Sights & Landmarks
Hills & Dales Estate is a stunning 1916 neoclassical manor nestled in LaGrange, Georgia. The estate boasts 35 acres of breathtaking gardens, including a terraced garden, formal boxwood garden, and water lily garden. Visitors can explore the 13,000 square foot mansion on guided tours to learn about the influential Callaway family who once resided there.
Enjoyed seeing with my own eyes the beautiful gardens on the estate. The film is very poignant in understanding the three generations of families who loved and cultivated this beautiful estate. I look forward to witnessing the changing seasons as a member. A wonderful place to visit in Lagrange. Come and enjoy the magnificent trees and the splendor of the gardens.

This is a lovely home and garden that only ‘recently’ opened to the public (20 years ago 😜). The house is as it was lived in just a few decades ago and the grounds are well-maintained. I dropped a star due to the rule of no photos inside. The houses I like most allow a self guided option. Hopefully this one will follow suit as so many others have.

What an awesome place to visit. The staff were so very welcoming and knowledgeable. To begin the tour there was a short movie explaining the history of the Callaway family and the Hills & Dales Estate. The visitor center is a beautiful building with displays and history info. The tour guide who took on a 90 minute tour through the house did an excellent job of pointing out special features of the home. We could sense the love that had been put into this home for years. The gardens were also full of love and such a relaxing, beautiful place. You can purchase a ticket to just tour the gardens and if ever in the area again, we would consider doing that because it is so relaxing and beautiful. Thank you to all the staff at the Estate.

Beautiful place to tour in the spring! We did the house and garden tour. The docents are very kind and knowledgeable.

Our photo & video team had a wonderful time capturing these stunning wedding portraits at Hills & Dales! The property is so nicely manicured, it is not only beautiful in person, but is the perfect backdrop for photos! Rêver Weddings

I loved the tour of the gardens and house. Very informational and inspiring! Our group got a lot of answers to our questions.

Don't miss the opportunity if you're taking a tour through time. Wonderful place to visit if you're into antebellum homes. The house and gardens are so big if you want you can make a day out of it. There is a tour for the main home there is a video before you enjoy the tour. Then there are beautiful gardens to walk through. The staff were professional and friendly.
Capeman10 — Google review
While a large home, it is extremely personal and comfortable. It has many mansion features, but in in a way to make them comfortable rather than extravagant. The gardens are beautiful. Right now, they are fighting a boxwood blight problem closing parts of it. Even without thar area, it is a very nice garden. The greenhouse has orchids and many other nice plants well cared for.

I always feel welcomed by the exceptional staff here. They are helpful when needed while I am researching the collections.

The organization I work for took a large group of people with mental illness to visit this establishment today. The clients, as well as myself, truly enjoyed the exhibits. The museum was well kept, organized, and offered an overall great experience. Further, the staff were helpful. In particular, the director was very knowledgeable, gave intriguing insights into the exhibits, and even offered clients a scavenger hunt to keep them engaged. Would highly recommend!

Did a little day trip to Lagrange from Macon--enjoyed the town. The presentation of information and history displayed in the Legacy Museum on Main was awesome. Building is beautiful and well maintained. Well done Historical Society--well done indeed.

We’re excited to visit this museum site says open until 7 PM but the recording says they were already closed before 5 PM. Very disappointed. UPDATE: The museum contacted me and apologized that they had to close early that day. A staff member was ill and I’m sure it’s not easy to update hours on google when it is short notice and temporary. I’d love to try again someday but unsure when we will be back in the area. If we are ever close by we will definitely stop by. Thank you to the museum for your response!

Great history information. They have a presidential exhibit going on right now that was great with so much interesting information. We were there for hours reading it all.
Julie G — Google review
It’s an intimate museum, it had a lot of LaGrange/Georgia history packed in the main room. You can walk into another room, which had radio history. Wasn’t very impressed with it. That sums it up.

