Opera house
Museums
The Central City Opera House is a historic 550-seat venue that showcases both traditional and progressive opera productions. Built in 1878, the stone-based structure was designed by Denver architect Robert S. Roeschlab and features stunning trompe l'oeil murals painted by San Francisco artist John C. Massman. The opera house hosts three annual productions and also offers an artists' training program for emerging opera singers.
Very enjoyable play and everyone working there was very helpful. About 45 mins before the play, you can attend an informative outtake of the play across the street. There is parking up the road for $15, which is worth it since this town is built on a hill. Is not ADA complicate and lots of steps. Call ahead it you want the best seating if you're in a wheelchair. Entrance for wheelchairs are on the right side of the building. Enjoy

I visited Central City as a kid. I didn't go back for the casinos though. The information center and the old court building made the trip worthwhile. I do wish it was more like my memories from my childhood. Still, it is a lovely place.

Old west town still looks authentic. It's a beautiful casino on the first floor, kids arcade on the second and a restaurant on the third. Other buildings are only casinos and maybe two restaurants. I love coming here once a month. Higher elevation than Denver, you could be out of breath walking about four inclined blocks of this town.

2024 production of “the Pirates of Penzance“ was excellent! The full orchestra was note-perfect and well balanced, staging and direction was snappy and very funny, and cast was superb. What struck me as most outstanding, however, was the chorus. I’ve heard many productions of this show, and this production had the best chorus I’ve experienced(although I would have preferred more alto in the balance), with crystal-clear diction and full volume. It’s possible that the acoustics in the hall are above average and contributed to the sound.

This was one of the most amazing places I've ever been and not a bad seat in the house!! The shows this summer were the most incredibly professional shows ever and I highly recommend this Opera House and events to any and all!

First time visiting the Central City Opera and I was blown away by the production values and the amazing actors! The venue was like being transported into the grand days of the American West. Highly recommended.

We went for the opening night of the season and the Yellow Rose Ball. The CC Opera House is an enchanting piece of Colorado history and is absolutely worth a visit for a taste of culture and history. Don't forget to stop by the Teller House to take a look at the "Face on the Barroom Floor."

With over 1,250 slot machines, various table games including Bonus Craps, and 22 poker tables on its casino floor, guests can enjoy a thrilling gaming experience.
I am going back a little bit but I have the best experience here and I enjoy the indoor pools on the roof and the spa is a good time I get the tacos there too. I definitely need to go back soon. The staff is helpful and the room was clean

This place is Definitely a must stay!! We first visited this casino on a poker trip... The group and myself were more than satisfied with the rooms, property, and staff. We had a great time playing some poker for a few days(some ups and some downs of course), but hey...That's poker!! The poker room was very nice and open...but yet still secluded just enough from the rest of the casino. I actually like the layout of this poker room! Along with the many options of properties you have within walking distance from here...We enjoyed every bit of our time. We will definitely return!

Attention to detail and cleanliness of rooms could use some improvement. The spa is nice and the staff there are professional the gaming floor is average at best. The fireside restaurant is good. They should do more promotions for guests staying in the hotel.

The room was nice and the shower worked well. The ice machine on our floor wasn't working that was a little frustrating. My wife and I were there on vacation, I didn't appreciate the maid service trying to clean our room at 8:15 in the morning. They didn't knock they just tried to use their key.

