Outdoor Activities
Kep Beach is a charming white-sand beach in the town of Kep, Cambodia. It offers a relaxed seaside village feel with local seafood restaurants and traveler accommodations nearby. Visitors can explore the unique Kep Crab Market and enjoy waterfront dining options. Additionally, the beach serves as a starting point for boat trips to nearby islands, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely day by the sea.
As far as Cambodia’s beaches go, Kep is by far the best. The surf is almost non existent (it’s a shallow bay) but there are now chairs, umbrellas and hammocks to rent for the day. The scenery is stunning and they keep it clean. Plenty of little stores and food carts around too.

I visited the beach on a rainy day. The sea was murky with big waves. The sky was filled with dark grey clouds, heavy with rain. Perhaps when the dry season comes around, the beach will look picture perfect. Nevertheless, there were many visitors enjoying the bracing winds.

Kep Beach – A Peaceful Escape in Cambodia Kep Beach, located in southern Cambodia, is a quiet and peaceful coastal destination ideal for travelers seeking relaxation. Also known as the “capital of blue crabs,” Kep is famous for its fresh seafood, especially crab dishes that are both delicious and reasonably priced. The beach itself is clean, with calm waters and soft sand, perfect for swimming or simply enjoying the sun. During the day, visitors can take part in various beachside activities such as kayaking, paddleboarding, or exploring nearby islands by boat. There are also local restaurants and cafes where you can enjoy a drink while taking in beautiful ocean views. Despite its charm, Kep remains quite undeveloped. Public facilities and infrastructure are still limited, and after sunset, the town becomes very quiet, with few options for nightlife or evening entertainment. Kep Beach is best suited for travelers who prefer peaceful natural settings, authentic local food, and a slower pace of life. It’s an excellent weekend escape from busy cities or a relaxing stop on a broader trip through southern Cambodia. If you’re looking for a calm retreat and some of the best crab dishes in Southeast Asia, Kep is definitely worth a visit.

Quite a nice beach to see sunset

Bit of a weird beach if I’m honest! If you came to Kep expecting a beach holiday you would be disappointed. The beach itself is okay, but the surrounding area is essentially hundreds and hundreds of hammocks which are sold by various vendors trying to flag down cars and bikes to use their hammocks. Came down to the beach on 2 separate days, one day was extremely quiet as it was the day before Chinese new year. Was really nice and relaxing and could take your pick of where to sit. Came down the next day and was over run by families. However no one seemed to sit down. So was loads of different groups of people but all standing up. Most people in the sea are fully clothed in jeans/shirts/jumpers etc so felt almost out of place in usual beach wear (swim trunks and my girlfriend in her bikini). Very peculiar. Didn’t stick around long.

Highly recommend visiting this beach! It seemed like they had just put down fresh sand but we loved it here. We spent a few hours under one of the umbrellas and ordered beers from the kiosk close by. The sunset was insane and it was so quiet for a beautiful beach. The staff were trying to pick up the rubbish and keep it clean, a lovely spot to relax!
Bianka W — Google review
Everything around beach is being destroyed. All 100+ years old chestnut trees - cut down. A huge hotel complex will be built there for next several years. Expect big trucks, dust and dirt, construction noise. Who needs beautiful nature when you can sell your country for casinos, right?

It features an 8km circuit suitable for walking and mountain biking, passing through dense forests, wats, and viewpoints. The 'Stairway to Heaven' trail leads to a pagoda, nunnery, and Sunset Rock viewpoint.
What an amazing 8 k.m. motorbike ride or very long walk throughout KEP national park. Amazing concrete sealed road & I'm shocked that it's not on the tourist maps. The forests, trees , scenery was spectacular to say the least & very well worth the visit Such an awesome place not to be missed.

Had a great 10km run at Kep National Park. The road is in good condition, surrounded by nature with fresh air all around. The views are beautiful, and I even caught the sunrise — a perfect way to start the day. Highly recommend for runners and nature lovers!

