The National Cycle Museum in Llandrindod Wells, Wales, is a must-visit for cycling enthusiasts. Housed in The Automotive Palace, the museum boasts over 250 vintage and antique models, showcasing the evolution of bicycles from the earliest iron-framed ones to modern mountain bikes. Visitors can explore historic cycles such as Boneshakers and Hobby Horses while gaining insights into wartime history and sporting achievements.
This place was amazing. A great little find for me and my partner who are keen cyclists not that you necessarily have to cycle to have a look around! So interesting. Bikes dating back to the year dot. I was surprised to see so many kinds of penny farthings as well as loads of memorabilia. Well worth the money and staff were really friendly, informative and helpful.

What a great little place to visit if you have an hour spare. There are plenty of bikes to see from all ages of past times. It is presented very well and the staff were very nice and friendly. We parked on Middleton road car park which charges during the day, and walked across, but there could be a free car park behind the museum nearer to the lake. It is only open a few days a week so check the website, I think it is Monday, Tuesday and Saturday. There will be plenty of signs outside saying it is open. Kids are free but adults are £6 but we felt that was a fair price.

What an absolute treat for anyone who has a passion for bicycles. This is such a gem of place. The staff was wonderful and had so much history and knowledge from past to present. It was a very genuine interest the staff showed us as we toured the museum. We got to talk and laugh at each other's different types of bikes and adventures. I will be coming back as the staff showed me some new bicycles that were donated recently. I'm looking forward to seeing the restoration on a few. The knowledge is something that you will not find anywhere else.

Lots of beautiful bicycles on display. From very early examples to the present day. Well worth a visit.

We popped in on a sunny afternoon and wasn’t sure what to expect. There was bicycles galore! They knew their stuff as well. I even spotted a trophy that had been awarded to Victoria Pendleton there. A fantastic place, fully recommended

An absolute pleasure to discover this hidden gem of a museum in Llandrindod Wells. Although I'm not a cycling buff, I was completely fascinated with the exhibits. The caretaker was completely invested and full of information about the history of the bikes. My husband said it totally changed the day, from a pleasant day out to a fantastic experience. I already made plans to return with my father before even leaving the museum. Completely incredible collection.
Araldia P — Google review
Cycle history has been compressed and presented well. The owner/caretaker has so much passion to explain all our questions patiently. Very good collection of bicycles which may be rare to find anywhere else.
Ezhil S — Google review
This is excellent value and great to have a national museum in Llandrindod. A really large range of cycles. The curation focused on people and companies. A greater level of explanation on some of the more technical features (for example how the different gearing systems worked and developed) would have been welcome. The staff were welcoming and knowledgeable, and I enjoyed being pressed to join my local cycling club!

Located in Llandrindod Wells, the Radnorshire Museum is a charming small museum housed in the former Carnegie Library. It offers a delightful collection of artifacts that showcase the heritage of Radnorshire. One of its notable exhibits is the medieval Llandrindod Wells Log Boat, discovered in the River Ithon. The museum also features items associated with Rev Francis Kilvert, a renowned Victorian cleric and diarist.
Not being a huge fan of geology and fossils, I was a little worried when first entering this museum - the majority of the ground floor is given over to the geological history of the area HOWEVER once through that there's a wealth of local history, architecture and memorabilia to give you a real sense of how the region in general and Llandidrod Wells in particular has evolved. Fantastic!! - a must visit if you're planning to do the tableau directed walking tour of the Town.
Guy H — Google review
An engaging little museum with a wide variety of artefacts and local stories. We spent an hour here and would have stayed longer but needed to let the friendly and helpful staff go home. I doubt that children would be particularly excited by most exhibits but it's free entry and there's some intriguing objects that their great grandparents may have used. Also a Roman soldier's uniform.
Graham L — Google review
Very eclectic mix of exhibits, ranging from geology through Roman artifacts from the auxiliary fortress in Llandrindod Wells, through to memorabilia of the world wars. A nice way to pass half an hour to an hour depending on how the exhibits grab your attention.

Great wee museum. Loads of fossils. Even though its free to enter.... leave a donation.

Great experience - was lovely to share our family connection with the log boat and to give my son a chance to see it in person.

Has on display a large sheela na gig. Fascinating county museum.

Small but cute, very friendly staff, nice local collection with plenty of information about Llandrindod and Radnorshire. A couple of strange collections with seemingly no connection to the local area but great range of history with fossils, Roman era, to Victorian.

