Cultural center
Cité du Vin is a cutting-edge wine museum housed in a striking curved aluminum and glass structure in Bordeaux. It offers interactive displays, guided tours, and tastings to educate visitors about the history and production of wine globally. The museum's modern design reflects the swirling motion of both the adjacent Garonne River and wine in a glass. With themed routes and multimedia exhibits, it explores wine's impact on history, geography, culture, and civilization.
Very interesting if you're into wine. Talks about cultivation, history, biology, cultural significance. The tasting room was limited but a tasting was included and the views were great. 22 a person and we spent almost four hours there.

Very interesting and informative exposition. It took us around 4h to really see all of it. A lot of information about history of wine, types and how to taste wine. Glass of wine at the top of the tower (with balcony) in the price of the ticket ( if you are planning to see more museums and use the public transport it is good to get Bordeaux Pass).

Cité du Vin – A Must-Visit in Bordeaux City Cité du Vin is a destination you simply shouldn’t miss when visiting Bordeaux. As a modern wine museum, it offers a unique and immersive way to explore the world of wine—its history, culture, and influence across different civilizations. It makes learning about wine not only accessible but genuinely fun. The exhibitions are engaging and interactive, offering insights not just into French wine history, but also fascinating stories from wine cultures around the world. There are plenty of hands-on activities throughout, making it an enjoyable experience for all ages. With your entry ticket, you can even exchange it for a drink—wine or juice—at the top floor bar, where you’ll enjoy your sip with a beautiful panoramic view of Bordeaux. A perfect way to end your visit!

A world class museum, brings wine making to life! Sensory exhibits as well as highly informative wine making processes and historical interpretations. Not to be missed, and a decent glass of wine upstairs with a view from the tower included!
Barton L — Google review
A great way to learn and understand where the vines and wine came from. A full part dedicated to history, wine making, spreading. Aromas and tasting await you. Go and spend a few hours and you leave knowing more about wine and its origins. Finish the tour with a tasting on the top of the building enjoying a view of the city!
Jim M — Google review
This was a fun museum! Easy to navigate and easy to get to from Bordeaux city center via the city tram system. The interactive displays were educational and interactive. We particularly enjoyed the various scent educational exhibits. The observation deck on the 8th floor with wine tasting is an additional bonus. Very friendly multilingual staff.
UberDumpling — Google review
A wonderful museum dedicated to everything related to wine. It is an interactive, self guided, tour over how grapes are grown, harvested, made into wine. It has the history of wine and the 5 senses of wine tasting. This is a good place to get a sample of various wines in France and around the world.
C N — Google review
Well worth a visit when in Bordeaux. The wine history is interactive and detailed. You can spend some time here exploring, then enjoy a wine on the 8th floor or a meal at the restaurant. Wine cellar and shop with lots of interesting products available

Shopping
Marché des Capucins, located in Bordeaux, France, is a long-established market known for its local produce, cheese, wine, and prepared foods. This bustling marketplace offers a wide variety of items including fresh baked pastries, locally sourced products, and French delicacies. Visitors can explore the stalls to find an array of options such as freshly sliced cheese and family-produced wines.
I would very highly recommend visiting in the middle of a busy session. We went on a Sunday morning and walked through the hustle and bustle and found it delightful! If I lived anywhere nearby this would be an at least weekly trip! So much fresh food and produce! The variety of things to eat and try were also outstanding. I got some goodies from the fruits and olives vendor and was super happy with their patience and attention to details.

Fantastic local market in Bordeaux. Wonderful fresh produce and interesting snacks to buy. Unfortunately, it was a public holiday, so not everything was open, but still enjoyed it. We bought strawberries, fish, cheeses, and other fruit and vegetables
Melinda C — Google review
Good place for early risers to check out a local market. Good selection of raw seafood, meats and even good wine and pastry. Easy walking from our Airbnb
Fook-Main H — Google review
Amazing melons and lovely vegetables. Plenty of Stalls to eat quality food
Maria T — Google review
Very upscale market, fun for a walk around but might get expensive if you’re actually buying things! Looks like quality produce and goods though.
E L — Google review
Interesting market with plenty of amazing local produce, cheeses and cold cuts, butchers and fish mongers. We thought it would be bigger or other types of vendors around too. But seeing so much local produce did not disappoint!
Tash P — Google review
Impressive market with lots to offer. It is under a roof and seems to have a parking deck on top of it? The stands are packed in and quite large. The smells and sights of the fresh foods overwhelm the senses. Lots of seafood, fresh veggies, bread, cheeses, meats, and even some stands selling household goods, etc. on the outskirts. We went on a Friday and it was fairly crowded, but I imagine it to be bustling on the weekend. There are a few bars/restaurants in each quadrant as well.
Kevin M — Google review
Wonderful market of fresh vegetables, flowers, fish and meat. Not crowded and plenty of places to eat which are clean and delightful. This is a compact market and not as large as one would expect from a city the size of Bordeaux.

