Really enjoyed the one course lunch. Salmon & haddock fishcake, wilted spinach and poached egg, served with a glass of house wine. Great value at £10.95p.
Lovely restaurant, great food but just a little more thought ought to go into table arrangements for larger groups.
There were only 14 of us and the restaurant was not busy but I found the service to be very slow. Our waiter tried his hardest and I can't imagine how the service would have been if the restaurant had been busy.
Having said all of that the French onion soup was absolutely delicious. My fish stew wasn't the best I'd ever had but it was comparable. The depth of the flavours made the dish lip smacking, I'd definitely choose it again.
I didn't have dessert but those who did said that they were all very good.
It was my friend's birthday and I wish that they had made just a little bit of fuss of her.
All in all a lovely meal was had by all.
Arrived 4 pm Sunday afternoon. Quite empty but started to fill up a little at 6 pm. Plenty of table space and a nice bar area to sit and have a drink if you arrived at a busy time and had to wait for your table. Good food cooked well but nothing overly special. We chose the special lunch time and early dinner menu. Good choice but portions small, still at £11.50 for 2 courses is good value. No accompaniments to any of the meals..such as bread with the muscle starter and mushrooms or tomatoes with the steak frites. These came as extras. Chef also declined to cook muscles without the cream for a diary intolerant but he did offer a new dish of muscles Provençal. Reasonably priced wines and selection quite good. Staff friendly. Another criticism, service charge an added extra to the bill. Clean toilets, child friendly, wheel chair accessible
