American restaurant
Woody's River Roo is a laid-back riverside spot offering classic American dishes and cocktails in a relaxed beachy setting with a tiki bar and live music. Nestled on the north side of the Manatee River, this long-standing establishment provides a quintessential Florida dining experience with favorites like coconut shrimp, grouper bites, and colorful tropical drinks.
We love Woody's River Roo! I would describe it as a local bar and grill with great views and amazing seafood. The service is always fast and everyone is so nice! There typically seems to be live music, but there is seating away from the band if you don't like the music too loud. It's a perfect place if you just want to hang out with friends and enjoy some great seafood in a very casual atmosphere.

Was initially going to go to Whiskey Joe's but was turned away by a 2 hour wait. But this was a blessing in disguise as we discovered Woody's River Roo and had a great time with the family. The live Rock band were fantastic. Seating is first come first served, no reservation accepted. Food was pretty good. The calamari were crunchy but pretty flavorless if I'm honest. The fish and chips were better, excellent batter and generous portion. I'll probably try the seafood boil next time but it's typical American seafood done simply. Service was great considering how packed the place was. Parking wasn't too bad either. Will definitely be back with the family.

Everything was wonderful! I will definitely come back. They also have an adorable gift shop with good quality shirts and some funny sayings as well as patriotic shirts, which I love. I bought a shirt, a bracelet made of recycled fishing nets, and a homemade dog treat. You can go wrong when you try them out. 10/10

I recently had our work Christmas Party at Woodys. I had it catered by them and thry did an outstanding job. We had great service, food and presentation. We brought our own desserts and they accommodated space for us to add them as well. Wendy Ames was the manager who put this all together for us and I highly recommend them for any occasion!

Super fast, friendly service! Wait staff was great with a sense of humor! Food and drinks came quick and made our trip worth it! Fantastic atmosphere! Can't wait to come back again! Thank you!

This is not our first visit, but it is my first review of Woody’s. Raven was our server/bartender. He was very attentive. We sat outside. The service was excellent. The drinks were delicious and the view, well, can’t get much better than waterfront. I had the Woody’s Philly and it was kind of bland for my taste. My wife had the Key West Bowl and she loved it. Food was out fast and it was fresh and hot. Would have been 5 stars if the Philly had a little more flavor. We will be back.

Sits overlooking the river. Parked on the grass across the street. Live singer making the place extremely loud. Hard to have a conversation. Open air restaurant. Honky tonk type of vibe. A little above average prices. Had the tacos but meat looked like the typical bags u can buy at sams club pre made. Nothing special in menu options. Not my kind of place really, was just visiting.

The waitress was great, the food was good, with a great waterview. The band was good a little loud for my taste. But they have tables that we could have gotten further away

Seafood restaurant
Nestled in the charming town of Ellenton, Anna Maria Oyster Bar is a delightful family-friendly restaurant that specializes in serving fresh oysters and a variety of seafood dishes. With its casual atmosphere and inviting outdoor seating, it’s an ideal spot for families to gather and enjoy delicious meals together. The eatery captures the essence of coastal dining with its simple yet welcoming decor, making it perfect for both locals and visitors alike.
After spending the day at the Florida State Fair in Tampa, my fiancé and I decided to stop by Anna Maria Oyster Bar in Ellenton—and we’re so glad we did! We ordered fried oysters, French fries, and cheese grits, and everything was absolutely delicious. The oysters were fried to perfection, crispy on the outside yet tender and flavorful inside. The cheese grits were just the way I like them—nice and thick—and the fries were a great complement to the meal. Even better, our food arrived quickly and fresh. Our waitress, Lilly, was fantastic, providing friendly and attentive service. We also appreciated how the rest of the staff greeted us warmly as we walked through the restaurant. It’s little details like that that make a place feel extra welcoming. The restaurant itself was clean and well-kept, including the bathrooms, which is always a big plus. Anna Maria Oyster Bar now has four locations, and after this experience, I’d definitely visit again. If you’re in the Ellenton area and craving fresh seafood with great service, this spot is a must-try!

Oysters were tasty and on special for $1.99/each during happy hour. Swordfish portion was small and could have used some oomph. Cobia with roma tomatoes and white wine sauce was excellent and decent portion size. Service was friendly and stopped by the table often. Key lime cake very dessert was smooth and not too tangy.

