I am an ardent follower of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, he is my idol. Was looking forward to visit this Fort, but the approach road is too rough. I couldn't even see 1 person there, except a local lady who had come with her cows and goats. Couldn't even go up the fort. Just clicked a few pics from the base of the fort.

Vehicle are not allowed to go above. There is no timing. 2 Wheeler can go above upto the stairs. Around 1 km to 1.5 km of road. 50 to 60 straight high steps. Keep a lot of water and snacks handy. Nothing available over the top.

Beautiful views from here. There are remains of the Fort, Ponds with plenty water and Hatkeshvar Mahadev Temple. Lovely views of the Hatgad Village, Club Mahindra Resort, Lakes, Roads, and Saputara town. It's about three hours to climb the hill, walk around, and come down. Not many people above the mountain, but it is safe to go in small groups.

There are barely any walls of the fort left. Only few staircases are remaining. But if there is no fog it provides a great view of the Saputara city and the lake. It is worth visiting for people who love to trek as the vehicles are stopped down on the main road only. U have to walk up about 1.5-2 kms. There is a smal Lord Shiva temple in the fort. There are plenty of flowers in the rainy season. It's worth the visit in monsoon with breeze, fog and rain drops around. Loved every moment there.

Hatgad was build by yadavas and it later was strengthen by Shivaji Maharaj during 1670's to watch over Surgana ghatvaat and province as it border Mughal area down in Gujrat. The authorities at the base (where the tar road to hatgad start) has erected a check post charge per person Rs 10/- and every vehicle Rs 20/- as parking charges. The rock steps to the fort start just near the parking area. It will take somewhere around 5-10 mins to reach the top. There are 4 darwajas to reach the top. The first darwaja has a Sharab sculpture at its base along with Marathi - Devanagari shilalekha. Once you enter 3rd darwaja just climb a rock part to your left to reach a old shilalekha. It belong to Baghul raja of baglan. Once you reach the top, there is one massive water tank carved into rock to your left. There is one recently renovated shiv mandir to you right. There are 2 massive water tank near it. And one smaller rock carved water tank, which is dried. There are ruins of wada on the higher elevation beside it. There are 2 bastion ruins. It will take around 30 mins max to explore the whole fort.

Great fort in between the mountains and on top of the hill. 90 percent of the fort is broken. Too many water reservoirs seen on the fort that are filled with water and some are dried. Something very sad to see its became a site for lovers point for couples and sex destination due to nobody visits. And a muslim mazaar is built inside the fort. Who gave permission to build a majar on it. Its a hindu kings fort and made for hindus only. It should be demolished and quran also doesn't allow to build a mazaar and pray there. Its free. No tickets.

It is a beautiful place to spend three to four hours. Many attractions for children and adults. Rental bikes, cycles, Horseride, food & drinks, etc. A nice parking facility. Beautiful views from here, Sunset view, Hatgad, etc. Paragliding is also available here. Well-maintained tourist place...

When you dream of your own self that you are playing a game of hide and seek with clouds and rain you must go to saputara and table points. In the rainy season you had the same experience. Saputara has become more beautiful in the rainy season. Even if you can't see your partner and suddenly he or she appears from the cloud. We are a group of 12 tea club friends every year especially visiting saputara in the rainy season.

Good place in monsoon time. All session have different vibes to came here. Some activity here to do. Good place to take photos. Entry fees 50 rs for car and 10 rs for bike. Area is promoting local peoples.. business and grow up them.

Saputara table point is major attractions in Saputara All must go at least once to enjoy the Beauty of hill and sunset view from top,in between you can enjoy ropeway which actually gives you top view of Saputara, other side of ropeway was closed ( by govt) when we visited hopefully will be opened in coming summer vacation, multiple options horse ride,bike ride, cycle ride, enjoy multiple snacks on top.

Good place to visit, little away from Nashik.. good place to spend family time.. to have snacks.. horse 🐎 and camel 🐫 ride is available.. be there at least 1 hour before sunset..

