Sights & Landmarks
Modest house where President Dwight Eisenhower was born, with antique furnishings & memorabilia.
A very nice memorial and historical place. It was wonderful to be able to tour the inside of the house. I went early just after opening and got my own tour with one of the employees. Speaking of that, the staff were very nice and polite. The grounds and building are very well kept.
Wayne J — Google review
Compared to some national landmarks, the quaint Eisenhower house is understated and wonderfully informative given the limited time the family lived here. The visitor center has a 10 to 15 minute video on a loop connecting Ike to the house, his time as General in WWII and President, and his return to Denison to enjoy a meal with Mamie and Sam Rayburn. Tours of the house are self guided after a brief but informative narration by a docent. Mine was a charismatic, young and tall brunette whose patter would work at any historical site. The house is furnished with period furniture, clothing and appliances. Since it was 1890, that meant nothing electric. The upstairs isn't accessible, but you can get a good view from the stairs. If you visit the house, make note of the fact that the railroad David Eisenhower worked at ran about 100 feet from their house and visit the Katy Depot to see the station abutting the yard where he worked. .
Bret C — Google review
It was a truly fascinating museum and home. My 13-year-old son even found the information about Eisenhower captivating, and visiting his birthplace was a delightful experience.
Chris B — Google review
Very well kept and maintained place. It was a bit of a hastle to find the street entrance, but I managed. Lol. Plenty parking, not too busy, friendly hosts. I did not have time for the tour, but walking around was a pleasure. Ill be back for the tour.
Alex A — Google review
This historical site was quite fascinating to explore. Although we didn't take the tour, we enjoyed wandering around the home and browsing the gift shop afterward. We had a chat with a park ranger who informed us that Eisenhower's family, despite their poverty, never owned the home; it was actually donated to become a state historical site by the family who rented it out. If you happen to be in the area, it's definitely worth a visit. It made for a delightful and educational detour!
Megan J — Google review
Enjoyed a wonderful piece of history!!! Pretty cool, I might say!!! The people were very nice and Ken had all the information!!! :)
Cute_Chick_ 9 — Google review
The site looked beautiful. But is a handicapped individual. I was somewhat disappointed. The visitor center was located well. But the parking and home itself were not well situated. It was a 60-yard uphill distance from handicap parking to the home. Though there was a drive and sidewalk that went to the house, there was no parking at the house to assist handicapped individuals.

Nature & Parks
Park
Eisenhower State Park, located on the southern coast of Lake Texoma, offers a variety of outdoor activities. The park is named after President Dwight D. Eisenhower and features a sandy swimming beach popular with families. Visitors can rent cabins, pitch tents, or bring RVs for camping. There are also fishing piers for catching bass, sunfish, and catfish. Adventure seekers can enjoy off-roading on designated trails for mountain bikes or ATVs.
Spent a great afternoon hiking - Armadillo Hill Trail and part of Ike's Hike n Bike. Armadillo Hill Trail was great! Took a side trail down to the Lake Texoma shore and spotted loads of fossils down there. The lake level is currently low, so lots of fossils to see. There were fossils along the trail as well. Could have spent hours puttering around down there. Ike's was extremely muddy at the time, so I slogged only about half a mile. I want to go back when the trails are not muddy and explore. Really beautiful park and lake. Could happily spend 2-3 days there. Looks like they're in the process of updating the facilities. They're building a new bathroom/shower area near Armadillo Trail.

Very peaceful everyone in the office is nice. Coyote country definitely be sure to clean up your area. The community is not very diverse mostly yt's with sundown vibes so keep your protection. Stayed 3 day weekend well worth it

