Homey, rustic locale with retro accents featuring globally inspired, gluten-free bites & a patio.
Excellent food, it was great. I would strongly recommend this place. Dog friendly as well.

I'm keeping The food and the atmosphere were great, and the portion sizes were generous. They often have special offers throughout the week, such as 1-1 cocktail deals and the option to get any 4 tapas with a bottle of wine. Overall, I was pleased with the menu. On the downside, their service was quite slow, and the staff seemed a bit disorganized. Hopefully, things will have improved by our next visit.

Came here for lunch via the Watercress Line Heritage Railway as gluten free was mentioned in the reviews. It was a long walk from the station. The whole menu and kitchen is gluten free, but the menu is very limited which dampened the excitement. Such a shame as its a great idea to be fully gluten free. Could do with a few more simple pub classics on the menu like sausages and pies or all day breakfast etc. Still, tasted good with a good range of drinks and friendly staff.

Updating my review to reflect the new tenancy. TL;DR - Good pub. Great food. Nice concept - something different for the area. Having seen the new menu before the re-open I was keen to visit and try out the gluten free menu. The menu feels progressive and thoughtful with something for everyone. The added bonus is that everything is gluten free- which brings a welcome change to the rest of the pubs in the area as this had previously been something only really found in larger towns/cities. It is with noting this also extends to a selection of gluten free beers. Being an advocate of a gluten reduced diet this is perfect, and the food tastes excellent (if you are worried that the gluten free aspect detracts from the overall taste/quality of the food this is certainly not the case!). Not much, however, can be said for the décor as the inside of the pub was mid renovation when we visited- this didn't present an issue due to COVID restrictions meaning we had to eat outside under a marquee. We are looking forward to seeing what they do to the place! All in all a great dining experience with fab food and attentive service. I hope this pub continues to thrive under its new tenancy whilst maintaining its welcoming and cosy atmosphere. Ps- the website also states the aim is for zero waste after the first year - which is a huge positive in anyone's books!! Pps - go for the gluten free brownie and thank me later!

Great little bistro style pub. Nice lighting and relaxing place to go to. Staff are very pleasant and helpful and a touch of wit. Good connection to customers…

Recommended going for the Tapas menu. My wife and I went for 5, but to be honest, 4 would have been enough. The steak and prawns were fantastic, well seasoned, and very tasty. The staff were friendly and efficient. We will be heading back to try some of their midweek specials.

First meal here under new management. Very wide choice of tapas style plates, all delicious. We didn't realise how generous the portions were, so slightly over ordered. There's often a free band on Friday, always been good. Give the George a try.

Superb service in a lovely, friendly pub. Highly recommend a visit. The beer was good too :)

Important :- VERY RECENTLY UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT. My Mum and I made an impromptu visit here and we were happy we did. I live two hours away and my Mum hadn't been here before so it was pot luck, but turned out to be a good choice. We were warmly greeted by Leo first and later by his vivacious wife, Bex, not only is she an excellent chef, Bex is a great 'host', in fact her and Leo make a great duo. Their ethos is just great. Our food arrived swiftly, piping hot and really nicely presented. Nachos, then really crispy, tasty deep fried scampi and vegetable lasagne. Our only disappointment was that the the chips are only the 'skinny' type and we love a chunky chip, but that's just personal preference so we skipped having the chips. My Mum had raspberry and apple crumble for pudding which she said was delicious, I was too full up to have a full pudding and had hoped she wouldn't be able to eat it all and I could have a taste, but no! This pub is superb for sports enthusiasts as they have a number of large televisions, it's great for young people and families in particular I would say, but accommodates all very well. Overall a lovely experience. Parking is easy in Lady Lane car park very close by to the Market Square. I would highly recommend this pub, Leo and Bex are doing a great job.

We sat and had table service. Getting served was good but receiving the food was slow. Food was very good though. Many gluten free options here. The burgers were amazing! Lovely little pub. Be sure to register your numberplate with the bar even if you have a disabled badge or you will get a fine.

Home made curry from the oven and a chicken piri piri burger were exactly what we needed tonight. Lovely staff. For a simple honest bit in the local pub, this is it.