Many activities are there like horse and camel ride, twin bicycle ride, ATV and baby scooter ride, zip line, rope way, photo shoot, tea, coffee and much more, all activity charges are reasonable and worth doing.

This place is for only those people who are interested in culture and traditions. You will find details about Dangi people lifestyle, their homes, their equipments for fishing and hunting. The building is old and seems it needs repairng. I avoid to go on first floor to be safe 😀.

Very nice concept & museum is evolved around it . However I always wonder very nice creations by governments is getting worthless because of poor maintaining of place. What concern officials are doing, is there any audit process for such good places.

Saputara Museum (Tribal Museum) is located at the center of saputara. It is exactly opposite to the Saputara Lake. The museum is the treasure for the people who loves history, art and culture. The anthropology section contains enormous information about the tribes and their art, culture, clothing, Ornaments, festivals, Life style etc. The Musical instruments are just amazing.👌👌 It also contains the famous "Varli" painting style of the tribes. It also contains the information about tourist places, animals, birds etc. Structure need to be renovated as soon as possible. Entry fee is nominal, 5 rs. Everyone should visit it to know about the rich culture of our tribes. 👍

Museum is rich contains information about cultural varieties of people in Dang district. Showcase of old utensils, god & goddess, mask of Indian artifect, jewellery, weapons, farming tools, musical instruments. Construction needs renovation apart from that nice museum to visit. Women jewellery with actual photograph of people is quite beautiful and interesting. For students entry fee is 2 rs, adult 5 rs and foriegn person 50 rs per person. Opens at 10:30.

It is an average museum. It is maintained by Gujarat government. The building is pretty old and there is water leakage at a lot of places. There is a separate gents and ladies Washroom at the premises, by it is not at all maintained. Entry fees is very nominal, at Rs 5/- per Indian citizen. Fees for foreign citizens is Rs 50/- . For students visiting this museum the fees is only Rs 2/-. This museum specialises on three tribes local to this area, warli, bhil and kunbi. The ornaments, cooking appliances, musical instruments and their grain storage instruments are at display. Overall, a nice place to visit for any social anthropology student, average for rest.

Get a flavour of the tribes of Dang district at the Saputara Tribal Museum. It displays musical . This unique museum has gained importance due to the large number of interesting artefacts and handicrafts put on display here. Amongst the. Top leakage . Different types of leaving of local adivasi people's culture are seen here by fotos and statues..you can see Dang districts old culture,birds and animals information which are living here..Building are very old....

Pleasant view but boating experience was not good for solo person. But with a family of 4 or 6 will get a good condition paddle boat to enjoy the ride in Lake. Activities near Lake are good and variety of food options available.

A calm, serene and beautiful lake located in Saputara. It is a popular tourist attraction and visited by tourists every year. This lake is surrounded by hills, road on one side and gardens on either side. It is an ideal place for boating. However, the ticket price for boating was Rs. 35 per person for 30 mins. It gets crowded in the evenings. There are paddle boats as well as row boats. Also, there are a few stalls selling refreshments, corn on the cob and other things. Ever, there are some benches for people to sit. Sometimes, there are some cows or bullocks that creates a nuisance in the vicinity. This beautiful lake is an ideal place for families, couples as well as friends. It is a must visit and should not be missed while in Saputara.

Hill station,you can go for boating, also adventures sports activities.You can visit acquarium for that you have to buy entry tickets at a minimum cost.You can also buy strawberries in streets at a very low cost.Most suited time to visit in Summer. Beautiful place to visit with family and friends.

It's so amazing lake. Cold Breeze around. Boating is very good experience. Food and tea all around. Ample parking area. So neat and clean. One can get to see decorative lighting at night. Must visit place.

You can get boating facility here. Rs. 300 for 4 seater self pedal boats for 30 min. Pedalling Person with boats are also available. Food court is also available here. Night view is also fabulous.