Very fun place and perfect for the whole family. Menu is great with lots of choices for the whole family. Very clean and well maintained inside and the staff are super friendly and fast. The Fish & Chips were AMAZING, great flavor, tender and cooked just right. Lobster bisque was just next level! They have paper towels hanging from the ceiling for easy access, so fun!!! Overall a great place, highly recommended and will definitely return myself!

Food was not bad, soup was unfortunately over-salted, cocktail too sweet as if one syrup there. The place itself is interesting but needs renovation at least on the street , first visited it 5 years ago and since then nothing has changed .

I’ve been coming here with my Grandparents since I was a little girl. I loved coming in and getting measured (penny per inch under 10 on Sundays) and I was so happy to see the dolphin is still there. It’s been many years, and sadly my Grandparents are gone but we are driving to the Keys and I knew I wanted to stop and have dinner here to see if it was still as magical as I remembered. The answer is yes. It still has a small diner feel, with a great menu, so clean, fresh food and a large bar, great patio seating option, and the food was delicious. There use to be a funny sign about mother in laws and loose women- that my Grandpa would chuckle about every time, I didn’t see it anymore as I’m sure it wasn’t pc enough but all the rest of it felt just like coming home. I love the garlic and parm oysters. My grandma never missed out on getting the Grandma Georgie style and Grandpa swore by the oysters rock. Tonight I enjoyed the lobster bisque, the peel and each shrimp, cilantro and lime rice, my guy had fish and chips, and we shared the peanut butter chocolate pie. They had a really great special for prime rib, but with being in Florida we try to stick to seafood. The server was friendly and attentive but what I really enjoyed was listening to management tell several of the bus guys and waiters how good they were doing and helping them stay on top of things with the dinner rush. It doesn’t get more family style then Anna Maria, but this kind of family is the healthy one you can’t wait to go home to at Christmas 🥰 Thank you Anna Maria Oyster Bar for being everything I remembered and more from my childhood.

All the food was very good and the prices were reasonable. To sa the service was slow would be an understatement. We tried to be patient as they said 4 people didn't show for work. Enjoyed the meal and drinks until I was charged full price for the raw oysters instead of the happy hour prices. I'd come back for the food, the rest was disappointing.

First timers. Meet some cool people. Bar tenders were amazing. My New husband loves the oysters Food and drinks on point!. I didnt eat my main course. My quesadillas are top shelf. But look the next day, it's still amazing. Bread crunchy and soft. We are coming back!!! Thanks Justin!

Barbecue restaurant
Catering food and drink supplier
Hickory Hollow is a family-owned restaurant that has been serving delicious East Carolina-style BBQ and seafood since 1984. While they offer traditional-style BBQ with a tomato-based sauce, their specialty lies in their East-Carolina style BBQ. Located on Highway 301 N. in Ellenton, the restaurant is known for its eastern North Carolina-style pork, fried catfish, and exceptional sides like deep-fried corn on the cob.
I chose the pork barbecue plate and St. Louis ribs along with a side of coleslaw and mac & cheese. The meat fell off the bones with the ribs. The pork barbecue just melted in your mouth. The coleslaw was good, but didn’t have too much flavor. The mac & cheese didn’t have a lot of cheesiness but it was still good. Service was fast, and everyone super friendly. Atmosphere is fun and they have an outdoor area as well as indoor. As soon as you open the door you smell the lovely smokiness. Definitely recommend coming here. Lots of combos to choose from.

If you’re looking for some good ol’ home town food and feel…look no further than Hickory Hollow. The food was delicious, atmosphere took me back to my childhood (tables, chairs and small bowls) and our server, Dawn was sassy and sweet! Dawn recommended the crab cakes and they did not disappoint. For the mains we had baby back ribs, St. Louis Style ribs, pulled BBQ chicken and garlic BBQ beef. All were scrumptious. For sides we had baked beans, Mac n cheese, new tots and coleslaw. So good. We even got another side of the slaw to go! Two corn fritters came with our meal. Fried but light, flaky and TASTEE! I’ve never had them before but they had me coming back for more. Prior to leaving we told Dawn we were visiting from Wisconsin and had a couple hour drive ahead of us. She proceeded to give us refills on our sodas and remind us to use the bathrooms before hitting the road. Thanks mom! When making the drive south from Orlando be sure to stop in and visit Dawn at Hickory Hollow for great food and a good time! Thank you, Dawn for giving us a piece of “home” and laughter while on the road.