We overall had a nice stay here at Eisenhower State Park. However, the bathrooms, including the showers in our screened shelter, were closed during our stay. Also, I wasn't permitted to plug my trickle charger in for the boat because of the outdated breakers. It is a very scenic place and did experience a nice mix of wildlife during our stay.
Christopher B — Google review
This park is a lot bigger than we thought and everything is so scenic and pretty. The camper rv spots are nicely paved with plenty of space for fun activities. Rangers have been nice and don’t bother anyone. Included is a pic of my very happy cat!!
Kayla G — Google review
Great place for hiking and fishing but the campgrounds from what I saw dont have water access. The beach area doesn't allow dogs so we had to hike and search for a spot that we could put our feet into because it was hott. They have a really nice picnic area and an overlook. Boat launches, harbor, and some swing sets. Cost 5$ per person for day entrance.
Cassandra S — Google review
Pretty good place with decent trails. Didn't have a boat or ATV so can't judge those. The scenics are good and feels refreshing. 5 bucks a person for day pass. Would recommend
Hanting L — Google review
Great place close to Dallas. Lots of restroom, little outdated but very clean. The cave is at the swimming area, took me a while to find it. The entrance fee very reasonable. Beautiful place.

Absolutely gorgeous here!! The fossils throughout are so cool to see! Hiking the trail was absolutely beautiful, though very muddy.

Museums
The Red River Railroad Museum Inc is a must-visit for history enthusiasts, showcasing the region's railroad history with exhibits on train cars, locomotives, and artifacts. Housed in the restored Katy Depot building on Main Street, this museum offers a fascinating insight into Denison's development through the railroad. Visitors can also explore other nearby attractions such as Eisenhower State Park, Eisenhower Birthplace, Perrin Field Museum, and Munson vineyards to delve deeper into the area's rich heritage.
Diane gave us a wonderful little tour of the place. Taught us all about the history of the city and the MKT. Lots of cool trinkets and documents and equipment from the Katy. Absolutely worth stopping by, and if you've got half an hour to spare, get the tour! Small space, but it's crammed with history. Thanks again, Diane!
Faris T — Google review
Jon's guided tour was wonderful for my elementary-aged children. There's an expansive amount of knowledge crammed into a tiny space. It seems like the level of insight offered is tailored largely to the group as even our youngest walked away having picked up on largely everything that was mentioned. Thank you for having this little gem hidden away but so easily accessed! Furthermore, it was oodles of fun to explore the old train cars outside!
Felicia B — Google review
Friendly staff who gave us a short but information packed tour based on my elementary children's interests. We viewed a short video about the Crush Crash and they provided a short scavenger hunt. Good way to spend an hour or two and reflect on how technology shapes our communites.
Emily C — Google review
This was a very neat attraction. There were lots of artifacts and a very knowledgeable volunteer named Diane. She shared lots of facts and history about Dennison and the rotunda. There are a few box trains you can take pics of. There isn’t much else around to look at, but downtown Dennison is down the street and has shops to go to. The museum is free, but donations accepted. It’s run by volunteers.
Angela E — Google review
Nice little museum to check out. The men running it were very passionate about the history and were interesting to chat with. I learned a lot about Denison.

Went here on a field trip with my kids and my father. It was an interesting experience and learned a lot of local history that is not exactly common knowledge. The ladies who gave the tour had a very extensive knowledge of Denison and the Katy railroad. The gentlemen working there also were very insightful.

Wines were good. The ladies were super friendly and enjoyed telling us about the wine. Great atmosphere. Our charcuterie board was super yummy and the perfect size.

Wonderful experience!! The ladies were so sweet and helpful. We did wine tastings and ordered some delicious food. They have a sale on wine and the prices are super amazing! Theming on the inside is to cute! I loved the putting area. Gives you something fun to try out!

The Hidden Hangar Winery is amazing! They have a great selection of wines and really good cheese plates. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about their wines. The owners even stopped by our table to check on us during our visit. The inside of the tasting room is all hangar themed and really looks good. The bar is designed like a small plane which is super fun! It’s a great place to chill with family, friends, co-workers, or anyone that likes wine. They are also super kid and family friendly which is really nice. They have outdoor kids games including Jenga, Cornhole, and a really large putting green. This is one of our new favorite spots to enjoy wine on the weekends.

Wonderful place to relax and taste some of the best estate wines. I like their Semi sweet reds and Riesling's. They also have events and tours, ask the staff when you stop by!

Great place to enjoy a charcuterie plate and some wonderful wine! Wing Walker is a great choice. A semisweet sparkling red wine that will refresh your afternoon!