Wide variety of flowers and very beautifully maintained...they have good places when u can capture the pictures and sit and also relax.. they have a cafe type store downstairs which has very costly items..not tried so cannot comment on the taste. The flowers are such different and beautiful which you may have never seen. There is 10 rs per person entry ticket which seems very reasonable...

It's a small garden in saputara. Entry ticket is 10rupee per person. It also has Kulhad cafe where you can get tea, sandwiches and few other snacks. Its a good place to click pictures.

The step garden here was a beautiful, calm place. There are a lot of photogenic corners here which can be used as backdrop for great pictures. The place is easily accessible, you won't have any difficulty finding it but please check the timings before visiting. It remains closed in the afternoons.

It is cool place for some nice clicks. They take entry fees for the garden. Its worthy don't worry. Best time for visit the garden is in the morning or else in the noon. In the upper side of garden after climbing a steps there is samll hut where we can seat and joy the view of tha greenery of saputara. In the garden you can seat bcz they prohibited these area for public seating. The view of ghat and landscape are just awesome. There is also one big hut (Made of wood) for seating purpose. There is collection of plants here.

This one in Saputara. One of the best garden situated on hill station. I have visited so many different types of gardens in my life but this one was very special, not because of the place but the architecture and arrangements of plants, stones, levels of hill was truly amzingly arranged. - You can see Arial view of saputara by standing at highest spot of the garden. - different varieties of flowers, plants, trees etc. - beautiful cafe with quick bites and you can enjoy the view with breezing atmosphere. - You can have fun and seat there as long as you want.😀 - Best place for nature lovers and for those who are crazy about taking and sharing pictures on Instagram, facebook and other social apps. - Entry charge is reasonable. Step Garden is nothing but a small garden with ordinary plants. The location has no of steps to a small height, there is a tent structure. This garden has a entry ticket of Rs.10. Inside garden one cafe is available to have small tiffen. You can spend 30 mins to 1 hour here. To hae coffee in a garden environment, you can opt for step garden. Its very walkable distance from saputara bus stop.

As the name suggests, it is point to witness the beautiful moment of sun setting down. The shades of different colours appearing on the sky is mesmerizing. Also the aerial view of lake and the town visible from this point is awesome. There are two ways to reach the sunset point, one is through ropeway (which starts from Table point) and other one is by climbing up on the hill. It is almost close to 1 km strenuous climb, the vehicles are not allowed except for the bikes which are provided by the locals on chargeable basis (they charge Rs 100 one way). There are few stalls where water and food are available. For children, there are few recreational stuff such as RC cars, horse rides, etc. There is no entry charge if one decides to climb up while travel through ropeway is chargeable. It is located on height and we can only go by a walk by hiking on the hill. It will take some time. The view is amazing from there.

The road to reach the Girmal waterfall is also beautiful. if you are coming from Songadh then take a right turn from Singala post. what a magnificent waterfall !! The surrounding area is beautiful, there are two-three view points from where you can enjoy watching this waterfall. nearby small local vendor shops are available, you can enjoy Maggie, tea, Makka. downstream view is also a beautiful treat to the eyes. At Singala post you can have local Dangi Thali at Sadguru Krupa Nahri restaurant run by SHG group.

We visited in monsoon season and the place is beautiful. The waterfall is huge itself and You will feel really close to Nature.

Girmal waterfall is near subir village on ahwa-songadh road. From subir village waterfall is around 14 km. Road upto waterfall is in fairly good condition, except last stretch which is little bit steep. Road from subir village to waterfall is eye soothing amid small water streams and paddy field. Waterfall is on purna river and surrounded by purna wildlife sanctuary. Best time to visit is during monsoon or just after monsoon, when water flow is on peak. On the way there is a famous u-turn point of purna river where river changes its course. Another place one can visit during this trip is famous Shabaridham temple, which is just 1 km from subir village. It is believed that Lord Ram had met tribal old lady Shabari here and ate the berry (ber) during his 14 yrs.