Quiet Thursday visit, but friendly, lots of TVs for sports, darts and automated dart virual setup which is cool. Chef was brilliant, made us some lovely fresh food, and tailored it to what we wanted! Recommend the food, looking forward to trying the roast!

Wow, just had my first Sunday roast after a year, delicious, great staff, wonderful food, would highly recommend eating here, prices are very reasonable, regular events going on there also. Thank you very much. A must visit and dine.

Awful experience from the service. To start the wine bottle we ordered was off, it is fizzy, when going back to ask for a replacement we were confronted with an extremely rude lady who flicked the bottle top off and made me feel upset and threatened by her response. Do not visit this pub.
Alexina N — Google review
Had an evening meal here last Friday, beef and ale pie with broccoli, followed by a rich chocolate dessert. Staff were very accommodating, despite the pub being very busy. The meal was good value for money too. No fault of the staff, but I had to move tables because one group of male drinkers kept passing drinks to each other over my meal. Quite annoying.

Thai restaurant
Thai Boutique is a Thai restaurant that offers a calm and relaxed ambiance, as stated on its Facebook page. It prides itself on serving delectable dishes that are freshly prepared upon ordering. The establishment has received high praise from travelers, with 150 "excellent" ratings on Tripadvisor. Patrons have described the food as remarkable and authentic, with options such as Lava Monkfish and Royal Pork standing out in particular.
A delightful surprise in Alton. I never expected such vibrant, delicious, and unique Thai food in Alton! Having been to many Thai restaurants with the same standard menu of green Thai curry and pad Thai, Thai Boutique was a true delight. There’s a welcoming seating area as you come in, and a very friendly welcome the moment you arrive. We had a drink here before being seated. I had the king prawns to start but also tried the chicken satay — both were absolutely delicious. My main course was something special. An incredible sauce that was both sweet and tangy and satisfied all of the senses, and, a first for me, charcoal prawns on top of a sea bass fillet. The charcoal prawns were absolutely phenomenal — if you were to only have one thing here I’d recommend these! Aside from the food, the staff went out of their way to make our dinner wonderful. Small things like the jug of water always being full, to the beaming smiles, and explanations of the food and the backstory of the restaurant were all greatly appreciated. When we are next visiting we will be sure to return to Thai Boutique. It’s a real unexpected gem.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Every single part of our experience at the Thai Boutique was fantastic. We went on their last day open, and were met with very friendly, polite and accommodating staff. All 6 of us had a starter, main and dessert, and not a single detail was missed. The flavours were exquisite, delicate yet punchy at the same time and extremely well balanced. I tried a bite of everyone's food and I couldn't fault any dish. By far the best Thai food I have ever eaten. Having recently moved to Alton, I am gutted that they will not be operating any more as it certainly would have become a regular stop for us. I would love to see them open a new restaurant in the local area soon!

Was an interesting experience. Not the traditional Thai restaurant many will be use to. They are more of an luxury authentic Thai experience not expected in Alton definitely similar to some London restaurants. The food is amazing but does take a while to be served as cooked fresh. For my teens the was menu restricted as they are use to pad Thai, authentic prawn crackers, red curry, massaman, panang etc. with the option of having the dishes with chicken. Menu is great for seafood lovers including myself. For me the restaurant is perfect for a date night or with groups of adults. The price of the dishes is on the higher end, this is expected as using good quality ingredients and really well presented dishes. I did miss the prawn crackers and the option to have flat rice noodles. 4 starters, 4 mains and drinks came to around £120. Two teens and two adults. Definitely will go again. You should try it.

Probably the nicest Thai food I have ever had, everything as superb but the triple cooked beef curry was on another level - so good. As well as the food the staff are awesome, our waitress made sure we were looked after and the man that brought the food out to us was always so happy and liked a chat, we think he was the manager? Overall a great experience and we will be back (a lot).

Great find in our new home town. Fantastic service, good varied menu selection with an unusual selection and exceptional dishes at a fair price. What more could we ask for? Highly recommended!

First time visiting here, will definitely be back! Delicious food and fantastic service. Can't fault it at all. I had the duck curry and jasmine rice as pictured, and it was lovely!