The Biblical History Center in LaGrange is a cultural museum that offers an immersive experience into the history of the Bible and ancient world. Visitors can explore authentic archaeological replicas, attend Biblical meal presentations, and engage in interactive experiences to gain insight into daily life in the ancient Middle East. The center also features the Time Tunnel, where worship practices of Pagans, Jews, and Christians are showcased through replicas of excavated houses of worship.
Amazing experience. You need to try the guided tour with the meal experience. Very thought provoking. The displays were awesome. If you can't afford to go to the holy Land, this is a great alternative. It insightful and full of practical knowledge that you miss out when just reading the scripture but this makes the culture, language, and many other nuances come to life
Emerson D — Google review
Went without a tour so keep this in mind. Rather expensive for a museum, paid $20 for one ticket. Not much to see and few if any items from the period. Everything is a replica and rather small selection. The only thing cool was outdoor section. The cashier lady was also a little rude. Not worth it, unless you're really religious, have money, and go as a tour.
Justin V — Google review
The most amazing experience from beginning to end. Our tour guide Emily was phenomenal and our experience was educational and will be treasured for years to come. We will definitely return for other events.
Lawana F — Google review
The tour guide was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and confident in his tour. Must say the artifacts on loan were a privilege to view. Meal is definitely not what we thought it would be, but definitely a good example of what a meal would have been like back in the days of Jesus . We thoroughly enjoyed everything from booking to the end of the tour. I do wish the garden was a better area.

This was an experience to behold. We had a large group of around 32 people from church and made plans to eat the Lords supper. It's very well worth the joy of hearing about some of the teachings. Thanks for the great experience.

Really nice exhibit space with wonderful artists on show. Amazing quilt works and other medium.

I don’t feel right reviewing it because I didn’t get to go in. Google said they were open so my wife and I drove 35 minutes to get there. We called before hand and no one answered. When we got there the door was open and a woman quickly approached us to tell us they’re closed to set up some sort of children’s show. So we left just to drive 35 minutes right back cause there’s nothing else we wanted to do in Lagrange.

Beautifully updated bldg--was once the jail. Featured artists were Lawrence J. Philip (creative with color) and Butch Anthony (quirky humor). Free admission with donations accepted. Don't pass up a chance to check out any artistic expression in this gorgeous bldg.
Brenda B — Google review
This is a great little place to visit. I went to see an exhibit of Frabel glass on loan from Atlanta. The glass pieces were amazing, with such attention to detail. Some were realistic while others were more "quirky." On sale were some in the shapes of ornaments. It would be great if this museum were larger in order to house more than one exhibit at a time, but perhaps that has happened previously. I will keep checking to see what new exhibits are being shown.

It's a solid regional art museum that varies between local exhibits and Georgia works of national interest. Great building, free parking, and friendly staff make it a worthwhile trip. Wheelchair accessibility is not too difficult, but do call ahead.

Been here several times and it never disappoints!! Jolene is such a sweetie!🐾🐶. UPDATE: Hosted A baby shower luncheon here and it was absolutely amazing! Silas was very patient with all my emails and questions. We had 14 women attend. Dylan, our server, was very attentive to us and very helpful! I highly recommend Nutwood Winery at Upper Big Springs Road for events!

This is the worst food, service, and “restaurant” I’ve ever eaten at. Honestly how does your food taste how your restaurant looks. Sad and miserable. Like a sad millennial beige baby. Please do not come here to eat, it’s not worth how much it cost. This place is HORRIBLE! Told me I couldn’t take out the salami out of the bread, just don’t put it in??? It’s an option??? Just don’t take your hands and put it in my bread. Anyways, trash next. Better off eating at McDonald’s. EW! Didn’t even eat actually just left.