Not What It Use To Be. My wife and I have been coming to Ameristar for 12 years. 12 years ago it had a very Grand feel about it. The rooms were always professionally kept. The Service staff was very professional, and the restaurant was just as professional. We recent stayed for a Saturday to Sunday stay and ate at the Fireside Grill. We were greeted by the hostess who asked how many, and when I told her 8 people she decided I wasn't telling the truth and verbally counted the party to confirm. Just call me a liar or don't ask the question to begin with. We stayed the night and we were awoken by the Housekeeping manager (Sunday Morning) who had the audacity to open our room door and announce House Keeping! When we informed her at 8:43am that we were still sleeping (check out is at 11am), she stated that we needed to hang a Do Not Disturb sign on our door! Are you kidding me!? My last complaint is how dated the rooms have become, and the fact that we paid $300 per room, and the soap was out in the shower the following morning. It's time for a change. There's a brand new location down the street called the Monarch, or go across the street to the Lodge.
Dan C — Google review
Went here for the 1st time in years yesterday. Got a player card and was told that if we played enough to earn 200 points before 1159pm, we would get a free room to be used in the next 30 days. We asked how it worked, and were SPECIFICALLY TOLD that it "would just show up on your account". That's it, that's all we were told. We played, did ok, up, down, but did earn about 250 points by 11pm. Awesome, free room next time! Not so fast... When I went back to customer service the next morning to inquire, I was told if I didn't print a certificate at a kiosk before 1159pm the previous night, I don't get the room. What!? Not 1 person mentioned this to us or we would have simply followed their instructions and got our certificate. In a VERY, VERY rude manner, I was basically called an idiot for not knowing this 'requirement', and told "there's nothing we can do, if you failed to print it, it's gone forever" and literally turned their backs on me. Total disrespect. Total scam in not giving us the whole story in an obvious effort to not comp rooms that we earned. I even snapped a picture of their own marketing within the casino, and it too HAS NO MENTION OF PRINTING ANYTHING OR DOING ANYTHING EXCEPT EARNING THE 200 POINTS TO GET A FREE ROOM! When I showed it to the supposed 'manager' she basically said they're not legally required to disclose all requirements...which right there tells us all that they knowingly give half the information to guests with the preconceived plan of limiting any actual comped rooms. Nice way to treat people. Not that we're big time gamblers, but several hotels in Vegas are more than happy to comp us rooms for several days at a time without question. And there's no printing there, it's just "on your account" like I was told here. Terrible customer service, terrible people, terrible policies. And on a night when there were maybe 100 people in the casino or the hotel, and they can't honor their offer to simply comp a silly room is insane. Don't they want people gambling? Isn't that their business model? Get people in the door? Well, not us, never again.

Drove 8 hours for a vacation here after it was highly recommended by several people. Every time it was brought up it was always the same response. It’s beautiful there you have to go stay there if you go to Colorado. We got there checked in for the room, only 1 guy working the but he got us in fast. Dropped our stuff off and went straight to the restaurant. Server was rude, asked if we can be seated on the other side with a different server aa we sat there trying to get their attention to place the rest of our order. Instead we were met with more rude comments as they walked by. 25 minutes later we never got our food (burgers and fries) and the last person in our party had still not ordered anything because the server would not come over no matter how many times we asked. If it was busy it would be different. 12 people total in the restaurant and we have 4 in our party. Finally asked the lady the sat us to cancel our order we were leaving. Our server who was ignoring us the whole time chased us down in the casino to tell security we didn’t pay for our food followed with the restaurant manager. We explained what happened and the manager said that might be just how she does things. The 4 of us all work in casinos and know that is not how you treat people. He told us we won’t have to pay for the food. The food we never got and the food we didnt have a chance to order. Asked if there was a host or a M.O.D. to talk to. Security said they would be right there, nobody showed up. Besides that incident our vacation was amazing. Didn’t gamble there a whole lot since that was the way we were treated, went elsewhere to eat and play.

The rooms are beautiful, the pool isn't too deep for kids and the hot tubs are great. Vending machine food is questionable, but the jinya ramen is sooo good, and the Fireside Salmon toast is delicious

Our third stop on our tour de casino, did not disappoint. The casino floor is incredibly clean for the traffic of people coming in and out. Great selection of newer and older machines. The woman who helped us get cards was really nice. Answered all our questions with a smile.

The place has been here forever! The food at lucilles upstairs has great munchies! They have a huge selection of slots here but no more table games. I remember playing blackjack here back in the day, but now all they got is slots. Blazing 7's is still my favorite machine. Check this place out if you're in town. Get your munchies cured at lucilles you'll be happy you did.

Been here 3 weeks now. I am in hotels over 300 days a year. This is the cleanest hotel room I have ever stayed at. I was greatted by freindly staff and even a welcome bag in my room. I love this hotel. Great location for easy access to freeway yet quiet enough to get rest. Every employee goes above and beyond to make this truly your home away from home.

I went in recently to play only to find out my Debit card did not work at the ATM. I asked guest service to assist, and they proceeded to charge me a transaction fee of $20 dollars to take money out when the ATM fee was far less, knowing full well I was going to spend the money in their casino. When I protested they simply stated "this is the transaction your doing". Nice. There's far too much competition in Black Hawk, and Central City to be gouged for a common transaction.