Nice ride on the motor bike. Stopped and had a coffee, there are monkeys to watch. The views are very cool
Melissa V — Google review
It’s a lovely national park, very spread out. Not very clear as to where to go. I would recommend riding a motorcycle around it. It is walkable but I believe it would limit your time in the park. There is a couple of viewpoints and a few trails that are difficult to follow. Also a few spiritual pagodas a long the way. Entry fee is 1 dollar, 4k reel.
Cameron H — Google review
A nice little motorbike loop for just €1 although the hiking spots are really confusing to get to and the paths are super unclear and unmaintained. We didn’t really see much wildlife I guess this may be as the motorbikes through the park make a bit of noise. Still, a decent thing to do when in Kep.

Seafood market
Kep Crab Market is a cluster of rustic oceanfront crabshack restaurants, offering a local and friendly atmosphere for an authentic dining experience by the water. While some places have become more touristy, there are still mom-and-pop spots that provide an uneven but genuine experience. The market is known for its freshly grilled crabs and seafood, allowing visitors to select their choice and have it cooked on the spot.
Definitely worth a visit. You can buy there in the market fresh from the fisher. And there are cooks in the market which directly do a meal for you. This is so nice. Many nice people there. Keep in mind it can be hot there with the open grills. And in some places it is very fishy smell. But that's normal.
Engineer — Google review
A vibrant hub for seafood lovers. Known for its fresh crabs, often caught and cooked on the spot, the market offers a unique culinary experience. You can explore various stalls selling not only crabs but also prawns, squid, and clams. The market’s lively atmosphere, combined with the aroma of grilled seafood.
Soneat H — Google review
Busy and not too busy place with a mix of market atmosphere as well as restaurant stalls. Try grilled banana rise rolls or freshly grilled octopus. The seller are like family even when they compete with their neighbor stalls. Wonderful place to eat, buy and spend time. For a refreshing swim at the beach drive 1km to the Kep beach after eating at the crab market.

Kep crab market is an institution. If you find yourself in southern Cambodia, you must try Kep's infamous crab market. If you're interested in how the Khmer enjoys their weekend holidays, this is the place. It's all about fresh seafood and you'll find yourself enjoying the best blue crabs, and I mean THE best blue crabs (dare I say even better than Chesapeake Bay blue crabs). Plainly steamed so you can taste the sweetness of the crabs. Dipping sauce? No need. Just taste the freshness from the ocean. Go there early before 9AM for best selection. Price per KG is based on crabs size; categories 1, 2, and 3. Size 1 being the biggest, commands higher price. They have other seafood besides crabs. Walk thru the tented area and you'll find counless vendors. Agree on the price. They will ask if you want it packed or cooked. If the latter, they can steam or stir fried with the infamous Kampot peppercorn sauce. Once cooked, you can eat that piping hot fresh seafood at any available tables, but it is required that you buy a drink, which is less than $1. Or take your freshly cooked seafood and walk or drive towards the beach area along the coast, and you can rent a mat, hammock, chair, or shack for the day. It's the Khmer weekend seafood fest experience. After the delicious meal, you can take a dip in the ocean or a lazy nap in a hammock, or take a stroll along Kep coast. It's an institution for all visitors.
Amie K — Google review
It’s very crowded and hot in there but the experience is worth it! Buy yourself some nice crab or octopus and make them cook it for you! It really is delicious!
Kym G — Google review
Touristy and overpriced place. Well, if you get there at lunchtime, you have to eat there. But have in mind it is pricier to eat crab and fishes there than in Kampot. Food may be fresh or reheated. The walk inside the market is worth the visit. We took a day tour to Kampot and Kep, and were glad we did not decide to stay here for one or two nights. Felt very touristy and dirty. Had I not toured touted to kep for pepper farms, would I have not have to come here. It is way overhyped and overrated than what it seems to be. I won’t go back.

Nestled on a hill in Kep, Wat Samathi Pagoda offers a serene and picturesque setting with panoramic views of the city and nearby islands. The temple is adorned with beautiful sculptures and provides a peaceful atmosphere for visitors to enjoy. Accessible by climbing steep stairs, the pagoda is an ideal spot to immerse oneself in Khmer culture and explore Buddhist shrines and statues.
Located on top of a hill, you'll need to take elevated paths upwards. But what awaits you made it worth the journey! Golden roof, amazing sculptures, magnificent pillars. Don't forget you can see the city from on top here!