One of the best hills to visit at this time of the year! The roads challenge both amateur & pro riders equally. The journey is just breathtaking! Luscious greenery all around, cool breeze, if you’re lucky it may rain too. Best time to visit would probably be early morning hill climb & descent as the sun sets. Just a humble request to all, don’t spoil the natural beauty of the place by littering the area. Carry a bag with you in which you can put all the trash & dispose it off once you get down from the hill in a nearby dustbin. Other than that, enjoy the trip & the ride!

This place is unrated! What an amazing hill station to visit! Great views, less crowd and beautiful atmosphere. I would say this place as unexplored gujarat! Highly recommend place to visit with friends and family! This place can be visited during monsoon and trust me the views are mind blowing!

Wilson hill is a hill station in Gujarat. Located on a top of the hill this place is just like any hill point that becomes beautiful during the rains. The place was filled with tourist when I went but the weather was chery on top. It's a beautiful place but if you are going when the season is high make sure that you get your parking sorted in the beginning. But overall a good place to visit if you are around.

Nice Place for Nature Lovers. Clear Sound of Falls With Beautiful Scenery is enjoyable. Entry Fees ₹ 10 & Parking charges are as per Vehicle. Handmade Household decorative items are sold in small shops align the Way to Gira Dhodh. One should be careful in walking on the Way & strictly Staying away from Water Activities. Lifeguard Ropes are bound on the Ambika River Bank for Tourist safety. Security personnel are around there. I loved the site seeings here.

Good decent place, probably one of the only waterfalls in gujarat of this size. Water is all brownish and you can’t get much closer to it Entry is 10 rs. So for that much i guess its pretty good.

Gira waterfall is very beautiful and stunning place in dang district, I recommended to you visit this place in only in monsoon because other day you can't see the waterfall here .....the entry ticket of this place is only 10/- and it's budget friendly ❤️

For a view point, it's a good place. But I went here to play in water or near water, the management here won't let you go near water. If you are looking for a waterfall you can enjoy water in it, this is not the place you are looking for.

Wonderfull place, though you can not go much closer, it is still a very good place to visit during your saputara trip...as there is nothing much in saputara.. Little kids can enjoy(bath) on other side of fall... You will find variety of Bamboo items, Entry ticket 10 rupee. Car Parking fee 50 rupee.

Lovely waterfall. U can't go close to it as there's a strong barricade to avoid visitors going downstairs towards the falls, as recently some untoward accidents had occurred in the state at similar places. When we had visited, there had been heavy rainfall the previous day, so the fall had a very heavy flow of water.

Visited Yesterday, Ticket price is per person Rs.10 (entry ticket) Waste of time and money...... No water at the waterfall 😔 No place to eat Only the bamboo items were good but bit expensive. Weak transportation from the main road to the waterfall but....it's just 1.5kms away Toilet was in a Bad condition ☕ Tea was also not good It may be a Good option to visit only if water flows from the waterfall... otherwise not recommended.

An ashram built in the lap of nature is Dandakaranya ashram, this ashram is built in a very large area, it has a quiet environment, a beautiful garden and a small parking lot, it would be good to visit this ashram in the evening with children.

You can visit here for free. There is a cowshed here, and there is also a very nice garden. A yagna puja is performed here on every full moon. The atmosphere here is very peaceful. You can come here alone or with your family.

Peace of Mind by Yoga. A excellent method in yoga to control on your mind and body. Ashram is located at very beautiful place. One can stay there for Sadhana at reasonable rate. Canteen is also available for Lunch and dinner. Thank you swamiji for great Yoga Guidance.

Unbelievably beautiful and serene place near Vansda. The temple campus and garden both are maintained neatly. The park timings are generally, 11AM - 2PM, 4PM - 6 PM. In case of any event, entry might be denied. Temple campus remains open from morning to as late as 10 PM.