Classic, old-school, local museum. Your favourite stuffed animals, fossils, Roman models, furniture. Essential visit for anyone studying the history of the area, but not much for the casual visitor.

Llandrindod Wells Lake, located just a short drive from Hush Hush Glamping, is a charming Victorian town attraction known for its spa waters. The man-made lake offers a leisurely one-mile circular route with the striking sculpture of a dragon at its center and opportunities to feed geese, ducks, and swans. Visitors can also enjoy lunch at the Lakeside Cafe.
A 5* rescue service be Demi! Our group was very pleased to be rescued off the serpent in the lake! It also provided the rest of the visitors with a great deal of amusement 🤣🤣
Helen S — Google review
The Lake area is undergoing a major overhaul. There are many activities on and around the Lake fronted by the Lakeside Boathouse. The Lake Dragon recently had his head and neck restored after storm damage over a year ago. Lovely place to visit and good cafe above the Boathouse.
Davy T — Google review
Love how re invigorated the lake area has become. Super paddleboard club running regularly there also! It's amazing to see passion and investment in llandod!
Chris J — Google review
Beautiful location, easy walk from town centre, plenty of parking, cafe, you can hire peddle boats, and other floating stuff. The walk around the lake is very relaxing with plenty of benches, picnic spots and BBQ pit. You can park around the lake too. Lots of birds to see, swans, cygnets, geese, moor hens, herons. Sign around explaining what to look for. Very enjoyable visit.
Paul C — Google review
Brilliant place to bring the kids. No money needed, bring your own picnic, sorted 👌
Rebecca L — Google review
Lovely revamp to the local lake. New boating and a pretend beach with free to use sandpit. The main café was nice but busy. Need to book a table in the summer holiday time. There is a smaller café under the main building which was okay. Lots of holiday bits to buy including rock and post cards. The toilets downstairs are grim but the ones in the main café upstairs were much nicer! Would recommend for a day out. There’s also a small park close by and even a payable mini pitch and putt golf course down the road too. I could see a giant chess board there too.
H B — Google review
Lovely food. Normally ok to park next to the lake in the car park. Great specials and friendly staff
Ian K — Google review
Amazing little lake with swans geese and duck's. Paddle boats were a hit! Also soveneir shop/increased shop was open and 20p for the toilets nearby. Upstairs Cafe was still closed because of covid-19 restrictions but guessing there's nice views from there when it opens. Also a huge adventure playground and picnic tables nearby. Car parking was free.

Nice park with small trails. There’s a faucet where you can taste the water and it’s so rich in Iron. It was weird but a good experience. It was raining and muddy when we visited otherwise would have been a good place to spend time.
Suchithra S — Google review
It's a small park where you can walk, visit the cafe if its still open or walk on to the orchard which is a vast open space that can lead to different parts of the town. If you follow another trail past the bowling club it will take you down to the river where you can follow the river.

I like this place, it’s small but… magical the main paths are flat and accessible. I couldn’t go down the steps which wind round under the bridge which would be fun for little people. For me it’s appeal was the sense of peace …I found the whole place calming and quiet…. Definitely worth a wander x

Only 15 minute wait for gf fish as they make the batter fresh. Very clean & friendly with good parking. We ordered for 8 people, generous portions and quick service. Food was delicious. Highly recommend for gf options.

This is more sentimental than any specific culinary innovation. No complaints of the food or price. Nice lovely staff and surroundings; great balance between soft core and out crispness of chips.

Michael S — Google review
Always hot and tasty. Large pieces of fresh cod and plenty of chips. Might give a doner kebab a try next time. 😋
Rose H — Google review
Thank you for having a gluten free menu for fish and chips !! Tried and tested and had no bad reaction, plus the batter is sooo good. Potentially better than the normal one, my partner said. Had to rate 5 stars - mainly for the first order and experience, huge portions and cooked perfectly. The 2nd time was only a bit disappointing as the fish portion was a lot smaller than expected yet still quite expensive (gluten free) . Their chips are perfect though and now I know next time to get the normal size fish order..not small, cause it's SMALL