Recently I had the pleasure of dining at curry palace Alton, and I can confidently say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the peaceful ambiance that immediately made me feel relaxed and at home. The decor is tastefully understated, with soft lighting and comfortable seating that creates a tranquil environment perfect for an intimate dinner or a quiet gathering with friends and family’s. The service was impeccable. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, ensuring that every need was met with a warm smile and genuine hospitality. They were knowledgeable about the menu and offered thoughtful recommendations that perfectly suited our tastes. Now, onto the food—every dish was a masterpiece. Chicken 65 was best I had ever eaten The flavors were vibrant and perfectly balanced, showcasing the chef's skill and passion for creating unforgettable meals. From the appetizers to the desserts, each course was a delightful journey of taste. The ingredients were fresh and high-quality, and the presentation was as beautiful as the food was delicious. Overall, curry palaces Alton is a must-visit for anyone seeking a peaceful dining experience with outstanding service and food that will leave you craving more. I can't wait to return and explore more of their exquisite menu. Highly recommended!

Excellent service and curry. Best curry house in alton. The staff managed our party of 13 with ease. Faultless food and service, would recommend.

Decided to have a Sunday banquet £15.95 but as it was December they had the festive banquet @ £25.95 and they even offered it for 2 dine in customers. The restaurant look like a typical Indian, but don't let the fool you. The food was fresh and tasty, even though I did not manage to experience the smaller normal banquet, the Christmas one was very filling and provided many options. We even asked to have a doggy bag as could not finish it all. They also offer tribute nights, something I may go and re-visit. The restaurant manager gave us complimentary drinks after the meal. Definitely go and try the place out.

Absolutely brilliant service, delicious food, and friendly staff. We were looking for a place to enjoy hot food and happened to stumble upon the curry palace. Do not be fooled by its exterior it’s a very warm and friendly place with fab decor inside. This place is unmatched with their food and service. We ordered the chicken curry, lamb curry, veg curry, lamb biryani, boiled rice, Peshawari naan, and many garlic naans. Never have we enjoyed a meal so much. The food came out perfectly hot and perfectly seasoned after within 20 minutes of being seated. You could taste the love and effort and passion put into each and every dish. Would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for not just a good, but a fantastic curry and a warm friendly dining experience. For five of us everything cost around £65~ including soft drinks which is incredibly cheap compared to other London restaurants we’ve tried. This is no ordinary restaurant, it’s not to be missed - will definitely be coming here again.

We ordered a takeaway, so cannot comment about the restaurant, although my husband said that it had a good atmosphere and we should 'dine in'. The food was excellent, so we will. Discovered a real gem in Alton.
Sue M — Google review
Made two orders over an hour apart (my friend had ordered for himself then I decided I wanted to as well) both orders were a chicken Korma and they were both undercooked and pink, not raw but too pink to eat. We took the food back and we were told there was nothing wrong with it and were offered either another Korma each or a voucher and were refused any kind of refund. Over £50 wasted. Will not be ordering from here again. (Quality of pictures isn’t great and doesn’t quite show just how pink the chicken really was)

I guess due to lack of choice in Alton people choose to eat here. Quite possibly the worst excuse for 'authentic' food. Samosa from a supermarket, keema curry, well a bolognaise with spice. £60 two meals. No heating. Avoid.

Lovely one night stay yesterday. Fish & chips and roast beef for dinner were very tasty with good sized portions. Shared a waffle and ice cream for dessert, very nice. Comfortable room and good choice for breakfast. Staff were friendly and service good. Will back in the summer for a braai. Good undercover seating in the garden

Rory and Rae provided great service and were extremely friendly. The ribs were absolutely delectable and would love to have them again. Both the service and the food could not be better and will be highly recommending this pub to my friends and family. Please if you have the chance come to this pub

Went there for Sunday lunch. Good food, if a bit pricey. The serving staff were excellent but the wait for our main courses was too long. One minor complaint... Put pound signs against your prices or next time I'll try and pay in Rand or Roubles.

We had our company Christmas meal at the White Hart last night, 24 people. The food was incredible and we didn't have to wait long for them to serve everyone together. The staff were all so friendly and attentive, making sure everyone was ok for drinks between courses and anything else we might need. The organisation before the night was fantastic, great communication and very friendly - Thank you Stephanie!
