Minnesota's largest city, Minneapolis, is a vibrant mix of historic architecture, world-class cultural offerings, and a thriving arts and music scene. Minneapolis is also called the City of Lakes because of the more than 100 lakes within its limits. The Minneapolis Institute of Art, also known as Mia, is a renowned art museum boasting over 90,000 works from six continents spanning 5,000 years. Housed in a stunning Prairie Architecture building designed by legends like Louis Sullivan and Frank Lloyd Wright, Mia offers an open floor plan to showcase its diverse collections. Visitors can explore ancient artifacts like a mummy and European masterpieces alongside contemporary exhibits featuring artists such as Dawoud Bey and Kehinde Wiley.
This place is huge. I spent pretty much the entire day here. The pieces are so wonderful. The place is clean. Bathrooms are clean. Plenty of security around to protect the art. The front desk folks were so helpful with letting me know the pieces or exhibits that were temporary that I should see first. Had lunch here and was yummy.

Absolute honor to have an institution like MIA in MN!! It's a magnificent Art museum! Beautifully curated! EASY PARKING and it's COMPLETELY FREE!! Absolutely worth going. Plan for at least 3+ hours for a good visit.

I really enjoyed the annual “Art in Bloom” event again this year! I think it was the best one I have seen. The MIA is a welcoming environment, and we talked to so many of the florists who were there to talk about their floral interpretation of pieces of art. It was just lovely! We also had a great little lunch in the mezzanine cafe. Perfect!

The Minneapolis Institute of Art is a fantastic museum with an impressive selection of both old and contemporary art. The volunteers were polite, friendly, and eager to help, making the experience even more enjoyable. We attended the February book talk, the Moulin Rouge tour, and the Tibetan tour, all were well-organized and engaging. Best of all, admission is free, making this an accessible and enriching experience for everyone. There’s so much to see that one day simply isn’t enough! Highly recommend visiting and taking advantage of the tours.

I was in Minneapolis for a long weekend from Chicago and decided to check out the Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia) on a whim—and wow, I’m so glad I did. First off, it’s free, which is amazing considering how much there is to see inside and how much comparable museums charge. The layout is beautiful and really easy to navigate. They’ve got a little bit of everything—classic European paintings, Asian art, African sculptures, even some really cool modern and contemporary pieces. I spent a solid few hours there and still feel like I only scratched the surface. The collection is vast and diverse. One of my favorite parts was the period rooms. There's something about stepping into a room that’s been set up like it’s from the 1700s that just makes history feel so much more real. I also really appreciated how much medieval and renaissance art they had on the top floor. It was a great visit.

A wonderful day activity. I took my friend from England here for her first time and we loved it. There was a lot of variety, while also having some same exhibits that I remember from when I was younger. It was a perfect experience. I loved it so much, and made sure to donate on the way out to show my appreciation for this great museum!

I had a pretty awkward experience here; I'm pretty sure there was a docent following me through my entire visit. But I can't help but give this place 5 stars. It's just absolutely huge and full of amazing art in a beautiful building. Also it's free! there are secure lockers in the coat check so you dont have to lug your junk around while getting cultured, i wish more museums were like this.

The MIA is a must visit for any art lover. They have tons of exhibitions of art from all over the world and throughout history. They do roaring shows as well for new gallery’s that you can purchase tickets for but otherwise the whole thing is free to visit. The also have a coffee shop/cafe where you can get refreshments and a gift shop as well. I highly recommend the MIA.

The Walker Art Center is a renowned venue showcasing contemporary art in various forms, along with a sculpture garden and bistro. While not always free, visitors can take advantage of events like Target Free Thursday Nights and First Free Saturdays for complimentary access to exhibitions, lectures, film screenings, and live performances. The center offers diverse experiences for art enthusiasts and families alike.
We visited on a free Thursday night and had a great experience! The contemporary collection is impressive, with a diverse range of thought-provoking works. Since we visited in February, the rooftop was closed, and it was too cold to explore the sculpture garden, but I’m looking forward to returning in the summer to see more. I would recommend it for art lovers for sure!

I love photographing at the Walker Art Center! I've photographed there for vow renewals as well as with full wedding parties and the place is magical. The Skyline room is perfect for a ceremony or reception and the Minneapolis sculpture garden, just steps away, is stunning. As an added benefit, you have Loring Park just across the road for even more photographic opportunities! I love photographing there and look forward to being there again soon!

Every first Saturday is free don't forget to double check your email for a confirmation and download it to the mobile app. Luckily they were able to look me up by my email and name. Brought my twins here they're two years old they had a lot of good kid activities making beads coloring finding the goose. I really enjoyed the orange room. This was my first time there I would not pay for this museum as the art wasn't really that interesting but the kids had fun

I have been to WAC before but the beautiful thing about art museums like this is they change exhibits. I enjoyed the interactive exhibit where you were invited to draw what home is to you.