Indian restaurant
During their honeymoon, a couple searched extensively for an Indian Curry House and eventually found Zeera Indian & Bangladeshi Restaurant based on its highly favorable reviews. Despite driving for 40 minutes to get there, they considered the food to be the best they had ever tried. The restaurant provided a fabulous and genuine Zeera Indian experience with delicious tikka masala and a great flavor profile. Additionally, the prices were reasonable, and the cuisine was expertly prepared with authenticity and care.
Very good food and a lovely atmosphere! The waiter was amazing and very friendly and he made sure we're having a good time. We were just passing by, but we'd love to go again sometime.
Madalin — Google review
Not bad but won't be rushing back anytime soon. The restaurant was clean and the staff were friendly but for me the food let it down. I don't like sweet curries so I stay away from ones that traditionally are. So when I order a Vindaloo I don't expect it to taste sweet and it was also very runny and not particularly hot! My garlic, chilli and cheese naan just tasted of cheese but my rice and saag aloos were nice.
Martyn S — Google review
The food was terrible, and the service was extremely rude. Even when we tried to explain our concerns, the staff responded rudely. We ordered 4 starters, 3 biryanis, naan, and curry, and not a single dish was acceptable to eat. The chicken was undercooked, and there was no effort to explain or address the issues. Overall, the experience was very disrespectful and deeply disappointing.
Sandy W — Google review
Mixed bag. Sometimes very tasty food. Other times very poor. Looks like it’s been done in a hurry. No flavour. . People that work there very nice or some attitude. Don’t go on a Saturday. They can’t cope. 2 hr wait for main course.
E Z — Google review
Second time we have been here! Gave the place the benefit of doubt as my daughter had raw chicken! We ate there last night & sad to say she had undercooked chicken again! And only know this because she had some leftover & we brought it home and she’s been sick on n off all day! We cut open the chicken and it’s not cooked l! Have called the curry house to let them know & they didn’t sound concerned at all just offered a free curry 😒 disappointed is an understatement

3 stars because of Nazghul Islam. He solved our issues with the food with grace and generosity. Well recommended employee. The food was very very bad. I've had Indian food for well over 20 years and this restaurant was one of the worst, even at a basic butter chicken.

The indescribable beauty, elegance, and splendor of Fabian's Kitchen are truly astounding. Patrons rave about the perfectly cooked well done steak that retains its juicy flavor. The peppercorn sauce is a delightful complement to the steak. Even those who previously despised coleslaw have been pleasantly surprised by Fabian's magical touch that somehow makes it irresistible.
The food was fantastic, value for money and good portion sizes. The staff were extremely polite, friendly and helpful. They looked after our requests with ease. They are an alcohol free dining area but this was fine for our family meal. The music was a little low so the atmosphere could have been better but overall we had a great experience. The menu online was also out of date as they don't do steaks anymore.

Lovely little restaurant with a nice choice of menu! Ideal if one of you fancies an Indian and one of you doesn't because they sell regular food like burgers and pizzas too! Food was lovely, staff were lovely and the price was decent! Definitely recommen the cheesecake! Was lovely!

Stopped in late on a weeknight and they were doing take away only, but as I was on my own they kindly set me up a table inside with a heater. Knocked me up the most amazing burger and fries really quickly, really impressed with the quality of the food. Very friendly, and I was really appreciative of you accommodating me so last minute.

Excellent authentic curry dishes and freshly cooked. Genuinely lovely staff. Absolutely worth seeking out if you would like quality Indian cuisine. Will definitely return.

We ordered from here as we were staying at Wales in the woods which is a 20 minute drive away. The owner kindly advised us what we should order due to the longer than normal delivery time and quality of products when being sent on longer journey. We ended up ordering a large Indian selection which was fantastic. Don’t hesitate to order from Fabian’s kitchen, the food is fantastic and the the service even better

An absolute gem of a place, tasty, freshly prepared food, and the staff were lovely. We had a lovely welcome from Ellie-Mae and the co-owners were so genuine and kind. Mac 'n' Cheese burger hit the spot and my wife's fish curry was superb. Thrilled to see this place so busy, and it deserves to be busy. Superb food, service and value-for-money. We will be back !