I have been playing at the Gilpin Casino and its sister property, Lodge Casino, for over five years with a friend. Recently, I had the good fortune to win a couple of big jackpots. However, it seems that the Gilpin and Lodge casinos do not appreciate winners. I received a letter stating that I am trespassed from both properties, and no reason was provided. Interestingly, my friend was not trespassed. The only difference between us is that I won a couple of jackpots, while he did not. It appears that the Gilpin and Lodge Casinos are not truly supportive of their players, despite their players club being named the "Winners Club." Perhaps they should consider renaming it the "Losers Club," as winning seems to be a reason for being banned.

Nestled within the vibrant Ameristar Casino in Black Hawk, Timberline Grill is a true gem that beautifully showcases Colorado's craftsmanship. With its stunning reclaimed timber walls and intricately carved wooden bar, the ambiance feels like a cozy retreat in the Rockies. The menu boasts an impressive array of dishes, from sizzling Alaskan Halibut to perfectly roasted prime rib, all enjoyed by a warm fire that enhances the dining experience.
Made reservations for a birthday dinner. Only place in town with availability during Thanksgiving weekend. We were given a private room. The service was great. The food delicious. Everyone had steaks perfectly cooked. We shared sides. All was great. Upscale environment. Dress was business casual, food was pricey. We did steaks shared sides (sides are meant to be shared) had drinks and dessert. Averaged $80-$90 per person.

Waiter was very nice but you could tell he also didn’t give a shit. I ordered a $50 chicken that tasted descent but I don’t know if it was how the potatoes were seasoned or if it was the nasty orange puréed but it ruined everything. The taste of it completely killed my appetite and i saved my appetite for this dinner. I didn’t eat a single thing all day and still couldn’t even finish a quarter of it. They assume since it’s fancy that it’s worth it and I swear I would have rather starved tonight then waist that money. Rip off

We ate dinner here the last two evenings. Last evening Jessica was our server and she was fantastic, attentive and friendly. We had oysters and shared the seafood sampler with Caesar salad. That was phenomenal. The seafood was a little disappointing as it was frozen solid. We used the butter warmers to get thawed enough to eat so it ended well. This evening we ordered a wedge salad, well it was a salad but definitely not any kind of wedge. The tomatoes had 2 rotten ones :-( unexpectedly one went into and immediately out of a mouth. The salad was a few romaine leafs with the normal fixings you would expect. The Filet was tasty for sure but presentation was lacking! We had to ask multiple times for butter, crackers, little forks, etc... the server tonight was KK. Slow, not friendly, I'd would not say rude but curt seems to fit. In the end the crab was delicious. Definitely lost the luster of what this establishment once was. Hopefully it is just an off night.

Great food and great service. Prices are a little high but you get what you pay for. I had the bison tomahawk chop and it was phenomenal! It was a great cut of meat and perfectly cooked at medium rare. At the suggestion of our server, I added the lobster Oscar which was a great call. Others in my party had the prime rib and a couple of filets. Everyone was happy with what they had ordered. Our server, KK, was very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. I will definitely ask to sit in his section whenever I go back.

Worst dining experience I’ve ever had in my life! This place does not even deserve one star. Horrible food. Waited over 30 mins for drinks and never asked if we wanted to order more. Ordered a filet mignon medium and it was still purple and blue sent it back and it came out within a minute and only the outside was cooked middle still cold. Talked to the manager and she was very rude didn't offer to help and was very confrontational just wanted to argue instead of fixing the problem. Also waited 30 mins past a reservation time. When you are spending 250+ you expect good service and this place is not it. Baked potato was absolutely disgusting and inedible. Overall very disappointed and dissatisfied. Would never recommend this place to anyone. DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON THIS PLACE!

Recent improvements in management have enhanced the overall dining experience, with attentive service and delicious food such as Wagu Steak, Lobster, and Chicken Alfredo.
Like many people, I swung by the Gilpin to grab a bite at Lucille Malone's because of it's interesting history. The staff was great and the food and drinks were priced perfect! Would have no issues going back.