What a beautiful winery! Small but a 5 star atmosphere! Great selection of wine and amazing full menu food! Sweet welcome from Jolene the winery doggie❤️
Melanie P — Google review
Clean establishment, friendly people. One of the largest wineries I've been to. Loved the live entertainment Wine tasting was very nice....definitely gave you enough to taste and enjoy. We also got the fruit and cheese platter, was plenty for 3 people. The prices were decent. Service was not the best. Yes, they were somewhat busy but we had to constantly find help...Otherwise we would still be waiting. The winery itself was very peaceful, quiet. Lots of picture opportunities Definitely will go back though.
Christine G — Google review
The wife and I were looking for something to do this past weekend and I found Nutwood Winery. It is a bit of a drive from our home, but well worth the trip. We sat outside, under the large shaded porch to enjoy nature and listen to the local musician play. Our server was Cade and he was fabulous! We ordered a tasting tree, with 5 different varieties of their wines. Word of advice, many of their wines have a very high alcohol content, so take that into consideration when you order. We had the Plantation Honey, Sarahs Strawberry, Jolene's White Muscadine, Aubreys Heritage Vine Sweet red and the most unique option, A Meeks Black Cherry slushie. I highly recommend the Plantation Honey and Jolene's White Muscadine. Above all else though, you have to try Aubreys Heritage Vine Sweet Red. Remember when I said some of the wines have a high alcohol content? They have a great selection of munchies, or a complete meal. We had the Mexican Trio appetizer. It was hard to pick just one. Next time, we will probably get an appetizer and a meal...so we can partake in more of this outstanding wine.
Joe M — Google review
This winery was, by far, my favorite winery and we’ve been visiting wineries since 1991. The food, the service and the atmosphere make you want to stay all day. The pimento cheese was so creamy and yummy, and the pork tenderloin sliders will make me disappointed in my next pork tenderloin it was so good. The servers were very knowledgeable regarding the wines. We left there feeling like our server, Cade was our best friend. If you want a place to hang out and stay a while, this is the winery for you.
Monica D — Google review
It is always a great experience here. The wine tree samples are great for trying several different kinds of wines. Also, they have a selection of local beers. The food is always delicious and looks great.

American restaurant
Charlie Joseph's Downtown is a historic eatery that has been serving up Southern-American favorites since 1920. This local gem is renowned for its world-famous hotdogs and deliciously-steamy soups, including traditional Brunswick stew, homemade chili, and vegetable soup.
Old timey nostalgia at its best! LaGrange is on our radar now after thoroughly enjoying Charlie Joseph's downtown. OMG!! THE HOTDOGS!! IT'S WORTH THE TRIP! We each had two hot dogs with different toppings: chili was sooo good, slaw just right, sauerkraut perfect, homemade pepper salsa scrumptious. Steven told us all about Cuz..his dear coworker who's surely looking down from heaven saying "don't change a thing"! I cannot fail to mention the ice cream sandwiches made from their homemade cookies and old timey ice cream..Good grief, we wished we had two stomachs! This eatery has us planning another excursion to LaGrange already. You can't go wrong and I suggest you go hungry...lol.

I stopped by after constantly hearing about this place during my business dealing at the local bank. I finally got a chance to see what the hype was all about and boy they didn’t disappoint. Everything was awesome! If you are in town please give them a try!! I’ll be back soon!
Jonathan C — Google review
Step back in time? Yea, thank you very much I think I will! Loved this little gem in downtown LaGrange. The hot dogs are excellent, reasonably priced (imagine that!!) and the atmosphere is cozy and nostalgic. By cozy, I mean it’s small. Sit at the counter if you can or in one of the small 2-toppers beside the bar. How rare to find a family run restaurant that has been in business for over 100 years. I dare say not much has changed-and that’s a good thing. We had the slaw dog and the kraut dog and highly recommend both. If you are in the area as stop here is a “must-do”.

This place is fantastic. Stopped here last year when I was in town, and loved it, so made a point of bringing my family here on our trip this year. My family loved it as much as me. Beyond highly recommended - I command you come to this place!

Lots of people here on arrival ordering at the sidewalk window. Many sharing that they are regulars aa they enjoy the price point, speed and hot dogs. We ordered hot dogs and they seemed standard. I tired the burger made fresh but not a recommendation. There is limited seating inside and some behind the building.

Southern restaurant (US)
Taste of Lemon Restaurant is a must-visit spot in LaGrange, Georgia, housed in a charming former church. This eatery specializes in Southern-style comfort food, offering the classic meat-and-three plates with a choice of two sides. The vegetable plate option is particularly popular, featuring a selection of six delicious veggies including favorites like mac and cheese, turnip greens, and creamed corn.
Quaint old church converted into a restaurant. Meals were priced reasonably, ample food served. I had the fried catfish, baked Mac and cheese, Broccoli Salad and Hush puppies. Our server was very personable and our meal came out relatively fast. Parking is limited. We went at 12:00 p.m. I would highly recommend.