Nestled in the heart of Bordeaux, Grosse Cloche, or "Big Bell," is a captivating historical landmark that dates back to the 15th century. This impressive bell and clock tower was originally part of the city's medieval fortifications and served as an alarm system for fires. Weighing an astonishing 7.75 tons, the bell rings on special occasions like Remembrance Day and Fete Nationale, echoing stories from centuries past.
“Large Clock” as it’s called is a towering gate from old Bordeaux. Amazing architecture that has withstand the test of time. Definitely worth visiting while in old town Bordeaux.
Alan — Google review
This is a imposing bell tower located along Rue St. James in Bordeaux. Built in the 15th-century and originally an entrance into the city and part of the medieval wall around Bordeaux, the tower previously served as a dungeon and was given its present 7 tonne clock in 1775. Worth a look-see if passing through this area.
Brad — Google review
A beautiful bell tower and gate from the old city wall of Bordeaux. The bell is seldom used now but the tower and the gate remain. A great place to visit.
C N — Google review
Beautiful monument. One of the oldest surviving gates in Bordeaux. The street that leads to the gate is full of cute shops and restaurants. Check both sides of the gate.
Juliana M — Google review
We happened upon this area in the evening and the Grosse is very impressive at night with the lights and lively little streets. A must see in Bordeaux and if you can visit in the evening, even better.
Michelle B — Google review
The architecture of the Grosse Cloche is impressive! The Church of Saint Eloi is right next to it, there you can learn about the city and the church history. The surrounding streets are very lively, with great restaurants and bars, making this one of the best places to visit in Bordeaux.

Sights & Landmarks
Pey Berland Tower is a 15th-century Gothic bell tower located in the historic neighborhood of Pey-Berland, near the Cathedrale Saint-Andre. Visitors can climb 233 spiral stairs to reach the top and enjoy panoramic views of Bordeaux. The area surrounding the tower is rich in history and culture, with nearby museums like Musee d'Aquitaine and Musee des Beaux-Arts, as well as charming cafes, boutiques, and art galleries.
The view in the top of the tower is beautiful, the ticket is 9€ but it's on the first Sunday of each month. In my opinion, this is one of those thing you need to do before leaving Bordeaux (And you will do good exercise by the way 😅)
Luis Q — Google review
Interesting climb and information at the second level. Could see much of the city and another beautiful view of the church next door. I hate heights but took in the wonderful view anyway. Quite a workout as it is 9 stories straight up a spiral staircase to the first tier, then another few to the top. Stairs are a bit uneven, but ok if you take your time and be careful.
Jason P — Google review
Astonishing view of the city! The 233 stairs are totally worth it, you get to see the main monuments of Bordeaux. There are two viewpoints and in the first one you can see the bell. We went on a cloudy day but it's still amazing. I recommend to buy they tickets in advance
Josue M — Google review
Stunning views from the top. The climb is quite an effort at over 200 steps, but if you can manage it, it's so worth it. Just fantastic.
Oliver T — Google review
This is the bell tower that is separate to the main St. Andrea Cathedral at Place Pey-Berland. It was constructed during the 15th-century and stands 66 metres in height. Like the cathedral it is Flamboyant Gothic in architectural style. At the top of the steeple there is a gilded figure of Mary with Christ. This was added in 1863. You can enjoy viewing Tour Pey-Barland from numerous positions with the square on the east side of the cathedral. If interested, it is also possible to enter (€9 per adult), climb the 233 steps and enjoy panoramic views of the city from the bell tower terraces.
Brad — Google review
You should definitely go to the top. 203 steps but it isn't that difficult and well worth the climb. You will have fantastic views of Bordeaux from all directions and get a birds eye view of the church.
Michelle B — Google review
The Pey Berland Tower in Bordeaux offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the cityscape that is truly worth the climb. The ascent provides a unique perspective on Bordeaux's architectural beauty and surrounding landscapes. However, it's worth noting that the stairway leading to the top is quite narrow, which may pose a challenge for those less comfortable with confined spaces. Despite the narrow stairs, the unparalleled views from the tower make the experience memorable and offer a fascinating glimpse into the historical and contemporary charm of Bordeaux.
Zongle — Google review
Ready to climb up the 233 steps of the helical stairs leading up to one of the most spectacular views on Bordeaux? This is the place to be!! For a small price you get to see the biggest bells in the belltower (one of 8 tons and heavier than the bells in the cathedral), the most beautiful views and history of this beautiful city on top of it. Really friendly welcoming!