If I could give this restaurant 0 stars I would. We started by waiting over an hour for food to come out. Once it came out, the food was ice cold. We let them know after taking a bite of prime rib and they put the meat back into the au ju that was in the back after taking a bite and let us know that.(completely unsanitary and disgusting). The meatloaf was also ice cold. However, the banana pudding was great. This was just the food. The staff was also rude. The only good part about our experience was the bartender down at the casino who was the only friendly one in the building. If I were you I’d take my money and eat bar food at a different casino as the bar food tasted better than what looked like was a nice restaurant.

After a day of casino hopping we decided to drop in for dinner. Seated right away, friendly waiter, good menu, we were both happy with our meals and even happier with our bill. Without a doubt the best and cheapest meal of our trip.

One of the worse days. Playing at my favorite casino and be presented with this nasty food. I ordered a cesar salad, and right after I wanted to order my so thought delicious meal. When I tried to order, I was told new rules are you can only order one entree. I was not aware my salad was an entree???? The waiter didn’t care if I was aware or not. So then I ordered my chicken wings, uncooked, fried to reflect hell, and when cutting through it, blood was gushing out ugghhh… nasty. Do not recommend this place at all. And the salad, well … you can just see from the actual pics.

I have no clue why people have rated this place so high! It literally is one of the saddest restaurants as far as ambiance. Upon entry, the carpet alone made me want to follow Lucille herself right off the second story balcony (will get to that at the end). Looking around the place at the customers, I felt like I was at a 1970 church revival. The menu was expansive, and the special was a $12.99 prime rib with two sides. I decided to go for it even though a prime rib should never be under $20-30 in my opinion or I will assume something is severely wrong with it. My friends reminded me it's a casino so they are trying to draw people in with cheap prices. Fair point. Speaking of friends they got the surf n turf and the hamburger. Listen. The prime rib was actually slightly better than the cheap price. My friends said the burger was "fine" and the surf n turf was "below average". Server was super nice and apologetic for the few things that he forgot and we had to remind him to grab for us. We took a piece of cheesecake for the road. As we were leaving, I asked my friends who Lucille Malone was I wonder, and the lady checking us out had the story. Lucille threw herself off the balcony after her man got run over by a wagon and died. And the lady let us go to the balcony where this happened! Lucille, honey, no man is worth jumping off this balcony for ... but that carpet ... oof maybe that's why she jumped. I'm basically giving this place two stars for the history alone! Oh, and the cheesecake when we go back home? Ugh no. Not good. Don't check it out, Blackhawk.

The steaks were stringy and tough. The lobsters 🦞 were overcooked and dried out. To many new staff members did not know the job very well. A few told me they were new and still learning the job.

Was seated and then never got service. Tables seated after received service. Multiple servers walked right past our and didn't even greet or acknowledge we were there. What was it about us that you all thought we didn't deserve to be waited on. We're regulars and locals, so I really don't understand the treatment. We left after 30+min of watching parties seated after us be waited on while we were ignored. Seriously what was it about my wife and I that warranted treating us lesser than others? Why did we deserve that level of discrimination? Called to speak with a manager, was connected with Dave, who immediately transfered me to a voice-mail without even listening to me. This was some horrible customer service.

Meanwhile, The Buffet at Monarch is an American-style restaurant that serves up delectable seafood and prime rib dishes.
It's been months since I've eaten here, but I still think about it almost every other day. Seriously good food. My wife and I came for our 1st anniversary and the experience was phenomenal. I love my steak blue rare and they cooked it perfectly for me. The béarnaise is decadent; the steaks are juicy; the there is an ample amount of good bread given to start; and--best of all--their crab legs are so succulent. Our server was fantastic as well--unfortunately I can't remember her name. The only negative commentary I have (if you'd even consider it 'negative') is that the presentation of their smoked old fashioned was a bit tacky. Bringing it out in a gilded cage filled with rosemary/thyme smoke is a bit over the top, and not in a cute way. As for the drink itself, it was fantastic! Like I said, the theatrics are just a bit cheesy. Your bartenders are great! Let the drink speak for itself.

