Cafe Maspero offers a mix of experiences, with some patrons enjoying the large portions and friendly service while others found the food lacking. The historic structure adds charm to the atmosphere, complemented by good cocktails but sometimes uninteresting food. Some highlight dishes include the fried seafood platters, gulf fish, hush puppies, shrimp po boy, and alligator bits. While some reviewers praised the efficient service and comforting meals like calamari or Classic Benedict, others noted issues with cold coffee or slow service. Overall, Cafe Maspero seems to be a hit-or-miss spot where visitors can enjoy New Orleans delicacies in a casual setting.
We loved this restaurant right in the heart of the French quarter. It had several selections that were not your regular New Orleans dishes. This was very helpful for our party since some people had a very specific diet restrictions. Very friendly staff and accommodating
We had lunch on a Monday with a baby. The staff was very friendly. Talked with us and played with the baby a bunch. It has been storming out all day, and we were soaked with a wagon and umbrellas. They were very accommodating to all of it.
I had the pasta jambalaya and my wife had the chicken sandwich. Both were very well cooked, excellent flavor and very large portions. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the different food, styles, tastes and what goes well with the other. Our baby ate the pasta off of my plate, and we still had a ton of food left on my plate.
We would return in a heartbeat of we weren't 12 hours away. Great place, highly recommended.
We decided to try Cafe Maspero for breakfast while in New Orleans.
It was delicious. Ours was great & all the plates that I saw go by looked amazing too! Fun atmosphere & decor. They are open & serving all day & evenings. Wow!
We had a wonderful experience at Cafe Maspero. The service was amazingly friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely perfect. We had the New Orleans muffuletta, roast beef poboy, and the stuffed fish. Also, if you get fries upgrade them to Primo, they are fire!!
Good feel of New Orleans. Service was good, but not super attentive. The food was great! I loved the muffaletta, I was not disappointed. My husband got a jambalaya pasta and it was also very good