Symbiose is a trendy restaurant and bar in Bordeaux run by young entrepreneurs. The menu, which changes weekly, features dishes like monkfish medallions with watercress coulis, miso-lacquered eggplant, a cheese course with mimolette and pave of the Pyrenees, and dark chocolate whiskey torte with Chantilly cream.
Great place! I went there to have a few drinks and had a great time, awesome cocktails and a large variety of spirits! I had japanese whisky
Ramiro D — Google review
The food was outstanding—both creative and flavorful. For me, the highlights were the sweetbreads and the steak tartare. Given that it's in Bordeaux, I had anticipated a broader selection of local wines by the glass, though perhaps that's not the focus here. As for the service, my wine order was forgotten, which is something I haven't experienced in quite some time. Nevertheless, this place has great potential and is an excellent spot overall.
Alan B — Google review
Excellent chef. Creative plates. We were grateful to have the menu on the phone to try to figure out what we were eating. The Erika cocktail was exceptional. I've Never tasted anything like that. The (red) wine was served too cold and the list was disappointing considering the food quality. The speakeasy in the back is a joke. The grandfather clock just blocks the sight from the street and somewhat separates the dining area from the bar. Annoying reservation policy with an 80 euro charge for cancellation or no show.
Sam M — Google review
Amazing and creative food. Very well presented and I like the risks they take choosing different ingredients. Their cocktails were very well selected too, they know what they are doing. Very affordable price for the high quality and standards that they deliver. Highly recommended this place.

We recently dined at Symbiose in Bordeaux and had an amazing experience. The meal was a 10/10, with the shared antipasto platter being a standout. Every item was local and fresh, leaving us very satisfied. Both our mains and desserts were enjoyed. This restaurant is definitely one of the best, with their magnificent cocktails adding to the experience. For warmer months, I would highly recommend sitting outside, although the inside is also beautiful.

La Tupina is a rustic-chic restaurant in Bordeaux that offers refined Southwestern comfort food. The bistro, opened 40 years ago by Jean-Pierre Xiradakis, prides itself on using locally sourced produce from the best local producers and cooking dishes that suit the season. The restaurant's menu features unique dishes such as sanguette for lunch and lamproie a la Bordelaise for dinner, providing an authentic taste of the region.
Went in hungry, left very full. Had zero expectations but it had a special old school vibe. The decor, the open fire, the duck fat, the snacks, the main course...all so wholesome and moody. I loved it. Expect meat. If you are in Bordeaux, this is definitely a MUST try place.
Nik T — Google review
Unbelievable experience at La Tupina. A hedonistic experience to say the least. Amazing selection of meats cooked over open fire. Frites cooked in duck fat. Not a meal for the faint of heart to be sure. There is a fish option but with stunning selection of Beef, Chicken, Lamb and Sweetbreads why would you? Have a different meal for fish. Really. Everything was executed to perfection and after a week in Bordeaux this was the greatest meal of the whole week. The kitchen had no misses. Would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bordeaux and it is now on my "must visit" list for next time.
Antonio G — Google review
Came here because our friend is a fan of Rick Stein, and this open-fire dinning restaurant has been recommended in one of his programmes. The food was fantastic, cooked in kind of primordial cooking style. The service was brilliant, the staff were friendly and chatting with customers, they answered every question we had for their dishes, feeling so nice to be in relaxed, friendly atmosphere! It’s really something we did not expect we would experience in this city Bordeaux, and it’s definitely worth to visiting.