Beautiful building and grounds. I love to start at the top floor and work my way down to the lobby. Highly recommend visiting in summer when you can walk the sculpture grounds!
Noah G — Google review
Very impressive collection of art, I think. Was nice to be outside, and they do a good job of blending it within the landscape. Found it odd they didn't want people to even touch the art. There was a kid that dared to climb on the cherry 🍒 spoon 🥄. A voice came over the loud speakers saying they were security, they were watching, and they would be dealt with accordingly if they didn't discontinue their behavior immediately. It's very dystopian if you ask me. Nobody asked me, so I didn't say it, but you better believe I'm gonna type it in this here Google Maps review. Cause I keep it 💯. Real talk . Yuh, feel me. Had my rating at a 5, but I'm gonna drop it to a 4 because of the incident over the load speakers. I didn't really realize how ridiculous and unnecessary that was until I started typing out this review. Other than that, it was pretty cool, and overall, a worthwhile experience. If they're that worried about it, maybe have someone walk the grounds and interact with people instead of a dehumanizing robot voice over a load speaker. I didn't go inside, me and the fam just walked the outside sculpture garden. Hope this doesn't come off as being too negative cause it wasn't. Just a slight critique on the garden and kind of society as a whole. You can miss me with that whole disconnected, dehumanizing, dystopia stuff. All in on the rest.

Disclaimer: This review is based solely on my experiences. This review is in no way, shape or form, meant to offend or discourage anyone. I had been to the Walker Art Museum a few times. We traveled there with JWP high school art class, back in 2016 (or ‘17). That was my first time there. It was a good experience then as well. Polite staff, explained the “do’s and don’ts.” The second or third time I went there (photos), it was a quiet day, not too busy. I like the vibe of the calm atmosphere. The one thing I will say -as best and politely as I can- I get that it’s business. Located in Lowry Hill, funded nicely, it’s business. However, I also believe art should be free for ALL, as creativity draws us in and connects us. I also think gifts/food should be better priced. I get it, you have to have good cash flow and spend on good attractions etc. so not much of a con when related to other places in the world. I love the vibe as I said. Staff dresses and acts professional and well based, the museum in its entirety seems to take art serious. So, I appreciate that. The sculpture garden is chefs kiss. Amazing artists! Absolutely recommend coming here on a lazy Saturday -or, Thursday since those are cheaper. Godspeed and thanks for memories.🙏🏽🤎

We were a bit pressed for time, and didn't pay the $18 admission, instead we enjoyed the outdoor sculptures across the street from the museum. We did visit the gift shop in the museum, and it was interesting. I will definitely visit again, and spend more time exploring.

Mill City Museum is a captivating destination that offers an immersive experience into the history of Minneapolis and the flour industry. Housed within the reconstructed ruins of the Washburn "A" Mill, visitors can explore interactive exhibits that narrate the city's evolution alongside the flour industry. The museum, located on the banks of the Mississippi Riverfront, provides insight into how this industry shaped Minneapolis' growth. As part of the St.
Mill City Museum is a must-see! The main gallery is incredibly well done, offering a deep dive into the history of milling and the role it played in Minneapolis. One of the highlights is the interactive room featuring models of turbines, the river, and the mills; it really helps visualize how everything worked together. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the museum wasn’t too crowded, making for a relaxed and enjoyable visit. Highly recommend for history lovers and curious minds alike!

Arrived at 10AM Sunday morning as they opened. Started with a very entertaining short film narrated by a local comedian on the history of Minneapolis and the mills. Took the Elevator to the observation platform 9 floors up led to an amazing view of the city, river and waterfall. We saw a demonstration about dust explosions and learned a lot about the displays from the volunteers. We really enjoyed our time here.

We had a fantastic time at the Mill City Museum in Minneapolis. It’s built right into the ruins of an old flour mill, which gives it a really unique and historic atmosphere. The museum does a great job of telling the story of how Minneapolis became the flour milling capital of the world. The Flour Tower ride was an awesome experience. It’s an elevator-style tour that stops at different levels and shows what life was like when the mill was running.👌👌 There are a lot of hands-on exhibits, You can even learn about baking and water power in really interactive ways. rooftop observation deck—the views of the Mississippi River and the Stone Arch Bridge are absolutely. Convenient paid parking is available nearby

3/22/25 - Wife and I came here after visiting bell museum and walker art museum. Mill city museum was our last museum of the day and it was the best one we went to this day. I did not expect this museum to be like this. They had water control models and valves you can play with. We also did the tour and it was not what I expected. It was fun going up and down the elevator, which I didn’t expect a tour to be like, also learning about the history of the mill was fun and educational. After the history lesson in the elevator, I thought it was over but we went to the top floor and that was the best part, going all the way to the top to get the best view of the city, river, and stone arch bridge.

This is one of the best museums I’ve ever been to! It is really well done and well kept, the docents are passionate and eager to interact and the exhibits are really interesting. It’s beautifully designed and has many interactive elements for kids and adults. The Flour Tower is the most unique experience I’ve ever had at a museum and I also loved the dust explosion demo, the test kitchen, the historic movie and the observation deck. What a gem!

Interesting museum with so much history that shaped the food we eat today. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the content. We visited on a weekday when school groups were in attendance and the staff helped work us around the groups so our experience was still great. Learned so many interesting facts about Gold Medal, Pillsbury, and General Mills.
Brett W — Google review
Exceptional museum. It was such a nice surprise to have the elevator ride / tour and the view from the top. The guides were eager to provide interesting facts and tidbits while you stroll the exhibit. We even had free snacks at the test kitchen. A must visit when staying in Minneapolis.

This place was pretty fun. I came for a school field trip so it was a little different than a regular experience, but I can tell that the whole building was accessible for everyone. The view of the waterfall was very fun, and the flour tower was very interesting and fun! Overall it was a pretty good place and I do recommend coming here.