What an experience! The food was amazing and really appreciated the gluten free options. The steaks we got were perfect and that bison carpaccio was divine. We were celebrating our anniversary and they went above and beyond with the rose petals and dessert! Highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion!
Ryan C — Google review
Let me start by saying the food here is absolutely delicious. If you’re dining in the main room, it’s a fantastic spot for date nights, gatherings, or casual meals. Whether you’re dressed to the nines or keeping it casual, you’ll feel perfectly at home. If you’re gluten-free, be sure to ask for their amazing gluten-free bread – it’s delicious and offered at no extra charge, which is a rare and thoughtful touch. Now, onto the reason for my review and why there are two stars missing. We’ve been coming to the Chophouse regularly since it opened. I started in the dining room but switched to the bar area years ago since I often dine alone. It didn’t take long for me to fall in love with the service Tyler and his team provided. They went above and beyond to learn guests’ names, preferences, and stories. No matter how you were dressed or who you were, you were treated with kindness and respect. Tyler was the best bartender I’ve ever encountered. His team, trained by him, matched his exceptional service and mixology skills. I often told others that the best drinks—both alcoholic and non-alcoholic—could be found right here. Unfortunately, a few months ago, new bar management caused Tyler and another incredible bartender, Tristan, to quit. I’ve visited several times since then, sitting both at the bar and in the bar lounge areas, and the difference is stark. The new team has been nothing short of disappointing. They’ve been openly dismissive of Tyler and Tristan, badmouthing them to long-time patrons and boasting about how they’ll “make everything better now that they’re gone.” However, what I’ve actually experienced is slow, clumsy service. One bartender spends more time showing off than making drinks efficiently, tossing bottles into the air (and upsetting guests) while often making a mess. He overmixes drinks, drinks the excess straight from the shaker, and brags about how good he is. I’ve seen him make drinks with Red Bull, chug the leftovers, and toss the can into the trash like a basketball. If you’re sitting in the bar’s lounge area, service is nearly non-existent. They seem to assume you’re just waiting for a dining room table, and getting anyone to come over is a challenge. When they do, service is painfully slow—not because they’re busy, but because they don’t want to waste effort on someone who might not tip well. The staff’s treatment of guests also seems to vary based on gender and perceived tipping potential, focusing their attention on those they assume will tip the most. I used to make a two-hour drive (one way) just to have dinner and drinks here, often driving home the same night. This time, even though I stayed at the hotel, I chose Taco Bell instead of the Chophouse—not because the food isn’t amazing, but because the experience has been ruined. When I do return, I’ll stick to the dining room, but my visits will be rare. The bar area, once my favorite spot to mingle and people-watch, has lost its charm. I’ve noticed it getting quieter and quieter—not just because of the season, but because of the new team. What used to be a vibrant hub where locals and tourists alike came for exceptional drinks and service has now become a disappointment. By driving out the best bartending team around, they’ve not only lost regulars like me but also missed out on substantial revenue. Unless things change, I can’t see the bar regaining its former glory.

We had the pleasure of celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary this weekend, every moment was exemplary from the initial greeting until the final plate was cleared. We have traveled the world & this is by FAR the BEST restaurant we have ever eaten at! The service, the food, the extra details…this restaurant is worth every single penny. We loved it so much we went back again!!! The house salad and French onion soup were delightful! Also, the steaks are unmatched. The whipped potatoes are legendary. Oh, and don’t skip the nitrogen gelato. The extra surprises from the chef was the icing on the cake. We will most definitely be back!!!!

The staff are amazing. Krystal, Dave, and Tristan were fabulous and made sure I really enjoyed my experience. My feedback would be on the seafood. I know it's Colorado but it was not fresh. I didn't even finish. I expressed to the staff and they seemed reluctant to get me a new one or take off my bill. I should have insisted but did not want to ruin my experience. It was beautifully presented but not fresh.

Fireside Kitchen, located inside Ameristar on the 2nd floor, is a popular choice for breakfast after a late night of gambling. Despite being busy, the waitstaff, particularly Misty, provide exceptional service. They are friendly and efficient in ensuring that food is served promptly and piping hot. The restaurant itself has a pleasant ambiance with dim lighting and it isn't noisy. The menu offers various options such as wings and burgers at reasonable prices without compromising on satisfaction.
Very early breakfast as needed coffee badly. (Coffeemaker in my room, inoperable.) A ruse for guests to go get coffee somewhere else?😉 Anyway, was glad I went as my breakfast of Chicken Fried Chicken was 👍. Only 👎 was how small the chicken PC was. It was smaller than the toast. Added bonus, the server, a female (will look for my receipt to acknowledge her by name), was very gracious and gave me great service. The ambiance is dark and woodsy, with fireplace to boot. Very warm and comfy ambiance.