We liked the good French food, the impeccable service and the old fashioned place. We did not appreciate at all that they tried to rip us off when paying. We had reserved a set menu at 115 EUR per person, but the bill mentioned twice 155 EUR. Luckily enough, even after some wine, I spotted the tentative fraud.
Christian K — Google review
Fabulous meal in wonderful surroundings. Chef Franck Audu really looked after us, as did the front of house staff, especially Saliou! My Crème d'asperges, Œuf parfait, Copeaux d'Ossau Iraty was fabulous, as was my duck! We were so well looked after, had a wonderful table near the fire. Everything was delicious & we were spoilt rotten!! 100% recommend!
Debbie ( — Google review
La Tupina never disappoints! The venue inside is cosy and authentic and the terrace seating is relaxed and elegant. The team are always warm, professional and very accommodating. This time, we had a bottle of wine and 2 perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned chateaubriand beef fillets. Best frites in France also. We can’t wait to go back!
Lucy B — Google review
This is some very good, simple food. We ordered the chicken (just okay but the duck fat chips were SO good), the duck (very delicious, but needed salt), the vegetarian (so pretty to look at), and the traditional pasta (absolutely outstanding). Very unassuming and a nice time. We tried the wine of the week and the month and they were also delightful.

Restaurant
Le Cent 33 is a sought-after restaurant located in the trendy Chartons district of Bordeaux. Chef Fabien Beaufour curates an ever-evolving menu using top-quality produce from trusted suppliers, offering dishes like soft crab with coconut milk and lemon balm or roasted deer loin with beetroots and blackberries. Influenced by his international culinary experience, Beaufour incorporates a Japanese robata into many of his creations.
I enjoyed a wonderful chef experience at cent 33 in Bordeaux. Chef Fabian prepares an amazing culinary experience. I chose the experience option with wine paring to completely enjoy the pairing of food. The langoustine was moist and a surprise dish. The octopus was sensational crisp and fried chewy and tasty. The scallops served with a broth that included caviar was unusually and tasty. The duck breast with the lavender crust and was done right send delicious. The wine accompaniment was necessary for the full experience. I was only in Bordeau for two nights and wanted to experience a Michelin inspired restaurant. The fois gras was parented in an orance shape. The staff especially Lukas was informative and the wine connoisseur was helpful in describing the tasting notes and choice of wines. At the end the coffee liquor was created in house with special Ingredients and a great ending to the neal. I was fully satisfied . I hope you enjoy it as much as I did :)

Le Cent 33 in Bordeaux offers an exceptional dining experience. The cuisine is outstanding, with each dish showcasing meticulous preparation and exquisite flavors. The wine pairings are thoughtfully selected, complementing the menu beautifully. The service is attentive and professional, enhancing the overall experience. However, during my visit, I noticed that some staff members had noticeable body odor, which detracted from the otherwise pleasant atmosphere. Addressing this issue would elevate the dining experience to match the high standards of the food and service.
Magee C — Google review
Absolutely impeccable experience from start to finish. The menu is a real delight for the senses -- taste, texture, scents, and gorgeous visual presentation down to the silverware used -- and the service was top notch. Cannot recommend enough, and the lunch menu is a fantastic value for those wanting to spend a smaller budget.
Lydia D — Google review
We loved everything! The knowledgeable and passionate staff, the chef that came out to chat and obviously the food and wine selection. The sommeliers gave us great recommendations that fit our taste and they did have wine options for all kinds of budgets. The food was delish and while creative, the pairings weren't too crazy. We did the 4-course menu and had a truly enjoyable evening.
Sonja W — Google review
Everything was great, and the food was delicious. The only thing that spoiled the dinner was a mistake on the bill—the waiter charged for a much more expensive champagne than the one we ordered. We weren’t sure whether it was an accident or done on purpose. So, a piece of advice: check your bill carefully before paying.
Pavel — Google review
Excellent food, nice atmosphere. A 'must visit' when you are in Bordeaux (and appreciate fine dining).
Peter W — Google review
My wife and I were recommended this fine establishment and we had a gift voucher to use. We went with their six course ‘experience’ tasting menu and we were not disappointed. It was absolutely delicious. There were two appetiser courses in advance of the six courses, as well as additional palette cleansers and an after dinner drink. The six courses included just one meat based course, a new sweetbread course. The other five courses were mostly seafood and vegetarian based. The food was incredibly experimental and finely executed. The staff were extremely helpful in their guidance and wine recommendations. We were the last table to leave the restaurant and we enjoyed a quick chat with the chef before leaving. Would definitely recommend.