I recently visited Daman to celebrate my son's birthday, and we had a fantastic time exploring the city. We visited the iconic Moti Daman Fort and Bom Jesus Church, both of which were beautiful and rich in history. Best place to walk, jog or cycle your way through Beautiful Pathway created on ocean side. Recommended to visit only between Monday to Friday as on weekends : there's literally quite a rush just like Mumbai andheri local😄.....if want to visit on weekends ( Sat, Sun), then better complete your trip before evening, as after evening traffic becomes pathetic!

There’s a lot of litter around, which spoils the experience. You won’t find any food stalls or proper facilities nearby, so it’s not very visitor-friendly. If you’re short on time, you can skip this place during your trip. It doesn’t offer much apart from the outer view.

Walked to Fort St. Jerome. Built in 1614 by Dom Jeronimo de Azevado, the Portuguese Viceroy of India. They built the Fort to strengthen their defences against Mughal Emperor Jahangir (who reached their doorstep) and to attack Dutch, Danish and British ships. There is a giant statue of St. Jerome at the entrance. Flanked by two humans.... ....on either side. There are Latin inscriptions.... ....on either side. There are Latin inscriptions on either side.... ....of the statue of St. Jerome too. There is an engraved emblem to the right. It is not the Portuguese coat-of-arms. I don't know what it is. The fort is abandoned. It is not maintained by the Archeological Survey of India or the state archeology department. These must be cannon turrets. An old Portuguese wooden flagpole.

Located in Nani Daman, this is right across the creek to Moti Daman Fort. There is a church and school inside. You can climb the ramparts for a good view of the opposite aide. The lane next to the fort is filled with small eateries and the Kolkata style rolls are a must try!

Fort walls are kept as is and maintained, while inside is a mini city with a jail, church, hospital, Govt offices and some govt houses. There is an excellent place to sit and have a bite called the The Backyard Cafe. Must visit. Pls do check the visit timings. Driveable trip inside the fort. On weekends, can be a bit crowded. Entry is free. Ample parking.

Food I felt was overpriced but it’s a great place for kids as well as adults. Two restaurants for vegetarian and non vegetarian. Train ride, Jumping, Pool, boating are good for kids and they are chargeable. Waterpark entry ticket has two options, with lunch and without lunch. If you are visiting Daman then this is a go to spot for you. There's a lake inside this place and the lake has an island in between where you can go. There's also a restaurant and gaming arcade on the island. The best part of this place is a mini train which covers the periphery of the lake and is so much fun with kids. I have been observing since long, dryer machine or hand nepkin facility not available apart from that hall sound system is getting weak need to work on that. Every time need to ask for paper cup to get water from water dispenser. Over all hospitality is very low and same time tickets price r high. I do not want give 1 star. There is no space for parking so we all wait for main gate for 20 mins then park the car out side and came for movie. The movie started during the time. We explain it to manager but there is no specific answer for the same. So this is not good customer service.

I recently visited Rajhans Theatre, and my experience with the parking was extremely frustrating. Despite paying for parking, I had to wait over an hour to retrieve my car due to complete mismanagement. The chaos was made worse by a vehicle stuck on the pathway, blocking access, and apparently, it was locked with no quick solution provided by the staff. This level of disorganization is unacceptable, especially when customers are charged a parking fee. I hope they improve their system to avoid causing unnecessary delays and stress for visitors in the future. Plus the seat in screen 2 of row B is broken my family have to suffer. Worst management ever.

We visited this place after hearing about it from many people. They have developed this beach, it is much much cleaner when compared to other nearby like tithal. Kids love to play here. The best part is they have changing rooms, shower rooms & public washrooms. This is a good beach to spend 3 to 4 hrs together with family.

The beach is ok with nice sunset views but they do need to place some rubbish bins and encourage people to use them To help keep clean and tidy. Also if would be nice if they could place more of them parasols and more shade so that people can sit under them and relax.