Had been wanting to try this place for a while and it didn't disappoint. Loved the Brunswick Stew, served really hot (as it should be). Excellent smoked chicken, cooked just right. Pork a little dry but good-tasting as well. Had squash with cheese for the first time ever at the suggestion of the waitress... very interesting. Friendly service, laid-back atmosphere with fun decor. Would definitely come back.

Great food and good portions. The pulled pork was very moist and flavorful. The collards were good. I was not a fan of the slaw or mac & cheese.

Very homemade local BBQ place. The hush puppies aka corn fritters are to die for. They offer traditional aka sweet and Carolina style which is more vinegar based than sweet . The au ju style mashed potatoes come with a gravy that was vinegar based and something my companions did not care for. If you do like that I'm sure it's quite good. The fresh brewed ice tea is quite good and they serve in large cups. I Wi-Fi required a password so I did not try it.

Update I just stopped by on a trip to Myakka, and the food is just as good as ever! Only change is now they are only open Wed through Saturday. Still, great! Awesome barbecue. Go out on a limb and try the Eastern North Carolina barbecue. Their traditional stuff is good, but they really shine with the plain, shredded pork where you add the vinegar based sauce. I know how that sounds, but trust me... You will love it. The veggies are all fresh, that's the point behind the list they bring to the table. If it doesn't look good when they go to buy it, they pull it off the list.

Decent menu, clean and good service. I like the wide side selections. The fried okra is great. Kids love their kids menu

Italian restaurant
Tiramisu Ristorante Italiano is a delightful family-owned eatery nestled in the Magic Mile Plaza, having opened its doors in November 2014. This charming spot offers a casual atmosphere perfect for families and friends looking to indulge in classic Italian cuisine. Diners rave about the generous portions of dishes like Tagliatelle Bolognaise, spaghetti and meatballs, and stuffed ravioli, all prepared with care and bursting with flavor.
Unassuming restaurant behind Dairy Queen. Don't be fooled! One of the best Italian restaurants we've been to - in Florida and in Italy. Their homemade pasta and sauces are fantastic. A lot of people come for the big cheese wheel pasta. It's fun and delicious. I prefer tomato based sauces. Their specials are always delicious. Large wine selection. Make reservations. It gets busy.

What a gem! Phenomenal food and service. The staff have a wonderfully positive energy. The food was fresh and seriously amazing, I had spaghetti mare mare and the calamari had the perfect snap. I definitely recommend this spot for awesome Italian food. And they have wine from Puglia, my favorite!!

Lovely independent local Italian joint. The food wash fresh and delicious. You absolutely need to try their pasta from the cheese wheel, it's addicting! Service was absolutely on point and personable. You're sleeping on this if you're from around Bradenton or Sarasota and you haven't been here yet!

I live close to a mom and pop upscale Italian restaurant in Gulfport (FL) and they set the bar very high, from food to service to atmosphere. With that said, Tiramisu Ristorante was pretty good. We made 5:45 reservations and our table was set and waiting upon our arrival. Wait staff was kind and enthusiastic, and I believe most were Italian. (?) Our food was very good. Nothing life-changing but good. We had the cheese wheel, which was interesting and tasty. They play Italian music during birthday singing. It would be a nice addition to the experience if they kept Italian music playing as guests are dining. One room is definitely cozier, with dimmed lighting and cozier aesthetics. We were lucky to be seated in the cozy room. Overall, it was a good experienced. I do feel it was overpriced a bit, but a good experience.

Famous actor spotted! We saw a famous actor from the 70s-90s here who lives in the area. Our waiter told us he comes all the time so you know this is a good place to eat. (Out of privacy respect for the actor, I’d rather not say who he is). All I can say is wow! The food is fantastic, like being invited into an authentic Italian feast with friends. The owner and staff seated us without reservations (which I now highly recommended due to the popularity and small size of restaurant). The fresh bread was spectacular, calamari tender, and pasta fresh and flavorful. Will definitely love to return next we’re in the area. Pictured are penne pasta with sausage and asparagus, eggplant parmigiana with spaghetti.