I don’t like leaving poor reviews, but my husband and I had dinner here last night, and I was rather taken aback at the Chicken Parmesan that was served to me. I had to take a picture AND a video because I couldn’t believe they would serve this to anyone and am convinced that there was covert racism in play here. Not only was the chicken piece small, it was also undercooked. We called the server and asked if this was what their regular chicken parm looked like. She replied that she also was surprised at how small the piece was and that the dish didn’t ‘look right’; which brings up the question - if it didn’t look right, why did she bring it to us? Clearly she assumed we wouldn’t know that we were being served a sub par dish. Was this conveyed to the chef as well? She saw me take a picture and immediately offered to replace the dish for free, and even offered to add a dessert, which we appreciated, but it didn’t take away from the main issue. My husband and I are educated and informed professionals. And while we don’t wear our skin color on our sleeves, we do recognize racially motivated micro aggressions. The third picture was the replacement dish. Why did it look so different from the first one? Ameristar and Fireside Kitchen management- I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt that you are not aware of this kind of behavior from your staff, but I hope this will be addressed.

Tried this place for the second time and still disappointed. Took 20 minutes just for our waitress to come up and say “I’ll be right with you”. It is not busy In the restaurant at all. When she did finally come back we asked to put in our whole order (apps and entrees). 45 minutes for our app to come out and when our food came out at the hour mark my husband was disappointed in his $20 fish and chips.

Went here for breakfast - MISTAKE. Ordered the skillet with extra cheese. They sent it out with no cheese, a small portion of potatoes surrounded by gravy and green chile. It was like a stew. Not at all how a skillet should be done. Sent it back. It came back out with an old stale biscuit, cold eggs, a few shreds of cheese, cold bacon, and another small warm and soggy portion of potatoes. Disgusting. Sent it back and left.

Food was trash. They came out with dry and cold food. Waiters did not pay very much attention to us even when openly complaining about our disappointment with the quality of the food. Was also very disappointed that they add an automatic 20% tip with a group of 6 or more. The service and food that was provided does not deserve any tip at all. As the food price was already high enough for the trash that was served to us.

No one here checks up on us at all. It took 20+ mins to get our food which ended up being cold. I would NOT come again. The prices are way to high for the service we received. Please save your money and eat some where else. Edit : burger gave me a terrible stomach bug. New rating - 1 star.

The service and atmosphere and food were on par with expectations for an Ameristar restaurant.

I really wanted to liked the place. We had a dinner at the night we arrived and a breakfast in the next day. Due to COVID every other place is closed inside the hotel so you have a choice of either of Starbucks or this place. Fireside has great atmosphere this is true. We took pasta with added shrimps (it was really a WISE choice! So my advise is just add something to your pasta if you choose it as a main dish otherwise you will be disappointed. It had a lack of some ingredients mentioned in menu) and a stake for dinner. To be honest - when it became cool it tasted like a ham 🙈 on the breakfast we built an omelette on our choice so it was good. But cappuccino had some weird flavor and I was really disappointed. I am a coffee lover and expected a great one in the morning. I think that such a luxury hotel must have better restaurants food.

This restaurant is so very worth the drive! The service staff is umcomparable! Everyone is wonderful! The food is beyond amazing! Whomever this chef is... hands down, absolutely perfect food every time! I would LOVE to learn from this chef!! Go, try it! It's a little pricey but so very worth every penny! And the portions are HUGE!!

Best meal I have had in a long time. Hands down the best ribeye my husband and I have ever had. The service was incredible and the whole experience was fantastic. We will be coming up just for dinner.

Bistro Mariposa is a culinary gem nestled within the Monarch Casino Resort Spa, where the vibrant flavors of Mexican-Latin cuisine come alive. This bistro invites you on a delightful gastronomic journey through southwestern Baja, featuring an inventive menu that harmoniously blends fresh ingredients with high-end tequilas and local Colorado craft brews. The ambiance is equally captivating, showcasing stylish architectural elements that enhance your dining experience.
This is hands down the best Mexican food I have ever had! Currently, on Wednesday’s they do half off some appetizers and drinks!!! Everything is delish including the amazing Sangria they just added to their cocktails~ hope you take the beautiful drive up (or down) the canyon - whether you gamble or not… wether you do a day trip or stay the night- in my opinion… it is soo worth the trip! Also both the ambiance and the customer service is amazing!!!