Reply to store:First of all, thank you to the store for the quick reply! However, my questions have not been answered or resolved. 1. The waiter served in a hurry and impatiently. Instead of changing the tableware, he threw the tableware aside in a hurry, causing the sauce on the plate to fall onto the tablecloth and onto the cuff of my right hand. 2. The first glass of rosé champagne before the meal was served in a red wine glass instead of a champagne glass, which was slightly unprofessional. 3. Because the waiter kept urging us to leave quickly, at least half of the entire bottle of wine we ordered, which cost more than 100 euros, was left with no time to finish it, which was wasted. 4. The waiter’s introduction was very fast, and he left in a hurry before I could hear him clearly or ask questions (my headphones did not play the audio, which did not affect my hearing). The Taiwanese waiter was not in charge of our table, but only occasionally came to help with questions. 5. The taxi driver sent me to the wrong address, and then we took a long detour to get to the restaurant, so we paid double the fare. On the way, I called the restaurant to explain the problem: the driver drove me to the wrong address. late for traveling Original: I have been in France for more than a week. I guess after comparing the service in other French restaurants, I feel that the service in this restaurant is not very good. 1. First of all, not only did they not change the cutlery after each dish, they also threw my fork and spoon directly on the table, leaving the sauce on the tablecloth (other French restaurants will replace new knives and forks for every dish) 2. Several local waiters were in a hurry when they introduced it. They finished speaking quickly and hurriedly walked away before being heard clearly. Fortunately, there was a Taiwanese waiter who introduced again carefully (otherwise, he would have received zero points for service). 3. There seemed to be air leakage in the window seat. I felt a little cold after eating and suddenly had a stomachache. However, the blond waiter asked me three times if I wanted to order more coffee and tea. Fortunately, the Taiwanese waiter poured me some hot water and it made me feel better. 4. We ordered a whole bottle of wine but had half a bottle left. The waiter rushed us to leave. He asked us three times if we wanted coffee and hurriedly took away our plates from the table. 5. Our first glass of champagne was given by the waiter in an ordinary red wine glass... He did not change the champagne glass... He did not pay much attention to details. The overall food is okay, but there is no harm without comparison. Compared with the Son' Oftheson and Le 428 that I ate a few days ago, the per capita consumption was only a little over 60 euros, but the experience and service were very good. Today, two people ate at this restaurant for 393 euros, but The experience was very bad. Fortunately, there was a Taiwanese waiter who was very enthusiastic and patient enough to introduce the dishes to us and bring us clothes when we went out. Otherwise, I would be extremely disappointed!

Brasserie
Brasserie Bordelaise is a beloved institution in Bordeaux, offering an intimate setting and classic dishes from Southwest France. The restaurant's vaulted wine cellar adds to its charm, attracting businessmen, friends, lovers, and families alike.
I have tried one of their signature dishes: Slow Cooked Ox Cheek in Red Wine Sauce. It was just mind blowing. The meat was perfectly cooked. The red wine sauce was full of various flavors. The restaurant provided some bread & tinned meat which was also very delicious with the red wine. As a desert, I tried Creme Brulee which was also good. Definitely, try this place if you are in Bordeaux.

Very quick but friendly service and solid food. I neither get the super positive reviews nor the tourist trap comments. It is a solid bistro with prices that match the location. The meat was of good quality, the salad garnish generous, the side veggies tasty. The fries soso. The wine choice by glas was actually much better than on the menu available online.

I ate the t bone steak, although it was good cooked somehow there was a strange taste on it (maybe burnt or because of the salt? can’t tell) My partner chose the casserole dish and not happy with it at all. Although we did a reservation in advance, the table was uneven and very small, uncomfortable, we had to sit next to each other and not facing each other. The service was okay but not the friendliest.

Good service (although management was rushing us). Nice local house wine. The Cassoulet was truly SPECTACULAR! Don't miss it! The Oysters are OK. You will find them better. The Frites are good. But again the beef (rib eye, sirloin) not great (low quality although flavorful). The Flank was better! Nice ambiance but they want to limit the time in a table of 7 to two hours while they take their sweet time themselves to serve. The Crème Brûlée is good and the Apple Pie is awesome. We appreciate the excellent floor service.

Le Bouchon Bordelais is a cozy bistro located in the heart of Bordeaux, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Chef Frederic Vigouroux's popular restaurant features rich, meat-oriented regional dishes paired with Bordeaux wines. The menu is market-driven and changes seasonally to showcase the best local products. Diners can enjoy a variety of dishes, from chilled pea-and-watercress soup to lamb bayaldi with pecorino.
Dinner at Le Bouchon Bordelais was probably the highlight of our recent stay in Bordeaux. We had the 43€ menu with 4 courses and 2 glasses of wine each. (There is a vegetarian menu btw.) Everything was like a small work of art, and the veal in particular was melt-in-your-mouth tender. Extremely delicious without being pretentious. If you're going to semi-splurge on one meal, this would be an excellent choice.