There you can take your own luggage and make a tent and relax on a comfortable chair or your self made tent .. After bathing in the sea there are also facilities of both Public and Private showers .. Apart from the heavy food to eat , all kinds of light snacks fastfood available .. There are different types of rides to kids entertained .. Earlier there was a lot of dirt around the sea which has now been cleaned. Cleaning is also done around seating place every day so the cleaning is being maintained and the villagers charged public for cleaning service ( સફાઈ વેરો ) Overall the great place for spending whole day with your family , friends group , picnic. I suggest you to come with more people , you will have a lot of fun and will increase enthusiasm among each other 🫰✨

This is the exact place where Mahatma Gandhi took a bath before breaking the slat Law imposed by Britishers. On 5th April 1930 Gandhi Ji reached to Dandi and stayed in Saifee Villa. On 6th April 1930 at morning around 06:30 Gandhi Ji took a bath here at Dandi Beach and came back near to Saifee Villa and took the Salt in His Hand to break the Salt Law which was imposed as 2400% tax on domestic production of Salt.

I've recently visited pune zoo and kankariya lake zoo. Comparing with them, there's lot of improvement can be done regarding facilities, cleaning of toilets, condition of animals, direction boards. Talking about positives, There are Lot of species that will be not available in every zoo. Hippo, otter, white peacock, white deer, white tiger are special to watch. Lot of birds, wild animals, reptiles can be seen here closely. Had good time with family here.

One and Only Zoo in Surat city. 50% Cages are vacant and do not have proper facilities for visitors and animals. Cleanliness and Hygiene are not maintained. 2-3 animals are worth watching, others are just walk through. Fees are reasonable Rs. 30 for Adults, Rs. 20 for 3-12 years Child. Note:- Butterflies🦋Garden is still closed... No proper re ply from authorities.. Overall not worth it compared to too much walking and watching 2-3 Animals Buy online ticket from Smc website before 4pm.

This is the largest zoological garden of the state and one of the oldest zoological parks of Gujarat, spread over the 81 acres with river Tapi on the north side and Surat Kamrej road is on its south side. The zoo was established in 1984, the first zoo in South Gujarat region and Gujarat's breeding center. The zoo has successfully bred lions, royal bengal tigers, hinalayan bears and white bears . When I visit this place I know more about animals and birds . This is the best place in Surat , Gujarat.

Lots of kids around have still not visited Sarthana Nature Park. Not sure why. It's worth a while and the animals and birds are well feeded for now at least. So I'd recommend one and all to visit it once every year or two.

The Butterfly Garden, which was one of the highlights we were looking forward to, didn’t have any butterflies—just lakes and a museum, which was a bit disappointing. It’s definitely a better experience if you visit on weekdays, as weekends can get crowded. If you have kids, it’s a great family outing as there are plenty of children around, and the atmosphere is lively and fun. While Sarthana Nature Park is already a decent place to visit, there is room for improvement in terms of animal welfare, visitor amenities like drinking water and food options. The staff was friendly, and we appreciated the parking and wheelchair facilities, making it accessible for all visitors. Overall, Sarthana Nature Park is a nice spot for nature lovers and families looking for a day outdoors, and with a few tweaks, it has the potential to become even better. Worth a visit, especially for the price!

This is the best place in Surat to go with family and spend sometime. Here boating and ropeway ride . I suggest you should take a ride their experience is awesome when they take you middle of the pond at the sunset time. Food is highly costly I suggest bring it from outside at the time of entry. At night time the view of this place is literally blow your mind . Clean and very peaceful you can do picnic also . I'll always prefer this place . Good place to enjoy in evening, a big lake and some water sports too. Some attractive fountains adds more beauty to it. U can come in afternoon too to enjoy its beautiful landscaping. Located in the middle of city. So anyone from surat can visit it. Amazing sites for fun. But it is very busy place. There is lot of traffic in and outside here. But overall it is a good place.