Truly a hidden gem and a wonderful experience. My husband and I were able to choose and try 5 different 1 oz glasses of wine each. We also got the bake brie, which was 9 dollars for a quarter wheel and came with bread and apples. There's a number of wines to select from, so there is something for everything. The staff were great, and we were given a lovely history lesson of the place and explanation of the selections as we tasted our wines. I fully recommened checking this place out, it's a great weekend outing.

We own an Airbnb cabin (The Getaway TX) in Pottsboro, by Lake Texoma, and are always actively looking to discover what the area has to offer. This is just in the neighboring town of Denison and the perfect distance for a fun outing. We popped in this past Saturday about 30 minutes after they opened and there was a small group of people at their tasting bar and several others trickled in later so we did not experience it at a full capacity, which was perfect for us. We sampled 5+ of their wines and LOVED them all - everything was delicious!! We were served some cheese, crackers and nuts during our tasting and the combination of it all really hit the spot. The venue itself is has a really great aesthetic, their tasting bar is really cute and the outdoor area is awesome - it includes a small green for putt putt and putters, giant Jenga, corn hole, horseshoe and comfortable chairs (with cozy blankets) with a view of the pond and vineyard. The hospitality was great and their calendar of events looks pretty robust so we'll be making an effort to attend one soon as well as doing a tour of the place. If you're in the area, do stop by even if for just a glass, you'll be so glad you did!

The atmosphere was absolutely perfect! Such beautiful lake views!! The service was impeccable!! Bonnie greeted us with a smile and was right on the ball! Hope was lovely! My Bloody Maria was so good!! The food was out of this world!! The Bacon Brie Grilled Cheese was Absolutely Delicious and their French Dip was honestly THE BEST I'VE EVER HAD!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND The Grill at 84 West!!! Very, very Excellent!!!

We enjoy this place. We had never heard of it and were pleasantly surprised to find it. They have a beautiful setting on a lake and it will only get better because they’re fixing it up. The meals we’ve had have been delicious but maybe the chef is doing too much sometimes? Maybe keep things a bit simpler? Portions are huge so it’s nice to know you’ll have leftovers. The waitstaff are very friendly and helpful with any questions you may have.
V H — Google review
What a nice hidden gem! My husband and I ate here on our "Date Day" and really enjoyed everything about the place. We came later in the afternoon, 2ish I think, there were two other tables there finishing up when we arrived and soon we were the only table. Some places the service and food quality can drop when you come during this time, as they are getting ready for dinner...not here! Our service was great, Bonnie was awesome. (As were the other servers that arrived towards the end of our meal, all were friendly). We even had an opportunity to meet Chef Tyree (hope I remembered that correctly). He was very friendly and shared a picture of a very yummy looking item for brunch in a couple of Saturdays from now. The view of the lake is very relaxing. This is a place that does not rush you, that's always nice. We had a bit of everything. Started with drinks and the seasonal charcuterie board, a nice selection of cheeses, meat, fruits and other good stuff. My husband had the lobster tail & seafood ravioli, loved it. I had the brisket stuffed ravioli it was so good. Topped it off with a few bites of carrot cake. We took a lot home, but that's good! Highly recommend checking this place out.
Kim V — Google review
It's a sad experience when the best part of a $125.00 meal is the soup, bread and butter. There was nothing great about the experience. The lighting is so dim you can't read the tiny writing on the menu. The server was good, the meal, not so much. $32.00 for crab cakes that weren't of good texture or taste. "Whiskey Collard Greens" that were completely inedible. Ordered a medium ribeye that came out medium well. There is a lot of room for improvement here. If you're going to charge Dallas prices, the environment, service and cuisine need to be on par with the Dallas standards. The day after, I spoke with some friends of mine who said I should have asked them prior to going, they could have saved us the time and money and directed us towards The Library in Knollwood. I hope it gets better here or it won't last.
Roy W — Google review
I probably should’ve taken a picture of the fantastic medallion bites for the appetizer, but it was gone and the cocktail game is on point. Tonight was just a quick stop in for apps and desserts and I was not disappointed. Did I mention the view? I could seriously sit out here every night.