The Guthrie Theater, a renowned venue in Minneapolis, offers a diverse range of plays across its three stages. The theater also features full-service dining, multiple bars, and scenic river views. Established in 2006 to replace the original Guthrie Theater near the Walker Art Center, the new facility includes various amenities such as costume and set shops, storage spaces, classrooms, and a gift shop offering unique merchandise.
I had the honor of photographing this beautiful wedding at the Guthrie theater and it was such an awesome spot to host a wedding! The location has so many nearby spots for photos and also the staff is truly amazing, I couldn't recommend them more! I look forward to photographing there again!

We went to see Mid summers night dream, the story was pretty good, the acting was professional and fun. The stage however felt like it was high school level with a $70 price attached... Unimpressed by the stage set up. It needs more props, more bang, more animation and more uniqueness. Beautiful facility though with good actors and a lot of potential if they improve the stage sets.
BlazingSpirit * — Google review
I had not been to the Guthrie theater in 15+ years. We had some family pictures taken there as well as we went to A Christmas Carol. This is a beautiful venue. Access and parking are plenty. Elevators for those who need them. The theater is a perfect size. There are bathrooms all around the theater and a bar that is easy to get to for a drink if you are so inclined (during shows only) The gift shop has some neat items and fun Minnesota things. Excellent venue for pictures; however the transparent floor triggered my fear of heights and that was a no go for me. I can’t believe people walk on that!
Sharon K — Google review
Didn’t get to attend a show but it’s great that the building is open to the public to explore. The architecture is one of a kind and I love the well-curated gift shop. I spent about an hour poking around - well worth it.

The Guthrie never disappoints! The Mousetrap was a clever light hearted murder mystery that kept us guessing who could the murderer be with just the right amount of humor sprinkled throughout. And the views of MPLS and the Stone Arch Bridge from the Amber Room and the Endless Bridge never get old!

Exceptional. One of the best interpretations of A Christmas Carol that I'd ever seen. The lighting, sound design, sets, costumes, singing/acting, transitions between scenes, etc. - just fantastic. Bravo.

Bridge
Stone Arch Bridge, located in downtown Minneapolis at the intersection of West River Road and Portland Ave, is a historic former railroad bridge that offers stunning panoramic views of St. Anthony Falls. Built in 1883 by James J. Hill, it served as a vital transportation link until 1965 and is now a symbol of the railroad age. This National Historic Engineering Landmark forms part of the two-mile St. Anthony Falls Heritage Trail, featuring pedestrian walkways and bicycle lanes for year-round outdoor enjoyment.
Beautiful bridge and park surrounding it. The bridge was closed for construction on the Minneapolis side when we went so we couldn’t walk across unfortunately.

Under renovations so not able to traverse the whole span. Parking is $2 per hour. Very cool view of the falls and lock.

Even though the bridge was closed, it was still beautiful. Enjoyed walking on the first half to see the “waterfall damn”. Very pedestrian/ bike and dog walking friendly.
Courtney H — Google review
The bridge is beautiful, especially from a good vantage point (Mill Museum). There are also wonderful views from the bridge itself of the historic Mill District and downtown. As of July 2024 the bridge undergoing construction so the entire bridge is not walkable, but about half of it is still open to the public.
Agnieszka Z — Google review
Although the bridge is currently closed, you can still marvel at the impressive sight of the beer-colored dam. The river’s thin flow, coupled with the dam's striking color, creates a truly spectacular view. It’s a reminder of nature’s beauty and the impressive engineering that shapes our landscapes.
GSTonyTseng — Google review
There are amazing views of the Pillsbury Building, and historic falls and signs from the Stone Arch Bridge. The bridge itself looks quite nice. Sunsets there as neon lights start coming out are super beautiful ☀️
Nikoloz G — Google review
One of my two absolute favorite places! I mise well call it home, without living there.. It is so beautiful and relaxing, especially if you find the trail. You can go down to the river and just regulate yourself. Sometimes there are artist that are playing music on the bridge, I've seen photographers, dancers, "moped parade" yesterday. Some of the things I don't like? How many scooters get thrown over the bridge, or carts or strollers! Parking is really cheap if you do the street parking, its only $1/hour.
Michaela S — Google review
Beautiful bridge. Definitely worth visiting to take a light stroll down the bridge. Just down the bridge is a park and cute cafes to grab a bite. Mill ruins museum can also be seen from the bridge and the Minneapolis skyline can also be observed from here. Ticket is not needed to visit this bridge. There is lock and dam tour available which may require advance ticket purchase. I would suggest strolling here in the evening since you would be able to enjoy the evening colors here.