A Buddhist pagoda located at the quieter part of the town, which was very less frequented by tourists. When I reached,I was the only foreigner there. But with some amazing & friendly locals & monks. Also met a young monk. After going up the stairs,a nice panoramic view welcomes you. Also the whole life story of Buddha is very nicely depicted on the walls.

As a traveler or a tourist , You can spend a lovely afternoon there enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. To be honest though nothing is so special about it it’s another beautiful pagoda where you can go up all those stairs and marvel at the city from higher up 😍

Very peaceful and beautiful temple on the hill. Must see views over Kep and the islands. We got a tuk tuk from Kep beach to the gate of the temple then walked up the steep stairs to the temple, I recommend doing this in the morning before it gets too hot like we did or later in the afternoon when it’s cooling down. Beautiful sculptures around the temple, and very quiet. Didn’t come across any tourists :)

We came around New Year and saw absolutely no people. Quite interesting and seems very few visitors to the temple. A vipassana centre is nearby but seemed to be somewhat under construction so we couldn’t see if classes had started.

Champei Organic Pepper Farm is a must-visit destination in Kampot province, known for its old French colonial architecture and stunning beaches. The region is famous for its high-quality fruits, sea salt, and the renowned Kampot Pepper, considered the best in the world. This pepper's unique flavor can be savored in local cuisine and purchased at the town's pepper market. The nearby Phnom Voar Mountain hosts pepper farms that offer an insight into the cultivation process.
Absolutely gorgeous and fun place to chill. This picturesque and charming farm has so much to offer. It was such a fun way to spend a few hours outside soaking up the beauty of a well maintained pepper farm. I bought 100g of red pepper for a few dollars. Entrance is FREE, and you'll need your walking shoes to see all of this farm. What a find! 😎😎

Coffee with a view from the top overlooking the coastal line of Cambodia Location 📍 Led Zep Cafe at Kep National Park The idea of having cafe in the woods is indeed a fashion forest like what Papa Eddie Chan has envisioned for over the years whereby visitors can enjoy drinks, snacks and also have their best shots in their best outfits.True enough that many came for this insta-moments too. Getting here From the hotel, walk and hike up the Veranda Hills. You will then come to the Kep National Park checkpoint. Foreigners pay $1 for entry. Best time to come is before 12pm. All visitors must leave the park by 4pm. Walking further to the park and if you are fortunate, you might be able to spot rare birds species. For nature enthusiasts, this could be a good spot for birdwatching.

A small coffee shop on Kep national park. Can accommodate around 50 people. Mostly crowded at weekends and holiday. Good for mountain and sea view. Price normal not expensive, only drink there no take away offer. Vehicles need to park at the entrance, so you have to walk around 350m. If you walk across the coffee shop around 500m there is another abundance shop and good for seaside viewing as well.

Nestled by the picturesque Crab Market in Kep, Cambodia, Kimly Seafood Restaurant is a must-visit for seafood lovers. This charming eatery offers an authentic taste of the region's renowned blue crab and other fresh catches from the sea. With its inviting atmosphere and stunning coastal views, diners can indulge in delicious dishes while soaking up the vibrant local culture.
Expect some Cambodian service, and give them some time to deliver. The krab was seasoned for foreigners, and you can taste the freshness. The best dish was the rice porridge with prawn, crab, and squid. It is a rich flavor and is easy on the stomach.

We shared the crab amok and curried prawns and it was my favourite meal in Cambodia - made even better by the fact you can request the dishes spicy and have lots of chilli added! Sun setting over the restaurant while we dined and a nice glass of wine to go with it all. 10/10, can’t wait to return if I’m ever back in Kep.

The crab curry was yummy and had lots of meat on the crab. Small portions are quite big, can share between 2-3 people. I would definitely come back to order the crab curry. Food was cooked at an adequate speed, but even though there weren't a lot of people, it took them forever to take our order, to bring us drinks and white rice. Fried rice was a bit dry, but good taste.

