Very crowded. No air conditioning to speak of. But they serve an excellent breakfast at unbelievable prices and offer the best service you can imagine. Plus: breakfast, consisting of two eggs, two breads, plenty of bacon and coffee for $10.50. Cannot beat it. And the majorca bread is really delicious. Service is much better at the counter than the tables.
It is what it is. An old building in old San Juan. This joint is sparse with mismatched chairs. It feels mostly clean, we had to wipe down our tables though. Everyone here is on island time, so don't expect quick service. Our waiter tried to be funny but seemed rather rude.
The group ordered their well known mallorcan sandwich, which was just ok. They could have been hotter and actually melted the cheese. I was sick so I had their chicken soup, it was meh...
Overall we can check this joint off our list.
The breakfast sandwiches were genuinely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and well put together. Coffee was solid too, definitely a strong start to the day.
That said, the skirt steak was a miss — tough and lacking in flavor, not something I’d recommend. Also, the place is in serious need of renovation. It has potential and a certain charm, but the wear and tear is hard to ignore.