New American restaurant
Restaurant
Spoon and Stable is a popular dining spot located in a cozy, rustic-chic former horse stable. The restaurant is run by the acclaimed chef Gavin Kaysen, who has won the prestigious James Beard award. The menu offers French-inspired dishes and traditional Midwestern cuisine. The historic setting adds to the charm of this hip choice for a memorable dining experience.
What a great experience celebrating a couple family birthdays! Service was incredible - our server was knowledgeable and attentive, and gave us genuine advice when we couldn’t decide. Intros: bison tartare and scallop crudo. Both were amazing, but the bison tartare was extra fantastic! Our whole table (even my mom, who is usually afraid of anything raw/not fully cooked) agreed that it was one of the best bites of the night! Sides: blistered snap peas and french fries. Both were huge hits, but I personally think the snap peas were more interesting. Entrees: dry aged duck breast, pork chop, and steelhead trout. 3 of us had the duck, and it was so flavorful! The skin on mine could have been rendered a little more and a bit crispier, but could have just been a fluke on mine. 2 had the pork chop, and loved it! One of them tried some of the duck and liked the duck a little more, but both were great. The steelhead trout was super yummy too, along with the mushrooms and dumplings. Drinks: Penicillin, Oaxacan, Gin & Tonic, Cosmo. The G&T and Cosmo aren’t what you’d typically expect, and as with everything else, both delightful! My favorite was definitely the Penicillin. Dessert: vanilla sweet pea créme brûlée. I might have dreams about this dessert. It has rhubarb, mint, and almonds… and it is SO. GOOD. It was beautifully presented, and just had such unique flavors. The cotton candy ice cream for birthdays and other special occasions is a nice touch. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. Highly recommend!

Spoon and Stable has been on my list to check out for awhile, and their food definitely lived up to the hype! My partner and I visited on a Saturday for a fun date night and had a good experience. TLDR: incredible food (especially the introductory courses!), nice atmosphere, and generally good service after a longer wait to place our first order. We arrived on time for our reservation and were seated immediately. The hostesses and our waitress were both nice, and the service was good—however, it was about 25 minutes after we were seated before our drink order was taken, and we ordered all of our food along with our cocktails. Both our food and drink menus had been closed for about ten minutes before our waitress stopped by again, despite checking in with the tables beside ours a few times. This said, there were no delays after our order was placed, and after that our waitress checked in more frequently and took subsequent cocktail orders with no issue. One other thing to note on service: my partner ordered their daily cocktail special but was never informed what this was, even after receiving it. You may need to explicitly ask. All this said, their food was totally awesome and definitely worth it! We tried one introduction, one pasta, and each had our own entrees. My favorite dishes were the introduction and pasta—we had the wonton soup and potato gnocchi. The flavors on these were absolutely incredible, I loved the shrimp and duck wonton and the sauce on the potato gnocchi was amazing. Our entrees were also very good and flavorful. I got the pot roast, and it reminded me of the pot roast my mom used to make when I was a kid, but elevated! I also got the foie gras add on, and I’d actually never tried seared foie gras like this so that was also a cool experience. My partner got the pork chop and the bite of this I tried was perfect, very tender and packed with flavor. They also brought out complimentary bread to start which my partner really liked. Their cocktails were very good too. They did their own twists on classics and they were all solid drinks, but didn't blow me out of the water. I felt similarly about the dessert we tried—we got the lime leaf pavlova, and this was very refreshing and tasty but not really a stand out of the meal. Beyond the food and service, the atmosphere was nice. The huge cage they kept their wines in was very cool, and I liked how the skylight overhead let in a lot of natural light. Overall, I think Spoon and Stable is a very nice restaurant and their food is generally outstanding. In my opinion, there are some other restaurants in the Twin Cities with similarly delicious food and slightly better service and cocktails, but I do think the food here is adequately hyped. Plus service-wise it may have just been an off night. I'd be interested to come back to try their brunch menu, and I do definitely recommend checking them out if you haven't yet!

My husband and I came here for the first time for our last “date night” before the arrival of our baby- from the hostesses, our waitress, and everyone in between they made you feel as though you were the only customers in the restaurant- some of the absolute best service we have ever received. This was just the cherry on top- our food was impeccable!! Every bite savory and delicious, even receiving a complementary side dish as we were at the chef’s table seating. Due to our “celebration”, they even gave us a complementary cotton candy whisked up by their pastry chef! Thank you for an incredible night- we will absolutely be back!!

I've wanted to go here for years. It finally worked out and we were not disappointed. The service was A+. We were greeted and seated quickly. We got waters immediately and the waitress took our drink order. She gave us some great recommendations since it was our first time there, as she described the meals like a chef herself. 👍👍 For the appetizers, we had oysters and foie gras. Something I've wanted to try, just once in my life, and it was incredible. Our group had the pot roast, icelandic cod and I had the steelhead trout. This was truly an adventure, as we didn't know what all of the ingredients were, but again, the waitress explained everything to us and she knew everything intimately well. It was, for lack of a better word, an orgasmic meal. Ha ha. We tried each other's food, and every one of us was "Mmmmmm, oh my God, wow", with every bite. We had a side order of brussels sprouts, which were good, but a little too salty. We decided to share two desserts. Again we asked the waitress what she recommended and what the fan favorites were and went with them. See below. Oh my God, they were to die for! I don't think I've enjoyed a meal as much as this one. They lived up to all of the hype I have been hearing about for years. I can't believe I haven't been here sooner. HONEY & CREAM CAKE Mango, honey meringue, beeswax ice cream $17 CHOCOLATE BUDINO caramel, crème fraîche, sourdough shortbread $17 If you have been thinking about going, I'm recommending you pick up the phone and make a reservation and get there as soon as you can. What a great evening! Thank you so much!