Latin/Mexican restaurant at The Monarch Resort/ Casino. Great open concept restaurant with modern contemporary decor. Popular for tapas and small plates. Extensive tequila and mezcal selection but limited in the margarita menu. Went with a regular margarita and La Granada which has reposado tequila infused with pomegranates and blueberries, Pom liquor, triple sec, simple syrup, lime and Pom juice. It was good and refreshing. Tried the fry bread esquires which I highly recommend. Kind of like a flat churro as a base with roasted corn, mayo, chipotle, lime, and cortina cheese. Great combo of flavors. The main entrees were ok. Ordered the char broiled carne asada and marinated pork tacos. The tacos lacked flavor. The carne asada was ok but the topping was over oily. Live music started about midway through the meal and although the musicians were good they over powered the space.

The food was ok! The absolute best part of my entire stay at the Monarch was our server Dave’s care during my meal at the Bistro. Dave was kind, professional, knowledgeable, and didn’t hesitate when I asked some very specific questions. Dave is an absolute asset to the entire casino and I hope the Monarch treats him as well as he treats his guests. He 100% deserves a schedule that works for him and hopefully a raise!!? Service as Dave provided (to our large group) this evening is really hard to find. Thank you so much for your excellent care this evening, Dave! You’re awesome at your job. <3 T

There is a very nice Latin-Mexican cuisine vibe happening here. We went there as they were closing that's why the place looked pretty empty. Otherwise the food was good but not anything that blew my mind. The cocktails were solid and the atmosphere was definitely modern with a clean look. It's nice to know that when staying at the hotel or when gambling there is a place like this where you can go and unwind for the evening. * Extra bonus. I have to say that they have a killer all day happy hour on Wednesdays which is when we were there. All appetizers and drinks are half off. Yeah, you can't beat that peeps. If I'm back at Monarch I will probably be back there.

Bistro Miriposa is a welcome edition to the culinary offerings at the wonderful Monarch Casino. They have taken the space and provided a wonderful atmosphere with thoughtful and fashionable architectural and stylish design cues. But the real star of the show here is the food. We started with the street corn which was authentic and wonderful with just the right amount of flavorings and spices, then we moved on to the oysters although slightly smaller than average their flavor was sublime and delicious.I had the chicken fajitas and my wife had the salmon both were excellent, cooked properly and the salmon melted in your mouth. We had the churros with three delectable sauces for dessert and washed it down with several cold Mexican beers. I have to say the overall presentation and experience was outstanding the entire weight staff as well as our personal waiter went above and beyond to make this a memorable evening. In summation ,if you find yourself seeking a brief respite from the hectic casino and crowds this is the oasis you have been looking for.

Top Notch. Everything we had here was delicious. Fried fish comes with a side of black beans and rice, the black beans had a very good flavor, I was very impressed by how good the sides and salsas tasted. They use top shelve liquor in their drinks, so margaritass are nice and strong. This place is also very fancy looking and is great for a date night. The chef even comes out and talks to the guest and check on things. I can honestly say the food, service, and atmosphere is worth the price. We can't wait to come back.

Amazing Dinner while at Monarch Casino in Black Hawk. Must do the Fried Bread and Whole fish both exceeded expectations. Pork tacos and Chile Rellano also very good. Fried Ice Cream with Tequila soaked apple was to die for. Had 4 margaritas: spicy, pomegranate, pineapple and house. All very good but the pineapple apple as too sweet, more juice than we would prefer. Overall amazing experience at the Bar since we had no reservation on Saturday night. Highly Recommend

I was so excited to dine here to celebrate my birthday with loved ones. The restaurant is really nice so you’d expect the food and service to meet the same expectations. Unfortunately, it did not. Plating, menu options, price was fairly good BUT the food was super cold! The tortillas were so cold they seemed like they just threw them on the plate. All the meat was super cold! It truly had potential to be 5 stars if the food was HOT. You should be receiving HOT food if you pay that much for tacos or carne asada. We did address this to our server who was kind BUT the manager on duty didn’t care one bit. Instead, he brought us out one serving of churros to make up for my party of 10 cold meals. I didn’t even want a refund, I simply wanted them to at least offer to remake our food fresh. I even let the server touch our food to see how cold it was! Please don’t waste your time eating here unless you’re ok with terrible management and cold expensive food. The fast food joint at the Lodge Casino that sells chicken tenders and fries was 10/10 compared to this joke.