The food was wonderful and the service was genuine. Very glad I was able to try this restaurant out. If you're in the area it is a welcome to the south style country cooking. Lots of love and thought put into each item we ate. Very affordable as well.

True Southern atmosphere and cooking. The Sherry chicken was so tender and tasty. We were a group of 11 and received great service. It was very busy and parking was a little bit of a challenge at 12:30 p.m. read reservations so there was no wait for our table.
Beverly L — Google review
My first time dining here. I walked in and sat on a bench waiting for my friend, no one asked if i needed to be seated or anything. I went to the cashier and asked should i just sit anywhere? She apologized and got me a waiter. He was attentive and friendly, gave his opinions and suggestions which was helpful. Ordered salmon croquettes, Mac n cheese, peas and yams. It came hot and portion size was ok. It was on the bland side for my taste but tasted fresh. Overall good experience and I'll be back to try something else from the menu.

Great true southern home cooking. This quaint little what looked like an old church was a great lunch stop on our travels. Everything was so flavorful and delicious. We will be back for sure when we pass through.

Unique, charming restaurant in La Grange. Definitely a wonderful experience with wonderful food and wonderful service. Would recommend to anyone who is in the area as it is a quaint, historic location. Delicious comfort food like someone’s grandma or mom made it, served on plates you’d eat off of at someone’s home. Will be back again.
Tammy C — Google review
The wait was not too bad. The food was good but a little salty. I had the baked chicken breast pieces with dressing, gravy, and turnips. The cornbread was tasty. The dressing was really good and well seasoned. The turnips might compare to Gloria's brand. I tried both the buttermilk pie and strawberry cobbler. They were both good, but I favor the strawberry cobbler. This place is worth another visit when looking to enjoy home made meals at a reasonable cost. My meal was under $20.00.

First time. We have wanted to eat here for a while. Finally able to arrive before 2pm. I ordered the Poppy Chicken with Mashed Potatoes and Mac n Cheese with Peach Cobbler for dessert. My wife ordered the Sherry Chicken with Green Beans and Turnip Greens with Peach Cobbler for dessert. Everything came out quickly and hot. I loved the portion size. Our server, Kaitlynn did a great job keeping our glasses full. This will be a treat for us in the future when we can get here early enough. This location is highly recommended!

In addition to tapas, flatbreads, and fresh pastas, Mare Sol also offers a delectable tomato bisque that has gained popularity. The restaurant boasts a full bar with over 15 crafted beers and provides special vegan menu options.
We came here while visiting Great Wolf Lodge. We arrived an hour before close and it was great service for our family of four. The host was nice and the server was very friendly. The food was fresh and tasty. I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap and it was spectacular. My husband had the chicken and avocado sandwich and green beans. Both of our kids had cheeseburgers. All of our food was so good. The fries were delicious too. We recommend this place and will hopefully be back!

The food was so good! The atmosphere and vibes were immaculate and just a good time overall. Definitely recommend the flatbread and clams pappardelle (photos attached). The staff was super friendly too!

The Brussel sprouts were the best. French onion soup was warm but not piping hot like one expects when you get soup on a cold night. The chicken on top of the tortellini was great. The tortellini tasted like it came from aldi’s. The Alfredo sauce was watery. That’s the first time I’ve ever had watery Alfredo. There were chunks of mozzarella with scattered Parmesan cheese on top. The steak salad was served cold and the dressing was definitely unusual. The atmosphere and service was great! Our waitress really was kind and knowledgeable!
Laura S — Google review
We made reservations for 6 at 6. When we arrived we were seated quickly and our drinks were ordered. The drinks came quickly and we ordered the bang shrimp and the spinach dip. When the waitress came by again we ordered our meal and the appetizers came out which was good. My son and his date to the prom had to be at the Country Club before 7:30. After waiting 30 minutes for our food, which was 6:45 or so, I asked the waitress about our food. She said it would be out shortly, soon after she brought out the chicken Parmesan which 3 people ordered. We had to get steak knives to cut the chicken it was so hard, and none of the 3 people liked it, then they brought out the grilled salmon that my wife ordered and we were told it came with rice with broccoli, it was like mush and she always orders salmon whenever we eat out and she didn’t like it at all, no seasoning, then the steak sandwich came out which I was told was good then after some time, my porkchop came and it was tough and the veggies that came with it I did not like, by this time we were in a rush so we had to leave. Definitely will not be going back due to the horrible food and really slow service.