If I could give this place 1000 stars I would! I’m visiting Minneapolis for work and my visit happened to be on my birthday. I wanted to celebrate even though I was alone. I decided to treat myself to a nice cozy dinner. I stumbled upon this restaurant and made a reservation and chose Chef’s table. Upon arrival the lovely hostesses welcomed me and wished me a happy birthday. They were kind and so genuine! My server Luis was wonderful and took great care of me and Evan who was one of the chefs was very attentive and gave me fun facts about the dishes I was ordering. I interacted with multiple other servers and chefs and everyone was just so kind to me and made me feel welcomed and not alone. They truly made my birthday special and I cannot thank them enough! Not only the restaurant is beautiful and the staff is wonderful, the food is just fantastic!!! I highly recommend this place and I will definitely come back when I visit Minneapolis again!

This was the best meal we had on the trip, strong flavors and incredible service. I went with the spicy wontons and a Rueben sandwich instead of a normal large meal and it was awesome. I really liked the chips too. My friend had the fish and said it was perfect. The atmosphere it great, staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and food is fantastic.

Life-changing dining experience that reset the bar for me in terms of culinary creativity in Minneapolis. Seriously. French-inspired and wonderfully balanced between elegant and experimental, Spoon and Stable really stood out to me for its food, service, and atmosphere. Not only that, but they absolutely delivered with a surprise treat for me and my sister’s birthdays. We left feeling absolutely delighted, socks blown right off. That almond croissant! You can’t go wrong with anything from their bakery, but a coffee and croissant is a must in my book. From there, the sunchoke soup and eggs benedict transported me to the French countryside—and I’ve never even been, except passing though on a train from Berlin…anyway! I could go on and on about how well we were treated here at Spoon and Stable. I felt a connection to the restaurant, staff, and chefs in a way I rarely feel elsewhere. There is true dedication to craft at play under this roof. With its bright, elegant, and airy atmosphere, the dining space here is sure to leave an impression. I hope to be back.

Great experience! We got the oysters, fries, spaghetti, and gnocchi. All the food was incredible and was almost too much to eat between my wife and myself. The oysters were definitely worth getting and the spaghetti was top tier. Service was also awesome but there was almost too many interruptions to wipe the table, set more silverware, etc.

Argentinian restaurant
Restaurant
Martina is a chic and modern Argentinian restaurant known for its craft cocktails and sophisticated cuisine. The airy and relaxing space offers a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The menu features crowd-pleasing yet refined dishes such as steak and eggs with chimichurri, mafaldine carbonara, almond flour pancakes, spaghetti fra diavolo with lobster, and half-chicken served with vadouvan veloute and agrodolce.
I visited Martina on a Sunday for brunch with a group of friends. The restaurant was full but not overwhelmingly busy. I highly recommend making a reservation if you plan to visit, as they has each table taken. Pros: ✔️ Great service and atmosphere ✔️ Diverse and delicious menu with vegetarian options ✔️ Accommodating, though not particularly kid-friendly Cons: ❌ Seating arrangement for large groups could be improved What We Ordered & Loved: Vegetarian Options: 🥟 Empanadas – Creamy and flavorful 🍳 Eggs Florentine – Well-seasoned and delicious 🥞 Almond Flour Pancakes – Absolutely to die for! 🥔 Potato Churros – A unique and tasty twist 🥑 Avocado Toast – An explosion of flavors Other Dishes: 🦀 Crab Benedict – The béarnaise sauce was excellent 🥓 Bacon & Eggs – Simple but surprisingly outstanding 🥪 Mortadella Sandwich – Rich but still enjoyable 🍔 Martina Burger – My friend, who is a chef, couldn’t stop raving about how fresh and flavorful it was 🍝 Carbonara Verde – Well-balanced and delicious We were a large group, and the service was excellent. However, we noticed that another large group received a better seating arrangement, while we were spread across separate booths instead of one communal table. We made it work, but it could have been more comfortable. Final Thoughts: Despite minor drawbacks, Martina is definitely worth a visit for brunch lovers. The food was consistently delicious, and the service was top-notch. Would I return? Maybe, but mostly for the amazing pancakes and great atmosphere.

Nice vibes, candlelit and intimate. Beautiful bar and nice amounts of seating. My friend I was with LOVED the oysters and said she would order many more of those next time. Good drink selection. Limited food options but good creative choices. Unique flavor combinations. Kayla was our server and she was very friendly and sweet. She was helpful when we were debating between choices and when we had any questions.

Such a fun place. Martina was recommended by Stephanie March as Jan and I had lost a bet and needed to take our friends out to dinner. This is one of the few fine dining experiences I say is worth the money, as Stephanie said it would be. It is so good, in fact, we went back just a few days later. First of all, ask to be in Amya's section and to sit near the kitchen. She is incredible and made our experience such fun. She brought over little tastings of the house made vermouth and even brought a non-alcoholic one for me as I was driving. She was the magic sauce as our second time wasn't quite as much delightful due to not having her. Everything we had was exceptional - the charred Brussels sprout salad, the empanadas, the mushroom rigatoni, the stuffed chicken breast (one of the best I have ever had), the pork chop, the Alaskan halibut, and the house made vermouths. I will post pics of each. But two of our favorites were the potato churros and the panqueque for dessert. Super tasty and really unique. They also had a great gluten-free menu for me.