I always considered this is a very nice place to go for special dinners. Unfortunately my last visit will most likely be my last visit. I took my best friend there for her birthday. Since neither of us had ever ordered the cheese wheel we decided to give it a try. To say we were sorely disappointed is an understatement. I had made reservations on line and when we got there they had no record of it. It was quite chilly in the restaurant and our meal got cold extremely quickly. Nothing worse than a cold cheese dish! I really dislike posting a negative review but this is not McDonald's and the cost is on the high side; especially for what is supposed to be a upscale establishment. We will not go back.

It was all around a very good experience. We came with another couple. Tagliatelle Bolognaise, spaghetti and meatballs, stuffed ravioli, and the Parmigiano pasta special were ordered up. All of the meals were described as great to excellent. The tableside prep of the special was fun, and the finished product was excellent. Portion size was huge! Sorry I missed pictures of dessert, but the Gelato was really good. The atmosphere was nothing special. It was simple, and this kept the focus on the food. The restaurant is a little pricey for me, but the experience was as promised.

Honestly some of the best Italian food I have had in the States. I had the lasagna and it was perfect. My mom got the wheel pasta, and although the show was great while making it, the taste blew it out of the water. If you like authentic Italian, or wonder how different it can be from commercialized Italian, definitely go here!

Speaks Clam Bar - Italian & Seafood - Lakewood Ranch is a vibrant eatery that offers classic Italian entrees, seafood dishes, and cocktails in a contemporary setting. The restaurant is known for its amazing homemade pasta and accommodating staff who are willing to customize dishes upon request. Happy hour specials are available before 6pm, and the service is outstanding. The food quality is good overall, with standout items like the lobster and shrimp lasagna and hot buttered rolls.
We had a wonderful dinner with great service. The hostess greeted up by opening the door and then promptly sat us at a nice table inside. We ordered and did not have to wait too long before it was served. I had the chicken parmigiana while my husband had their bone in Veal dinner special. Both were excellent. I highly recommend dining here for some great authentic Italian cuisine.

We had Calamari, Shrimp Scampi Linguine, Spaghetti with Meatballs, and Chicken Parmesan. The food was fair, but Chicken Parmesan was tasty. Their dinner bread is fresh and delicious. The service was nice. The location and parking were very good.

Walked in on a Wednesday evening without a reservation for 2 and were seated immediately in a sweet end table near a window. Hostesses and all server staff were very kind and responsive. Fresh warm bread brought to the table with olive oil and balsamic to dab the bread in…yum! We enjoyed two small house salads before our entrées of Parmesan-encrusted cod and chicken marsala. The marsala was delightful. The pasta was cooked perfectly, al dente. The Tuscan Chianti by the glass was a perfect accompaniment. Will definitely be back!!

I have visited 2 times, both for dinner on a Saturday evening. Reservations are recommended, and there is a happy hour that goes to 6 pm. Our party all had various dishes, apps and dessert. Everyone was happy with their food, and portions are good sized. Don't let the name fool you, they have a great selection of Italian dishes, steaks, and seafood. Staff was always pleasant and responsive. Prices are reasonable. I highly recommend Speaks for great casual dining experience! And, the tiramisu was pretty delicious!

Had an awesome New Year’s Eve dinner out with all my girls, three gens, mom, wife and daughter. They had a bunch of party favors out for everybody to take for NYE, hats horns, beads, etc. We eat here infrequently, but has always been good. No different, this time. Good drinks, wine, apps and entrees. The Fountain of youth, Mexican Mule, Lavender Lexy Spritz and Smoked Old Fashioned were mixed well. We like eggplant Napoleon app. The lobster bisque with meat added was great, as were the clams oreganato. The Branzino filet was cooked perfectly and worth getting again. A lot of flavor, slightly crisp on top, but really moist inside. The others were also good, clam linguine, Grouper Oscar and shrimp and scallop pasta extra garlic, Bam!! 🤪
FL C — Google review
Shrimp scampi looked amazing. Didn't love the homemade linguine. A touch too aldente for me. Shrimp was cooked perfectly but it just lacked a little flavor overall. Maybe I needed some red pepper flake? Garlicky smell. Bread , meh. Mozz sticks were huge for sure. But the breading was way too thick for me , was different than anything I had before in that regard. Choice of 3 sauces was nice ! I would try it again for sure , and order other things. And a cocktail 🍸 Service was so so. She was peppy but didn't come back to clear plates and refill water ... Food runner didn't take our dirty plates from apps.