Mill City Chophouse and Bar in Blackhawk, CO is a relatively new establishment that has left a positive impression on many visitors. The atmosphere exudes an elegant charm with its mining town vibe. Guests have raved about the impeccable service and delicious food, particularly the steaks which are cooked to perfection. The table side service adds a fresh touch to the dining experience, while complimentary champagne and appetizers make special occasions even more memorable.
Amazing food. The atmosphere was fancy, with mining town charm. We started with the pork belly, which we both agreed was the best decision ever. The steaks were delicious and tender. Cooked to perfection. The filet was my favorite. The sides are really well done. I like the green beans especially. The service was excellent, we will be back!

Very nice atmosphere. Prompt service. I wouldn't know if food was good. The waitress wrote down the wrong order for me. By the time they made mine my fiance was done with his food and I was full from the salad and the potato. They still charged me full price.

I'm only giving 4 stars because we had to drive here from IL to be able to talk to a live person about our plans to have my daughter's wedding reception here in June. We had been calling since early Feb, leaving numerous messages on the automated system, with no return calls. Once here, we were very impressed with everything. We decided to sample the food while here & it was wonderful. We were presented with warm fresh baked oat & sunflower seed bread with two types of real butter; a plain & an herb. My daughter had the Sesame Encrusted Tuna appetizer; she said it was prepared perfectly. I had a bowl of Cream of Asparagus soup & the Chophouse salad; it was the perfect portion size for the price & very filling. The staff was very pleasant & helpful with our planning, offering seating suggestions & menu options. We are so excited to be having my daughter's reception here in June.

Not to sure about reviews from a year ago and beyond come from, this Chophouse has only been open 3mos. Back to the review this Chophouse in Blackhawk, CO was excellent. The food was spot on and the service impeccable. Had the table side service which was as fresh as you can get. Charles and the rest of the staff were so nice and gracious for a birthday we had at the table. Complimentary champagne and appetizer before dinner. After dinner a complimentary cake w/fresh berries that was enough for the table, and pastries in a bag for later. The restaurant manager (Dan?) was so nice as well checked on the tables thru out, and arranged a tour of the suites in the hotel. I have recommended to friends and family this is the place to go when in Blackhawk. Definitly will return.

My boyfriend surprised me with a beautiful weekend getaway. I had no idea, but it was all because he was planning a beautiful proposal. Everything was perfect! Minus this beyond horrible experience at the mill city chophouse. We started with the Valentine special "rockefeller oysters". That was almost amusing. It was as if the cook had no clue what rockefeller oysters even were. After returning that, we got our French onion soup. Sadly it was the best thing we had that entire meal. Then they brought out our "steaks". These were supposed to be fillets.....oh and they were 40$ each. My fiance ordered his rare but it came out well done. The color on them was that of a soft brown, you know when they sit in the fridge to long. The smell and taste was unbearable. If we wanted food poisoning we probably could of pushed through it!! If I could give this zero stars I would. Oh....and we still payed for the 40$ steaks!!

Great selections of upscale dining options. I started with the sesame encrusted tuna (wow, what a bargain and a meal itself). Had the chophouse salad with real blue cheese. The Aspen Filet was delicious and I added sides of mushrooms and broccoli. The sauce additions are well worth a try. They do an excellent job with these too. My partner had the double-cut pork chop and said it is better than Hillstone's in Cherry Creek. Now that's saying something! I'm getting that next time. The few bits I had of that were melt in your mouth watering delicious. Oh and the herb shrimp cocktail was outstanding as well. Make sure you get a lemon with that to put on the top.

Not a bar, they have no beer menu and what beer they do have is very limited. waiter is “questionable at BEST”. Food was good, according to my wife. 30 minutes later after eating we’re still waiting for our check with only a party of three in here.