I have mixed feelings about this place. I thought the food was good. It's a little simple for my taste but good. The service was excellent; our waitress was lovely, with beautiful red hair. We ordered escalops, steak, 4 oysters, spicy Tirado, two lemonade, and the pancake for dessert. All for $230 something. The steak was supposed to be #wagyu, but the quality and tenderness were not wagyu. My opinion! It was cooked perfectly and tasted good,d but it was a little tough to chew on. Again, it was simple: we asked for salt and pepper, which was no big deal. The weird part was that they had an open kitchen. We sat next to it, and it looked cool to see them cook our food, but it was dirty; some of my utensils were dirty, and they had yellowish plastic reusable straws. That's nasty. Also, some cooks had gloves, and others didn't, especially the guy cooking steaks or grilling food. He kept touching his crotch, eating the leftover steak after cutting it in the wood board,, but the weirdest part of that is that he kept putting the steak on the cleaning rag to wipe the table. I'm not sure if it is clean, but he would wipe the table and then grab the steak with his hands after he grabbed his crotch and fixed his boxers, then pass the steak to the guy next to him without washing his hands or putting gloves on. That's dirty to me. Open kitchen. They better be clean. Besides that, the location wasn't bad, even though it is in Minneapolis. I will probably give it another try. We will see. I added pictures of our food and the place.

Excellent. Everything I've had here has been great. Perfect omelet (not overcooked like everywhere else), unique super thick slices of bacon, and the churros stand out. Staff have been great and even the music they play is just really good and adds to the experience.

Southeast Asian restaurant
Hai Hai is a vibrant and trendy spot that offers modern Vietnamese street food and craft cocktails. The restaurant celebrates the diversity of Minneapolis by stocking its pantry with ingredients that reflect the city's culture. Chef Christina Nguyen, known for her passion for Vietnamese-American heritage, infuses every recipe with this dedication. The restaurant itself is a lush paradise filled with plants and unique decor, having been transformed from a former strip club.
Fabulous range of flavors and textures, perfect speed, where each dish arrived as we were finishing the previous one, and fun atmosphere. We always start with spring rolls. These were interesting, and nice sauce, but not our favorite. Then pork rib appetizers had fabulous sauce and grated green papaya. Grilled cabbage was nicely flavored, though tougher than I expected. Crepe was amazing. Passion fruit dessert - with hibiscus whipped cream.... what else can I say. I had a grapefruit cocktail, which was nice and tart. We'll be back!

I was here yesterday with four of us total. The appetizers and food were really great! The service was pretty slow but well also weren’t in a huge rush! The sweet potato’s, tofu, and spring rolls all had good flavor and sauces with them! I had the chicken Milanese which was very tender, the sauce with it was delicious! I would definitely go back!

Always like our visits to Hai Hai, a cozy place in the winter and fun local in the summer. Started tonight with some appetizers to share. Had some fun cocktails, everyone enjoyed their choices. Finished sharing the cauliflower, beef, and sticky rice - everyone liked something different about each.

Pretty good spot. Some dishes were great and others were just okay. I think we would have preferred the spring rolls having the ingredients mixed together inside. Shrimp was okay but would pass on. Fern cakes were amazing BUT beware of the sneaky little red peppers that can be in them. It wasn’t marked as hot on the menu, but some of them had little pepper slivers in them, and they are VERY spicy. So not sure if they were there on mistake. Ribs just okay. The tofu dish was the best one for sure. Also we had this the hai mocktail, and that was delicious. Sticky rice was good too. Beautiful restaurant that makes you feel like you’re not in Minnesota anymore, and the service was extremely quick. The restaurant was fairly busy, and we were in and out in 45 minutes.

Underwhelming experience. The shrimp toast was pretty good as a starter, then crispy rice salad was kinda meh, felt overpriced for that simple dish(classic Thai herbs and spices mix over roasted crispy rice). The only good dish we had was the Balinese Chicken, 4/5 on that one. Beef Rendang was just a solid 3/5, nothing special. Vietnamese Crepe was a real disappointment, claiming to be eaten in the lettuce wrap, still was too greasy(pork and shrimp in stir fried shell, too much oil). The cocktail we ordered(alcohol free) was solid, 3/5, too little liquid to justify for $10 if you order it without ice. The atmosphere was decent, but they went a little bit over with dimming the lights. There are many other restaurants in the Metro area that can offer much better southeast Asian food experience for that price.

Hai Hai gets Southeast Asia like no other restaurant I've been to in the Twin Cities. The building itself feels like a restaurant I've been to a thousand different times across Thailand or Vietnam. The outdoor seating area feeling like the rainy season rains could come at any moment, they've even got the rainy season fold out awning! The food and cocktails here are incredible. You will be transported all around Southeast Asia with every sip and every bite. Without a doubt, Hai Hai is one of the best restaurants in Minnesota!

This place lives up to all the hype! We did not have one item that we wouldn’t have chosen and eaten again. The atmosphere is dark and fresh and tropical. It was a little bit loud inside and our table was quite dark, but the other tables were well lit. We didn’t choose to dine on the patio because we thought it would be cold, but the patio was actually less loud, and it was warm and Well lit. The service was incredible because the server took the time to help us figure out what we wanted to order and gave great recommendations. The timing was impeccable, everything came out in the perfect well timed to parade. The drinks were really lovely and parking was super easy, they have a parking lot! The spring rolls – these were delicious because they had fried pieces in the spring rolls and sausage. We eat Vietnamese often but my parents don’t so maybe we wouldn’t have got these if they weren’t in tow because they were familiar but even if you’ve had them they’re cut above the rest. The Water fern cakes – these were a huge surprise. It almost tasted like a polenta cake with the most scrumptious stuff on top. Pork ribs – these were so so good, really fall off the bone type of pork. I absolutely loved the pickled vegetable and sauce that went with it. Fried shrimp- was like a big flavor bomb. In a good way! Really easy to share. The Brussel sprouts – these are one of the biggest surprise of the night! So savory and delicious with the perfect bits of well cooked pork in there. If you’re not a fan of brussels sprouts this will change you and if you are a friend of brussels sprouts this will take you to the next level. Hanoi sticky rice. This was my favorite dish and one of the biggest entrées. It had all the flavors of everything that we had had before all wrapped into one. Balinese chicken thigh – this wasn’t my favorite dish, but my husband ordered it and he said it was his favorite dish Beef Rendang – they said this would be spicy, but I didn’t find it to be too spicy, then again we do love heat. It was delicious. shrimp and grits – this is a super flavorful meal that wasn’t too huge and went down really easy, it was my father‘s favorite dish unfortunately, we couldn’t try dessert because we were too full but we know we will hundred percent be back here!