I visited the Gopi Talav around Christmas vacations of Dec 2024 as part of my Surat sightseeing. We got there at around 4 PM but we observed that people usually start to visit 6 pm onwards. Its a small lake. Probably has Fountain and light-n-sound show after 7 PM but we couldn't wait for that. Washroom space perhaps not present here and also not many food outlets (we found just 1 which had a not-so-authentic wada pav and popcorn) so better to carry own water bottle and food. Boating was closed for some maintenance when we visited and also a lot of garbage and untidiness at the entrance which felt unwelcoming but at least the interiors of the Gopi Talav are kept clean. Overall we didn't quite liked this place much at least for visiting before 6 PM.

A good place for a morning/evening walking or just have a good time with family in Surat. There’s Parking available. Also, there are certain sport activities like cricket, boating, Zipline and more. There’s also food available but mostly fast food. So if you want anything healthy then get it from outside

It is very beautiful here but some places are very bad, they need maintenance. The place where the children play is not well maintained. There is a lot of dirt and no instruments for playing. There is a zip line here, it works well. There is a water spray but it is not working properly. You will get space for parking two wheelers and four wheelers here.

I went along with my friend one weekend. This historical place is renovated by Surat Municipal Corporation in recent years. I really appreciate the nice restoration work done by SMC. Upon entrance to the Castle , we were guided to one dungeon where a theatre is established. A 20min film is shown , showing the history of this fort & its timeline. The Castle still stands firm after so many centuries. There are many galleries in this castle which displays artefacts, paintings, historical items associated with this place. All the display halls & galleries are air conditioned. I spent around three hours viewing each sections of this castle. Initially constructed during the Tughlaq rule in 1372 CE, a more substantial fort emerged in 1546 AD under the direction of Turkish soldier Nazim Khwaja Safar Salmani, titled 'Khudavand Khan' by Gujarati Sultan Mahmud Shah III. Following the win over Surat by Emperor Akbar in 1573, the fort came under the control of commandants from Delhi until the Siddi admiral of the Mughal fleet seized it in 1751. The English captured the fort in 1759, although it nominally remained under Mughal authority. Surat, a significant medieval port, garnered international importance in world trade, as noted by Portuguese traveler Barbosa in 1514. Described as a bustling trade hub and crucial seaport, Surat faced adversity in 1512 when it was reportedly burnt by the Portuguese. Subsequent attacks under the leadership of Antonio da Silvaria in 1530 and 1531 further devastated the city, prompting Ahmedabad king Sultan Mahmud Shah III to commission the construction of a robust fortress in response to Portuguese aggression. This castle signifies the importance of Surat in world trade in Medieval Era. One must visit this place if one visits Surat.

I visited the Surat Castle around Christmas 2024 vacations as part of my Surat sightseeing. The place wasn't too crowded. This is a place of historical importance. The castle was apparently destroyed in a fire a couple hundred years back and then over time the place deteriorated but the Govt. of Gujarat and Surat MNC have together rebuilt and renovated this place. There is a short movie about history of the Surat Castle at the start of the tour, guided really well by the guards. One can see the pictures of the place before and after the renovation and clearly they've done a great job. The castle is like a museum now and houses several sections like weaponry, clothes, earthen, ceramic, metallic pottery and other artefacts, paintings, sculptures, manuscripts, etc. If you like History, this place is a must visit and you can easily spend at least about 2 hrs here.

There is only one big issue that is difficult to find the parking because there is a very narrow road to reach the temple.

Initially, you will be told a higher fare for all these rides but if you negotiate with them, they will be willing to give you a ride at a lower rate. I rode a horse and they charged me Rs 100 per person for that horse ride. I liked this ride a lot. The sea water of this beach is a bit dirty. On the way to the beach, i.e. about 400-500 meters before the beach, there is also a bird sanctuary, if you go with small children, you can also go there. On the way to the beach here, you will find various bhajiya shops. You will get a lot of variety in bhajiya there. You should try it once.