This place is absolutely amazing. My husband surprised me with that date night and we went here. We got there about 415. The actual restaurant is beautiful. There’s a lake and a pool that you can see you can even eat outside if you want at the time we made it we were the only two there, so it was so nice it was like we had the whole restaurant to ourselves lol. The food was absolutely amazing. We ordered spinach dip for the appetizer, which was delicious my husband even said it was amazing and he doesn’t eat spinach dip. We both got the 12 ounce ribeyes. They were huge and cooked to perfection. My favorite thing was the greens. Omg I grew up eating greens and have a little bit of everybody’s but They were on point. We will be going back again very soon. Oh, and Ashly was our waitress she was so sweet and we never had to question where she was. She was right there ❤️

Nice view of the outdoors. Service was slightly less than average. Quite possibly some of the worst food I've ever had. "Latte" is listed on the menu but it's just filtered coffee with milk. No idea what their "home fries" were but they are definitely not home fries. Could go on but now I'm on the way to get breakfast somewhere else.

Located on 231 W Main Street, Deviled Egg Co. in Denison, Texas is a charming eatery dedicated to the art of deviled eggs. The restaurant offers a creative menu with unique toppings and flavor combinations that redefine this classic dish. Visitors praise the warm and inviting atmosphere, attentive service, and delicious deviled eggs with perfect seasoning and creamy texture. The modern and clean interior adds to the overall experience.
Incredible environment. The waitress was sweet and attentive. We absolutely loved everything we ate. The flatbread was creamy. The meatballs had such amazing flavor and I loved all the different eggs. The gyro was my least favorite, surprisingly… I love gyros! The crab Rangoon ranked superior.
TM B — Google review
Loved our food! The goat cheese balls were sooooo good. My husband tried three different kinds of eggs. He said they were all really good, but he liked the blue cheese one the best. I had the smoked salmon eggs and they were amazing!
Briana B — Google review
This place is an absolute dream! Completely eggceeded our eggspectations. The cocktails were great, I started off with a delicious bloody Mary that came with a little teaser egg on top, great appetizer. My best friend got the espresso martini which was delectable. We tried 10 different egg rolls and ranked them accordingly. Tip top #1 is the chicken and waffle. The sweetness of the syrup really works with the egg and saltiness from the hand breaded chicken. A close second was the Nashville hot chicken egg for similar reasons with an extra pizazz from the hot sauce. We also LOVED the ballpark egg. Nothing is more nostalgic and delicious than a classic hot dog and you'd be surprised how well it works with a deviled egg. It's everything you never knew you needed. Our least favorite was the chicken bacon ranch, which we had high hopes for but honestly 1 out of 10 that we didn't love is not a bad run. The ambiance of the restaurant is so cute and fun and the downtown area of Denison itself is super photogenic and delightful. 10/10 would recommend to anyone ! They do offer appetizers other than eggs but in my opinion, skip the apps, and just get a sampler platter of every flavor of egg!
Heather I — Google review
What a fun location for delicious food and drinks. Presentations are beautiful. We tried 10 different eggs from the selection and loved them all. Everyone will have individual favorites but a random pick won’t lead you astray. Service is friendly, prompt and very helpful. Kim was our expert guide through the drink and egg menus. Thank you! Great location along this developing downtown stretch of bars and restaurants.

This place is such a gem. We couldn’t believe there wasn’t a line out the door on a Saturday night. The food is amazing and the prices are great. Service was wonderful. To top it off the night of our visit they had a talented saxophonist playing. Go, you won’t be disappointed.

Amazing dining experience in beautiful downtown Dennison TX. Service exceptional, and the fun of live saxophone while you enjoy in house craft beer, and wine from the local vineyards of Homested TX. At Ivanhoe. The Italian food is exceptional, but tonight decided on the rib-eye and filet mignon,

The dining area is cute, but the entryway bar area really needs a decor update. Older crowd. Salad looked like it came from a bag, but was still good. The eggplant parmesan was awesome. Chicken parm was ok. Veggies came from frozen, but weren't bad. The herbed butter that comes with the bread is very good. Great service and really enjoyed the live music and wine tasting. They also just opened a brewery next door.