The curry was amazing. The service was great. The after dinner drinks were a perfect end to an already great meal. I highly recommend the place for dinner. The only thing I would even dare to complain about is how noisy it was, but that’s probably because people were enjoying themselves so much!

Restaurant
Young Joni is a cozy speakeasy located on a serene street in Northeast Minneapolis. The restaurant, owned by acclaimed chef Ann Kim, boasts a warm and rustic ambiance with old-fashioned wallpaper. It has gained national recognition for its delectable wood-fired pizzas, including the Basque with goat cheese and piquillo peppers, and the Korean BBQ with beef short ribs. Young Joni's craft cocktails and upscale bar bites are also popular among food enthusiasts.
We had gone for my mom’s birthday and got to sit at the chefs bar! Family of 4 (all adults) We had ordered the mushrooms, sweet potatoes, and an apple salad! All very good, my family thought the mushrooms were such a hit that we ordered it twice! (Portions are a little small) We had them ordered 3 different pizzas; broccolini, old reliable (normal cheese) and then a margarita. Had to get a side of ranch, which was made in house and delicious! To end to night, we had a delicious apple crumble with ice cream to celebrate! The restaurant was so gracious to give us a chance to use their Photo Booth, just like the ones you see in carnivals! Overall, a great time and great experience!!

This is my second time to dine at Young Joni and it has consistently delivered. Super loved the ambience, the simple menu and the flavor of the food. Tried two pizzas and both were really good. Highly recommend the Korean BBQ pizza! Very attentive staff and we were seated immediately when we arrived. Really an enjoyable lunch.

First off our server was so kind and educated on the menu. It was our first time and it was amazing. The cabbage and pizzas were so fresh. I was surprised by the Amalfi coast pizza, it was delicious. I also got the margarita pizza and added honey. I was very happy !

Young Joni resonates with a fine dining restaurant coupled with a modernised theme. The interiors of the restaurant is well done with booths, tables and bar counters. The menu is well rounded and serves as a great brunch, lunch or a dinner place. The food is a very interesting fusion of asian food along with multiple cuisines. The Korean BBQ pizza is a must try and the Thai sausage is to die for. The servers were efficient and gave good recommendations when asked. I would recommend making a reservation however walk in is possible as well. Overall great experience with the restaurant !!

It was our second time having brunch here. Both times it was great. I highly recommend the Rise & Shine pizza and the Dutch Baby which comes with seasonal fruit compote. Coffee is good. The juice portion is small.

The atmosphere is great and the pizza was terrific. Birch (spelling?), our server, was simply wonderful. When I mentioned that my drink was heavy on one ingredient, he immediately asked if I wanted to try something else and brought me a new drink at no additional cost. The new drink, Jackalope, was very yummy. We’ll be back!

Great food set in a great atmosphere! The Korean BBQ pizza was one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had- and easily the best wood fired pizza (normally it’s not my favorite), but this was delicious and didn’t have that ash flavor at all! The bulgogi was perfection and the chili was just at the right spice level to satisfy my love of spice and for my wife (with much less spice tolerance) to enjoy it, masterfully done. The cocktails were great- I recommend the Sidecar and my wife enjoyed her Crossword. For dessert, the soft serve with olive oil was amazing. I know that sounds kind of weird, but just do it. We’re going to put extra virgin olive oil and sea salt on ice cream at home, total game changer! The church basement platter was also great, the lemon bars especially were perfect. My wife and I took pictures at the Photo Booth, that was such a fun and unexpected thing to have in a restaurant! I only have two small complaints: First and foremost the price and amount of kimchi you get is crazy. I just left Seoul last year, so maybe I’m biased- but that small amount of kimchi (which was good but not incredible) should be a free banchan when you sit down and not cost $14 as of time of writing. You can eat pounds of it for free in South Korea. Secondly, the glass of milk with the church basement platter was on the small side. I believe it’s advertised as a tall cold glass of milk… but it’s more like school lunch milk carton sized. 9.5/10 for me, absolutely make a reservation and go.

Feels like a very cool modern place, but the pizza did not blow us away. Granted we only tried once so we probably owe this place another go, but it did not beat Punch Pizza for me. The flavors were a little bit more complex and the mock tail was well done. The Caesar salad was also interesting. I feel like you’re mostly paying for the vibes here which are extremely cool.