We were visiting the area just for a night and we went to dine out as a family. We heard about Fabian's food so give it a try and we got so much more from it. We had the chance to meet Fabian himself and he was an incredible host, always checking on us and if we needed anything else. The food was great and also good value for the price and nice portion sizes. Definitely recommend Fabian's kitchen! 🤗

Indian takeaway
Fast food restaurant
During a trip to Llandrindod Wells, I had the pleasure of visiting Super Dinner Takeaway, an Indian restaurant that exceeded my expectations. The lamb jalfrezi I ordered was recommended by a local and it did not disappoint. Cooked to perfection on an open stove within sight of the counter, the chef's friendly demeanor made the experience even more enjoyable. Using fresh ingredients, the dish was incredibly flavorful and satisfying.
Genuinely the best Chicken Tikka Masala I have ever had. Beautiful authentic curry. A hidden gem.
Gemma B — Google review
Horrendus! Got a hand written reciept so there's a blatant tax fiddle Waited so long I forgot what I ordered, and when I got "it" - it was horrible! Words fail me tbh, when you work away you do expect a decent bite to eat after a days work Mite aswel of throw me £18 down the drain
Ray W — Google review
The food was absolutely amazing! We ordered three mains, starters and sides. All of the meat was cooked perfectly tender and was bursting with delicious spices; we felt like we were eating in an authentic curry house when we got home. The kebab starters were very tasty and a lot of thought had gone into the way they had been presented. This was our first time at this restaurant having moved to the area and the food of this restaurant tasted the same as more expensive restaurants you would find in London. The chef cooks the naan bread from scratch using a dough roller and oven right in front of you and you can taste the difference in how fresh it is. We would highly recommend this restaurant. We were surprised that the food was not more expensive due to the quality, preparation and thought that has gone into it. It is not very often you find a chef who makes his food from scratch using real fresh ingredients and where the food is perfectly cooked. A+

⛔️Please DONT⛔️ eat from here, Food is horrible, cold, undercooked and overall unsafe to eat⚠️, i had a sausage and chips from there one time and the first bite didnt even taste as it should, not pork at all ., the chips i saw were tesco branded and the oil he used looked decades old, and the cooking area alone looks like a saftey hazard. Thrown pretty much all of it in the bin as i didint want to risk it. the owner obviously does not take any care of the restaurant as it is dusty in there, dirt on the floor, yellowing everywhere and even black mold in some places 😵‍💫🤢. Honestly the crackhouse of Indian restaurants. EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK ⚠️

Food was super good tasted lovely thankyou service was very welcoming..
Melanie W — Google review
Worst takeaway I've ordered food from, and I've been to a lot, doner kebab and chicken tikka were absolutely disgusting, tiny pieces of under-cooked chicken tikka and re-heated doner meat that was so hard it nearly broke my tooth. I mean it was seriously that bad the dog even refused to eat it. I don't think the chef was a trained chef as he took over 45 minutes to cook a simple meal that a monkey could do. An hour or so after eating a small portion of this food i started feeling quite sick and had an upset stomach,. I would now avoid this place at all costs.
Michael S — Google review
Bland food, next to no meat, hard bits in the Naan bread.... 90% went in the bin... scores a 2 for food hygiene and can see why... avoid if you want tasty food and spend elsewhere! No lie but the worse curry I have ever partly eaten 😞
Jonny B — Google review
I would never order from this place again!! If I could give a 0 out of 5 I would. I ordered a Lamb Korma with garlic rice, some onion chutney and a popadom. Where to start basically..... the rice was dry and bland, I didn't taste any garlic at all. The onion chutney was vile and tasted out of date. The Korma was lumpy, tasteless, contained only 3 small bits of meat and I found bones in the sauce. The only thing edible was the popadom. When I rang up to question them and possibly get a refund, I was told that there couldn't possibly be bones in my food, I had to explain myself 3 times before they had registered what I had said. When I asked for a refund, even just for the Korma, I was told that they didn't do refunds and if I could go there they would offer me something on the house. However after nearly choking on some bones I no longer wanted food, especially not from here. So I have just wasted money on a dinner that is inedible. Please do not order from here!

Fish and chips takeaway
Fast food restaurant
I recently tried the fish and chips takeaway from The Quality Fish Bar in Llandrindod Wells. The cod I ordered was massive, and the chips were delicious. I plan on going back there again in the future. This place has a pleasant and clean atmosphere, making it a hygienic choice for dining out. They are very generous with their portions, which I highly recommend to others.

Really nice chippy lovely chips very reasonable prices good service
Simon A — Google review
We've been using this place for about 2 years as it seemed to be the best chippy in town. The last 2 times however, the fish has been dry, and the batter chewy. It's almost like the last fish we had was already cooked then reheated. I'm not sure we'll give it a third chance...
Elena K — Google review
Amazing fish and chips, spent about 60 quid there and it was well worth my money, child on the phone very polite. Travelled 3 and a half hours just for these chips and it was the greatest decision of my life. As a man of impeccable taste, the sausages where gurthy and scrumptious. 10/10, would recommend 🙌🏻