If you're on the hunt for a delightful seafood experience, look no further than Holy Crab. This popular spot among expats offers a vibrant atmosphere where you can indulge in Asian-inspired seafood dishes that are sure to tantalize your taste buds. While it may be pricier than grabbing crabs from the market, dining at Holy Crab provides an enjoyable ambiance and attentive service that enhances your meal. The menu features a variety of options, including crispy squid seasoned with Kampot pepper—a must-try!
Holy Crab is an absolute gem and has quickly become one of my all-time favorite restaurants. While its surroundings might not do it justice, the restaurant itself is a true standout. We had dinner for seven and ordered family-style with five entrées, three appetizers, rice, and drinks. The total bill was just $110 (before tip)—an incredible value. The menu is phenomenal. We loved every single dish, even the pasta, which we weren’t expecting to be great here—it turned out to be some of the best pasta we’ve ever had. The flavors, variety, and quality were exceptional across the board. The restaurant is cozy and charming inside, with an amazing view of the water and stunning sunsets. This kind of culinary and waterfront experience in the U.S. would easily cost over $400 for a group of seven, making Holy Crab a standout for both quality and affordability. I can’t recommend Holy Crab enough. If you’re in the area, it’s an absolute must-visit. We loved it so much, we’re already planning to go back tomorrow!

Wow - we were tipped off by a local cafe owner in Kampot that we had to come here for the crab amok - and so glad we listened! The best crab dish I’ve ever eaten, so so flavorful and full of crab meat. We came after the crab market so really weren’t that hungry, but devoured everything we ordered. The service was also really good and friendly, and the place was really stylish and modern of course with a great view of the ocean. Thank you!

Ate a mango salad with really fresh squid and small prawns at lunch today. Had to come back for dinner… Holy Crab is the flashiest looking restaurant on the strip but their pricing is on par with most other places alongside them so don’t be put off and immediately think it’ll blow your budget. The venue is clean, well designed, has good furniture (no miss matching chairs here) and ‘holy crap’ the ablutions are also spotless! It gets better though… I hate getting presented a dirty and trashy looking menu with dog eared pages (and so often it’s presented upside down in a casual ‘here it is’ manner) - well not here at Holy Crab. The menu pages are clean as a whistle, well laid out and presented correctly. The owner/manager has trained his staff exceptionally well right through the whole process of greeting and seating to taking the order, setting the table…everything. And, then there’s the food. I’ve already mentioned the US$4 mango salad at lunch - every ingredient on the plate was fresh and delicious. Dinner - the same - fresh and wonderfully crafted on the plate. Three prawns (thoughtfully peeled) and three pieces of squid tube nicely grilled and served with a Kampot pepper based dipping sauce. Main course of a snapper curry w/ vegetables and a side of steamed rice was generous in size and well cooked. The chef at Holy Crab knows her cooking techniques. I couldn’t fault a thing. Worth repeating visits if you’re a solo diner like me, but in a group try more of the many selections on offer.

Lovely little spot to spend sunset eating local favourites and french cuisine. Staff are attentive and friendly and food was fantastic. Watching the sunset from the back of the restaurant with dinner or some drinks is time well spent.

Amazing food with great flavor at a reasonable price given that it's fresh seafood. Delicious food. Khmer style fish and other sea food with vegetables but also good their service.

Very expensive place. Not better than the other places next door. Pizza start from $7 for a Pizza Margherita. Staff was very friendly!

This place is heavily overrated and quite a disappointment. We went based on good reviews, ordered margarita pizza, Napolitano pizza, seafood noodle, red wine. Pizza arrives in 5 min, burnt all over, tasteless, both pizza pretty much taste same, pizza base was bad. Staff was fast in taking order and then once food arrives, they keep staring at you, making it so uncomfortable. Wine was ok. Seafood noodle was good. The atmosphere is depressing, no proper lights and looks dirty and messy. Price is quite high for the terrible food they serve. Not going back, never.

The food is really bad and way to expensive. I ordered a three cheese pizza for $9. The cheese was good, but that was it. There was just no pizza, no dough. Only cheese. After I did not eat the pizza I ordered a dessert. What can go wrong with chocolate cake I thought. Well... everything. It was tasteless and mainly spongy. Go to Arts Cafe or Magic Crab. Their food is way better!

Place to avoid, please ! We ordered 3 pizzas, expensive. Pasta was no cooked enough, not salty enough. Neither italian, nor us style pizzas, just the worts I have eaten since a while. Topping discutable. Mushroom not fresh, no herb. "Is it good" is the question that they never asked to us. Even the chili oil was not good.