Native American restaurant
Restaurant
At Owamni, you'll enjoy a unique dining experience that centers around Native American cuisine. Chef James Sherman is a world-famous author and culinary master, and his delicious dishes will leave you wanting more. From sandwiches to tacos, your tastebuds will be wowed by the varieties on offer. So come on over to Owamni, where Indigenous cuisine reigns supreme!
Highly recommend! The entire restaurant concept and all the food was incredible. Our server also made great suggestions. Some of my favorites were the roasted rack of elk, the bean dip, and a wild rice lager. The menu is decolonized, so everything is also wheat, dairy, and soy free so it’s also a great option for those with food allergies and sensitivities. Would definitely recommend & we will be back for sure!

Owamni creates delicious indigenous food with natural ingredients that make for unique dishes (for most) and satisfying flavors. Dining in February I felt many of the things we tried were comfort food for the bitter cold weather. The service was great and the atmosphere is nice. Great view of the riverside of Minneapolis meeting downtown. The space is bright and open. If you’re looking to try some new flavors and support indigenous people please stop in. 5 stars for all the right reasons.

This is an elevated native American dining restaurant. The service and atmosphere were top-notch and really sets a nice ambience with the background music and decorations. I really appreciated the ambience. All the dishes were very well thought out and plated. While they were solid dishes, I do feel a few were lacking flavor. Overall, I would say the duck pupusa was my favorite plate and the mushroom chowder was the best thing I had. I ordered two different types of sauces on the side, which I highly recommend doing so that you can add them to your dishes. The brisket taco needed salt and was very bland in my opinion, but the chimichurri sauce really helped out with that I feel the side sauce should come as a standard additive and shouldn’t need to be ordered on the side. The bean dip and salmon was tasty, but I didn’t really understand the combination. The braised turkey was also good but nothing really wow about the dish other than that berry sauce that it came with for dessert I had the pecan which was good but once again, nothing for me to rave about.

I preplanned my birthday activities for months and Owamni was an absolute staple. I had been telling my sister about it weeks before our visit and she said "THIS. This is the restaurant we go to for your birthday." I was visiting from STL and wanted my family to experience an amazing food adventure; and seeing this among the James Beard award winners, I was stoked. I had called earlier in the day, not knowing there was a massive event going on that day, so the patio was closed. The server said they don't take reservations and couldn't guarantee availability but said it shouldn't be an issue. A couple hours later, my nephew got there a little early to reserve our table and called me to say they couldn't get us in and said they don't offer anything to go. I was devastated. We eventually meet up with him to possibly substitute for a food truck dinner downstairs, and my nephew's wife said they could fit us in last minute. Whoever the manager was in the bedazzled cast, THANK YOU! 😭🙏🏼 We ordered: Sweet Potato - Maple chili crisp *Smoke Trout + Bean Dip - Berry mash and tostada. This was my favorite. All the flavors go together surprisingly well. The fresh made tostadas are crunchy and crispy, and pair well with the rich bean dip and tart berry topping. Elk Skewers - Maple ancho glaze, duck mayo, chimichurri. Bison Birria Taco - Birria Jus, Summer pesto, Wojapi Wild Rise Porridge - Bison fat caramel, blackberry *Mushroom Taco - Maple sweet potato, macha, walnut salsa. This was surprisingly my favorite. I'm a huge fan of birria and meat, so I expected to like the bison better and just say that I tried the mushroom taco, but wow. This had more flavor than the bison birria taco. Their menu varies, so if you see it on the menu, this is a must. Drinks: Gaagaagiwaandag - Juniper, blackberry, agave. Ziikiskaagamin - Apple, cranberry, sumac, white pine. Cider from Dundas, MN This was an experience my family and I will never forget.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while and was excited to have the chance while visiting the city. I ordered the corn tacos, rabbit ashela, black fern tea, and flan. Every one of them was awesome! I recommend all of them, but if I had to choose one it would be the corn tacos. It's cool how many different ways they incorporated corn into it to give a fun flavor and texture profile. I'll definitely be visiting again whenever I make it back to the city.

Before you even get to the food, you have to admire the location. A simple layout with numerous windows overlooking the river provided for a fantastic vibe. We passed through town on a road trip. Some local friends of mine told me this was a must stop. I went in knowing it was an upscale restaurant focusing on indigenous food. Once I was able to see the menu, I learned they actually don't use: cow, chicken, dairy, nor refined sugar. Ultimately, Owamni was an incredible experience that may be one of a kind. The kitchen was insanely quick while maintaining very high quality items. I'd encourage everyone to stop and eat here. My personal favorite was the chili crisp sweet potato and the catfish tacos. My least favorite was the gumbo (even though the shrimp was amazing). Be sure to end your meal with a hot tea/coffee and enjoy the moment.

Fabulous experience! My husband and I didn't have reservations as there were none available when we looked the night before, but we had no trouble. We sat at the counter/bar overlooking the kitchen (or we could have sat outside on the patio). The kitchen is literally the calmest kitchen I've ever seen. The whole place has a very warm and welcoming vibe. The food was outstanding, the staff wonderful and you can't beat the service at the bar! We got four dishes to share and that was more than enough. The duck is pictured. We're very excited to go back for the bison ribeye, it looked divine!

What an absolute gem, this place blew my mind! The seasonal menu is so full of flavor. I tried the mushroom chowder and sweet potatoes and wish I could have tried everything else! The tea selection is delicious. And the staff are super kind. Super accommodating for any dietary restrictions. As a vegetarian there were over 10 great menu options.
