La Casa del Chef is a hidden gem in Ponce, offering mouth-watering food with exceptional sauces and delightful desserts. The cozy interior, friendly service, and ample parking make it a must-visit spot near Ponce. Reviewers rave about the mofongo con ajillo, steak medallions with red wine sauce, and tres leches dessert. The attentive staff helps navigate the extensive menu that includes seafood, steaks, traditional dishes like arañitas de plátano and Steak Diane. While some mention high prices on certain items, overall, the experience is highly recommended for its delicious cuisine and welcoming atmosphere.
We were visiting Ponce with family. We found the restaurant through Google Map and decided to go in and try it. The waiter was very attentive to us at the entrance. The appetizers and soups were exquisite. The food was tasty, exceeding all of our expectations. From the rodaballo filet, steak filet with onions, mofongo with grouper, chicken fingers, churrasco with mofongo, and fried pork meat. The dessert was also delicious. Definitely, I recommend this place and will return when I have a next visit to Ponce. I congratulate the waiter and another employee who assisted us so that we had a spectacular dinner.
It was quiet and cute inside. The food was cooked to perfection and delicious. I had the mixed mofongo with seafood and it was the best ever. The sweetness and the salty was perfect. The sangria had the right amount of sweetness.
Food was OK and took a long time. Service was "meh." Would not likely dine here again given the choice.
We were in the area attending a funeral and this place was highly rated "top 5" by a travel-related site. Wait staff were initially attentive to take the order and then wandered off - never checking back. I ordered the sauteed chicken and mamposteao rice. Others in my party ordered the grilled snapper with tostones. The fish was tasty. The chicken and the rice were salty. The tostones were dry ( as of previously frozen). Cocktails were average.
Pictures shown are part of the decor. It seems to have been a Don Quijote themed restaurant at some point.
Arrived 10/4/23 mid afternoon after the Don Q Rum Tour. This was by far the best meal we had in Puerto Rico. Everything was so good and we even took some food to go. Great food, great service, it was all around a great experience. Not to mention the best Mofongo we had during our whole trip. We will definitely be back when we are in Puerto Rico.
Very good restaurant! Delicious food, good presentation, and very prompt, attentive and helpful service. Our waiter was super helpful with picking out dishes to try - they have a rather large menu with seafood, stakes, traditional food, etc. Everything we ate was good. We had various appetizers (really liked the fried cheese), octopus salad, churrasco steak, French onion, and ham and potato soups. Would definitively come back the next time we're in the area!