First impressions aren’t great... we walked in on the Saturday of graduation weekend at 8pm with a reservation. Stood at the front for almost 5 minutes, no one greeted us, I looked around and met eyes with a girl doing silverware and she said someone was checking to see if there was food left due to a busy day. A lady came and didn’t speak to us but asked another lady where we were going to sit. I asked if they needed our reservation name and was ignored. We were seated, got our drink orders and were given bread. We sat for close to 15 minutes before anyone came to ask for our order. By the time the food came, there were two other couples, no more crowd. Took another 30 minutes for our food to come out, by I now we have been here an hour. I’m watching staff clean and sweep, they close at 9. A lady lifts her broom off the floor, holds it over the table while she moves chairs, gross!! My chicken Alfredo was pretty good, husband said his ziti was mediocre. I was brought a tin and lid for leftovers, lid was covered in fingerprints. With COVID-19 right now, I wish they’d take more precautions. The bus person wore a mask and he’s the only one I saw. We won’t be back here. I did enjoy the sax music and the bread was excellent. i get being busy, I’m a patient person, we still left a good tip. Just expected more.

Tempted to give 4 stars because of some of the little things, but the food was a party in my mouth and deserves 10 stars. The key lime marinated salmon was by far the best salmon dish I have EVER had. Mango sauce and poblano mashed potatoes and veggies with the salmon just sang in my mouth. The flavors were so dynamic and symphonic... I wanted to come back the next day and get it again! The server's attitude was a little off-putting, like he was put out by having to wait on us. However, he did the job in a pretty timely manner after a 15 minute or so initial wait, and brought us surprisingly exceptional food. The queso blanco was decadent. The silver patron Margarita was amazing, and my husband got the chili relleno and felt the same way I did about the salmon. As far as ambience, there were a bunch of light bulbs out, paper towel machines in the women's restroom were empty, and a few other minor things I would improve, but there are some cool features in there that make the ambience pretty cool. If they would go the extra mile on service and some of the little things they've let go, I would pay more for that experience. Compliments to the chef though ..... Well done!

Friendly owners and waite staff. Margaritas and drinks were great. The food was amazing. They live up to the name"Fine Mexican Dinning." The ambiance was spectacular. From all the artwork hanging on stone walls to the eclectic bar with wall trophies and even a mexican carriage in the main dining room. Very large restaurant with room for large parties and events. When we were there on Saturday night, they were accommodating two large parties, one of 20 plus and another 16 plus with a full house, and the service was seamless, and food came out quick. Compliments to the kitchen staff and management. We will be back soon.

The staff is so welcoming, greatly appreciated! Our table of six enjoyed most of the food minus the queso which is extremely runny and no flavor, so I can't recommend. The fajita chicken meat was great and loaded with onions and absolutely no peppers, so we then had to order a side of peppers. We will return for sure but will not ever order queso or fajitas again.

Huck's Catfish is an authentic Southern eatery that has been under the same ownership for almost a quarter of a century. This down-to-earth restaurant specializes in fried catfish and other classic dishes from the South. It offers a great opportunity to embark on a road trip from Plano, TX on a lovely spring day. Many who have visited this place recommend it, especially those who used to live, work, or shop in the area 40 years ago.
Ordered the catfish and salmon patty plate. Food came out quickly and was very good. The catfish tasted great. The salmon patties were made well and were good. I prefer the middle of the patty cooked a little longer, but they still had a good taste. This was not my first visit. The staff is always friendly and very good at keeping up with their tables. This place gets very busy, so go early.

Stumbled upon this gem on a trip to Denison to look at a vehicle. We ordered the catfish and were very pleasantly surprised. The fish had a nice, thin breading and was flaky and not overcooked. It had none of the "muddy" flavor you sometimes get with catfish. My baked potato was hot and fluffy. The french fries were handcut and crispy, however, we would like to have seen homemade coleslaw. Overall, we had a very enjoyable meal.

Anytime we go to Choctaw, we ALWAYS stop in. Catfish, pshh, I mean…rarely have I had better and so consistent. It’s so fresh it burns my mouth every time but I can’t help it!! We did try the stuffed crab this last time and it was SO GOOD and not fishy at all…and I’m not a crab fan. Everything is homemade, the okra, hush puppies, tartar sauce, tomato relish, everything.