Loved this place. Visiting LaGrange and trying to hit some of the popular spots. We enjoyed this place and C'sons next door which is apparently the same owners! both very good places. The salmon was delicious as was the steak salad.

Elegant eatery right downtown. Easily walking distance from anywhere DT. Great food and booze in a lively atmosphere. Lots of variety on the menu. Extensive beer and wine menu with a full bar as well. Lots of local favorites. The dining area is set up nicely with large booths for groups, small tables for date night and a nice bar for quick bites. Glad we stopped in here for dinner on our work trip. Highly recommend.
Michael H — Google review
Food tasted good but it seemed like they were understaffed when I was there. Ordered pasta and the serving seemed a little small for the price. If it included salad or bread with it, I would consider it more reasonably priced for the amount of food, but it was just a medium sized helping of chicken tortellini.

Located in the northeast corner of downtown at 110 Greenville Street, Gus's Grill is a popular breakfast spot with a Chicago-based menu infused with a Greek twist. The restaurant is known for its Signature Skillets, featuring layered breakfast potatoes loaded with various meat, cheese, and vegetable options topped with two eggs and served with buttered toast or a homemade buttermilk biscuit. Great people, great service. I told them to get me 2 random things they recommend. They have been spot on. I think the environment and the people making this place great. Any person in the area or traveling must try it out. Please note that we have been lucky, if we had arrived 20 minutes late we wouldn't have had a seat.

Everyone enjoyed the food, service, and experience. I had the cheesburger and tatar tots and both were very good. The burger wasn't complicated, just old style goodness. The tots were grease free and crisped just right. Tea was good too. The staff were friendly and very cheerful, like they were having the best day. Nice inside and full of customers on a Friday lunch time. Breakfast served all day. Big parking lot beside the establishment. I took a 14 ft motorcycle trailer in there, but there weren't too many cars parked inside that lot at the time. Only one entrance and exit, and it's a sharp right turn out. We just had to wait on a slow traffic moment. The prices were good as was the food and service, so we'll stop again.

Excellent, no frills diner. Pancakes and sausage were great. My wife had gyro omelet. Interesting take on a gyro. She enjoyed it. Our daughter enjoyed the French toast. There is not a lot of seating, but this is the perfect classic diner. A great spot to visit in Lagrange, at least for breakfast!

What an amazing gem! we have been looking for a diner type of atmosphere with wonderful breakfast and we found it here. It's not a fancy place but good home cooking is what you'll get. This is the best gyro meat I have had since I've been in the South. It's definitely homemade. The tzatziki is literally the best I have ever had. Everyone is extremely nice and it has a warm family friendly atmosphere. There is parking right on the side of the building.. I really enjoy myself and we will be back often!

I personally enjoyed the food, service, and experience. I had the Garbage Omelet, Fried fresh potatoes and Homemade Biscuit and all the food was pipeing hot and delicious. The burger wasn't complicated, just old style goodness. My friend and I stopped by as we were traveling to Newnan Georgia. First time we had ever eaten at Gus's. The staff were friendly and very cheerful, like they were having the best day. Nice inside and full of customers on a Friday lunch time. Breakfast served all day. The prices were good as was the food and service, so we'll stop again.

I've been having serious foodie withdrawals since moving back to the "deep" south. We went from 15 or so completely different local spots within walking distance to nothing in walking distance and most things spread out across town. So, it was nice to find a decent established local spot that everyone enjoys. Friendly service and the owner in the back whipping up dishes. Plates are not super fancy but flavors are done very well. The options are mostly sandwiches and salads. One of the only places in town to find a good Gyro. I opted for the Alpine mushroom bacon and Swiss burger with fries. We ate at the counter so it sort of felt like eating at an old school diner or soda fountain. That's just fine by me. Place closes up at 2pm, so if you got a hankering then hanker on over before then. You'll be pleasantly surprised. 🤓

Chef Tulla White's Shrimp and Scallop Fra Diavolo is a popular dish at Venucci's.
First time back in a while. Wow! The food is still amazing. The portions are very generous. And the service was stellar as anticipated. I had a salad with the tomato blue cheese dressing. So good! And then chicken parm is my go to and it was a huge portion so I was able to take some home and enjoy it all again. I’ll be back time and time again.

Amazing Italian food.Must try!! The server, Sarah, was super sweet and informative. The bread man was very courteous and kind. Service was amazing as well. The ONLY complaint I have is we did not have revelations and the hostess/take-out lady “huffed” and had to go check to see if we could be seated. There were plenty of tables available before AND after we sat. May not be the job for her, but other than that CHECK this establishment out!

I had this restaurant picked as a possible dine in after we finished at a day pass at Great Wolf Lodge. It's located less than 10mims away. Really nice quaint downtown Lagrange location. We went at around 530pm and we were greeted right away. Our server was Jayda. She was very informative and pleasant. Evwrything sounded amazing so we ordered the mussels, artichoke, and French onion soup as appetizers. The bread was ok that was probably the only thing not 5 stars. The dipping oil was delicious and flavorful. The fried artichoke was lightly fried with a delicious mouthwatering brown caper sauce...it was so good I would have asked to take the sauce home. The mussels were even more delicious. The sauce was perfect. The mussels were absolutely delicious. French onion soup was magnificent with the light broth that was full of flavor. Dinner...well dinner had a salad and when I asked which dressings Jayda said they have an in house dressing white balsamic..i fell in love with it that I bought 2 bottles to take home. Dinner...now i ordered the special that night which was a spicy red sauce with salmon spinach shrimp with angle hair and man...it was perfect. The salmon was perfectly cooked with a flake and a brown crust of blackened seasonings. The shrimp was delightful and the spinach was fresh and delicious. My son loves everything we had as well as an order of the kids pizza and chicken alfredo and we added mushrooms. His pasta was delicious I'd do it again over the pizza anytime. I'd highly recommend eating here if you are in the area. It's so worth it.

Beautiful little Italian Restaurant tucked into a storefront on Main Street. Delicious food and wine. Excellent service. Would have given 5 stars but my shrimp were over cooked. The scallops were perfectly cooked, not tough or gritty. My husband’s lamb chops and scallops were excellent.

The pasta meal sizes are huge. Easily could be shared between two people. Because of the plate size, I recommend the restaurant offer small plate options with reduce prices. Two people will easily spend $60+ for two plates and water. Venucci charges a 4% processing fee when paying with a card. Meal was good, parking is difficult on a weekend night.

Top notch all around! Young lady named Amanda was amazing. Full of energy and wonderful customer service. Beautiful! Haven't been here in years but will be coming back and telling others.

Delicious and large portions, an easy introduction to Italian cuisine. Delicious bread, olive oil, pastas and sauces. I especially enjoyed their Alfredo sauce. My only complaint is that the atmosphere is too dark for my subjective taste.

I didn't know what to expect trying this little Italian restaurant in Lagrange tonight. The outside has super cute tables with overhead lighting. When you walk in, it has an Italian feel to it, but could use a little face-lift on decor, lighting and overall ambiance inside. The staff were all incredible. Super friendly, interactive and helpful. Our food had a runny look to it, BUT the flavor. OH MY GAWTT the flavor! I got the Chicken Marsala with Mashed Potatoes and my husband got the Shrimp & Scallops in the Vodka Sauce(instead of the white wine sauce) and wow. Just wow. My husband said it was the best scallops he's had anywhere, cooked to perfection. My Marsala sauce was absolutely perfect with the chicken lightly seared, giving it a nice crisp. Truly delicious flavors that we'll be talking about for some time. Thank you Venucci -xo
